HAKEEM DAWODU PRE FIGHT THOUGHTS

On Saturday March 10th, Hakeem Dawodu participates in DEVASTATION. The event is historic as 4 Titles belts are up for grabs for Pan America. The belts are sanctioned by PAMU (Pan American MuayThai Union). PAMU is recognized by IFMA. The organization includes countries from the America's. Dawodu faces Argentinian and 2011 Pan American MuayThai Champion Sebastian Calvo in what is expected to be another huge test for Dawodu.

Hakeem Dawodu has been moving quickly up the ranks in North America for his MuayThai skills. In under 3 years he has earned a record of 37 wins and 3 losses. All three losses have been by split decision (in Canada, Thailand and Germany). Fighting as a Superlightweight (140 lbs.), he continues to train hard and blaze a trail forward in his career.

THOUGHTS ON YOUR FIGHT AGAINST CALVO...
Dawodu: I expect a really tough match. Those guys in South America (Argentina) are just plain old tough. I do not know much about him other than the fact he won the Pan American Title in 2010. He also participated in Beijing, China in the 1st SportAccord World Combat Games. That event featured the top 8 fighters in the world in each division. So no doubt, he is very good. I look forward to the challenge and the match.

YOU BEEN BUSY... QUICK UPDATES...
Dawodu: From newest to the oldest... last fight I had a fight with Thailand's Parnpetch. I learned so much and everyone has said it was a super fight. I know as it was tough and challenging. Before that I won the Last Man Standing 8 Man Welterweight K-1 Rules event. I had 3 fights in 1 night and that was difficult. I was up a weight division and fighting under K-1 rules which took away my clinch and elbow attacks... but was fun and I fought some really good fighters... defeated the very gifted Josh Jauncey (newspaper called it one of the best fights in B.C. in years), Alex Tribe, and Josh Wright. A week before that I beat China's Feng Jie (again no elbows), and I received a ton of support from people around the world who saw it on GFL as well as live. A few months before that I defeated Thailand's Tanuthong. Very good fighter... again learned a lot as he fought very defensively. Too many to name... I've had 13 fights in the last 12 months. Not bad for being outside Thailand or Europe. Been very active in the last year... faced some extremely gifted athletes. My respect to them all.

TOUGHEST FIGHT IN YOUR CAREER...
Dawodu: Probably Parnpetch (January 28th)... he was so fast and crafty. He was tricky, hard to hit, and had some great clinch work. Fights like that help me improve. I learned a lot.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIGHT...
Dawodu: Tough question as I do not want anyone to think I am calling them out. I want to fight with the best to keep improving. That is my goal. I would like to fight Matt Embree as he has a North American Title. Would be a fun fight. Obviously, I would someday like to fight Kevin Ross. I know you have also quizzed a few other people I would like to step in the ring with. (We did talk with Justin “The Purple People Eater” Greskiewicz about a match up in 2012. Justin was very interested but further negotiations did not go too much farther due to commitments on both sides. If not in 2012, hopefully 2013. Mike Miles)

WHAT'S UP NEXT...
Dawodu: Really, I am just concentrating hard on this fight. One bout at a time. OK, schedules... I have a possible fight in Ireland at the end of March. End of April I have a fight against a former Soviet Bloc athlete. Thailand is coming up and then there is a possible tournament in Canada in May or June. Need to know the date of that tournament as I do not want it to interfere with Thailand. Then if I win that tournament I will fight in Russia in September. October in Calgary again features us against Team Thailand in installment 3 of Team Canada vs. Team Thailand. I also know there is a unification title bout on the back burner between me and the USA's TJ Arcangle. The sanctioning body tried to set it up for April but I was already booked with Kholmuratov Firdaysiy. I just want to keep fighting and learning.

