Yesterday, the post bring me the six videos of all the six K-1 fight-nights from
Switzerland. With six times andy hug in the mainevent and he won them all.
My question is: Who of you was a visitor of the K-1 fight-night ?

I have most of the Fight-Night videos. The the one where Andy axe kicked the big Thai Sadau into the gound is by far my favorite.

I can only wish I was at the fights live...

i think the name came from the criticism that mike was injured when he fought andy in the grand prix. this fight would decide once and for all who the best really was.

i especially liked andy's response to the interviewer. " no. i'm not coming to defend. i'm coming to judge."

mike looks in shape. haven't seen him look that strong since.....well, 1997.

I worked Andy's corner and was a member of Team Andy.
Anyone who wasn't there really and I mean really missed out.
The fans loved him. They were so proud of their countryman.
We would show up 5-6 weeks for the training in Switzerland.
Of course it was the best training.Andy's training regiment and focus
were legendary.Very few in any sport can balance the mind, body, and
spirit like the man himself. With the hallenstadium jam packed and
the fans all at once cheering ANDY! ANDY! ANDY! or everyone would
stomp their feet and go HUG! HUG! HUG!--Trust me! The videos do not
do any justice to being there live with that electricity!!!!
No other K-1 fighter will ever get that in their own country-never!
And talk about a man unbeatable in his own country-Now there was
a man with tons of pressure RISE to the TOP and perform so beautifully.
His aura was immense and what he brought to the ring was like no other
fighter-ever.Rest in Peace my friend.

I was at both Hug v Bernardo fights in Switzerland and the one where Andy fought Peter Aerts and Peter Crooke fought Delflorin. Great Shows. You are right - the atmosphere was amazing. The stadium was packed to the rafters.
I've got posters from the Hug v Aerts show and the first Bernardo fight on the wall in the gym signed by Andy and Aetrs, and Andy and Mike Bernardo.
One of the things that always impressed me about Andy Hug was the fact that he was prepared to take on such dangerous opponents in front of his home crowd.

Hi Dirk, my dear friend!

Great pictures/posters from some of the K-1 Fight Night in Switzerland. So finally you got the tapes on video, I guess that it is not that bad turning 41...LOL!

Felix:

Mike do looks very fit on the poster from the 1997 Fight Night, he "almost" looks like Andy. I wonder why he never stayed in that weight and fitness, because he was very fast and strong back in the middle and late 90´s, better than he is today.... But also younger.

T-Hill:

What is your really name? I hope that it is ok that I ask you, because I think that I know how you are, but I am not sure? Please let me know. Am I totally wrong if I am saying that you are on the poster from the 1998 K-1 Fight Night? Please mail T-Hill, thanks!!!! Respect from Copenhagen.

I dont get it??????

First I thought that T-Hill is/was Xhavit, but now I am not that sure?

I found this old topic here on the Axe, and by reading it, it do not sounds like T-Hill is the great Xhavit.

" .... The picture above where everyone is sitting was part of the ceremony.
You can barely see me to the right of Xhjavit's head. It was very
hard on him because it was his first time back in Japan since Andy's passing.
He was in Switzerland at the time preparing for a K-1 tournament. It was very difficult emotionaly. I don't know how Xhjavit could go ahead and fight a week or so after Andy's death but he did.It was very hard for him. Well,I hope I was able to answer some questions for you. I hope to hear from you soon Oliver.
Greetings,T-hill......."

........" I will give Xhjavit a OSU for you and I will also tell him of your article....."

......" Yes,I always keep in touch with Xhjavit. We have a bond for life.
We lived together at the Seido house. He is doing well.He had a boxing fight in South Africa not so long ago and did a great job. As for me, I had minor knee surgery at the end of summer......"

"If" T-Hill not is Xhavit, Deflorin or Majstorovic.... Well then I am back on ground zero. (I still got a few good cards left, but I think it is time for T-Hill to throw the dice first, before I show him my hand).

The thing that confuse me the most and makes it so dam difficult is, that T-Hill English is perfect! T-Hill use words, sentence and grammar when he is writing and answering messages, that only an American or Canadian will use. And as far as I know, there was no English member in Team Andy?

You are giving me gray hair T-Hill, but I guess that it is a part of the game?

Have a nice day and stay healthy. Osu and respect from Denmark,
Oliver.

P.S. T-Hill, did you ever meet Maria Crisp?

Hi Frederic.

I know that Andy Hug and Michael Thompsen was very good friends, and also that Michael was a "member" or helper of Team Andy. But Michael and Andy has been friends long before 1999, so that is the reason why I didn’t mentioned his name!

Oliver Sperling
Posted: 2002-04-30 04:01:33

Michael Thompsen
Oliver Sperling
Posted: 2002-04-30 04:05:50
Frederic:

Do you know who T-Hill is?

Oliver Sperling
Posted: 2002-04-30 04:30:48
Michael Thompsen and Andy have been fighting against each other in Kyokushin a couple of times back in the 80´s, and also in Seidokaikan karate back in 1995. (Michael defeated Andy on weight at the 1987 Kyokushin European championship)

I know that Michael Thompsen and Andy was good friends! The both visit Michael Wedel in Holland when he became professor, they travel a lot together and was close friends. So Michael Thompsen is a possibility, but if you read some of T-Hills former messages, it seems impossible, because T-Hill says that they started to train together back in 1999. Michael and Andy left the Kyokushin organization after the 5th World Open in 1991. It just doesn’t make any sense?

