Jeremy is from Perth W.A. & is trained by Rod Power. Jeremy has had 40+Thai/Kickboxing fights & 20+ boxing fights.I think he was a reserve for the Aust. boxing team for the Sydney Olympics.

Hi everyone

Well Kelly Seif did it again... what a corker of a show.

Daniel Dawson was at his supreme best... I have never seen Dawson look THIS good... the guy was on the money all night and, sorry for the language, but he has developed some "cunt" in his fighting and has this definable mean streak in him now in which he just hurts guys. It was a thrill to watch.

Chopper vs Allan was one of the year's best slugouts - Chopper looked good to start then in the second Allan lands a left hook that grounds the Chopper - Oh My God, Shock!!

Anyway, for all money Chopper is gone but then in the third Chopper comes back and almost KO's Allan. I had the fight as a draw and would have given an extension round (10-10, 10-8, 8-10) but the judges gave the first round 10-9 to Allan and that's what made the difference.

Allan was banged up for the final but did well. In the fifth he caught a rib shot and just couldn't soldier on... but he won over the crowd with his gutsiness and he won over his girlfriend who he PROPOSED TO after the show (Fox Sports taped this so you will all see it... teary eyes)

His KO of Darren Reece was in 9 seconds!! I think that may be a record - double left hook to the head and Reece was grounded for a few minutes.

Anyway, great show, dont miss it when it comes on Fox.

THE SCHIAVELLO REPORT CARD

1. Daniel Dawson (10/10)
A flawless performance from a fighter who is looking unbelievable.

2. Jeremy Allan (8/10)
A real freak show who, if he would have been a bit smarter in the 3rd against Chopper, could have won the fight and lessened the toll on his body.

3. Shane Chapman (8/10)
Nothing bad about the Chopper... he was awesome as usual and it was just that ONE shot by Allan that rattled him.

4. Warren Elson (7/10)
Making a comeback after 18 months is not easy... in his first fight against Dixon he looked the goods, but got caught with knees and maybe a busted rib in the semi... Elson is back folks.

5. Aleksei PErkachyk (7/10)
Yes, the man who fatefully had that last fight against Chatchai.. a little Belarussian powerhouse with slapping kicks... would like to see more of him in Oz... hey Zambidis, try this guy on for size??

6. Aaron Dixon (6.5/10)
There is nothing holy about 'The Altar Boy'... good set of hands, just needs some more grunt

7. Prince Hamid Boujoub (6.5/10)
I was impressed... in the first round he took it up to Dawson and even stunned him with some excellent spinning kick displays... another man I'd like to see more of under kickboxing rules.

8. Darren Reece (no score)
Didnt have time to do anything. Unfortunatelt it was all over for the Riddler after only 9 seconds... but after such a long lay off it was always going to be hard... good luck Darren, hope to see you back in the ring soon mate.

Undercard

Nick Kara (7/10)
Solid if unsensational performance from Kara who is having a stellar year. Was set to fight Daniel Tai but due to unforseen circumstances took on Walker on short notice... Kara had chances to pound him but didnt take them.

Chad Walker (7/10)
Played in clever for five rounds moving laterally around the ring to prevent Kara bundling him in the corner... smart kid, only 19, big future.

Judgement Day (10/10)
Continues to be the best middleweight tourney in Australasia... Kelly Seif is just like a McCain's frozen dinner - you've done it again!

lol..wow, sounds like an awesome show...Dawson sounds on fire..that mean streak is what i think is one of the key differences between the Aussies and the Dutch..looks like the Aussies are catching up...if anyone knows where i can get a tape, please let me know

He trains like demon, personally I think he's the money. Hopefully it's just a rough patch, what does not destroy you makes you stronger right, so im sure he'll comeback twice as hard.

I DONT KNOW . HE MUST BE REALY DOWN AFTER THIS ONE.HOW DOES A FIGHTER COME BACK AFTER THAT.WHAT DO CAN YOU SAY TO HIM .HE HASNT HAD A KO FOR I WHILE.I THINK THIS WEIGHT IS TO LIGHT FOR HIM.HE SHOULD MOVE UP AND GAIN POWER.DAWSON IS TO GOOD .HE IS THE WORLD CHAMP.I HOPE TO SEE HIM IN K1 THIS YEAR.

