Does anybody have any more details for this show? Info seems a little bit scarce and it's getting closer. Would be a shame if it wasn't a success because nobody knows what's happening.
I've seen a few posters appearing on Facebook but nothing seems set in stone.
From ringing the stadium up last week, they said nothing was confirmed but they were having a meeting about it and would know more Friday. We rang again on Friday and still no news!
I'm sure they'll be more information soon though. :)
Leicester City ticket office have just phoned me back and said tickets are on sale now. They are only open until 5pm tonight though, then back open tomorrow at 9.
If you are quick this afternoon, you can phone them before 5.
Number is 0844 815 5000.
I just gave my card detail over phone and confirmed 2 tickets on there way out!
i might travel for this..its a good 2 hour drive though and i'd like a couple of jars watching the fights so not sure whether to make a night of it rather than sipping coca cola watching teh action
...
sean, did you hear anything about where you would be sitting? is it first come first served?
Loads of accomadation billybigconkers there are travel inns x2 Days inn at leicester forest east and shed loads of hotels in the city itself, work there a lot.
Sorry everyone, didn't know they were only selling to those they had called back. I'd phoned them a few weeks ago and left my number.
They didn't give me a preference for seating on the phone, they just asked how many tickets. I've just received email receipt though and says we are in North Upper A, row M (and then the seat numbers).
I don't know Leicester stadium but definitely looks like outside and using the stands. When you speak to ticket office, may be worth asking for seat preferences - I didn't think to ask to be honest.
Hope everyone else manages to get through tomorrow and get tickets, hopefully with it being outside, there are going to be plenty of tickets available for everyone that can get there.
Just got my tickets... the lines were SERIOUSLY busy. I was on hold for an hour. The guy on the other end of the line reckons it will sell out today, so get calling!
A and in front of that is VIP apparently, then it works back from there b, c, d etc....at least thats what the woman said to us and we got row C so she had better be telling the truth!!!
Spent nearly 30 mins booking tickets for other people, I asked for seats near the front and they gave me 3 rows back from the VIP rows he told me it's selling fast get your tickets ASAP
I was looking forward to that fight and Craig getting his big chance! Sudsakorn will be no push over but just the hype that comes with Buakaw got me excited for that.
abdellah maybel and Suddsakhorn ive commentated on 3 times in the Fight-Code Season fights, they both tough as !
and Maybel fought Sudsakhorn in the Semis of the 32 man year 2011 series
In all honesty, I would have liked to see Watson vs Sudsakorn, Jose vs Buakaw and Harrison vs Kem. Still great fights though and Jose vs Sudsakorn will be a stormer!
no doubts hes good just dont think hes as good as buakaw, i think craig can beat him and hope he does. hes lazy and show boats alot i hope he leaves himself open and craig bangs him
Yeah I found out it wasn't buakaw a Couple weeks ago, I got told I was fighting Saiyok but these things can change. Gonna be awesome whoever it the fight is with, very excited
Speaking to sudsakorn the other day here in pattaya n he said he's not fighting Craig. Said he's fighting some 1 else. Funny when he said usually don't no who he fights. Like dean ford said above, I find it a bit stupid to bring over top class Thais n only 1 local lad fighting 1 of them, could of made all diff match ups England vs Thai, would of bin great for the lads n the crowd.
Sudsakorn is a good mate and used to love watching him fight but has blown hot and cold recently. He doesnt like to train much and has been doing a lot of seminars and coaching in Italy. Dont think he has trained properly for a while. When he does and is on form he is mint! Watch his fight with Kem at Omnoi and both his fights with Noppadet at Channel 7, these show what level he is at when he tries!
does anybody know what the deal is with seating.i know you are allocated a seat but i was told its going to be in a marquee and sit where you like.im asking because ive seen some tickets for sale but it would be better to sit together.
Spoke to some of the press people at Leicester this morning. They're going to be holding the fight in the car park. The entire event will be under a tent, so we should be safe from rain. Capacity is going to be 2800, and there are still tickets left.
it is ridiculously funny reading some of the comments about this on a few of the lcfc fan forums.
it honestly shows how little is known about thai boxing over here! People on there who clearly havent got a clue who Buakaw is, talking about these 'little' thai men who could be ko'd by a boxer etc and they might go along and watch it for a laugh! lets hope their minds expand a little bit after seeing the show!
Your bang on their smeikle. Sudsakorn never likes to train but when he does theirs not many Thais, let alone foreigners that can touch him. A lot of natural skill. He Said he's only ever trained 50% over the last few years.