ANYTHING ELSE...
Dawodu: I would like to say thank you to all the sponsors who have helped me, all the people who come to the bouts for their support and Team Miles... love and respect to Ajarn Panya Kraitus and our lineage, a huge thank you to Ajarn Mike Miles, KruYai Scott Clark, Kru Erik Lollike, Kru Eak, all my team-mates,... everyone for helping me see my dream come true! Thank you everyone!

PETER ARBEAU'S THOUGHTS TONIGHT!
Mike Miles
Posted: 2012-02-11 17:23:27
On Saturday March 10th, Peter Arbeau participates in DEVASTATION. The historic event hosts 4 titles belts which are up for grabs for Pan America. The belts are sanctioned by PAMU (Pan American MuayThai Union). PAMU is recognized by IFMA. Arbeau faces Brazilian Marcos Denis who is a 4 time South American MuayThai Champion. Arberau is known for his exciting fights and this will be no exception.

THOUGHTS ON YOUR FIGHT AGAINST DENIS...
Arbeau: I know nothing about my opponent, so all I can do is concentrate on myself and prepare as well as I can. Train, train, and more training. I am not one to look on the internet for video either as MuayThai is such a dynamic game that athletes can change styles from fight to fight.

QUICK FIGHT UPDATES (Fights in the last year, where you been...)
Arbeau: The last has year has been a roller coaster fight wise. I've had some good wins and also some tough losses. I've faced some of the best international opponents, that has greatly improved my skill and confidence in myself as a fighter. I cannot remember how many bouts I had last year, but it was an exciting year. I faced a lot of challenges. I learned everytime and that's what's important.

TOUGHEST FIGHT IN YOUR CAREER...
Arbeau: Nikolas Larsen from Denmark when we fought in Germany. He moved very well. My go to moves weren't working against him and I just had a hard time adjusting, thus I somewhat gave up fighting to my true potential. A fighters mind set is an extremely important factor in winning or losing a bout.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIGHT...
Arbeau: A rematch against a previous KO loss a couple years back. I came out too fast on that bout which was a mistake. I feel I could handily redeem myself with the changes I have made to my fighting style. Also, a dream of mine has also been to face Artur Kyshenko. I can't say I am ready yet or that it will ever happen, however, if I was ever to face him I would be ready for the challenge.

WHAT'S UP NEXT (after you fight DENIS)...
Arbeau: More fights, more action, and hopefully bigger things. I want to travel more to out of town promotions and fight in someone else's backyard! I like fighting in my hometown because of the massive support people give to us Calgary fighters. I would like to have a big fight against a tough opponent in their territory. Then I don't have to worry about a thing but showing up, making weight, and putting on a show!

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY (FIGHT PREDICTION MAYBE)...
Arbeau: My fight prediction against Denis would be something like this. 1st round I will feel him out and watch to see what sort of style he brings. 2nd round I will pick it up offensively after receiving advice from my corner. 3rd, 4th, 5th it's all over! I look forward to the match.

Also... I have great appreciation for my MuayThai lineage under Ajarn Panya Kraitus, Ajarn Mike Miles, and the awesome coaches we have in our camp... KruYai Scott Clark, Kru Sandra Bastian, Kru Erik Lollike, Kru Eak... Many thanks to my loyal sponsors and supporters. United Communities, DSL Inc and of course my family. You guys rock!

ROBERT THOMAS PRE FIGHT THOUGHTS

On Saturday March 10th, Robert Thomas participates in DEVASTATION. The historic event hosts 4 titles belts which are up for grabs for Pan America. The belts are sanctioned by PAMU (Pan American MuayThai Union). PAMU is recognized by IFMA. Robert Thomas faces Brazilian Geverson Bergamo who is a 2 time Brazilian Champion and a 2 time South American MuayThai Champion. Thomas is a very strong fighter as is Bergamo.
Robert Thomas is from Ontario training out of MAS Gym under the watchful eye of Kru Chris Kew.

ANY THOUGHTS ON THE EVENT 'DEVASTATION...
Thomas: I am very excited to be on such a great card and looking forward to the fight.

