GFC Muay Thai Boxing proudly present an afternoon of Thai Boxing action, featuring up and coming fighters from some of Britains best Thai Boxing gyms:
Ace Academy, Bad Company, Bolton Thai Boxing Club, Caledonian, East Riding, Horwich, Kings Cobra, Nongkee Pahayuth, Panthainarasingh, Scorpions, Sitnarong, Walkden and Wigan.

Tickets are available from GFC Muay Thai or any of the other gyms on the show.

It'll be nice to see plenty of AXers down in Heywood, the Civic centre is a pretty good venue and has nice, tiered seating, so you miss none of the action and a decent bar.

The Event is prodly sponsored by: Safe Style Windows Muckers, Sharples & Konrad Properties, AB Plasterers, The Gate and Railing Co. North West, The Beauty Parlour and Geoff's Fruit and Veg

59kgs. Skinny fucker. What weight did he fight Jordan at mate?? We got a couple of boys on this show, its always a good one and a great venue so looking forward to it, and at least we aint got Ryan fighting again mate so hopefully none of our lads will get sparked, the glass jawed fool.lol

Oh by the way can't you get a rematch with Mark Timm??? Was a cracking fight on Skens last year that and imo i think Martin clearly won the fight but didnt get the decision. Would be good to see these two go at it again.

Mark is fighting this weekend down in London and then again in May, he also fought just a few weeks ago in sweden so his pretty busy at the moment.

I think there is no denniying that Mark Timm has had the better results since their fight, Martin needs a few more fights now, but I think it will happen, there are just not enough 59kg fighters around!

Thank you to everyone wishing me luck for the show, this hasn't been what I planned. I wanted to showcase some of my fighters, but it's been a nightmare. with injuries work commitments, Scott Quigg in the aba's etc.

Got to thank everyone for supporting me, inparticular Guy Ramsey again for the last minute assistance. Waiting to confirm that wee sean can fight.

Still need someone to fight my son Luke, what king of dad am I, can't even get my own son a fight!

Quinn Macalister was a points win to MacAlistrnot Quinn,

missed two, Kyle Kenny v Mat Aikenhead was a win to Aikenhead and Fyara Matthews v Paige Holt was awin to Matthews.

Thought Panikos v John Dennis was a very good fight, Panikos dropped John for an eight count with a knee only for John to drop Panikos in the third with that left hook from hell which desposed of Martin Shivnan earlier this year. Overall Panikos clinch work was far supperior!

I'm proud of all my lads and lasses, Andy Mellor faced a very daunting task in Gordon Smith. Mellor is one of those lads that creaps up on you in the gym, trys very hard and is so eager to learn. I thought he would struggle with Gordon who I knew was strong, but wanted him to take the step up. A very close fight, one judge gave it too Andy by two points, the other two gave it to Gordon by one each. Andy scored very well in the clinch, but Gordon had some very good kicks. I dont think the judges agreed on a round which shows how close it was!

Rachael set up stall from the start with her boxing, Hilary just couldn't come to terms with Rachael's hands. The right hand was a peach

This wasn't the show I wanted to put on when I started off, but overall I am pleased with the way it turned out.

Big thank you to everyone who helped me, my "staff" all the gyms that supported, etc

Going to eat pizza and get drunk!

Great show. I thought that Hilary was edging it against Rachel and just starting to get in to her stride when she got caught with a left hook. I was a bit dissapointed with Rachel's thai boxing style as she seemed to spend the whole fight just running at Hilary with the hands and neutralising the clinch. It would have been nicer to see more thai techniques from Rachel. Hilary however was clearly beating her at this game so Rachel went for the win with hands only. A good fight though and if that is them at one win each as it says on women kickboxing it would be great to get a third. it was an exciting bout!

I thought the other girl did well but it seemed to be a bit of a mismatch in size/experience between the two of them. Another fight with a lot of boxing coming from one side. Why do so many Thai boxers just box? What is the point in that? Is it easier to do this in the ring? I have only ever had interclubs so I can't really comment but I would be interested in what people think as I feel it spoils fights a little sometimes.

