Jon Murphy & Kieron Bimpson open the Francesca Bimpson Support & Rescource Centre
Jon Murphy & Kieron Bimpson open the Francesca Bimpson Support & Rescource Centre

A SUPPORT centre set up in memory of tragic tot Francesca Bimpson was opened by Merseyside’s top cop.

Chief constable Jon Murphy cut the ribbon on the Francesca Bimpson Foundation’s serious crime support and resource centre in Huyton yesterday.

Francesca’s dad Kieron set up the facility after his daughter was killed in an arson attack on their Everton home in 2008.

Open to all victims of serious crime, the centre offers support on a wide range of issues including counselling, benefits and compensation.

Mr Murphy said: “It is a privilege to open the Francesca Bimpson Foundation.

“The loss of Francesca was devastating for the family and no-one can truly appreciate the distress and trauma they have gone through since that night.

“Not only did the family lose their daughter, who I believe was the life and soul of the family, but they also lost their home and have had to overcome a number of other obstacles in the last three years.

“As a result of his own experiences, Kieron was determined to help other families who fall victim to serious crime. Along with that he wanted to establish a lasting legacy to Francesca.

“Kieron, along with his brother and Francesca’s uncle Gerrard, have worked tirelessly over the last four years to raise funds for the foundation and the official opening today is testimony to Francesca’s memory.
Francesca, three, suffered 85% burns in the devastating house fire four years ago, which was started by her aunt’s jealous former boyfriend Graham Heaps.

She spent the next three weeks in the run-up to Christmas battling for her life, but her injuries were too severe and she died on the day before Christmas Eve.

Mr Bimpson said he hoped the opening of the centre would be the start of a fast-growing legacy in Francesca’s honour.

He said: “It was fantastic that we were able to get the chief constable to open the centre for us.

“It will be good for referrals and will help other victims of crime find the right support.

“When we lost Francesca, we had no idea where to go or what to do. It was just like a black hole. We hope the centre will fill that void for people in the future.

“Eventually we would like to see Francesca Bimpson centres opened in every part of Merseyside and across the region.
