mayweather is prob one of the greats

But is mayweather a bully who loves fighting smaller guys , marquez , hatton & poss pacman,,

Fancy weiging in 2 pounds over at 146 for a catchweight fight at 144 he had no intention of getting it off..

marquez has come up from 135...

Perhaps pretty boy should next fight somebody normally about 10 pound heavier than himself..

SUGAR SHANE MIGHT GIVE HIM A SCRAP..

yeah it all seems calculated & he didn't want to give up any advantage, it's not like he didn't have the time to shift the 2lbs with the 2 month delay...i also don't believe that he's a small ww..he looked pretty big in there

he's definately got some great skills but will he fall short when he fights someone with the same game plan as himself? boil down and take advantage of the smaller guy lol maybe i'm harsh but if he wants to be great and not a cherry picker then i want to see him step up a weight class or 2 lol

i love pac to bits but i don't see how he'll beat pbf simply for the fact that floyd doesn't want a scrap, it's the way it's meant to be though hitting the other guy without getting hit but i'd rather watch a fighter like pacman any day of the week that steps out of his comfort zone and takes risks in the fight

Got to agree, I was a little disappointed with PBF, Marquez is a great fighter but PBF didn't really hunt him down. But then i suppose its all about the win.

Marquez hit him with some nice shots but giving to much weight away espec considering his real weight.

Was it me or did PBF looked scared of Sugar Shane!!!!?????

Vinster...... Whats your take on it?

Mayweather did what he does and thats win agree with Shane may give him a tussle but Mosley can,t handle a great jab see Cotto and Forrest, has Pacman a chance maybe but he won,t win he is just not Mayweather,do this enjoy him because they all pack in at the right time or not but this i do believe he is the best and maybe of all time xx

i don't agree with him being the greatest of all time...potentially yeah but he doesn't push himself like the true greats & pbf can't complain of a dry division etc like calzaghe...i just read on esb a suggestion that they should blank him until he steps up to the plate and doesn't look for easy money lol i agree with that and perhaps it will bring him out of his safety first approach
i'm not after him fighting with his face first but i'd like to see him really put a stamp on his legacy, apples and oranges but pacman demolished the same opponents as floyd whilst giving up weight, & pac at an even weight had marquez up & down like a yoyo...i just don't see him finishing fights rather than letting the other guy get himself beat lol maybe i'm well off as it is called boxing and that's what he did
his uncle was the black mamba but floyds more like blackadder with his cunning plans

marquez for long peiods of there fights totally schooled pacman and was unlucky not to get the decisions IMO.PBF destroyed hatton as a fighter before pacman got near him. As for taking on smaller fighters he took on a very sharp de la hoya who was way bigger and more powerful than him. possibly the best of all time defo the best since leaonard. I bet theres no one in the history of boxing who wud fancy fighting him thats for sure

Whittaker i believe in his prime would beat buthim its a never know story x
billybigconkers
Posted: 2009-09-20 09:32:13
have to agree to disagree on that lol if you buy into the floyd hype i think he caught odh a couple of years past his sell by date from his prime and he still gave him a run for his money, i also think hatton was in that fight for a bit but the ref stopping and starting took him out of his stride, i also don't think marquez schooled pacman...had pacman run away for the fights then it'd have been a different story but pac was ready to stand and trade with marquez, i know floyd looked a step ahead of marquez last night but jmm was out of his division, pacman was moving when he wanted to and at points was tapping marquez on the shoulder to tell him where he was...like a matador & el toro 7 that was an even playing field

Agree with Vinny enjoy him while he is still fighting one of if not THE greatest ever, along with Sugar Ray Leonard.
vinny
Posted: 2009-09-20 13:37:15
What can he do really? he has ducked who? but paul williams was a threat and he went and lost to quintana its all about the viewers too Berto would be good but he,d beat him easy the mans blessed he has that x factor next up is Mosley providing he beats Clottey on boxing day, like or hate him he is the best xx
billybigconkers
Posted: 2009-09-20 13:53:06
i think he's got skills vinny, no denying that but he doesn't fight the best..so i think that would be a good start, otherwise why doesn't he go in there with a middleweight etc...he's always looking for the easiest fights for the most money, when he starts fighting the best in his own weight class or stepping up in weights and figting the best in the next division then i'll give him the respect he's due, cotto, clottley, margareto(before the loaded gloves) mosely etc then i'll give him respect but fighting people past their best or with him having distinct weight advantages then i can't give him the level of respect that others do
i'm not saying he's crap but he's no all time great at the minute, never mind the best ever

got to agree with billy...

Mayweather has got ridiculous skills but he was much the bigger man last night, Marquez didn't belong welter, he's only a superfeather for f*cks sake.

