The sport is silly enough in this country with everyone being a champion, why would you want to add to it?

Hi B as for the belt it was made here in the uk as the EFK belts as picture were not made in time, so that belt was made here. The Belts of the EFK are great and come in presentation case i have been given the task by our head office to design the EFK Belts for 2007 and thats now been done my makers abroad have finished all EFK belts Area Title Belts, British Title Belts. European title belts as picture above,All belts are slightly diferent in Design and made of 5mm plate and quality leather,And are well worth winning.Not like the belts you get here in the uk.

Just a small point, and this is NOT a political point in any way. As you know myself and carl sams have for over a year now been producing a set of ratings for FIGHTERS magazine. They are far from perfect, but they are I truly believe the best set available. We are contantly crying out for info to improve them. Some people who get here on AX have been a great help. Neil Kelly, Dale Wood, Dean Sugden, Doug Harrison amongst others have been particular supportive but as ever in this sport it seems some people just do not want to share information.

Dell, I respect what you are doing as I would with anyone whose group intends to work to a high standard within the sport but truly feel the sport needs a set of ratings that are not attached to any particular set of initials.And of course having the sports main magazine supporting them can't fail to help.

This post is written with all respect and is intended to encourage debate about ratings in general. If the ones we work on can be improved in any way then I can assure everyone you will find myself and Carl open to all suggestions and debate.

Thanks for your views and i agree with most of what you say , but anyone can fight with the EFK and WFK and if they do they will be put into our data base and ranked acordingly ie fight record,it is hard and frustrating to get people to spend time and send details but as you are doing im giveing it a go,We will not use mag coverage as you as one is enough,we are useing EFK and WFK websites for the rankings,What the EFK and WFK are doing if you check out their websites especialy our governing body is bringing all groups of kickboxers together whatever their organization they are still respected if you check out this ax thread earlier trinidad k/b org

So its about getting the best for the fighters,rearly nice belts to win,more trips abroad to fight,and well run shows and properly matched fights.

I would just like to add from a promoter, trainer and fighters perspective. Albeit mine...

Rankings are important for each sanctioning body as how else can people move up and challenge for the various titles.

Sanctioning bodies should have an easy way of communicating such information so it is up to date and fighters, trainers and promoters can use this as a way det the best possible matches.

Colin you and Carl do a good job and we need to keep them in and regulary updated. Fighters who are actively fighting against other people in the rankings should move up and down etc. Not seen them for a while??

If someone wants to challenge for a EFK or WFK then the rankings are a starting point. As they are with IKF.

From a promoters point of view I found the EFK very supportive in terms of getting pre publicity and post publicity. Plus they supplied alot of the paper work well in advance making it easier for us to administer the event.

I also got a call the following morning stating how pleased they were with the show. Positive feedback from the sanctioning body is always welcome.

They allowed us to use John Blackledge and his team of officials which means you cant get any clubs complaining of bias towards any particular club. John and his officials work for WAKO /WKA/ IKF / ISKA etc...

All their rules and guidleines can be downloaded and are available for everyone to see.

Overall a very good impression they left on me.

fair point Dean about not being seen for a bit...they are being worked on all the time by myself and carl, its just that they are being published perodically by fighters and not every month.

When we next update them I do intend to put them on here to get some debate going.

If we do that the last thing we want is silence or even total agreement..we really want people to argue with them...its the only they can improve.

Sanctioning bodies of course will have their rankings, titles,etc but at the end of the day number one is number one.

On Saturday October 7th, a packed Charlottetown audience saw Muzammal Nawaz of Canada knock out Gary Bonefant in the seventh round to win the WKA World Middleweight title. In the first round, Nawaz hit Bonefant with a hard lead hook from his southpaw stance. The punch hurt Bonefant and he was badly dazed. The game American regained his composure and fought valiantly through rounds 2-5 landing body attacks whenever he could. The highly conditioned Nawaz kept the pressure on landing stiff jabs and hard kicks at the end of each round.

In round 7, Nawaz again landed another punishing lead hook and Bonefant took a standing 8 count. The Canadian immediately jumped on his adversary hitting him relentlessly with punches. Bonefant tried to cover up but to no avail. He went down a second time but was unable to beat the standing 8 count.

Nawaz won the prestigious WKA World title - his 4th professional title with four different international sanctioning bodies.