I have to agree with Ritchie(I know I spelt that write, I mean wright...oh shit I mean right...nah only kidding Ritchie) How are you anyway man? I hope you can get a fight for September 19th.

You have to keep fighting if you want to stay sharp and that's what Shane has been doing. Maybe it was just a bad night! If you are an exponent of Muay Thai or any hardcore full contact sport you have to train like a Demon. Regardless if you're Amateur or Professional. And training like a Demon, helps to get your mind set. I know Shane will come back, he's an exceptional athlete and he carries the banner for New Zealand sky high. He has achieved so much that alot of us can only dream about. He'll come back you'll see.

As for Daniel Dawson, his born to fight gift overshadows who he is as a person. Not only is he the man in the ring. I found him to be a genuinely cool guy. No pretences about who he is just humble, you know the kind of attitude that's right in the eyes of society. A good role model for kids that need inspiration.

Take Care Ritchie and...

see you on the moon...

I didnt see anything wrong with Chopper... in his quarter final he was brilliant... typical Chopper, spot on the money with technique, power and guts... it was just that he got clocked by a very good puncher in the second round of his semi and couldnt recover, although he powered back in the next round and almost dropped Allan! I would have given it an extension, and I think you would have seen Chopper prevail and meet Dawson in the final if this was the case because Allan was banged up badly... but thems the breaks... Chop Chop has still got it, don't worry about that, the man is a brilliant fighter.

I didn't see anything wrong with Chopper either, I thought he fought his usual kick ass style. Just got caught, thats all.

Guys, what's Alexsei like as a fighter.?
It's pretty hard to tell from the one fight of his which have now seen.
Has he had any great wins over any other champions that we in Aus and NZ would have heard of?

what are u talking about kiwiboy? Choppa is the man!

I am sure chopper is still a great fighter and hasn't changed at all. He has had some very tough fights this year, you can't win them all guys so don't write him off just cos he loses a few,it will only make him stronger and more hungry.
Its very hard to keep your conditioning when you come back from thailand and try to settle back into normal life in nz aswell-I know.
chopper is still a force to be reckoned with!

I know Alexei has fought many great Thai's and had approx 60 fights he was unfortunatley the last one to fight Chatchai. He does not look like a natural middleweight.

Sorry Vince.hey i thing Choppa is a good fighter .But you know you have to think that my be he needs to try something different.I mean Michael said it all in one word 'typical' Choppa. If you watch Choppas fights you will see that he always seem to take it easy you know get a feel in the first round.Do you agree.what about you Michael Schiavello do you notice this too.
that first round is what lost him the fight and he tends to lose most of his first round so the record shows.
I feel that Choppa will be back guys.Well he is a "KIWI" lol

Posted: 2002-09-05 05:41:56
Choppa is definately the man. he is also an awesome guy. Id like to aspire to be as great of a fighter as he is. hes got it all. I think that he feels out in the first round like that because he has been taught be thais and that seems to be what they generally do. I think that it is also usually a smart thing to do.

PAUL

YOUR DOING A GREAT JOB.I'LL HAVE TO RATE YOU AS ONE OF THE BEST .CONTACT SPORT LIKE THIS MUST BE HARD TO TAKE A SHOT CAUSE EVERYTHING IS SO FAST BUT YOU TEND TO HIT IT AT THE RIGHT TIME.IS IT TIMING OR WHAT?HOW CAN SOME ONE GET INTO THIS KIND OF JOB?WHAT DO YOU NEED?
Paul
Posted: 2002-09-08 21:01:32
thanks Kiwiboy,

Gee dude, I honestly don't think it's possible to make a living out of shooting pro sports alone.

You'd have to do other photographic jobs that pay well, and shoot sport for the love of it because it just doen't pay enough. Though, this may be different in Japan.

Weddings are a total pain in the ass, but one of those pays about as much as 20 kickboxing jobs. I'm not kidding about this.

Though, if you did want to shoot Kickboxing shows, you don't actually need very much. Just an SLR type camera and a single lens is all.

Thanks James,

I know I've put these up pretty late guys, but figure may as well finish uploading them, they may be of some use later on.

I'm going to have to start naming these images properly with the fighters names, hopefully one day we may be able to do an ax dedicated search through the old thread archives.