THOUGHTS ON YOUR FIGHT AGAINST BERGAMO...
Thomas: I have watched some of his fights on youtube and he is extremely tough. He is a pretty big guy and throws a lot of power with his shots so i just have to fight smart and be in great shape so I can push the pace for 5 rounds.

QUICK FIGHT UPDATES (Fights in the last year, where you been...)
Thomas: In the last year I traveled to Thailand to compete in the WMF World Championships. There I won gold in the 81kg division at the amateur championships and also won gold at 75kg in the pro-am tournament. Shortly after returning from Thailand I fought in Bermuda and was victorious there. Also competed in the TBA championships winning my division.

TOUGHEST FIGHT IN YOUR CAREER...
Thomas: The toughest fight of my career was in the semi-finals of the WMF pro-am world championships. I fought a very tough opponent from Poland.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIGHT...
Thomas: Any tough opponent that will get my name out there and get me noticed.

WHAT'S UP NEXT (after you fight BERGAMO)...
Thomas: I plan on going back to Thailand soon to get some solid training in and some good fights.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY...
Thomas: Thanks to my coaches and training partners at MAS. I'm looking to put on a good show, have some fun, and hopefully my hand will be raised at the end of the fight.

On Saturday March 10th, Nicci Soutiere participates in DEVASTATION. The historic event hosts 4 titles belts which are up for grabs for Pan America. The belts are sanctioned by PAMU (Pan American MuayThai Union). PAMU is recognized by IFMA. In the only Women's Title Fight, Soutiere faces Brazilian Ruth Aquino who is the Argentinian Champion. Both girls love to fight and will put on a war for the audience!

NICCI SOUTIERE PRE FIGHT THOUGHTS...
Soutiere: I expect a difficult and challenging fight. Everyone brings a unique style to the sport, so I just want to make sure I train my hardest and be prepared to handle whatever may come. Aquino and the rest of the fighters are coming a long way to compete here in Calgary, and they are title belt shots. They won't take these fights lightly.

THOUGHTS ON YOUR FIGHT AGAINST AQUINO...
Soutiere: I don't know too much on Aquino. I believe she has been competing for a few years now, but am unsure of her record (it is 18 wins and 2 losses). I'm sure she is passionate about the sport as we are, and she will be determined to win, just as I am.

QUICK FIGHT UPDATES...
Soutiere: I've been very fortunate this past year to compete at home, other provinces, the US and in Germany. I've come across a lot of diverse talent, and it has helped to grow tremendously in the sport. I believe I racked up 10 fights in 2011 alone.

TOUGHEST FIGHT IN YOUR CAREER...
Soutiere: The toughest fight of my career so far has been in Vancouver for the Canada vs. China competition. I competed against Bai Jing. It was difficult fight, one count for the loss, and another being learning to handle a different style of fighter. She trained in a different martial art, and we both met under K-1 rules. She used different tactics and a style I wasn't used too, and I wasn't able to handle it as well as I had hoped. But it was a fantastic learning experience and it has helped me change some of my fight tactics so I am better equipped to handle diverse styles of fighters.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIGHT...
Soutiere: I honestly couldn't say... I'm still up and coming in the sport and am still learning about a lot of other fighters. I would be excited to compete with anyone who felt I would be a challenge.

WHAT'S UP NEXT (after you fight AQUINO)...
Soutiere: Next up after this fight is another home town competition in April. We have fighters coming in from Uzbekistan. After that I hope to compete and qualify for Team Canada to earn the right to represent Team Miles and Canada in St. Petersburg, Russia, for the IFMA Amateur World Championships in September.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY...
Soutiere: I expect this could be my toughest fight yet. We both want the belt. It will all get settled in the ring.
Of course I want to thank all my coaches. I am very fortunate to work with some of the best in the world. I completely trust their knowledge and I know they will have me ready for this fight. I also want to thank my teammates who help me grow and push me forward in this sport. And finally all my friends and family for their support. This sport is so amazing and exciting, I love sharing it with others.

