Looking forward to seeing the Swedish fighters perform - don't think I've see anyone from that country fight, also makes it a bit more exciting cos you really don't know what to expect. I reckon if a few of the fighters are champions then they must be pretty good at least!
Posted: 2005-09-02 17:47:57
I reckon you could be right Anya, just means a bigger scalp for us SMTC boys to take. Sorry and Girl, Can't leave you out Laura.
Posted: 2005-09-03 05:42:33
Great stuff. What weight are Steph & Mehdi fighting at?
liam badco
Posted: 2005-09-03 06:31:26
matthais is training at jittigym at the moment he is very tough and has a big hearty but is not that experienced so i think sean will take it on points
ally wallace
Posted: 2005-09-03 10:31:47
Steph and Mehdi are fighting at 77kg AFAIK
Posted: 2005-09-03 12:47:06
Thats good to know liam, that just makes the show even more exciting to go to. From Scotlands point of view its a no lose situation, and a good step foward for Scottish thai boxing to get good opponents over.

The steph and mehdi fight is one to watch as they are both big guys with alot of power.
ally wallace
Posted: 2005-09-03 13:36:20
Should have mentioned that the Steph/Mehdi fight is also 3X2mins
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-04 16:19:56
I think all the fighters are looking forward to this show. I am looking forward to fighting someone from abroad, a wee change from fighting an opponent you know of or have seen fight before. It will be a good challenge for us all.
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-04 16:23:21
Also forgot to mention that the SMTC website is getting revamped at the moment.
Posted: 2005-09-05 09:34:09
Mathias is strong... he has been fighting out of Jitti Gym for the past year in BKK, but previous to this he hadnt fought before. A baptism of fire I think!!!

Seans experience will take a points victory me thinks.
liam badco
Posted: 2005-09-06 00:16:29

Is Mathias the only Swedish fighter on the bill out there at the moment?
liam badco
Posted: 2005-09-06 05:55:35
dont know about that but hes the only swedish at jittis.
he fights in china on the 15th.
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-06 10:14:15
Should be a good match for sean then, as he has been out there for the last 7 months.

Posted: 2005-09-07 03:23:39
Here's a link to the Swedish teams website for anyone who's interested. It's all in Swedish (obviously!) but there's some nice pictures.
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-08 06:24:51
did you have they pics of the Swedish handy in your wallet, not only do you owe me money but an explanation as to how you got hold of those pics so fast and do you have any more in your wallet of the other Swedes? lol
Posted: 2005-09-08 07:45:18
come and have a word at Skens and I'll let you into a lil secret...
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-08 09:19:45
see you there
Posted: 2005-09-08 14:43:39
Any pics of the other Karlsson?

And Laura, stop being so suspicious, all us fellas keep photos of greased-up guys handy for an emergency.

don't we?....
Posted: 2005-09-08 14:47:15

Wouldn't mind a pic or two of Tereze Lindberg either.

Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-08 17:34:40
HEY all the guy's have been warned about this! Yes Tereze is a good looking lass but you have not to be shouting for the opposition now. A few guys suggested getting her on early and then we could use her as the ring girl, but hopefully she won't be able to walk by then.
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-08 17:37:16
Am telling all your girlfriends what you guy's are saying down at the gym.
Posted: 2005-09-09 02:54:34

Here is your picture bobachanchyn, now don't be getting any ideas.
Laura stevenson

Posted: 2005-09-09 03:24:34
Can you FEEEEEEL the rage?

Heh. Gonna be a good scrap. Don't put too many dents in her Laura. It wouldn't be ladylike. :)
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-09 03:30:03
i am gonna warn Tereze (after i beat her) to stay away from the SMTC perv gang.
is that you just getting to your bed bobachanchyn??
Fredric Rosenberg
Posted: 2005-09-09 09:18:28
Sorry to interupt your conversation about Terezes looks , but i dont like you calling her a bitch Laura.
I dont think she deserves that .......... so please keep it on a mature level.

