Topic:Eco Challenge Xtra - For People Aged 16 (year 11s)
I am working on the Eco Challenge Xtra project which is aimed at 16 year olds who have just completed Year 11 at school.
The project aims to raise environmental issues whilst allowing participants to enjoy the ourdoors through a series of activities including rock climbing, ghyll scrambing, kayaking and wild camping.
The project is running in four areas: Bradford, Hull, Manchester and Tower Hamlets.
It consists of three weeks:
Week 1: (31st July - 5th August 2011)Residential @ Castle Head FSC, Grange over Sands, Cumbria
Week 2: ( 8th - 12th August 2011 )Local residential (for Bradford it will be the Haworth Youth Hostel)
Week 3: (15th 19th August) 30 hours voluntary work on a local project improving the environment either practical or through campaigning.
Participants will also achieve their John Muir Award through this project.