On Saturday March 10th, MuayThai history occurs with the first ever Pan American Championship bouts taking place featuring Canadian athletes against athletes from Brazil and Argentina. The Canadian athletes from Alberta and Ontario have had their say. Now it is time for the South American athletes to talk about how they feel for these upcoming bouts.

SEBASTIAN CALVO or 'LA BEASTIA' is from Argentina and he participates in DEVASTATION battling against Canada's HAKEEM DAWODU. This historic bout between Calvo and Dawodu is for the PAMU (Pan American MuayThai Union) Lightwelterweight Full MuayThai rules Title. Sanctioning for this event is by IFMA, PAMU and MuayThai Alberta. Mr. Calvo has competed in the SportAccord World Combat Games which featured the top 8 athletes in the world in this weight division.

BIO:
NAME: Sebastián Calvo
NICKNAME: "La Bestia" (The Beast)
COMPLETE FIGHT RECORD: 20-3-0 (8 KO)
TITLES: Pan American Champion Brazil 2010 / Argentina National Team Thailand and Beijing 2010 / Gold Medalist South American Tournament Paraguay 2009 / South American Champion Uruguay 2010
HEIGHT: 5 Feet 6 Inches.
WEIGHT: 140 lbs.
GYM NAME: MTA (Muaythai Argentina)
INSTRUCTOR: Miguel Carpinacci
CITY FROM: Buenos Aires

THOUGHTS ON YOUR FIGHT AGAINST DAWODU...
Calvo: It's going to be a tough fight because Dawodu is an aggressive fighter. However I had challenging fights before and I always trust in my preparation. I know it will be a very tough fight for Dawodu too!

QUICK FIGHT UPDATES...
Calvo: Last year I had two important fights; the first being for the South American Championship in Peru at 63,5 kg. and the second, for the Argentinian K-1 title for the WKF at 60 kg. I won both fights. I've had the chance of fighting and representing Argentina in Beijing, Thailand, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay and Mexico in both categories. Now I can add Canada to my resume!

TOUGHEST FIGHT IN YOUR CAREER...
Calvo: My toughest fight was against Hugo Solorio from Mexico in 2010. He's a very strong, fast, and highly experienced boxer but thankfully I could manage that fight very well. I learned a lot from the fight and more importantly, I won.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIGHT...
Calvo: I'm always looking forward to fight the very best, doesn't matter who he is. It's the only way to evolve and become a better fighter.

WHAT'S UP NEXT...
Calvo: This year my goal is represent my country again in the IFMA World Championship taking place in Russia. The event takes place in September in St. Petersburg. I'm training hard to achieve this. Funnily enough I have a good chance of possibly fighting Dawodu again at those championships provided we both qualify!

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY...
Calvo: This is going to be a very exciting fight and I know we both are going to give everything to win. I have trained hard to have the PAMU Belt put around my waist. I feel glad for the opportunity and ready for the challenge. I am going to represent and make Argentina proud of me. Thank you also goes to my instructor Miguel Carpinacci! Calgary and Canada, expect a war!

SKILL, DESIRE, DETERMINATION, FOCUS.... AND A BATTLE PLAN are the ingredients to SUCCESS!

Two young and up and coming Calgary athlete's battle it out on March 10th's International MuayThai event called DEVASTATION. Both these athletes battle for BRAGGING RIGHTS.
Mike Miles MuayThai athlete Mohammad Shah is a young eighteen year old who has set his sights on high goals in the MuayThai world. Sporting a record of 2 wins and 1 loss, the youngster is hungry to start scrapping against international opponents but he must earn this right by defeating as many Canadian athletes as possible.