Thank you and see you in Oktober

Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-09 10:05:59
I am sorry, i meant it in a light harted way. I did not mean to offend Tereze.
I was just a bit of banter bettween me and the boy's from the gym, as they have all been commenting on her good looks. Please accept my appologies to you and Tereze. I did not mean it to sound the way it did. It was more of a compliment to her than anything else.
Scottish humour is sometimes a bit harsh.
Fredric Rosenberg
Posted: 2005-09-09 10:12:13
No problems Laura ;-)
Posted: 2005-09-10 05:02:31
The Scots have a strange sense of humour, I ve been training with them nearly five years and sometimes I don't get em. I know for a fact that Laura would me no harm.
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-10 05:43:58

Sean's back this weekend from Thailand.

I heard a rumour that the lads in the fighters class have all chipped in to change the locks on the gym door.
Posted: 2005-09-13 13:17:27
Nah we have just asked John to move the Gym through to Edinburgh. Can't wait for Sean to return and boot us about but if I'm still standin hopefully I can pick up a few tricks of the trade.
Posted: 2005-09-13 14:20:02
maybe we should just take the mirror down then he won't be tempted to stay as long
Posted: 2005-09-13 17:02:40

A shaky camera and most of my fight upside down, i don't know, i think he was looking at ring girl of the month from fighters mag at ring side. C'mon give us an explanation 'Boba'. Mind guy's down at the gym he wants to be that.
Fredric Rosenberg
Posted: 2005-09-14 05:01:16
Noi666 and Liam you are not giving out secrets about your training partners at Jitties to the Scotts are you ;-)
Posted: 2005-09-14 09:33:12
would we do that!!!

no trade secrets...all praise!!!
Posted: 2005-09-14 15:14:29
Nothing wrong with enjoying two girls going at it hard!

I was going for the 'Blair Witch' effect - just cos none of you philistines can appreciate my cutting edge filming techniques.

And less of the "old" Mordan - I'm still younger then you despite what the hairline says.
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-15 15:07:03
We will pay one pound in scottish notes per piece of info on the Swedes. C'mon noi666 you could make a lot of money from this.
Frederic, Scottish money is worth a lot more in England. If you want to make a few pounds i'll tell you how to do it when you come over on October.
Posted: 2005-09-17 13:03:15
Good Luck to the Scots on this one, the swedes are tough but so's the Hardy boys & girls, being originally from up North i can agree
also did a bit with the man mr craig a good teacher.
The fights will be a war Best of British and scottish to yas
Fredric Rosenberg
Posted: 2005-09-17 13:17:34
Sounds great Laura ;-)
Posted: 2005-09-17 16:14:10
Just noticed that Tereze Lingberg bears an uncanny resemblance to boxer Regina Halmich.

Anyway, good luck to all fighting, a lot of historically tough warriors getting it on!
Posted: 2005-09-19 11:16:19
Well, if noi ain't going to let any secrets go on the Sweds, How about you Fredric. Nothing wrong with dropping a few trade secrets on your fellow country men. :) I'll even throw in a few Scottish pound notes.
Fredric Rosenberg
Posted: 2005-09-19 14:10:38
Hmmm Mordan , how much you talkin about then,
and you gotta promise not to tell anyone ...... ;-)

Oh and by the way Mattias won his fight on the 16th September in China
ally wallace

Excellent, well done!

All makes for more excitement when he comes over here. Really looking forward to this one.
Posted: 2005-09-19 15:56:09
Promise I won't tell a soul Fredric, everyone in here is pretty good at keeping secrets (har har) If I can't find any £1 notes I'm sure I can sort you out with some rainbow coloured australian notes!!! :)

Do you know how he won his fight?
Fredric Rosenberg
Posted: 2005-09-19 16:06:15
Sounds great Mordan ... i need some cash for my next Thailand trip , so maybe after Scotland i can afford :)

