Grand Master Apidej Sit-Hirun Passes Away

Fairtex master trainer and Muaythai legend Grand Master Apidej Sit-Hirun has sadly passed away.

Below is a statement from Fairtex CEO Anthony Lin:

"I am very sad tonight as I just received news that Grand Master Apidej Sit-Hirun has passed away. He is the "GREATEST Muaythai Fighter of the Century", a Title only given by The Authority of Thailand. He is the only Muaythai Fighter to have held 7 different championship title in Muaythai and Boxing in several weight categories for over a decade with over 370 wins and less than 10 losses; a record no other Muaythai champions has ever come close. I miss my Master... He was the first to teach me Muaythai and how to kick with power. He made it fun. He inspired me to Pay-It-Forward. He has taught me to be humble and appreciate life... I miss you... Rest In Peace..."

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

It is very sad for all the family, loved ones and students and I offer my heart felt condolences. Yes, it has been very sad this first quarter of 2013, we have lost some great men of Muay Thai, however it is their legacy that they leave behind that will endure them, that will keep their flames shining brightly - remember them with honour and respect.

He broke arms with kicks. Now that right there and khun yodtong are people worthy of the term master toddy and master kevin should be ashamed of them selves to class them selves in the same legue as these guys

Senior grand master yodthong is one of the 5 senior grand masters who gave gm woody, gm sken, gm toddy, and gm kevin their status of grand master so they have nothing to be ashamed of. Kevin and toddy might not be liked in some people's eyes but to be given that status of some such as gm yodthong is worthy of it surely?

Kevin was put forward for the stautus by gm woody he then had to shiw the panel of 5 senior grand masters why they should allow him the status and the portfolio he presented to them along with what they knew of him was enough. I think although not heavily involved with the fight scene he ia with the traditional asspecta of thai which isn't for us all. But I must say the way some of the farrang masters go about thier work is wrong, respect should be earned off every individual and not expected

sorry to break to you mate there are no ferrang masters or thai ones in any case this is just a bunch of people that got together made a panel and handed out awards to each other, where is master richard smith (owner of strongest fight gym out side thai), when does sandy become a master? hes been involved in muay thai for 72 yearsand had 15 more fights than all of them put together! where is master sangteinoi master samart payakroon master buakaw master lerdsila! its a load of bollox, believe half of what you see and nothing of what you hear" bruce lee!

Grading system nout to do with how many fights you have sandys under master skens grading system which his is own? Follow the the kru association wich is thr only grading system recognised by thai government and the education system of thailand. I was sat in the room when kevin was assessed in thailand was there when master sken received his gold monkon. Although people assume they have just given themselves the status they have actually officially got them. Everyone is entitled to their views on people so whether you call them by their status is up to you was just saying they have officially got them