Across the ring from him will be World Total Martial Arts athlete Sterling Love who weighs exactly the same as his opponent (154 lbs.) is the same age and yes... sports the exact same record. Love also wants to make a name for himself and earn the right to face off against international competition. Love has been groomed by his instructor Albert Han.

"It is a shame to have these two athletes face each other so early in their careers", says promoter Mike Miles. "However, since they both are in the same weight division, and the fact that this is a combative sport with a finite amount of athletes, they will engage in many more battles in the future, as they will cross paths on events earning them the right to represent Canada." This event is crucial to them both as it will set the tone for future face offs between them."

The event is taking place in a smaller venue, the Deerfoot Inn and Casino and ticket sales have been brisk to say the least. There are still some tickets available for this event. All one needs to do is call 403.244.8424 to purchase their tickets to this action packed event. The last event' 'JAWBREAKER' was a complete sell-out and that January 28th event featured the best MuayThai fight event in Calgary in the last 10 years! RUTH AQUINO PRE FIGHT THOUGHTS

On Saturday March 10th, Ruth Aquino participates in DEVASTATION stepping into the ring against Canada's Nicci Soutiere for the PAMU Women's Superlightweight Pan American MuayThai Title Belt.

Name: Ruth Stephanie Aquino
Residence: Buenos Aires (ARG)
Date Of Birth: 21/02/1988
Weight: 63.5 kg
Height: 1.64 cm
Record: 18 wins, 2 losses 0 draws 2 KOs
Titles: Argentinian Kick Boxing Champion
Gym Name: AAKBOX
Instructor: Jorge Gionco

THOUGHTS ON YOUR FIGHT AGAINST NICCI...
Aquino: I know it will be hard, she is a very good fighter, but I trust myself and my conditions.

QUICK FIGHT UPDATES...
Aquino: My last fight was my first defense of the Argentinian Lightweight Belt; before that, I fought against Valentina Shevchenko at the 20th South America Championship and a few more fights before those, everyone in Argentina.

TOUGHEST FIGHT IN YOUR CAREER...
It was definitely with Shevchenko. She has a lot of experience and she has defined the bout with the clinch. I have learnt so much from her.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIGHT...
Aquino: I really do not care about who is in front of me, I would fight anyone.

WHAT'S UP NEXT (after you fight NICCI)..
Aquino: After this fight, I will probably fight for a Kick Boxing South American Title, will see…

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY...
I will do my best. It will not be easy for Nicci. Thank you very much for the opportunity.

SATURDAY MARCH 10, 2012
DEVASTATION MUAYTHAI GALA
CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA

Saturday March 10th saw the 4th installment of the Challenger Fight Series - 'Devastation'. The event was hosted at the beautiful Deerfoot Inn and Casino. The event was historic as it was the first time in North American history that there were PAMU (Pan American MuayThai Union) title at stake. The event was supported by IFMA, sanctioned by PAMU, MuayThai Alberta and the Canadian MuayThai Council - Amateur.

The show was sold out the day before the event was to take place. Following the success of the prior show on January 28th, many people were again turned away at the door for this event. The fights were very entertaining and featured some real good technical fights.

A huge thank you goes out to the coaches and athletes for their professionalism and cooperation making this event run smoothly. Thank you's go out to: Mestre Carlos Camacho (Brazil and President of the Pan American MuayThai Union - PAMU), Ingrid Jost (Brazil), Carlos Araujo (Brazil), Miguel Carpinacci (Argentina), Justin Garant (Canada), Saji Geeverghese (Canada), Conrad Corbiere (Canada), Scott Clark (Canada), Erik Lollike (Canada), Sandra Bastian (Canada), and Jason Jillain (Canada) and Promoter and IFMA Executive Member Mike Miles (Canada).

Before the event was to start, promoter Mike Miles was to receive some distressing news. "I received a phone call that Jesse had an accident and was in the hospital. This changed all the dynamics of the night for me. I truly wanted to leave and figure out what had happened. I lost all focus and unfortunately that night it really showed. I thank Scott Clark, Sandra Bastian, Erik Lollike and Jason Jillain for trying to keep the team focused", said Mike Miles. The event still featured some world class MuayThai and the bouts went off without a hitch.

