Trolls can they still hide?

As some may be aware a cowardly Internet troll has been named and shamed Scumbag!

So as the law has now identified that Websites have a responsibility to identify abusive trolls who would like to see a Troll named and shamed from our ever friendly community

I for one don't really harbour a grudge and would happily draw a line and move on, but from now if one rears its ugly head with a tirade of abuse I would feel inclined to know who dare not be known ;-)

Moderators should not allow accounts without a bio and email. Fair enough these would be easy to fake but it's a start.

Does the law cover websites if it is hosted outside of the UK, though? I am presuming Ax is hosted in the States.

I think trolls are Important on this site. As long as it doesn't get silly. People like Marc free fight get a bit to personal.

Thats the point though, most of the trolls do get silly dont they? Apart from Kradot Dtae - who just gets silly bollocks, which is more acceptable and in fact quite enjoyable :)

Is a troll anyone without a profile? Don't see why it matters to have it filled in.

It doesn't if you are a civilised human being...

Everyones view is valid, and having the freedom of speech as we apparently do in this country, everyone has the right to air that view, good or bad, but without identity an anonimous view has no credence, as to judge or evaluate that view you have to know from where it comes. Plus if you truely have any conviction in what you are saying, why would you not want people to know who you are. Or is it just, that some people just use this platform of communication to cause trouble? In accordance with their own often unassociated aganda's.
I agree profiles only, and charge for that profile, I would happily pay to use this forum, would a troll keep paying to renew identities when unearthed?

That's the point though, we do have freedom of speech, Christ knows my 2 peneth is a mixture of wind up and straight talk but at least I am accountable

And in fairness some aren't actually trolls they just haven't filled out the profile, but I do actually think it should be a requirement to be accountable I think £10 a year would be a fair price to pay, with out the trolls and more possitive reflection and discussion goung on, I'm sure can only be better and others who choose not to speak would be more inclined to have input

People are people and shit fests are part of it like it or lump it, if you have something to say then by all means say it. Would be far more healthy

What is far more civilised is people offering up a view in a sensible fashion.
Freedom of speech is often hijacked buy shitfest merchants which IMO is an abuse of that freedom, because it then insults people and almost takes away their freedom to speak without being abused.

However, it is what it is, it just makes you less likely to speak if it means being around these people - therefore reducing the number of credible conversations on any given forum.

Does anyone really care that much though? Sounds to me like people have too much time on their hands if they're worrying about identities on a message board, I couldn't care less if someone has a profile or not each to their own.

I totally agree with The Bulldog!

Axkickboxing.com has lost a lot of very knowledgable people over the years who openly say that they do not go on AX anymore due to the sort of reasons that Carl has just stated.

People who's input, experience and factual knowledge could help a lot of other people, especially those new to the sport.

Still, axkickboxing.com is still here, which is a good thing.

some good points raised, but it's not just trolls without profiles that ruin ax. There are a few who get very upset/aggressive if someone posts something that they don't agree with. They then go on to ruin threads.
So how do we define a troll? Anyone that bullies or abuses people are wrong, even if they have a profile!

Good point Steve.

This forum has ridiculous double standards. Seen lots of abuse on here over the years, from people with and without profiles. Just like in life their is a hierarchy on here, fine for some to give other people shit, not so fine when somebody else doe's.

Yes but there is a code of conduct that I've been penalised by a few times

Arguments do flair why should some one not have there say and someone be able to defend themselves

I'm one for drawing a line but do believe should be ousted all the same

There's having your say and there's being an abusive tosser because you think you can be (and in fairness, in this cyber world - you probably can).

We have all over done it on occasion but there are those who make a career out of it.

My northern bluntness probably doesn't help, in fairness tho majority of people will be on facebook so stole them away

But some have totally abused the system I do love banter tho, but at least with who I know who I'm having the crack with so as can gauge the content etc

There is a set definition for "trolling". And just because people know who you are, doesn't mean you can't still troll.

There's a massive misconception about internet trolls in that the word troll is bandied about (specifically in the mainstream media) whenever a person is horribly abusive to someone else online. That isn't what a troll is. That is what a dickhead is.

Watching a real troll at work can be a thing of beauty when done well- a troll is someone who will, one way or another, wind someone up to the extent that they (the trolling target) will expose themselves as angry, abusive, intolerant, racist, or even just plain fucking stupid.

Trolling has been going on on TV for years now - remember the original Ali-G interviews? Louis Theroux? Brass Eye? All massively trolled to awesome effect.

There's a guy who I think has been trolling AX pretty well for a while now (you can speculate between yourselves who I think he is) - he started off well, but now I'm not sure if he is a troll or if he's an idiot. The sign of a good troll in my book.

That's how I roll.

The fact is, if you're the sort of person who sits back and considers what you're saying, that automatically makes you hard to troll.

Basil, a few trolls on here, struggling to think who you mean? All pretty blatant in my eyes? Can we have a clue please?

Thing is, I'm not 100% sure if he's a well meaning idiot, or he's a ninja troll. Either way, I don't want to scare him off. I find his idiocy entertaining when it crops up.