He won the fight on points after 5 rounds ... dont know who his opponent was though.
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-20 17:50:03
I like the new method of loosing weight for your fights guys! Mark 3kg (hair cut), Dan 4kg (shaved beard), i must be able to shift a good 5kg with a trim then.
Posted: 2005-09-21 15:26:13
Think I'll just go for a 'back, sack & crack' & fight at 40kg in future.
Posted: 2005-09-21 21:44:26

Posted: 2005-09-23 15:12:25
Who needs a guard with a face like Barry's? ; )

Good luck guys.
Posted: 2005-09-23 15:12:49
wise words...oh and bring some £1 Notes
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-23 15:22:02
Boba, we can slag Barry off as much as we like as he dosn't have access to the internet at the moment and get him back for beating on us lighter ones, but i will pass on what you said tomorrow on the way down to the weigh in Ha Ha!
Posted: 2005-09-24 16:00:30
some good fight nights like, manchesters master skens show tommorow, then 15th october croyden surry, then these in scotland, im going to try for a hat trick

Posted: 2005-09-26 07:36:20
Thing about losing is you put your head down and look at all the points of your fight, which I know for a fact Rhodri will be doing for this fight at Meadowbank.
Well Done anyway mate, done us all proud.

bbbbaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr bbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr.

Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-28 17:54:17
Barry has a face only a mother could love after that last fight. His nose looks like someone has halfed a potato and stuck it on his face. when chatting to him in the bar i seen it grow before my eyes.
Well done to the boys, we will get them back next time guys!!
I forgot to bring 1£ scots notes for noi666 as i did not think i would need to, but even on a bad day Stevie was still standing to the end.
Anyway, great show and well done to all the fighters that took part.
Lets kick some ass for this SMTC show guys!!!
Posted: 2005-09-29 07:11:25
Laura, maybe you can settle the bet with Noi by making another prediction on these fights, maybe make it double or nothing! Just who are you going to predict on?
Posted: 2005-09-29 14:00:50
Hey, that's just cruel - I love your face Barry!

Posted: 2005-09-29 14:22:01

Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-29 18:17:20
boba, if that's a pic of bazza you are trying to post, well thats just cruel to the rest of us having to look at it. You ain't seen his face yet! I think he's in hiding in a pub in Harthill somewhere.
Posted: 2005-09-30 03:33:41
Well we have been going on about the Sweds and trying to get any trade secrets about them but has anyone seen any of the Wicker camp boys fight? Just coming out of that camp means they won't be slouches, but has anyone seen any of the boys fight?
Posted: 2005-09-30 14:18:55
How did you know that?! It was a pic of Baz with a big spud grafted onto his beautiful mug, but obviously it didn't work.

I did think for a second that I might be going a step too far. But then I remembered it's Barry.

Posted: 2005-09-30 14:20:07
I'm sure he'll bust me in the chops for it at some point anyway....

Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-30 15:04:31
you should just come out the closet! Sleezy pics of greezed up men in your wallet, and your unhealthy obsession with Bazza who is a big gay boy anyway!. just ask big Dave Mcfarlane and Sibbald, they will let you into a secret or two about him. Anyway are you looking forward to your 20 rounds of sparring tomorrow. Remember Sean's back, a canny wait (aye right).
Laura stevenson
Posted: 2005-09-30 16:25:55
I have sent your money off to Richard Cadden c/o Bad Company. Hope it gets to you soon as i hear you are off to Thailand again (lucky sod). Are you planning to fight out there? also while your there post some more info on the Swedes. lol

Posted: 2005-10-03 07:14:00
Looking sharpe would be an understatement of what sean looked like on saturday. Seems those months in Thailand were well spent.
Roll on the 23rd I can't keep taking shots every weekend like the last one.

Sorry about that dunno what happend (story of ma life).
Boy's are you ready for your last Saturday afternoon kicking?? Still trying to figure out who gave me that black eye last week that i still have!. I think it could be young whale or Timm, but to be honest i think it was a bigger guy, a much much bigger guy!
Yoda, just noticed your comment, and thanks from you and Stacy.
noi, i bet the other guy wins (you know what that means) you will kick him around for 5
Posted: 2005-10-14 18:35:55
I think it was Dan - I overheard him bragging about it outside:

"...that'll teach her to..."

and he follwed that up with:

"....and that Bonner's gonna taste my boot next week..."