The victory was meaningful for Nawaz as he had lost a bid for the Super Middleweight title in Germany in March of this year. The strong Ramin Abitin defeated Nawaz in his home-town of Munich. With many personal and professional commitments as Canadian Kickboxing President; a coach to a team of elite level athletes; a father of 3 and with a full time career in the volunteer sector; Nawaz has always been challenged to stay focused on his professional kickboxing career.

For this important bout, he hired veteran professional boxing coach - Chris Johnson, the former NABF Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion and 1992 Olympic medallist - to train him for the bout. Nawaz put his commitments in the capable hands of his colleagues while he dedicated 10 weeks to train for this bout. Logging in 4-5 hours of training a day, he prepared like a true professional.

Gary Bonefant was a worthy opponent as the #1 World ranked contender with the ISKA and the current USKBA Intercontinental Champion. He has also hired former World Champion, Tony Ventura to prepare him for this bout. Bonefant also worked with professional boxers in his preparations including Welterweight Boxing Champion Micky Ward.

With the bout being held in Nawaz's home country he had the partisan crowd on his side throughout the bout. A small but vocal American crowd began a 'USA' chant in the middle of the bout, but was deafened by the thousand + Canadians that began the 'CANADA' chant.

In the words Canadian official Vic Provost, 'Muzammal looked like a completely different fighter tonight.' Many of Nawaz's loyal fans were pleasantly surprised at his performance in Charlottetown. An ecstatic Nawaz spoke to the office after the bout, 'I have to thank Chris Johnson for his tremendous coaching and also to my support team of my Osteopath, Gus Kandilias who kept me healthy in training, to my manager Amer Mustafa who always believed I could achieve this moment, and to my inspirational team of amateur athletes on TAZ to whom I owe so much. I also want to thank the President of the WKA - Mr. Paul Ingram who offered this opportunity. I also want to thank the WKA Vice - President - Mr. Brian Crenshaw who has always supported my professional career and provided the officiating for this World Title bout.'

Number 1??..well, its the person who is ranked at number one. Any set of rankings..other than the computerised ones (and they are far perfect, check out Boxrec for their boxing ones) is down to the opinions of those that compile them. So, I suppose the ones in fighters are down to myself and carl cos we compile them.,..but we compile them based on the information at hand and on the results that we are sent and reported in the press, and on the info supplied to us by quite a large network of reputable people who have supported us...and as we said in the beginning, its us cos no one else was!

Can't really say more I don't think, but just to say I posted on this thread becasue having got the backing of fighters mag they are the best start we have so why start elsewhere??

Well thats good for the WFK, but as I say they are meant to be void of association politics, and rankings by any group whether they are the WBC in boxing or the KB groups always are eventually.

All tooing & frowing aside then regarding credibility of members etc etc (which is not actually in question), Is the EKF actually trying to be a governing body rather than a sanctioning body?
By that I mean The British Boxing Board of control or the European Boxing Union who both maintain a decent standard and are not part of the alphabet group in boxing (governing body with more meaning). There are not dozens of British or European title versions to be won, just one.
Unlike the world scene which is diluted to the point of being fairly unimportant (sanctioning body).
I don't question anyone posting here in favour of this collaboration, I am just asking for more information or more importantly a mission statement.
Are you attempting to create a democratic European Kickboxing Board Of Control or a sanctioning body who just does it better than the others. I believe there is a subtle difference

Hi mark have to agree with you there mate what a show that will be 10th march,
mouthwatering fights on the bill,
and dean sugden show,well that will be well run ,as i had the pleasure to work with dean and his team,in november a efk sanctioned title dinner show.what a well run show dean and his team are a credit to kickboxing,and what promoteing shows should be like,dean has a very dedicated team working closely with him right down to moley the photographer.
any show is down to the fights and most of all organisation planning by the promoters,and dean sugdens nailed it!!!!
as sanctioning bodys well this countrys up side down with so many and some trying to sort the mess out,well hats of to you at golden belt as you state mark low sanction fees and real gold belts on offer,dont think any of us other sanctioning bodys can match that , real gold belts must cost a fortune!!!!
good luck to dean and his team on march 10th it will be a great success as they know how it should be done.and good luck to all fighters on the show.
all us sanctioning bodys will go into 2007 with great intentions.
we all have plans in place for next year,so lets just wait and see what happens.

If anyone deserves it you do you have proved to be the best we have at your weight in this country,And should get the chance to test your skills on foreign shores!!!You should of had the chance earlier as you have won british titles , the next step should of been promote you abroad,thats what i will do now,
