Shawn

Chill. No six-pack is the new six-pack. The birds round here want someone they can share a candle-lit kebab with. Cashmore offering to split his fucking Snack-a-Jacks, protein bars and low-fat beef jerky just doesn't seem to get them moist. I can't see the Lincoln tail being any more sophisticated...

Read my column in GQ in the future. Please.

Damn right. We in FC don't want to be outdone by the MT brigade for tabloid column inches.

How on Earth can you make Barinder look tubby?

I think the full contact 'trousers n boots' issue is solved. Gay UK pants and bumblebee boots. I think we'd all look dapper.

I can't see Osta taking the news too well, though...

For his sheer determination, sportsmanship and absolute dedication to the sport - not to mention the gutsy performance in March against probably the best Super-lightweight in the world - it's high time B had a high-profile win, and I have a feeling it's going to be in front of his home crowd in Leicester.

Now, I'm off to find a box of tissues. I've got something brown on the end of my nose...

Dale, you forget. I'm a desk jockey. I don't 'step' away from my keyboard. I roll my chair away from it... Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to put some tinfoil over my Internet router. They're watching me through it... And if you'll be so kind as to remember that an ellipsis has three dots. Just three... No less, and certainly no more. Blows to the head are no excuse for poor punctuation. Slobbering or rocking, yes, but poor punctuation, no.

Anyway. There's a kickboxing show in Leicester on June 15th. Everyone really ought to come.

both of these lads have been waiting for this fight for years so expect fireworks frow the 1st bell. B is a great fighter havnt seen him fight for a while but infront of his home crowdim sure will perform. but i cant see him doing the stuff against shawn. shawn is a quality fighter as i no hes my main sparring partner and a natural 10 round fighter hes strong and very busy. the worse thing is you can knock him down but he just gets up and seems to get better from it lol eg..wes fagan fight. So im going with shawn to do the stuff in leicester.

"Also we want to spy on Mick Crossland!!"

Plus you're dying to watch his brother, Justin Crossland. Don't be coy now, Mark.

I wonder where Mick's loyalties will be on that one? Home town vs long lost sibling. Difficult, that.

Looks like a great card Jag.

We will be there in full support!

Good luck to Bee and the Shawn in what promises to be a brilliant dust up between two of the country's best. A real 50/50 fight this one.

Also best of luck to Mick who has a tough assignment against the rough and tuff Oliver Walsh.

Not a bad fight on the card by the looks of it and it will be great also to see Flexy and Smiler back in action and challenging for their English titles.

Good look to all the fighters on the card.

good luck B an Shawn great for the sport no losers in this bout..

good luck to mick getting back on the horse... will be cool to sit back and enjoy mick as a fighter from all at dragonfoot...

shaun is gonna love the look of ian he will be wondering who has the best 6 pack..lol big fight for shaun this only a three rounder but has the trimmings of when he fought ash gammon and became shaun "THE ROCK" law was gonna call him shaun "the sponge" law as the amount he can soak up is unreal... but doesnt have the same effect, and also shaun is not giving away 8k in weight good luck to ian may the best fighter prevail...

but also the winner of andy vs al should be in line for a fight with mick... so good for all to see as they are figthting on the same bill, so the winner good be prospectively english champion in 2 divisions, or both step up for the british as all should be ranked conteders...

all in all happy to finally get on the leicester bill...

markgibbs
Posted: 2008-06-16 05:17:42
Ok, no one put the results up yet, Jag will probably do it later, but here are some.

Barrinder v Shawn Win for Barrinder.

Great fight and had many different angles to it. Either of them could win it and both nearly did in an explosive start to the fight. Barrinder found his range in the later rounds, winning with a 9th round stoppage.

Got to be a rematch at some stage, please!!

Mick v Oliver Walsh Draw. Mick not on top form this time.

Arron v Tommy Mcafferty, Win tommy with a stoppage in 2 or 3.

Al Osta v Andy Pollard, Win Pollard, great fight.

Leicester won all but one of the fights on the night so you can work that out from the above card.

It was good to see everyone from the kickboxing social club in attendance. Sell out crowd once again confirming Jags status as the richest man in the sport. Lol.

thanks jag more than happy to help out were ever i can,

as for mick as for any fighter the first fight back after a defeat is sometimes the hardest fight not against the opponent but to the demons we may harbour, mick is now back on the horse, and no doubt will pick up the pace and raise the bar in his next fight, what i saw on the night was not what he is capable of so for any to write him off would be making a very wrong asumption... in the last 4 months mick has gone through many carreer changing things, which there are new buggs to work out, he is in capable hands and i have every faith the mick crossland of old will be back into ko form, as a friend i would ask people not to put mick under the hammer so quickly he is after all human, we as any are quick to bull some one up but are twice as fast to rip them down...

