New Zealand's top Thai kickboxers are set to battle it out on Capital Punishment 8 in Wellington on April 29 2006.

When: April 29 Doors at 6:30pm
Where: Victoria University Student Union Hall
Tickets: $20 from NZ Martial Arts Supplies 1A / 45 Courtney Place or $20
on the door

Featuring top local fighters including; Callan “Cock-a-doodle” Dean, ‘Hyper!’ Anthea Morrision, Vicki Mellsop, Rua Druce, Akane Oshima, Julian Leighton, Chris Watson, Hayley Landy, Meenal Prasad, Lemi Tato, Uluiva Neemia, Jonathon Simpson, Bryce Barron and more.

Titles to be contested include:
 NZ Men’s Super Welterweight title
 NZ Women’s Light Featherweight title
 North Island Women’s Light Featherweight title
 North Island Men’s Cruiserweight Title

One of the highlights of the night will be the match-up between local favourite and current NZ champion, Callan “Cock-a-doodle” Dean and Auckland’s Terry Jack Terry is a young and hungry fighter trained by the legendary Pathai. Callan is a mild mannered accountant by day but by night trades his calculator in for boxing gloves and turns into a flashy fighter recently winning the South Pacific Middleweight title in Sydney last year with a flying knee KO in the first round. Good luck for the show Mark. What sanctioning body are you promoting it under? Terry is tough and has talent but I think Callan with his awkward style and strong straight rights will be too experienced for him at the moment, You never know though. Both are good guys, all the best to both fighters.

Hope your training is going well in Aus - let me know when you come back and we can set up a rematch with Callan if you are keen. I think that Terry will be a hard fight - as you know he comes to fight and with Pathai in his corner has been improving every outing.

The sanctioning body is The Thai Boxing Association and all fights are knees to the head. Should be a good show and my pick for fight of the night apart from the titles are Uluiva Neemia VS Leamy Tato this will be a war. Uluiva is giving away about 15kg and both fighters pack a punch. As an interesting aside even though they train at different gyms I understand they go to the same church!!

Brice Baron will be out as he got his eye split open lastnight on Aaron Boyes Show. I'd say It would need atleast 4-6 stiches.

Unfortunetly Bryce got 7 stitches in his win over Darren Headly so that title has had to be cancelled and there have been a few other swap arounds all up we now have 12 fights as below this is not the final order....

Yeah i thought The fight between Callan and Terry i thought was a draw going into the 5th. In the 5th Terry rocked Callan with a left hook i think?? Terry won that round in my eyes. Pathai looked gutted when the win was announced to Callan. Some awesome fights and a good night

wow anthea and natasha had an absolute war! from round 1 came forward with huge bombs and had anthea is trouble but round three saw anthea turn things around with her long reach and managed to keep tash at bay with her teep.Really exciting fight to watch and my fight of the night.

Bronwyn fought really well, she showed good aggression and scored well. Vicki landed some good shots but looked a little flustered as Bronwyn kept coming forward.

Regarding Mr insiders comment on Callans fight. Personally, must observation was a little different. I had the impression that Callan was ontop throughout, although by a narrow margin. But then again, I was watching through a beer fuelled haze......

I also must agre with Mr Rumbles observations about the anthea/natasha match. Most definitely an exciting and ferocious affair

Excellent show Mark. Great match making and impressive skills from all the fighters. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Welly and if that's any indication of what the shows are like down there we will definitely be back. Easton vs Nato, Tainui vs Shaun, and Natasha vs Anthea were the highlights for me. Action packed fights from start to finish that were very evenly matched.