Fredric Rosenberg
Posted: 2002-04-30 04:48:19
I have not read the old messages but he was my first guess after reading some of the later posts .
He is a very nice guy and he was talking about coming to Sweden because he´s got a Swedish wife .
I told him if he ever does that i hope he could visit our gym i Malmo .
He was surposed to fight Larry Lindwall a couple of years ago i Copenhagen for the WKA European title .

If it is not him then i realy can´t guess who it is ........
Oliver Sperling
Posted: 2002-04-30 04:58:41
Thanks Frederic.

So you think that T-Hill is Michael Thompsen. Well, maybe "T" stands for Thompsen?

Here I have been trying for a looooooong time to find out who T-Hill is, and then it might be one of my biggest inspirations and heros, when I started to train Kyokushin back in 1985. Andy Hug, Michel Wedel, Michael Thompsen and Hiroki Kurosawa were my big inspirations, when I as a young fighter started to fight Kyokushin knock down.

When are going to fight in Copenhagen the next time Frederic?
Fredric Rosenberg
Posted: 2002-04-30 05:07:33
Well now i guess it is up to T-Hill to tell us if we are on the right track or not.......?

I will fight this weekend in Kalunborg against Soren Hansen .
The event will take place in Kalunborgshallen ( i think that´s the name ).

Mike Mcdonald?????????????????????????
Oliver Sperling
Posted: 2002-04-30 07:43:05
I don’t know what to think Seido?

First I thought that T-Hill is/was Xhavit, but reading some of the old messages here on the Axe, it can not be him?

Then I thought it could be Deflorin or Majstorovic? But they have both known Andy before 1999. I got pictures of a young Deflorin together with Andy from the late 80's early 90's....?????

Michael Thompsen is also out of the pictures - He has been in business long before 1999. Andy and Michael Thompsen was best friends, they knew each other from their time in Kyokushin. They both left Kyokushin after the 5th World Open back in 1991. So if "T-Hill" says that he learned to know Andy back in 1999, Thompsen is also out of the picture?

McDonald is a possibility. He took part in the funeral, he speaks perfect English and is also an active fighter, but I am not sure?

Not walking to or from the ring in any tournament, not in Japan or in Switzerland. And I have not seen any private pictures of the two together?

1) Did you take part in the training session and Team Andy promotion in Switzerland in Mai 2000 - see photos above??

2) Did you know who Maria Crisp is?? (Just need to answer yes or no)

3) Being a member of Team Andy, you told me/us that you always will keep in touch with Xhjavit, and that you two have a bond for life. What about Thomas Kastl, is he also a friend of yours?

4) You where at the Nippon Hospital in Japan when Andy passed away, and you also took part in the funereal. Was you one of the few who carried Andy’s coffin?

I know that is very private question and I hope that it is ok that I ask you T-Hill. Please don’t misunderstand, I am not trying to be disrespectful - I am only trying so solve a mystery and to stop my grey hair growing.

All my deepest respect who ever you are. Stay in touch and stay healthy,
Osu!

K-1 braves'99 (togerther with andy he was in xavit's corner)
K-1Gp'99 he was with him.
I've seen him training with andy as well,in japan.

That shoot fighter who died was that "taira " dont know his second name
but it begins with N ,... When did he die?
I happen to know that Taira (the guy in andys corner) fought an iranian guy called Farshid (or was it Faraidoun) Maleky from iran.
Farshid and Faraidoun Maleky currently run the Maleky Gym in Tehran , Iran.

i'm betting on the black sniper, mcdonald.

he's said that he wasn't mcdonald, but has since given way too many hints that suggest that that is who he is.

t-hill is probably short for "top of the hill". that is where he is standing now.

mcdonald it one of my favourite fighters. how many times was he brought to the ring to boost his opponents record? pettas, feitosa, mirko. what happened to those guys? they all were sent to the canvas by a "soft puncher". most recently mike got to meet rick roufus who knocked him out in one round years ago. revenge was sweet.

McDonald used to be a whipping boy when he was younger (and in his prime athletic years), to all sorts of guys! Million dollar body, ten cent chin! Dennis Alexio, Grant Barker, Rick Roufus, Ray Sefo etc etc. How is it in his mid-30's he actually became a good contender??? Bizarre, yet good for him! Someone said something about competition decreasing...no fault of his of course, but makes you think a bit! Rick Roufus has the wear and tear of being an upper-echelon fighter for so long, he is past it, McDonald is only finding some form lately!

McDonald has always been in the picture and on my mind. But in then beginning I thought that T-Hill was Axhavit. But after T-Hill told us that he was a good friend with Xhavit, it kind of changes everything.

It has not been easy to find out who he really is, even do it all the time only could have been a handful of fighters. Xhavit, Deflorin, Majstorovic or McDonald.

Michael Thompsen never came to my mind, because his friendship with Andy Hug goes back to the 80´s, and he was also in Andy's corner back in 1994.... So in my eyes T-Hill could only be Xhavit, Deflorin, Majstorovic or McDonald.

And now it seems like our good friend is the champ from Las Vegas: McDonald.
