womens mt world titles, what are peoples opinions on womens world title rules with regard to elbows and 3 minute rounds, who should decide etc etc

my only opinion on this is that muaythai isnt wimbeldon why should women have it easier with less rounds?
some sanctioning bodies still dont allow elbows for women --are we living in the dark ages or are they right?
just thought it might make an interesting thread as fc rules still allow women to fight 12 rounds for a world title.

not clued up on the title element so don't want to comment on that but was shocked when I read 'some sanctioning bodies still dont allow elbows for women' !?!? - if some women wana fight with elbows, let them fight with elbows- for those that dont wana c it, dont watch! We should all have the same choice male or female, Kat

Its part of the sport so they should do it.

Its not even the same as the Wimbledon analogy as at least they still play tennis, taking the elbows out of MT is like taking the net out of tennis, just becomes a different sport.

FMTR all the way for ladies and men ,Julie wins either way Nathan and is a credit to the UK,Its just such a shame her(and your) efforts are not more rewarded both in public recognition and in finance.

totally agree... Julie is a credit to UK Muay Thai.....

but a World Muay Thai title for women and men - should allow elbows - else it shouldnt be called a Muay Thai title - as it isnt. But didnt the WMC just allow the Spong fight in Jamaica to be elbow less - and still be for a belt. Im just guessing that the organisations want the sanction fees and shows want to put 'title fights' and so 'bend' the rules to allow it...

needs everyone to be of the same mindset as you and Julie really.... then it wouldnt happen.

i agree, infact all fights should be under the same rules for men and women (ie A class all full rules 5 x 3, etc etc). In my opinion 5 x 2 is not appropriate for a title and MT should always include elbows for a title fight.
