As an aside, I was listening to some N.Soul toons on You Tube last night, and all of a sudden a link appeared with your mush on it ??!! Think it was something to do with a Paul O'Grady show ?? There were a few of you 'slipping and a sliding' on stage with Mr O'Grady hamming it up in the middle. WTF was all that about ?????? :-)

Seriously though, my one regret in life was missing the Wigan Casino era. Only being 45, I was just on the back end of this magical time. A few of my older friends use to catch the late train from Burnley Barracks train station for the all-nighter. God, was I jealous !! I still remember them chucking back copious amounts of beer and whisky on the station, as you couldn't drink in the Casino (although I believe Purple Hearts were readily available once inside :-)). Wish digital cameras were around back then as the bell-bottom jeans were immense and I could probably bribe some of the lads not too publish them nowadays.
I personally still attend regular NS nights at Barnoldswick,Padiham and Burnley .... they have a 'sprung' dance floor at the Kierby Hotel/Burnley, and a massive dance floor so it's great to see all the middle-aged men and women strutting their stuff on there. TBH, a lot of them can still do the back-drops,spins,high kicks etc .... although talc powder is banned !!!
You've a great nightlife over your way, and one of my best friends lives in Horwich so have had a few good nights in Bolton/Wigan myself. Still, I wish there was a Wigan Casino left to have a great all-nighter at. The nearest we get to it nowadays is at The King Georges Hall at Blackburn. Not sure if you've ever been there, but it is a great event. Only happens (to my knowledge) once a year. Why not pop along next time its on, and bring your cleberity mates with you. :-)

I dont think the UKMF will sanction an a class fight at the IKON, the ring is to small and you cant put a bigger one in as Bolton Council wont let you.

sandy needs local name to head line !! we have done it 3 times for him, twice with dait and once with skeer and 3 shows were packed out !!

darren phillips has a valid point re the 16ft ring and a A class fight isnt the best !! but it isnt the council objecting , you just cant physically get anything bigger in !!

Will just have to keep the cans chilled.

Spoke with mi' pops Sandy, and he's got Nick Sinclaire at your disposal for IKON VI. Nick lost by a split decision on IKON V, and only took the fight the same morning of the event. He fought at 100Kg if memory serves, but is planning on coming down to 90Kg or thereabouts.
One of his other fighters is still potted up with a broken leg and wont be in any shape to perform, and as mooted above, I'm not sure what's in store for Ryan with the possible/probable bout mid-november.
Will keep you informed should anything change, but Jussy will no doubt be the first to hear from Ken.

Here lies the problem with shows. £25 & £35 tickets for a show with no A class fights on whatsoever!

Shame on you Sandy and shame on everyone who supports it and lets you get away with it!!

It should be a legal requirement to have to print the purses these guys and girls are going to get for the very hard work they are going to put in! And don't give me they are only novice and B class. You don't seem to mind charging A class prices for tickets but I bet you ain't paying A class purses??

I feel sorry for all the fighters in the UK who train hard, train professionally and then get used has mere pawns just so people like you Sandy can enjoy their 6 weeks in Thailand in December!

Fighters are the life blood of this sport to get the message across to the public! I do hope you are going to see them right on these prices.

You can come back at me with anything you want to say I'm mad is an understatement. When are you going to put something back in to the sport you claim to love until your dying days??? Instead of take, take, take out!!

nigel i agree we fighters should get payed better we put are lifes on the line in there for very little reward, but if fighters took a stand and asked for more instead for agreeing to fight for peanuts maybe the sport could move forward

Gavin,I think Sandy gets it in the neck more because his presence is on here a lot LOL and his adverts for his shows.
Your right not just Sandy does this,loads have shows and interclubs then go to Thailand or some other jaunt 2 weeks later... It is very hard and stressful to put these shows on i would imagine and everybody needs and deserves a holiday! We all do and work(if you have a job these days!)
It is the fact though that is what happens that is niggling Nigel i'd say.The fighters should get paid more and what makes it worse is Sandy says on his flyers/tickets/on the night it's in aid of bolton hospice,Sandy what percentage of your takings are going to this charity(one close to my heart btw)
I think £15 is a fair price for C and B class fights with no "names" on the show.Daz Phillips show at Heywood was mainly C and B class and it was only £15 and was only a few years back.
People have less money than ever and out of work,so realistic prices have got to be seen.

Top and bottom of it is,If you want to go to the show go...If you don't or can't...then don't.

Another great thing about this show is that a fight card has been put up !!!

and chalky i go Thailnd Every year same time year in year out,And its Not from Proffit of the show, as Ive saved up all my Holidays i Havent had ( been in gym "Every bank Holiday and Easter This Year")
and saved all years also and already paid for Thailand a few weeks ago, so you and whoever thinks they pay for Holidays better think again, Promoters Need a Holiday after a show coz they are "Burnt out, stressed and Tired"
I know i dont have to explain myself, but then to some people you do !!!!

ive been relentless for weeks n weeks and esp: re: this last Fight i canot match i actualy "hate" LETTING PEOPLE DOWN ! More than being let down by others to me ! and its Getting me mad and stressed im letting Darren Phillips lad down, i had some1 and they pulled out, ive spent the last 8 days every hour i can spare on this show and on this last particular fight and Really dont like losing to the fact i cant get him matched :-((((((((((
I had 3 let downs after another way back in the day when i was fighting so i know what its like to be let down its Horrible !

unsold tickets due to weather and no sale from gyms closed and
massive reduced classes ( me too down by half ) people not able to get to their respective gyms all over UK

so guess the Charity and me will suffer eh !!!

I'm going to do my best to just write constructive points down then you can see how it looks

The show is not in aid of Bolton Hospice. If it was then ALL the money from the show would go to it not just a small amount. I commend the donation to them 100 times over but the correcting wording just be. "We will be supporting Bolton Hospice with this show"

People only have a go at you because (and I really believe this to be the case) For years and years and years and years and years. You never admitted to making a penny from MT it was all the "The love of the sport" When in fact there has always been big numbers around. Everyone to my knowledge who's ever had a show as never hidden the fact that they are to make money. That is 100% how it should be. But you have always denied it.

You don't have to justify anything to me or anyone else but looking at the fight card on this show tells me one thing. Low fight purses!! Now if that was linked with low ticket prices then fair enough, but it isn't. Low fight purses matched to high ticket prices equal big money returns. Now I say Ikon will hold 900 you say 600 so lets go 750. Lets calculate at the lowest ticket price. That will take in to account ringside, VIP, booths, freebies etc etc and on that I think I'm being really generous. That amounts to 750 x £25 = £18750 revenue!!! Minus your £500 for Bolton hospice and I reckon the bills on this show are about £7000 ish.

The figures won't be accurate but they won't be far away.

So, my question to you is this....How can you say you love the sport you want to see it progress open it to the wider public. Make people more aware of it when you are putting Novice, C & B class fighters on and charging A class prices! What is the reasoning and justification behind this. Im sure there will be a lot of people interested in the answer

Even at £15 a ticket this show would make profit!

To answer your question,we lent the money to go to Thailand to go on our honeymoon and people gave us money as wedding gifts.
I have nothing to hide on that score.

Nigel was my 1st instructor and i like the bloke.

A Big Thank you to All The Fighters well done & Instructors who made the show possible & thanks to Alex Forman who took the heavyweight fight on 3 days notice, if you haddn't excepted the fight against Kal it would not have happened, so thanks once again.
