Along with some of the Pro fights that are taking place this year I'm pleased to announce one of the best female amateur fights has just been confirmed for my next show on 6th September.

Chantelle Cameron, the current IKF 5 nations amateur light-welterweight Champion will move down in weight to fight for the IKF British Amateur super-lightweight title against Stacy Hawkins, the current WKA Am champ.

Both these girls come from a long and successful career on the mats in points and light continuous and have set the same high standard in the ring. In Chantelle's last fight she beat Amy Wilson from Ireland who had 20 fights on her record whilst Stacy beat Adele Stineback from Scotland, a WKN European Amateru champion.

Further fights on the event will be announced soon, but wanted to announce this one as I truly believe it's going to be one of the top domestic amateur match ups this year

Was this high level at Kickboxing? Zoe Mason beat her convincingly in the IFMAs and thats padded amateur and to her advantage as Zoe isnt used to fighting that way.

'Was this high level at Kickboxing'...Was what high level at KB liam??

the fight with Stacey certainly will be..

yes under amateur Thai rules Chantelle lost to Zoe. I heard from a few people that it was close so not sure about the word 'convincingly', but yes she lost.

Since then Chantelle has moved into FC where she is more suited IMO and when we have pursued the amateur side of the game to its full extent, then who knows maybe a return with Zoe (who fights Pro FC) may happen.

From what I saw of Chantelle a couple of weeks ago at the Rochester event she most definately is suited to FC rules. She was very slick. Great hands , footwork, movement and her kicks were great but of a definate "kickboxing style". Can't see her being very well suited to Thai (amateur or not) unless she is one of those lucky people who is capable of dramatically changing their fighting style at the drop of a hat.

As far as predictions go I have never seen Stacey fight but if she is as good a technical fighter as Chantelle then the match should be cracking!

Ok thats cool, yes it was a convincing unanimous win on all cards, it was close initially but as is the case with most Thai fighters Zoe pulled away at the end

Chantelle did train thai for some time with Lee Hasdell and won her division at Thai in the IKF world classic in Florida last year, she dominated her 3 opponents that day so I have no doubt that if she had stuck with that she would have acheived great success at that code as well..however as Jenny says her movement, range of kicks, etc make her very well suited for fc.

Really nice to see so many people take interest in both an amateur fight and a female one as well, which was my reason for posting in the first place. I have now landed another top female amateur fight for my sept show and will post on that later, but it shows the quality that exists in the sport now.

i was just trying to see when and who she was with in northampton so i could help her out with sparring

Think it would be more than fair to add along with her previous mat experience, that she is also excepional at K-1 style rules.

In the A.K.A.'s whilst under the guidance of Lee Hasdell and Claire Reilly, she won two IKF British Titles under OSR Rules, as well as made a succesfull defence. One of the two British title's she won, she took from the defending champion.

Then she travelled to the USA, and competed in the IKF World Tournament Championships, ( a K-1 style grandprix event ) where she won all three of her bouts by unanimous decision and captured a World title.

She is a very talented young lady. I am sure she will go on even further with Colin and the TKO team.

Best of luck to Chantell and Colin for the bout!

Having press released this fight and gotten some nice interest, it is with regret that I announce the fight is off, Stacey’s camp have withdrawn

Although I won’t bore people with all the reasons, I don’t mind saying I am not happy about it. The fight was agreed almost 4 months in advance of the event and I don’t accept the reasons for not doing it if I’m being honest and anyway a commitment is a commitment and if you don’t honour them then there is no future for the game IMO. I have always believed that if you lay claim to a ‘British’ title then you fight ANYONE from Britain and that is why I made the match with a fighter laying claim to that title.

So…we move on. The fight with Stacey WILL NOT happen on anyone’s show now, I don’t work like that. It is my firm belief that Chantelle is the top amateur fighter in the division (62.5) in the country having moved down from 64.5 where she also was dominant and I have no doubt got to go abroad now to get someone who is prepared to fight her and who won’t pull out. However, if there is any female amateur fighter in the country who wants to take this fight, I will leave it open for 4 days. I always believe that fighters should fight for the title of British Champion before moving ahead and so it would be nice if someone wanted to take it so Chantelle can get the chance to fight for the British title.

Anyone interested should e-mail me in confidence to tkokickboxing@hotmail.co.uk

This post may have a bit of ‘attitude’ I accept, but the lack of professionalism in this game does bug me and is a big reason why the sport is being held back.

seen chantelle fight a few times now and she is really good, definatley suited more to FC than thai, just because of the way she moves but you can tell she is just one of those naturally talented people that could do anything including boxing. she probably could be an excellent thai boxer too if she had continued to train it, just like Julie K has done.

Pete, I do appreciate what you say, but we are moving on, I can't work like that and nor should anyone else if I'm being blunt. Shame, cos Chantelle would defintely win and would have enjoyed the portfolio
