UK k1 results?

I received text last night that John Love won winning all fights by KO. John is trained by Eugine Valerio. Can anyone confirm this result?

Yep, John Love won.

He fought Chris Batcheldor in the first fight, as Steve Jones pulled out of fighting Chris and Clive Allison pulled out of the tournament.
Chris was suffering from a hernia but didnt want to pull out so still came to fight.
He had JOhn down in the first round but then his hernia flared up at he was in obvious pain. John then dropped Chris with a knee. When Chris came back from the first round he was in so much pain but wanted to carry on. In the 2nd round he wasnt moving well at all and John put the pressure on and then right at the end of the round, it completely went and Chris just sunk to the canvas. He still wanted to carry on, but we pulled him out. This by know means belittles Johns achievement, but felt I had to explain why Chris didnt look his usual self. He is so upset, but he is now going to have the operation on it, and hopefully we'll have him out next year.

Our other heavyweight, Alex Gould fought Chris Cooper and beat him on points in a real war. Chris must have the strongest chin I have ever seen. Alex hit him with everything and he still stayed up!

Alex then fought Steve Hamilton in the semi and was looking very good, working the legs well. Then in the 2nd round, Steve threw a spinning back fist which caught Alex flush on the chin ( I so hate spinning back fists!!!) Alex got up but was in no condition to carry on.

Steve and John met in the final, with John winning by 2nd round KO. John Love is definitly a star of the future and at only 17 years old too!!!

Have to say a big well done to Phil Pullen, beating John Wincott on points. It was a fight that was fought all in the clinch, with Phil working very well. So pleased for him as I know how hard he trains.

John Love looked very composed for a 17 year old. Great knee strikes!

A good show all in all seeing as it was mostly novices.

I was a bit disapointed with the fight between your lad and john wincott. Your lad looked for the clinch and it was just so dull to watch. This is why muay thai at this level will not appeal to the public in general.

if jesses lad was better in the clinch and winning with knees then why not? most people have said it was the best fight on the night.

Great show last night, Big well done to John Love, Was really pleased with Steve Hamiltons performances, He hadn`t fought for over seven years and only fought 3 times then at 82kilo. Hopefully he will go from strengh to strengh as I feel people only got to see 50 percent of what he is capable of.
Going toe to toe with the 20 kilo heavier Nasty Naz probably wasn,t one of his better idea`s and it cost him heavly in the next two fights as both shins were damaged.Alex Gould was awsome and looked 100 percent better than he had in the first fight inflicting even more damage to Steves legs but then that spinning backfist in the second round made the point scoreing unecessary so onto the final we went.By now his legs were a mess adding to hand injuries he had before the tournament worstening and I seriously considerd pulling him out, but not wanting to let the promoter and the fans down we decided to chance it .After two knockout wins John was alot fresher in the final and after an even first round he made the breakthrough catching Steve on the break then raining in punches forceing a stoppage victory again well done John.
Its ashame there hasn,t been more interest on here with this show as it was a cracking night with all 8 fighters giveing their all in every fight and nobody trying to conserve themselves for later rounds (much I`m sure to all the trainers displeasures : )) Every fight was fought like it was the final,
Finally a big thank you to Paul Hennassy for putting this on and unearthing some new heavyweight talent in this country.

Just back from OZ so missed it!

Unlucky for Chris Batcheldor with his hernia - at least now he knows he's gotta sort it - he was at the doctors this morning to kick start the operation and stuff! He's gonna be back...

And unlucky for Alex Gould too - I honestly thought it would be the two of them in the final - but as Alex knows, there's no such thing as a lucky punch so the backfist was good!

As for no coasting - I actually texted Alex and told him to go flat out each and every round of every fight - and don't worry if he feels tired, his body can handle it - it looks like every fighter had the same idea!!!

Shame I missed what appears to have been a great show, showcasing some good talent for the future.

I respect that everyone has their views, but this was a Muay Thai fight, and clinch is a big part. John is a dangerous fighter with his boxing, and I knew that his weak point is his clinch. We decided that Phil would win much easier in the clinch.
Maybe for some, it may be a bit boring, but there was a lot of work going on in the clinch, and I felt it was a very good fight indeed. For anyone who knows Muay Thai, it was a good fight.

I dont know what styles you have fought in, but I do find other styles boring, but to others they are very exciting. I suppose it just comes down to what you prefer, but I was very pleased with Phils performance.

we were really impressed with john loves performance, we new he was the under
-dog he was the youngest and lightest fighter on the night, but we told him
before the fight his gameplan was to keep moving, use the angles keep your opponant moving all the time so they couldnt plant there feet for the power shots and to get rid of his opponants as quick as possible to reserve energy for the later bouts and respect to him he listened to corner throughout the
contest and it paid off for him in the end. well done john i know you will be
reading this and i will see you at training on friday..

good day and night (a long one).

I appreciate the tactics involved and that your lad played them out very well indeed.

What i said was at that level ie class b thai fights with no elbow to the head, some fighters just clinch for 5 whole rounds then it does not offer much entertainment. I also agree that it was not your lads fault and it is the format i am citicising, not the fighters.

Contrast that with the class a fights that were on at the civic last year. Excellent stand up fights with good work in the clinch. Total entertainmaent.

john love vs dillion white was a ko kneed him in the face and knocked him
clean out i know the corner was complaining about there being no eight count
but there was no chance in the world he could of carried on after that john
blackledge called the right decision for the fighters own saftey no disrespect
to dillion and his team.

I agree with beaty. I was ringside and had a perfect view. Dillion landed flat on the canvas - it was a sickening knee!
Got to say that Dillion is one tough cookie and full respect to the guy. He smashed my fighters legs and left him with a knee like a football but took at least four knees to the head on the way (in fact, we had to have Matts other knee cleaned up by the doc because of the teeth marks left in it!). I think/hope we will see a lot more of Dillion in the future.

I think john blakledge did a great job of looking after all the fighter's safety and called it just right in stopping my guy in the third - Matt would have carried on, I wouldnt have thrown the towel but John did the right thing. Good ref.

I saw Dillions corner giving John Blackledge some stick - I guess thats ok with all the excitement etc, but I wasnt so impressed when they didnt acnowledge John Love when he went to their corner at the end of the fight. There was no call for that.

Cant wait for the DVD. There were some really good KOs :-)

for the future ,I know he usually fights around 85 but came
up in weight for the tournament. Did you stay till the end? I didn,t see any of the other guys once they had fought.