Posted: 2005-10-14 23:27:31
just realised...Frank.... I trained with him at Jittis last year. He won best Ram Muay of the tournament on the Kings Cup 2004. One helluva fighter. Daniel has a tough fight against Frank at 76kgs. Good luck to all fighters.

Fredric - Thanks for the chok-dee for my fight on the 22nd.

We don't mess around up here, like to take on the toughest, but I just really wanted to post something to get the 100 post.

Laura Craig
Posted: 2005-10-15 15:22:56
Mordan, imagine bursting young Whale's nose and giving me a black eye. You are now the new Barry! Whatever happened to that nice guy dan????
Posted: 2005-10-16 05:46:39
You would have to ask your Husband. He is the one who has formed me into the fighter I am today. As for your black eye and Boba, we will just have to sort this out with an extra bout on Sunday. Boba can stand on your shoulders to make him about the same height and weight as me.
Posted: 2005-10-16 08:48:08
You'll still be suffering a good looks deficit : )

No offence's all going in my little black book for when I bring bullying & harrassment charges against all you nasty, nasty people.

Noi666 has obviously got spies in my bedroom - lucky man, seeing the nighttime prowess that a solar panel powered thingamy bestows!
Posted: 2005-10-19 13:27:33
Easy tiger, even if your head is a solar power panel, you've got to remember that you live in Glasgow.

Laura Craig

John Craig Say's,

Tereze Lingberg injured herself during training and has had to pull out of her fight with Laura. We have had a medical certificate from Fredric Rosenberg and it shows that Tereze has tore a ligament in her knee which will put her out of action for a while. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope we can get this fight on at a later date.

Laura is very disapointed as she has she has trained very hard for her first international bout, but she understands the way the fight game is.
As Laura's husband and trainer she is one of the unluckiest fighters i have trained due to the amount of pull outs in her career.
We will call it a day for this year but back fit and strong next year. If any body wishes to have Laura on there show e-mail as above.

3. Loss for Steph Espouey v Mehdi
4. Win for Billy Bonner v Sam Bawden
5. Win for Robert Burke v Thomas Sandberg
6. Win for Chris Polley v William Schafferer
7. Win for Mark Timm v Niklas Karlsson
8. Win for Sean Wright v Mattias Karlson
9. Loss for Daniel Durick v Frank Hofstetter

It was a fantastic day and all the boys did very well!

Have to say well done to everyone who was there yesterday. From the fights I saw it was a really good show.

Graham put up a great performance for his first fight against a strong fighter who kept up the pressure right the way through the fight.

Shame about the Steph/Mehdi fight, it was definitely shaping up to be a war with Steph dominating, but then BOOM, Mehdi fires out a well timed body kick that caught Steph clean.

And Dan put up a massively gutsy performance - even though tired & cut badly he was ready to come out for the final round, but had to be stopped due to the cuts. At least for the next week or so he'll be as ugly as the rest of us! ; )

Great job to everyone else on the show as well, from all camps. I'm sure someone will put up a description of the fights, but as I say I didn't see them all.

Has anyone got any pics?

Well done everybody!! looked like a good show, does anyone know which website the pictures will be posted??

Boba, me Bro is working on the video footage as we speak and hopefully it will be sent down from the deen in a couple of days. As for photos, I'm pretty sure we had a professional taking them so hopefully their will be a few crackers.

Even with 7 stitches mate I'm still good looking, well the right side of my face is. lol

Well done to everyone some great fights and everyone was really well matched, I reckon we try and bring the sweds back as they were all class guys and as the drinks flowed their English was spot on.

The best fight for me would have to be Chris polley, from looking nearly down and out to bangin in those longs knees to take the fight. Once again didn't get to see em all but the ones I did were all awesome.

Anyone got any tips for trying to explain to a class of 9 year olds how I got my 7 stitches?

Laura's fighter pulled out a few days before the show due to injury.
