Cotto TKO 11th with plenty of action from both sides beforehand!

If theres a TO it will be Margherito who scores imo. Although i fancy Cotto on points but is a genuine pick em. HBO's build up gives an insight. It seems all is not well in the Cotto camp...

Tough to call. Cotto's cousin is one of our fighters so I'll ask him tomorrow what he thinks :)

every time i think something about cotto he turns it compleatly on its head and proves me wronge, he has hands of granite and silky too, i thought he would get a boxing lesson off of the awesome combo puncher mosely but he out boxed him, i had 50 quid on mosely to win and after that vowed never to bet against cotto again, hes got everything and AM is a solid guy but i think cotto will love being attacked margarito will get frustrated with the sharp power of cotto try unloading bombs and walk into a monster counter left hook early,

The height differnce is alot, really don,t think Cotto can ko Magarito,Zab took lots of shots and Cotto is not a one punch artist neither is Am this will be a war an intelligent war all the same,i want AM to win because err dunno just because agree with you though Paul i thought Mosley was going to win also he fights Mayorga in October lets see how Shane handles his disgusting trash talk x

Weigh in pics..AM looks lot bigger than Cotto.

The more I think about this one the more I lean towards Margarito. A few years back in the Welterweights he was regarded as the most dangerous of the lot and as a result was blatantly avoided by the big £4£ names.
The way he dismantled Cintron was brilliant. Looking like the terminator walking through everything Kermit had to offer and then systematically taking him apart when he started to fade.
Cotto although showing moments of brilliance in his career so far has also show moments of vulnerability shook up on more that a few occasions by lighter hitters than Margarito.
I agree with Mick, don't think Cotto will stop him but think he might have the skills to stay out of trouble and box smart to see a close points win.
That said I'm going to stick my neck out and say Margarito via stoppage win in the 7th.

Whatever the result this is for me the most interesting and exciting match up for a long time and that is including the Mayweather / Hatton / De La Hoya fights. I actually wouldn't blink at paying £14.99 pay per view for this one for a change.

Alot of writers on sites such as Eastsideboxing.com have gone for Margarito i am not 100% sure hence me not agreeing the bet...but its tempting...ah ok 20 from Vinsters x

im not betting because when i do i lose, i was right about the euro footy and

Ive been having this sneaky feeling that Margerito's gone pull this one off all week but i think fightings all about timing and i believe its Cotto's time so i'm gonna stick to my guns too and am picking Cotto to come thru the shaky moments to nick a very close hard fought decision and cement his superstar status. I agree with Neil tho, best match up around for ages!

Nice warm up bout with Canchila getting up off the canvas in round 3, to take a points win.

After seeing the behind-the-scenes footage I think I am gonna go with Antonio Margarito. Cotto looks to have blown-up quite a bit from the weigh-in pics above.

Who else is staying up?

im wronge again, il drop you a big drink vinny x

That was mint!
I think Cotto out-styled him in the first 4/5-rounds, but that unrelenting come-forward style took its toll.

Margerito 11th round ko. and dont check time of my prediction.

Am,s left uppercut was so damaging to Cotto, felt sorry for him in 11th round he must have felt he was in hell vs a Terminator like AM,whats next for him maybe a rematch with Williams..or DLH he will beat both he is monster...or PBF might return..now that would make me smile x
vinny
Posted: 2008-07-27 03:10:23
You can,t be a tiger at being a tiger...Cotto tried in later rounds, depends on him now because them fights ruin fighters well most at least,Cotto was great x

I think there is talk of a rematch in November.

great fight....Margeritos chin is outrageous
osta
Posted: 2008-07-27 06:21:11
agreed, that chin is beyond ludicrous, Cotto landed some massive shots and Margarito was jogging towards him the whole fight?!

i'm gonna have nightmares of a skinny Mexican monster with a little moustache chasing me now
vinny

that was the best fight ive seen in a while. margarito was just coming forward non stop like a machine, cotto's nose was broken in the 2nd round and he was swallowing a lot of blood. you could see him spitting it out as the fight was going on
muay thaison
Posted: 2008-07-28 12:20:49

One of best fights ive ever seen, thought Cotto was awesome too as you expect but it must be demoralizing to give everything and still see your opponent running toward you unhurt and almost unmarked
I cant see how anyone can beat him after watching that (first time ive seen him). yet his record shows 5 defeats. Were these at different weight or somet.
vinny
Posted: 2008-07-28 16:34:59
Santos beat him on a cut...paul williams beat him last years close points they i think will rematch soon, others was earlier on in career now he will be amazing x