The show was really well run and all the bouts went off quickly and smoothly. One of the best organised shows I have been to in a while.

Leanne had about 3kgs weight advantage, Alisa was doing well, but her nose was broken! not just bleeding and she was shipping some realy heavy shots! It didn't llok nice and the ref did the right thing, fighters safety is paramount, this was a novice bout! (Although Leanne looked very composed and had nice timing)

Thanks for the comments Kirsten, we try hard to please. To be honest, it's easier to organise a show when TV is not involved!

I also don't like the way some people Box their way through Thai boxing fights, but the punch is a weapon of Thai boxing. It the weakest scoring technique, unles it causes a knockdown and reallt I suppose you could argue that it's up to the other fighter to use the other, higher scoring, weapons to negate the boxing and make the other fighter use the full range of techniques.

I can't say much, on this show last year Martin Shivnan boxed his opponent to a 2nd round win.

Darren - happy to say Ailsa's nose was not broken. Just very messy indeed.

Heartbreaking for a fighter who was still both attacking and defending herself to be stopped with only 9 seconds of the final round to go.

I'm interested to know what people thought about having the junior fights on the bill? Obviously it's not an ideal situation for any promoter to put junior fights on, but I reckon there's a lot to be gained from it, especially as the fights were kept nice and short so that the spectators didn't have to wait too long for the adult fighters. I think it's good that the junior fighters got a chance to fight on a proper show, I think it'll do their confidence a world of good if they do eventually decide to continue fighting as they grow up. Let's be honest, some of those kids showed some great skill and confidence considering their ages and experience.

I have to hold my hands up and say that I don't usually enjoy girl's fights, but the four girls who fought on this show were absolutely storming. Gratz to all, you proved me wrong, girls can kick arse, proper style! Which reminds me, someone owes me a new top, mine got covered in blood. ;)

Really enjoyed the Andy Mellor V Gordon Smith fight, a very close fight indeed, with Gordon landing the more telling shots in open fighting, whilst I feel that Andy was definitely stronger in the clinch. A rematch sometime down the line would be a good gague for both fighters to see how far they progress.

Fight of the evening for me was the Pankios V John Dennis fight, absolute corking stuff, with Dennis taking an eight count early in the fight but as Darren said earlier, that left hook of Dennis' was absolutely awesome to come back and knock Pankios down, later on in the fight. Fortunately for Pankios, he managed to hold on until the end of the round and got himself back together to win the fight. A great contrast of styles with John prefering to move around and search for angles of attack, but I have to say, I loved the way that Pankios was calm and controled the ring superbly, cutting off John's angles, more often than not.

This may not have been the kind of show that Darren wanted to put on, but if you were at the GFC show, I'm certain that in a few short years, a good few of you will be talking about how you saw some of the fighters on this show for the first time at the Heywood Civic Centre.

Grats to Darren on another great show, grats to all the fighters for stepping up and grats to all the trainers and gyms for bringing well prepared fighters.

Pssst, Darren, You can slip me the brown envelope full of twenties later, mate. ;)

Well i'll chuck my quid's worth in for what it;s worth.
I thought as i've already said that the show was excellent,as was the last show!
As regards junior fights,I thought they were very good,Showed good skill and determination. And these are the future fighters? So give them that chance.Really enjoyed the fight between Darren's lad and Adam,Great stuff!
They did'nt take that much time up on the show?

The ladies fights were also great!

I agree with the fights you "picked out" as the best. But well done to all the gyms/fighters/instructors.

You did'nt need a double take this time Basil ;-)

I used to say that juniors shouldn't be on a show like this, but watch the video. Watch the way some of the kids (mine in particular lol) move and kick. then watch some of teh adults who are allowed to box and watch the Thai style go straight out of the window!

For a while now I've been watching kids on the circuit I'm involved in, I'm not sure why, although as usual I have a few ideas, some of these kids are better "Thai Boxers" than a lot of the adults around!!! ( a comment echoed by one of my senior fighters when he watched the kids class for the first time.

Chalky, agree Adam and Luke was great, clash of styles, but very good to watch an eight and nine year old, weighing less than 50 kgs between them show such skill!!!
