Anybody know the line up? Buzz works the doors (or used to) in Bishop Auckland, he'd be a good bet.

Yes Steve Petit did win but only just, there were two fighters out of the 16 contenders who were in my opinion the strongest favorites all night and that was Steve Petit(B-HAM) and Wes Smith(Y-SHIRE)both in the final, there was a bit of an upset with one of the decisions which were all decided by the referee who seemed a bit one sided towards the manchester lads (surprise surprise, manc promoters) there was a 22 stone coloured lad from sheffield and he was big and i aint talking muscle either, but he could bang looping overhand punches, he destroyed the manc lad to the point were the lad virtually gave up and the referee gave it to the manc big upset, but justice was served the manc got banged out in the next round, gets to the final four and one the four has a dislocated shoulder so the 22 stone lad gets put back into the comp i think his name was Mizengo Ikombe, so the yorkshire lad wes smith (14 stone) is matched with mizengo (22 stone) really tough fight for the yorkshire lad but he stopped mizengo in round 3, but when Wes gets out the ring he collapses gets rushed in to the back by paramedics, Steve Petit fought another manchester lad in the final four and Petit stopped him i think it was the third, so the yorkshire lad makes a recovery and wants to carry on to the final, the second round of the final Wes (yorkshire) drops Petit(B-ham)for an 8 count Petit gets up and Wes jumps straight onto him for the finish and during Wes's punch combo Petit lets a punch go and drops Wes like a bad habbit(asleep) fight over STEVE PETIT wins the HARDEST DOORMAN IN BRITAIN he recieved his championship belt and £7,500 cash and the Wes Smith recived £2,500 runner up prize, there were a few celebrities there including Matthew Hatton and Lip out of Shameless lol, there was T.V cameras there and one the film crew was telling me that it might be aired on channal five sometime in the mere future, they are now looking for contenders for next years event...

Steve and me come from the same club originally. Used to work together back in the day. He is from Walsall and used to box pro at about super middle back then.

He fought 3 hard fights against one of the Rafferties from Wolverhampton then gave up boxing to start his own door firm which he has had ever since.

Richie Woodhall trained him for this and he is a lot bigger now so I look forward to seeing him soon to find out about it.

he was never more than a journey man really with way more losses than wins but there are some good guys on his cv

http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=6382&cat=boxer

he was/is also very well known for taking his boxing into the pub car park, a hard man!

There are quiet a few Rafferty's and as Paul says, as famous for fighting out of the ring as in it.

It was Nigel Raffery. I went to all 3 fights and Nigel was as tough as nails. All were Midlands pro titles. Steve just could not get past him.

Steve must weigh about 96k now and would have been about 78k then. Done a lot of rounds with him and fair play for taking this comp.

Always though his brother Gregg was a better boxer back then but maybe I was wrong. Lol

Mizengo always told me he has only 19 stone LOL
Tell you what, for a large guy he can move like a lightweight.
Ive personally seen him outbox and outmaneouvre lightweights and welterweights in sparring!!!
