It was a great event, fantastic venue, really good well run show that was packed to the rafters and noisy all night with a great atmosphere.

A great win for Reece as well, with a huge elbow stoppage.

so hes not really a world champion then is he! tim thomas was a great name to beat never heard of jackson barkhouse, just a meaningless title that means less than an area title!

Agree with paulinthailand! Wouldn't doubt Reece's class for a second cos I am a huge fan watched lots of his fights but 2 lads from the North East fighting for a world title :/

actually no one is ever a MAD "world champion" the belt is from the WMC and Muay Thai Against Drugs foundation... even on the belt it doesnt say the words "world champion" - if you win one you are a Muay Thai Against Drugs Champion....

agreed with above he doesnt need this to prove anything but its also probably the most mis quoted belt names.

So MAD is some sort of novelty anti drugs campaign belt?

The World Muaythai Council and the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur  have been involved in two charity projects since their inauguration. “Muaythai Against Drugs” is established in over 50 countries and promotes awareness of the dangers of drugs and the fostering of positive influences in the lives of youth today.

It's a prestige belt rather than a title although I believe Craig Jose has fought and defended a "MAD" title, Dean James, Damian Trainer and Andy Howsen have also at one time won a "MAD" title.

If you look at the state of play in the UK at the moment it's refreshing to see this kind of belt fought for. Have a look at the rankings you will see lads who are second best in their own towns holding European and even worse "world" titles!

As for the opponent, he may not be as well known to the masses but Jackson has had a mass of experience fighting in Thailand and also recently (last year) fought Kluebin under amateur rules

AND! Rittijak also won a WMC "MAD" Title at the weekend stippling Lee Colville with a body shot in the first round!

I see, so its more of a trophy than a title?

Reece is worthy of a world title I'd say there's fighters no where near his calibre who have em, how have I never heard of bark house?? He's not ranked or owt??

Either way the KO was spectacular! It was fairly even up until that point although it was only 2nd round. Think im right in saying Barkhouse has very few 'pro' fights but has been around the amateur circuit for some time

It was shaping up to be a good fight Jason Barkhouse came to win and fought well in rnd 1 taking the round imho, however rnd 2 Reece changed tactics swarming and over running Jason with Punches finishing with a elbow which looked tome like it broke Jasons cheekbone, great change of tactics in rnd 2 from Gary Mc,I really hope Jason makes a full and speedy recovery,Iv been round the game a long while and though I hadnt heard of him before I thought he looked a real good fighter, big congrats to Reece and Gary:)

As Steve Broome, rightly points out. There is some major names and great matches have been made in the past to compete for these belts. Jackson Barkhouse has been on the amateur scene for a long time and between him and his trainer have decided to stay in the background. Jackson Barkhouse may not be ranked as a "PRO" but believe me, he is of good pedigree. Just because people turn to the "PRO" scene doesn't mean all the people in the rankings are the best or even deserve to be there. There always have and always will be fighters who don't wish to operate in the "PRO" circuits, and I bet many could out perform lots who are ranked. If Jackson Barkhouse decides to go down this route, he would cause upsets to lots of matches. He recently had a good fight with Andre Kulebin losing a points decision. And as Paul Pearson says he came to win and caused Reece some problems in the opening round delivering Reece a cut to his eye which is why I believe Reece came out with a very aggressive Round 2 (which I think if he fought with that kind of aggression in other future fights or indeed had he in previous fights) I think he would cause anyone BIG problems. These titles are nice titles to have, I've just had Luke Turner contact me for my next show and he wants to compete for one of these MAD titles.

There is an area of this sceptered isle covering approximately 500,000 square miles and containing 1.3 million people, that just get on with whatever they want to do, no fuss, no trumpet blowing, no looking over their shoulders to see who is taking notice, we just do it.that is why people rarely here of the great things happening here in the true north, there are many like Reece and Jackson still to come, when they think they are ready you will know.
