Hi Stephen, I was interested into taking Cassie to European IFMA on this date, but since no one has bothered getting back to me, I'll be happy to give the juniors their day. Can you post what the weight categories and age groups are please?

stephen5255
Posted: 2010-03-26 11:38:44
Stuart
i Will confirm it for you but i think the 16 and over would be head contact but not below

Craig
you can only fight in one categorie

keepyerguardup
we can't move as it was the only time we could get the venue plus its
a holiday weekend giving everyone a day to rest after it

craigtabor
Posted: 2010-03-26 12:34:20
say 2 end up meeting in the finl one is 15 and the other is 17 at the same weight how will that work if there is no head contact for under 16ns

Cheers

i will cross that bridge when we come to it and speak to both camps

Posted: 2010-03-26 14:00:58
can you not put all the 16 and 17 year olds in a difrent catogory as it would be a bit unfair if a 15 year old ends up drawn with a 17 year old due to the no head contact rull for under 16ns i think that might be a better idea only a sugestion Stephen

Cheers

we will listen to all ideas yes we may be able to split the group
if there is enough enter in that age group

A lot of weight categories and age groups, unlike the junior British Championships, I do not think Scotland is likely to have such a vast amount of kids taking part, I would love to proved wrong! Assuming there is only 1 junior in the category, do they have to move up to the next category to get a match?
stephen5255
Posted: 2010-03-27 09:24:24
Stuart

you maybe be right but we really dont want 5kg difference in a kids fight if we
can help it and that is why we have so many weights we are hoping that all
juniors in scotland take part no matter what club they belong to
as i start to get the forms coming in we can confirm all the categories

After my fights I`ll contact all clubs who have shown an interest in this event and together we`ll draught up a set of rules which we can all agree to.

NorthAyrshireMT
Posted: 2010-03-27 11:09:28
Yes Stephen, it would be great to have every club in Scotland have their juniors on the show, not just the very best juniors, but most the kids who have good potential so as they can gain good experience and be stronger for future shows. Wish you all the best for this and hope this event becomes a annual competition, bigger and better with each passing year.

Posted: 2010-04-08 10:45:36
Ok boys and girls can those of you who have expressed an interest in attending this tournament please get an entry form asap!! The tournament will be open to anyone holding a recognised Martial arts licence and who is 17years and under.

The reason were staging this tournament is because the last time we staged a junior fight show I got 96 names!! It may not be as big as the U.K open, but if everybody puts their support behind it I think it can become an annual showcase event in Scotland!!!

Forms can be downloaded from our site, www.obmuaythaigym.com or by email from myself Stevie white or Kirsty Mc Intosh!!! We can also send you posters of the event to display in your clubs and gyms.

Weve already had 50 names so get your own clubs inolved and lets make it a good day for junior fighters!!!Cheers.

As a parent I hope everyone that is a junior in Scotland will compete in this.

Last year I went down to the British one and it was a complete shambles with some of the fighters not even getting a fight, it was a disgrace to Thai Boxing.

I'm sure with people like Stevie and Kirsty organising this that it will be a great success and all fighters will be treated with the respect that they deserve and they will be given the appropriate time to show of their skills.

As always and I hope others will volunteer to give Stevie all the help that he needs to make this day a success.

Good Luck to everyone that takes part.

Just to update you
we have had a lot of 16-17yrs olds entering so have decided to allow
head contact in this category but as with all Junior Fights
head guards must be worn we will also have a paramedic at the show
to cover this.
Also due to this being a holiday weekend the sports centre swiming pool is free to enter so any parents bring other children to the fights can use this facility

Well done to Caz, Wee Martin and Bolt (Squirrel) and all the other fighters from O'Bs Gym especially Ainsley who fought someone apparently 20kg heavier, she was so brave. I thought Martin and John's fight was excellent and once again really close. A shame what happened to John in the final against Michael but we r all glad he is okay, it was looking to be a really good fight.

Really good day, well organised and all the junior fighters were a credit to the sport and their clubs. Well done Stevie, Kirsty and John for such a successful day.

Firstly, well done to ALL the junior fighters who took part yesterday's brilliant championships. Proud of Billy in the -25s, taking gold with only a couple of months training, and his wee opponent from grangemouth was ace! Natasha's fight with Brooke was excellent, so chuffed for her, then for her to take gold after such a hard first fight was excellent!!! Lastly, congratulations to the organisers who made yesterday such a huge success. It was good to see some good fighters from England, hopefully a lot more next year. As I said earlier in this thread, I hope this event grows bigger and better with each passing year!
