Thai's skip with the heavy Thai ropes on them at their gyms and they look ok. I guess it's all good provided the ropes you're using ain't sharp and metal.

Alot of the bigger gyms in Bangkok now have matts ie Rob Coxs gym and Kaesamwrit... and they look ok after all the skipping on them. I would be careful as many matts would prob not be up to it in my opinion.

Mats? Mats?! Lucky Bastards! When we were young we used to skip on't M62 in rush hour traffic with 3"steel pipe sections threaded on a rope for 36 hours a day and get bread n drippin fer tea if we were lucky. Mats? Mats? you say! You tell kids today and they think dont believe you.

depends on the ropes you are using if they are normal light ropes then its fine but i dont let the guys use the heavy thai ropes on the gig mats as it takes the surface off of them.

To add a bit more info - the matts in Thailand at Kaesamwrit were skipped on for 30 min per day 6 days per week with Thai ropes and I saw the same matts about 4/5 years later and they were fine. I dont think many of the softer matts would hold up to that...

Been skipping on the Jigsaw mats for 6 years now and still no issues. They'll hold out i'm sure. Not sure about the judo ones though.

yeah mine are fine to after a year of skipping so seems to be majority OK to skip. You will get the marks of the heavy tube ropes but once you mop that dissapears.