Pan American Lightmiddleweight MuayThai Title
Peter Arbeau (Canada/Miles, Clark) vs. Marcos Denis Pereira (Brazil/Camacho)
This was the crowd's favorite bout of the evening. Arbeau has developed a huge and loyal following of fans in Calgary. Arbeau was not to disappoint and put on a good show. Brazil's Marcos Pereira was presented with a great opportunity in this bout. He was main event and up for grabs was the PAMU Lightmiddleweight MuayThai Belt. Unfortunately for Marcos, his opponent Canada's Arbeau was well prepared for this event and hungry for the win as well. Pereira just could not get going effectively in this fight. He tried to mount a good offense but it just never seemed to materialize. Every time Pereira moved, he was greeted by an onslaught of punches, kicks, elbows, and knees during this bout. Arbeau delivered an assault of both offensive and defensive blows which kept Pereira off balance and out of the running on this bout. During the bout Pereira attempted several cartwheels (a la Saenchai) but they were done without his hands touching the ground (aerial cartwheels). They were close but never connected with the Canadian. From round one to round five, Arbeau pressed the fight and for every attack that the Brazlian mounted, Arbeau was to counter and land. Arbeau was to take the bout by unanimous decision. Congratulations to Peter Arbeau on winning the PAMU Lightwelterweight MuayThai Title.

Pan American Lightwelterweight MuayThai Title
Hakeem Dawodu (Canada/Miles, Clark, Lollike) vs. Sebastian Calvo (Argentina/Carpinacci)
Both athletes weighed in the night before with Dawodu (138 lbs.) only three pounds heavier than Calvo (135 lbs.). But on fight night, Dawodu was to look visually bigger than his foe. As the bout opened both athletes circled each other. Dawodu was to land the first blow with a jumping teep that sunk into Calvo's stomach. Calvo was to smile back after the kick. After that, the feeling out stage was over and though the first two rounds were somewhat slower in pace, both athletes started measuring each other and delivering quick shots at each other. But Dawodu's speed and timing was to work in his favor as he was more successful landing his kicks and knees and avoiding the counters. Making the fight interesting, Calvo would counter with some fast and tricky moves but just could not seem to catch the Canadian. Dawodu pulled ahead in each round but midway through the fight was to take a picture perfect teep to the face sending a spray of sweat from his head across the ring. Undaunted, Dawodu started opening up more trying to go for the knockout. Calvo demonstrated why he is such a respected fighter and though Dawodu would land some good kicks and knees, Calvo did a good job of choking Dawodu's punches out and nullifying Dawodu in the clinch. Though Dawodu was to win the bout and the title unanimously, and though the Canadian was not injured or marked up after the fight, Calvo's experience made Dawodu work very hard for the win. "Calvo kept Dawodu very honest. Dawodu had to get his shots in and either block or defensively avoid Calvo's fast counters. This was a very good fight for Dawodu. It has definitely helped Dawodu improve as an athlete," said Canadian coach Mike Miles. This was quite possibly the fight of the night. Congratulations to Hakeem Dawodu on winning the PAMU Lightwelterweight MuayThai Title.

Pan American Cruiserweight MuayThai Title
Robert Thomas (Canada/Kew) vs. Geverson Bergamo (Brazil/Camacho)
There was plenty of action in this bout. Thomas was to use his right hand to plenty of effect. Thomas was to make good use of his boxing skills and kicks on the outside during this bout. Bergamo never really seemed to want to punch but instead relied on the clinch and being close. Several times he grabbed Thomas' head and delivered multiple knees to the face but they did not have the strength to affect the Canadian. Both athletes exchanged back and forth demonstrating great desire and skills in this bout. Thomas was to take the decision unanimously. A very good fight. Congratulations on Robert Thomas winning the PAMU Cruiserweight MuayThai Title.

