Andy Burton wins WFK world title at 64.5kg

I know I’m a bit late with this post but here it is anyway. Andy Burton went to Lecce, Italy on the 10th November to fight for the WFK world title. We were well looked after from start to finish and after 12 round of kickboxing, Andy has picked up the title (by unanimous point decision), so the whole experience has been first rate for us.

Steve East and I are now looking forward to promoting Andy’s first defence of the WFK title in his home town of Sunderland. Hopefully this will take place on 1st March at the Legends Sports Suite and be recorded for Channel 427 TWCfight, part of the Sky Sports Network.

Obviously, we are looking for an opponent for Andy and I am open to suggestions, though WFK President Dell Mann will have the final say in who steps in with Andy. We are also looking for good matches for the under card so anyone who wishes to take part please contact me by E-mail (paul-grieves@orange.net).

Thanks for reading this post

Samir Mohhamed,(france)
Gary Hamilton,(ireland)
Betrand Fleureut(france i think)
Shaun "boom boom" Burton

i rekon andy would do us proud against samir or gary renowed as the best in the world at this weight, also i think boom boom is defending his european title for the second time so i rekon he would be a good challenger

Andy and Shawn have already fought each other more than once, maybe bring the french over and have the 2 Burties fighting one each, get it really international. !!

Well done Andy and all at Spartans, who was it that Andy thought, as that does not look like Deigo Bianco on the photo!

Good look in finding an opponent, i am happy to fight Andy, or anyonelse on the show, but fingers crossed i make a successful defence of my European title this weekend before I can be considered for a world title!

Get in touch with Biggy for matches Paul, had a cracking night out with you guys last time so happy to do it again!

Dan, Johno never came over with us.

Shawn, good luck with your European defence. That sounds like a good idea to me (your next title defence being an eliminator for a shot at Andy). Of course that's up to WFK but I'm happy with it.

We're also on the look out for an opponent for Jamie Moore for the vacant EFK British title. He is 7-1-0. Would big Nige be available? Anyone else from your camp fancy a dodge up for a match?

Hi Locky

Thanks for the congrats. Burty's record:

18 pints of snakebite, 2 bottles of red wine and 6 double JD's (in one sitting!!!) LOL

Roughly (cos I'm not EXACTLY sure) Kickboxing: 15W, 3L, 0D - Boxing: 10W, 3L

To all else

The issue of who Burty fights next is resolved (almost!). WKF are making Shawn's next bout (Shawn "Boom Boom" Burton v Flavien Albe France - Friday 1st December, Newark) an official world title eliminator, so we'll know by Friday night who's coming to Sunderland.

Just to remind everyone, we're looking for a heavyweight for Jamie Moore (100kg, 7W, 1L, 0D) for the vacant EFK British title. The date is (probably) 1st March 2008, the venue Legends, Sunderland

Shawn

Please get a face to face picture of yourself and Flavien and e-mail it to me. I'm going to put a press release in our local Echo tomorrow and I'd really appreciate the picture. Good luck with the bout mate.

I'm reliably informed by Jamie's instructor Steve East, that his record is in fact 9W, 1L, 0D

WFK World title - it's Burton V Burton

I've had confirmation from Dell Man that Shawn retains his title and also status as number 1 contender. The match will happen in Sunderland on 1st March.

Shawn, I've sent our local press an E-mail about this and I've copied you into the mail.

I'll give Big Dave a ring tomorrow night to talk about arrangements for you coming up the day before for the weigh-in etc.

Meanwhile, how about Aaron Robinson V Michael Johnson? 5 round pro fight?

Cheers

Sorry ive been a bit quiet with the posts re the next EFC show as ive just returned from me hols. With ref to Jamie Moore ,he generally weighs in at around 100kg, he currently holds the WUMA European as well as the British , In Feb he won the WACKO British and also holds the WACKO Pro North East title . His fight record stands at 9-1 . Our last EFC show in June this year had around 800 spectators and some cracking bouts with Burty retaining his Wuma world title as well as Jamie retaining his European .

Hi Flavien, not really too sure what your post ment, but I take it you want to fight me again?? More than happy to do it mate, i am sure it would have been a great fight but for the unfortunate clash of heads, which cost you a chance at a crack at my title, no problem with coming over to France for the fight either if you can get it matched??

Over to you now mate!

English guy your weight? There is only Barinder and Andy Burton in England who we want to see you fight.

Get someone to match you with Mohamed Samir!!. Or Gary Hamilton (if he fights full contact again). Thats a super fight!!

Get Paul to make the match for pain and glory as I assume that is what youre hinting at.

Its got to happen Shawn, been going on too long. Next year could be the best yet in the 64k division.

Qasim could still end up there 2008/9, as could Ronnie Clark, and Ricky Glover. That would make things really good fun.

Also be interesting to see what Jason Vassillo can do at this weight.

I was thinking of him then for some reason thought he was 67kg. Is that the match? Whatever happened to that ISKA World Title fight he was supposed to be having did it happen? Ive heard he's awesome would love to see him fight.

How would the rankings look with the addition of his name to them?
Shawn 'Boom Boom' Burton

Ability wise he should go in at number 1, but not been active for a long time, he is fighting for ISKA world title in March and i fight the winner!

He is WKN Pro British Champion. Trains in Rivals Gym. Not sure about his record but think he has only been beaten 3 times. Fought Julien Moyen from France for the WKN European in November. Normally fights at 62 but could fight at any weight between 62-65.

Thats all i really know m8. Hope has gave u some help.