He'll beat Pac man, who isn't big enough either, Mayweather is a big welter these days.

Mosley fight wont prove much, would have been a good fight at lightweight, Mosley was a terror at that weight and could well have knocked Floyd the hell out.

Leonard would have done him, Pernell matched him for skills, Hearns maybe ko'd him, Duran at lightweight would have eaten him alive.

he has fought the best and anyone else he hasnt fought maybe they dont want to fight him you ever thought of that. its a pity when a rare talent gets slagged down cos there hasnt been a talent like this in boxing for a long time. forget the size thing he made a true modern great in marquez look very very ordinary no other boxer on the planet has done that and im not just talking about power he beat him to the punch everytime

Its all guessing isn,t it the old would spiderman beat the hulk..lol,yes true i take some points but he is an all time great no doubts,Mosley has called him out live so with his undoubted ego has has to..or he,ll lose face in front of the fans!! he started at superfeather weight Dela hoya was bigger at 154,Whittaker i believe would have beaten he because of the style and stance yet it never happened different eras i love you Osta and billy because you know your stuff xxx Pacman would get smashed because he beat Marquez and he struggled twice with lets be honest Marquez has made a shed so fair play and apart from Mayweather where would he make money? as Pacman stated he won,t fight him again, plus i read Mayweather got dropped in sparring i was talking to Liam about this too it was 7 times? now what i find is why 7 ? not just once? forget the kids name but he is fighting Tim bradley for his title..oooh i need a life x

yeah you're right vinny, it's all conjecture really none of us know how he would do in a different era, but it's good fun guessing and arguing about it ha ha!

It was Lamont Peterson meant to have had a right sparring war with Floyd, they were doing 10 x 4 min rounds with 30 secs rest apparently!
i love gym sparring stories, they get well out of hand and there's always about 50 different versions from various blokes who happened to be sweeping up the gym at the time it's hilarious.

Have you seen much of the Cuban Rigondeaux Vin? wicked fighter and he's meant to be laying his sparring partners out cold all over the place

PBF made marquez look totally ordinary and marquez is top class and thats the end of the story love or hate pbf the man is awesome and he would school sugar shane and that crap at the end was a total set up. Floyd was overwieght but marquez made a pretty penny off that too because it was part of the fight contract that if either came in overweight they forfeited some purse to the other heard $600 000 being talked about as the amount probably bull but who knows
billybigconkers

lol & i gotta agree with you osta lol :D

would be great to have a time machine eh

lol yeah it's all good fun i think spiderman would tie the hulk in knots though lol
pbf's a definate great as he's 40-0 now & did take tougher fights in his early days but i just think he's looking for the easy options now lol i wouldn't be suprised if he just blanked mosely lol he doesn't really care what other people think and has his own agenda lol he's as elusive in interviews as he is in the ring...i still think pac vs marquez at the weights they are now would be over within 6 with pac the winner
i don't give pac much hope against floyd at 147 but at 140 i think it'd be a bit more competitive lol but i doubt floyd would stick to the agreed weight and just come in wherever he wanted knowing that pac would still take the fight for his fans
that peterson sounds tasty and 1 to watch lol being a doubting thomas at times though i wonder if he's under mayweather promotions & it's a rehearsed leak for moolah/interest..i'll be watching out for him though, bradley's pretty decent 7 underated, i think he's imroving all the time
& btw you're a star vinny & i always love reading your posts
all the best

only stumbling block will be money, both marquee names, both will want biggest purse.

Scott had the "pleasure" to spar with the Cuban Rigondeaux whilst at the Wild Card. He came to the gym to spar with a mexican, but knocked him out, so they asked Scott to spar with him. Scott said he was very good, and also very tricky, kept using his knees to try knock scott of balance. Great experience.

I got a bit bored with the Mayweather fight, he's to good! All the boxing forums are asking him to fight someone who is naturally his weight though!

Pacman will be to fast for Cotto!

Posted: 2009-09-22 04:02:07
this will be pacmans hardest test for a while he fought david diaz who is very limited also de la hoya who was past it and left it all in the gym and hatton who mayweather had finished as a world class force so cotto will be his hardest test for a while but has cotto got another war in him maybe not so i would go for pacman but it wouldnt be a major shock if cotto did it.

Cotto is left handed and finds southpaws hard its pacmans left straight that will damage and movement he has superior speed in each area x

Cant imagine mayweather smashing pacman, personally i think hell beat him as hes to big and to go up in weight is one thing but to meet someone as brilliant as mayweather whos a natural at that weight is something else. But cant see anyone smashing pac, people thought hatton would do him as too big look what happened. Thought the farce at the end by mosely and the interviewer was bang out of order and disrespectful.Bigger or not he took piss out of a great fighter and should have his moment of glory