Pan American Women's Lightwelterweight MuayThai Title
Nicci Soutiere (Canada/Miles, Clark, Lollike) vs. Ruth Aquino (Argentina/Carpinacci)
This was a real war between these two athletes. There was fast and furious exchanges between these two athletes. Soutiere worked on using her kicks and long knees to effect on Aquino. Aquino relied on fast boxing combinations and low kicks during this bout. In the clinch Soutiere appeared to have the upper hand but as the rounds went by, it was more difficult for Soutiere to knee as effectively as she did at the start of the bout. Aquino was to deliver a lot of knees to the legs during the clinches while Soutiere relied on kneeing the belly. Towards the end of the fight as Aquino would advance she would walk into long knees and long teeps from Soutiere. During several exchanges which took place on the ropes, Aquino was to land some fast boxing combinations. At the end of the bout, the result went to the score cards. Souritere was to win by a split decision. "I felt the bout was very close and looking at the bout, Aquino landed some good punch combinations but Soutiere was to land some excellent body kicks and long knees", said Mike Miles. These two could possibly meet again in the World Championships in Russia this year. Congratulations to Nicci Soutiere on winning the PAMU Women's Lightwelterweight MuayThai Title.

Canadian Superwelterweight MuayThai Title
Phil Leier (Calgary/Miles, Clark, Sutherland-Kolozetti) vs. Matthew Kendall (Pickering/Geeverghese)
This was a good technical bout with both athletes demonstrating some excellent skills. As the bout opened both looked quite respectful towards each other as each probed with long kicks and punches. In rounds one and two Leier looked calm and relaxed and kept Kendall at bay while landing some good kicks. In round three Kendall landed a punch which slightly shook Leier. Upon seeing this Kendall changed his battle plan and decided to switch his attacks to using his hands. He was in the remaining rounds moving forward pressing the fight and trying to land his punches for a knock out. Leier was to take some punches but he was never shook after the punch in the third round. Going into the final round the score was neck and neck. Kendall knew this and he came out fast and furious with pressure on Leier. Leier was to fight back defensively and score but Kendall showed the ring generalship pressing forward and taking the round. At the end of the bout, Kendall was to have his hand raised for an unanimous decision. Congratulations on Matthew Kendall wining the Canadian Superwelterweight MuayThai Title.

Featherweight MuayThai Fight
Max Carruthers (Calgary/Miles, Clark, Bastian) vs. Anton Potocki (Cambridge/Kew)
"I personally felt that this was the bout of the evening", said Calgary coach Mike Miles. The two youngsters displayed nice clean technique with the action see-sawing back and forth between the two throughout the whole bout. A lot of the fight was in the clinch and Potocki did manage some good moves on the inside, though Carruthers was never outclassed in this position. Carruthers seemed to decide in this bout to punch more than he usually does and Potocki was to sit on the outside and kick and work hard inside in the clinch. Both athletes pitched each other to the canvas during the clinch. Potocki was to take the fight unanimously but the bout was very close. These two have huge futures in front of them on the Canadian scene. Great fight! Congratulations to Anton Potocki on his win in this event.

Superwelterweight MuayThai Fight
Dwain Soon (Calgary/Miles, Jillain, Clark) vs. Jason Hinds (Pickering/Geevershese)
This was an interesting bout. Truthfully at times, the bout looked more like a MMA contest. Hinds was to dance around the ring firing long punches the majority of which did not find their mark. Hinds was to move around sticking his tongue out and mugging at Soon. The problem with Soon is that he blocked the majority of the attacks of Hinds and Soon did land counter attacks. But as the rounds wore on, Soon stood and waited too long not pressing the bout enough. The judges felt that Hinds had thrown and carried the fight giving the bout to the Pickering athlete. Congratulations to Jason Hinds on winning the unanimous decision.