but to shawn an bee again wow i am personnaly closer to shawn and god did me proud the fight was a great match and could have gone either way at any time, just bee landed the cracking right hand which took its toll shawn showed great heart to get up and carry on but be stepped on the gas and would not let up, b did the best thing he could and fair play definatley e rematch any one would be gagging to see again next time in linoln so shawn can get the trumpets out for his entrance...

al v andy, great fight al did everything he could but i missed the first fight this i saw and was how i could it being with andy having the higher work rate and variety trevor the game plan was spot on and credit to you sorry forgot to congratulate you on the night as we were both hounding jag..lol al great performance an yes can see bright things for you, im sure yourself and mick will have a cracking fight once the crossland camp arrange all criteria

aaron arrrgh love you mate got stuck in and raised the bar for yourself... man the irish worst iv ever fought they dont care ya can hit em an hit em but they just keep coming...

well done to all who fought my guys we all enjoyed it no excuses we lost fair and square credit to jag

more than happy to put my guys on any of you shows jag

p.s how were the titties..

!!!!!!!!!Incredible!!!!!!!!!

Has to go Into my top five full contact fights ever list.

Barinder and Shawn lived up to all the hype and then some.
Great entrance from Bee that made the hairs stand up on the back of your neck and I can only remember being as excited by an entrance when Fran Zuccala fought John Orchard the first time or when Dean Sugden fought Lex Easden in Newark.
Sometimes the fight doesn't live up to the hype or the entrance but in Leicester on Sunday night this definitely was not the case on Sunday. The fact that three titles were on the line in a winner takes all fight made it even more interesting.

Both fighters went at it straight away and after a close first round Barinder drew first blood in the second dropping Shawn. Shawn shook it of well and in the third and took advantage of Bee's over eagerness to score the knockout and landed a peach of a punch to drop Barinder. Barinder bounced straight up onto his feet but looked unsteady and done really well to ride the storm for the remainder of the round and stay out of trouble,
I can't be 100% sure but I thought at the end of that round Shawn momentarily took a knee after a shot but a knockdown was not scored. Would need to see the tape.
The first 3 rounds were the kickboxing equivalent to Hagler V Hearns and had the crowd on their feet.

A change of tactics from Barinder in the 4th saw him turn into the slick boxer fighting off the backfoot with great lateral movement and picking up his points of the jab. I have never seen him do this before and it showed a completely different dimension to his fighting style.
Shawn for his part was looking to get close to unleash but was struggling to close the gap.
Barinder made great use of the footsweep taking Shawn off balance and down a few times making it even more difficult to set his feet and look for the big equaliser.
This pattern continued until the 9th when Bee landed a beautiful right hand like a bullet from a gun that dropped Shawn. Shawn done well to beat the count but Barinder sensed victory and moved in for the kill.
After Shawn went down again referee John Blackledge waved it off leaving Bee the winner by 9th round stoppage.

What really impressed me was the tactics of Barinder. Have to say Jag, your not often right but on this occasion you got it bang on mate lol

Both fighters were brilliant.and gave the fans a fight they will never forget.

Respect to Big Dave and Jag for making it happen and Respect to Shawn and Bee for giving there all.

!!!!!!!!!Incredible!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for your kind words pleased you enjoyed the fight, bit down at the minute cos i hate losing, but nowt but respect to Bee he punished me for making to mistake of dropping my hands, always new it was going to be a hard fight, but really believed we would be walking away with all the belts, would love a rematch before the end of the year, theres lots of shows on so summin should be easy to sort!

alot of people have asked me why i defended my european title after only winning it in may, (5 weeks prior and I have a year to defend), but we were confident we could win, but also we didnt want to sit on belts and I thought if i cant win the british/commonwealth, whats the point in being european champion?? regret defending it now though lol

anyway thanks everyone for your kind words, they mean a lot at this point cos i am really down, and my mam and dad have done one to mexico yesterday morning for two weeks so cant even go to me mam for a cuddle lol

unlucky shawn, sounded like a wicked fight and you should be proud. There's not many people who defend their titles within a year, let alone a month! And then they hand pick who they fight! You've always fought the best, never ducked anyone, always been willing to defend your titles, THAT is was makes you a true champion of the sport. You may have lost this fight, but you've won the respect of everyone for it. You'll be back wiser and stronger next time, remember a loss to a great fighter is better than 10 wins over poor opponents! If there's a rematch in Lincoln I'll def be there mate!

one of the best shows i've ever been to.

brilliant organisation, fights went like clockwork, venue looked great, everybody seemed to love it.

big up to all the Leicester boys with great wins.

B was something else on Sunday night. Showed heart, determination, great ringcraft and wicked punching power.

props to Shawn Burton too, it takes 2 to make a great fight, he got a massive cheer from everyone in the venue after the fight, which says it all really.

Big respect to Grandmaster Johal for putting on such a good night, must have been a massive headache to organise, to pull it off in such great style whilst cornering 10 fighters is a great achievement.
And he did all this whilst having a blocked nose and wearing a nylon jumpsuit. What a legend.
