Topic:Muay Thai Show Adult & Juniors Sunday 28th June 09

I am organising matching and officials for a show in Northampton on Sunday 28th June.
Please find a list of matches required, if you can help please let me know ASAP and I will forward you the full details.

Basic outline; all weigh-ins on the day, all gyms will be paid £5 ticket commission plus full expenses, 3 Cornermen (1 Trainer and 2 seconds)

This will be Muay Thai rules and scoring. None of the judges are from the home town all are 100% independent of both the town and every gym with boxers on the show.

I am trying to set a standard for good matching for home fighters and good decisions where gyms are confident to take their fighters without fear of being poorly matched or ripped off.

We are looking to put on good entertaining close fights not one sided mismatches which unfortunately are still common with some shows.

Officials will be:-

Shaun Boland - St Ives - Referee
Dean James - Wolverhampton - Head Judge
Chris Podesta - Market Harborough - Judge
Surj Notay - Leicester - Judge

Matches:-

Danny 30 kg age 10 EXP to fight 5x2 junior rules, shinpads
Liam 32kgs age 11 2fights to fight 5x1.5 shinpads no head contact
Reece 42 kgs age 12 1f 1loss to fight 5x1.5 shinpads no head contact
Tom 47 kgs age 14 6f 5loss 1win to fight 5x2 junior rules, shinpads

Bob Adult 61/2kgs 3 fights to fight C Class 5x1.5 No Pads
Mason 68kg 4 fights to fight C Class 5x1.5 No Pads

I have all tickets and posters ready to send out as soon as you get back to me and i look forward to working with you.

Yours in Muay Thai,

Liam Robinson

Hi Brad, I propose matching Evan Jay against Danny Hendle i think it will be a good fight Even Jay is one of my favourite fighters to watch he was quality last 2 times i judged him in Crawley. I will see what i can do with the other one at 32kg mate.

Have seen poster is now called king of jungle used to be jungle wars
Liam R
Posted: 2009-06-11 04:27:25
It is not Jungle Wars, i know its similar because one of the chaps who organised sponsorship and venue is still involved but matchmaking, officials etc has all been changed it should run smoothly and there are 14confirmed bouts at the moment so no tea breaks between bouts or long intervals.
I have tried everyone for a 60kg 10yr old novice but cant seem to find anything anywhere mate sorry, what if we can find someone a bit lighter but 11 or 12yr old?
or lighter but more fights or something even it out broaden the criterea might make it easier to match.
speakeasy
Posted: 2009-06-16 04:10:00
Normally these rough & ready shows are more razmatazz than good fights this one could be different but will there be the usual monkeys bongo drums and snakes all over the place

good luck liam, hope it goes well for you.
Liam R
Posted: 2009-06-16 08:50:15
lol who ru speakeasy? yeah there has always been fire eaters stilt walkers podium dancers strippers snakes bongo drums magicians on the vip tables etc and expensive Mc bur it will be a little bit different this time, there are plenty of confirmed matched so even if we have pullouts it will be a solid lineup of at least 12 bouts which is ideal, theres a couple of thai titles, decent gyms involved Benfleet,NMT,Sor Khamsingh (Liams's Gym) the officials have all passed assesment we have a decent ref and the matchmaking is realistic there will be no-one falling over against home fighters i want fair exciting fights so whatever else happens with the whos who of northampton trying to buy more bottles of champagne than the next man sat with his wife and her £20k breasts is irrelavent as long as what goes on in the ring is sound then ill be happy.

OK here goes, massive thanks firstly to Brad from Benfleet, Mark Wilson and Ste Cullen from Kirby, Stevenage Bodypower Fighters, GM Goff Bates and his team, Mark Barlow Assasins, Martin from NMT, Jon Graham and Tim Thomas Naksoo, Barrington Patterson, Pete & Assistant from Event Photography, Dean James, Surj Singh, Chris Podesta and Shaun Boland who was a top quality referee and didnt put a foot wrong all night top man.Everyone was well looked after and said their boxers enjoyed the event which is the main thing, i must apologise for it kicking off at 5pm not 4pm this was due to the ring hire guy doing one to luton as he said he had better cornerposts yet he turned his phone off and was supposed to be back at 3pm! We took the ones off the ring at the gym and they were fine but caused an hour delay as we taped them up like a mummy in the gym! Some cracking future talent on display from northampton, i was particularly pleased for Tom Hendle who recorded his first win for a while, he always takes hard fights and gives away weight and experience and he fought a very strong lad from liverpool who fought Antuans brother Leo Siangboxing aka Leo Pinto etc last year. Big Thank you to Martin from NMT who took the fight for little Liam who was a good 4kg lighter and less experienced than opponent but did himself and his gym proud and earned some valuable ring experience.
Evan Jay v Danny Hendle was class, Evan shorter and stocky was 0.5kg heavier than Dan but Dan much taller and used to his advantage with some lovely knees in the clinch. The lads from Benfleet were very well schooled and a lot of experience in the corner Mason showed excellent heart to keep kicking with his leg that was hanging off from round 1 lol fortunately he stayed strong and held position scoring well with body kick and knee to win a close pts decision, Dan was very tough and game and made a nice mess of masons lips with those 8oz Reyes ;-)
I think we managed to more than cover everyones expenses and did our best to look after the officials with refreshments, im sure ive caught up with everyone but if anyone is short on anything just give us a ring. Thanks.

Did you go speakeasy? no snakes or tricks just a couple of ring girls this time and a bit of camoflage decoration.
