Topic:Frank The Animal Lobman Returns
EricR
Posted: 2002-12-11 06:22:06
Frank the Animal Lobman returns at 2H2H March 16th 2003 in Rotterdam.

This legendary fighter wants to do 1 more fight before retirement from the ring before he turns 50. FRANK LOBMAN will fight JAN OOSTERBAAN.
Frank Lobman was a feared fighter and most famous for his deadly low licks.
I'm not sure, but I think he holds the record in Holland for most fights won on KO. Maybe Dirk has more statistics on that.

Regards,
Eric

I think that he was a tough fighter with especialy "boxing skills"...especialy boxing maneveours (uppercuts & hooks) during clinches were the most feared weapons of this fighter...

he once was also in istanbul at a gala (1993 ?), but he was so strong so that he played with his opponent at that time...

nice to see him again and wish success always...

I watched a video of Lobman vs Ken Shamrock and Man, Lobman schooled Shamrock in the art of kickboxing. I just couldnt believe how hard the guy was low kicking. Bugger that man, he was awesome and I would love to see him fight again.

Shaun,

That is a big discussion on the Dutch board also.
Can a nearly 50 year old man do such a big show. (2H2H always gets around 8000 visitors at their yearly March events).

Well the organisation qualified him as extremely fit. Frank still nearly every day works out apparently. But indeed you can never tell.
Only other example I can think of is "Grandpa" Larry Holmes.

Anyway, it seems Frank is coming over to FFC later to do the last few weeks of training with Lucien Carbin. I'll let you know my thoughts then.

Take care,
Eric

Without doubt one of the all time greats!!He was and is in my mind the ultimate tough guy who would relish the challenges that other so called champions avoided. His final bout with Aerts was fantastic.
A role model for all fighters!
Does any one have any idea who i should contact for a copy of the tape on VHS format ???

As a fighting role model - he was awesome and a great character - but I'm not sure about the Bazooka Antics in Holland though.

Frank is a legend no doubt but at age 50 is pushing it. I mean hasn't this guy proven he is a great fighter already? I think he may mar his reputation and more importantly get injured unneccesarily at almost 50.