Cant wait for this show. Its prob been said before, but really wish it was a UK versus Thailand card, would love to know why all these Frenchies are being brought over?
im havin shit luck at the minute hopefully getting it all out the way and can have a good end to the year. absolutely gutted i wont be a part of this good luck to the uk guys
Fantastic event the Thai fighters were superb especially sudsakorn the man is very entertaining Craig Jose had brilliant fight with saiyok and michael dicks had a rough night easily beaten and how tough was Jordan's opponent to come back from those head kicks I hope Thai fight is back in uk soon
Arming pumpanyang won ko
Dylan Salvador won points
Singmanee won points
Saiyok won points
Sudsakirn won
Buakaw won with a evil body kick Jordan Watson won points
Bousouku easily won points
Just finished watching the videos, does anybody else feel that Bennoui was unfortunate with the dec.
Singmanee doesn't impress me he seems to get favourable dec's in fights with Sudsakorn and Kulebin as well.
Daz you need to watch that fight again mate lots of thais after that event were complaining because they all thought kulebin won. I thought he won aswell singmanee only teeped and was on back foot the whole fight. Well done to everyone yesterday was gutted I wasn't part of it. Jordans head kick made an outrageous sound can't believe that guy got up
singmanee is one of my favourite thai fighters to watch but he didnt win, the lads hands were to high n he couldnt land any decent headkicks or elbows, even the thais sat behind me said he should never have won that fight
was a great show. The usual Thai organised chaos rule seemed to apply here too with the seating etc haha but it was really good.
Loved seeing Buakaw here again and the reception he got was immense. i actually walked off to the bar after Jordans head kick coz i thought it was all over, thought there was no way his opponent was carrying on, then walked back in and he was back in the game, unbelievable! Jordan was pure class, so strong. Craig fought so well too, he certainly gave Saiyok a war!
really, really hope they put some more shows on here with more Brits v Thai's.
Singmanee would ave won in the stadiums but thaifight understandably want more action, as judges we can only score what's in front of us, singmanee was lazy but was still scoring effectively, ibmto was asked to score muay thai which we did and one of the judges was a very well known thai, spoke to loads of Thais last night they all agreed in the stadiums he would ave still won but they would ave preferred his opponent to win because singmanee was being lazy "sods law"
Sudsakorn was best fight for me
Buakaw turned up the heat and it was over
And the UK fighters proved yet again they can compete alongside the best in the world.
Fantastic show
great posts and Missed the First 2 fights Traffic down Horrendous ! But more than made up for it with other 6 fights Wicked ! and Yes echo Paul beatys positive comments and esp: all those ref: Jordans Face smash high kick yer head off kicks and the frenchie getting up more times than the friday the 13th: Film lol Tough guy !
Was a great weekend had the pleasure to Meet Greet and eat with and interview Buakaw in my gym in Bolton T B club and scotts Buddha lounge Thai resturant tonight, where we was shown a showreal and he gave a Demo on pads and then a Interview wow
Humbled is a understatement ! Hes so so so humble, quiet and a sportsman and true martial artist in every way !
beaty, i agree i think i saw the fight in that way because im used to seeing footage of singmanee being a menace haha, i thought judging was fair on the night just dint think he was his usual self. still a great fighter !
As a spectator this was the best fight show Iv ever been to.Ok, there were a few mismatches on the card but still as a spectacle and showing people a really good standard of Muay Thai being done properly I couldnt fault it.
My question is, how can a gang of Thais come over, put on a show in the UK better than anyone else, thats better organised than everyone else, more spectacular than anyone elses with an all round better fight card than most, pay everyone and only charge a tenner? Did they do this at a loss to promote Muay Thai or am I missing something?
fair enough, does that mean that essentially it was paid for by advertising revenue from the sponsors.Im assuming that they want to appear to be making muay thai popular abroad so as to promote themselves, and thailand etc to the thai people?
Is this more about creating revenue back home or a genuine in road to making MT a big spectator sport elsewhere?
I have to agree... best show I have ever attended...
one bad point though was the seating... we were told our seats were numbered and then turned up just before the first fight to find you can pretty much sit anywhere... had I known I would have turned up before anyone else
Rob's right, they have many big sponsors and also have the backing from Ministry of Culture and Ministry of sport, Leicester City also chipped in cash in order promote the football club. So with that they have more than enough money to stage the event and promote Muay Thai globally and locally. With the success of this there will be even more interest in the Thai Fight 2012 tournament which starts in October back in Thailand. I guess making Muay Thai more popular and making revenue go hand in hand, so I'd say the answer is yes to both.
Oh and the next Thai Fight Extreme is in Lyon on the 19th of September with Pinca vs Saiyoke as the main event.
Another fight which you might be seeing on Thai Fight is Buakaw vs Petrosyan, in 2013.
buakaew v petrosyan, at last a decent match for him in the thai fight series, slick as it is in the production all the thais seem to have an easy ride, does anyone agree ?
If they do get to fight on Thai Fight it would be 3 rounds FTR only. And yes they would have to pay HUGE money to get Petrosyan to agree to do it. With elbows and knees I say Buakaw has the advantage. Certainly a step up from his recent competition, who have been a little inexperienced on the big stage.
