supprised to see "fighters" taking pot shots at a fellow ring sport fighter. Is this because you had lots of faith in him and you feel let down or ic simply that great british mentality off knocking anyome regardless of what success they achieve? Naz, bruno, harrison all spring to mind. It seem that there is honour amongst thieves but not amongst fighters.

point proved in the 3rd round though really, he's won a gold medal and I'd be first in the queue to congratulate him on that but like I say....useless and should have never got the opportunity to fight Haye imo

I think peoples expectations were built up after all the trash-talk and self-publicism about how he was a changed fighter and how he was gonna shake up the world. And despite a glorious amateur record and a gold medal at the olympics he just cant cut-it in the pro world.

Hmmmm.... Interesting.

I've never understood how anonymous posters could ever criticize anyone. I mean, you're pretty much all cowards yourselves, right?

james king Naz and bruno were really popular naz only really got slagged off when he stopped putting the effort into the training and bruno was a tryer he gave it a real go the exact opposite of harrison. Harrison has been telling us how great he is for 10 years without backing it up doesnt that make him fair game? Been british doesnt mean your above any form of criticism they still have to be true to the ppl who put there hands in there pockets like i did the other week to watch him on box office

I can understand the public's frustration but the way he's been demonised for not performing as good as the public exect seems to be a bit harsh.
I've got a question; if one of your stable mates went out and had by their standards a poor fight would you slate them or would you console them and remind them of their achievements?
I'm prety sure I already know the answer to that question.
Noi666, as respected fighter and coach what would you think of someone saying deroritory (spelling?)comments about one of your fighters, after they failed to perform to the standard expected? please don't take that as personal dig, because it's not. I directed that question to you as you're a respected coach and fighter who is able to engage in adult debate and I am genuineley wanting your feedback.
Best post of the day Brian.

i think the shots at harrison come from him being fooking useless. i cant believeve you even compared him to bruno or naz..
bruno had a big heart and could hit.. unfortunately if he got hit he went down like a german bomber. naz was awesome but hated because of his attitude...
Harrison however has no heart and a glass jaw.not much going for him really.

people aren't slating him just for having a bad fight, it's more because in the build up he made it sound like he was going to REALLY pull it out of the bag and become world champion then didn't even try and fight back when the first exchange came.

Brian still can’t understand why you think people who don’t have a profile are cowards……..

Bang on Soldier. Don't know what all this "Cowardly" shit Brians spouting about though.
This is a public forum, hence POV will be given. Harrison was feckin abysmal in the pro-fight game, after he won the Olympic gold.
Yeah (in response to James Kings question) it is bitter disappointment from us "cowards", as he was the one doing the big talking and us "cowards" forking out good money for the priveledge of watching a shite boxer.
As Soldier has pointed out, his heart wasn't in it at all. He was nothing but a journeyman put in at the top level.

hope he does us all a favour and retires the useless shower of shit. lol.
to be fair to him he did win a gold medal. but its totally diff to being in the ring with a pro boxer. punch counts???? just go in for first round and throw 1000 punches if you hit cleanly with twenty of them can just chill out with a beer for last 2rnds.

It's just crazy that someone who uses an anonymous account would criticize anyone in the fight business. It's like a prostitute criticizing someone for being low class.

Hmm, I think I'll make a thread about this in off topic. Carry on :-)

if you feel so strong perhaps you should not let people create accounts without filling in info. after all its your forum.

also my brother was kicked off last week and his account suspended because it was set up on my pc. (cnt have two accounts).. he chose not to fill a profile because he doesnt do thaiboxing but loves to watch it. so maybe people without profiles are being made scapegoats brian?

It's not that simple, Sold13r. If it were that simple, I would have done that a long time ago.

Anyway, here is the topic on anonymous accounts. Let's not let this thread derail any further. This thread is about Audley Harrsion.

Wow, lots of points to address;
SOLD13R OF LOV3, I used Bruno and Naz as examples of where sportsman have been built up by the press and the public then smashed down by the same people. I could have just as easily used actors or popstars as examples.
RuaraidhJTBC,
I understand what you’re saying, but I do think that Harrison (rightly or wrongly) believed he could cause an upset. Can you imagine what the press would have been like if he’d come out with “yeah, I know I’m going to get a thrashing”? I don’t think he would have taken the fight if he thought it would have gone the way it did.
Knobsy,
I didn’t and haven’t called anyone a coward for not filling in their profile. I respect your right not to. I praised Brian’s comment because it has stirred up a good healthy debate. If Harrison is as you say “a journeyman put in the top level” then surely he should be given kudos for being brave enough to step up? I don’t think there’s too many journeymen Thai Boxers who would take a step up like that and take on someone who’s so obviously out their class and if they did then win, lose or draw they would receive lavish praise.
My question still stands (to everyone) about if it was someone from your club, do you think your reaction and feedback would be more tempered and balanced or would you still say exactly the same? Again not a dig at anybody, I’m just curious.

James, I didn't say you had called anybody a coward pal. I used speech-marks to represent the fact that the word had been used by somebody else, namely Brian.
We all have our own opinions, if that requires a profile to be completed in order to voice them, then i'm outta here. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out from my previous posts that I live in Burnley, i've been around Thai-boxing for about 16yrs, my Dad runs a gym in Padiham, my son is called Ryan Williams and has fought on the last 2 IKON bills and also the upcoming one, I'm a BT engineer .... blah, blah, blah. WTF that has to do with the fact I think AH was shit as a pro-heavyweight fighter though, I dont know ???
Its a bit different when commenting on Thai-boxing at 'our level'. AH was in the public eye and getting vasts ammounts of 'our' money for farcical fights.

Its pretty much like having opinions and voicing them when talking about Football players, Cricketers, F1 drivers etc etc ....
If they are in the public domain with Joe Public paying good money to watch them, then I'm afraid criticism goes hand-in-hand with it.
Not having a 'profile' does not a coward make.
