lol! Sorry Mr. Smith. I guess you should take it as compliment that the matchup hasn't gone unnoticed. I've trained with Masuda before and seen him fight a few times. I'll look forward to this one.

Good luck Liam, kick as in Japan!! :)
Satankid
Posted: 2003-06-26 02:28:09

Liam- it's a japanese site and it's all in japanese.

Hiromasa Masuda: age: 29
pro-fight record: 24fights 17wins(10ko) 4losses 3draws

In his last fight, in March, it took him just 19 seconds to KO Hisanori Maeda with a punch!
Satankid
Posted: 2003-06-26 02:28:26

Last december he drew with a Thai called Sainamnoi Siphaipetch..
Satankid
Posted: 2003-06-26 02:28:48

Last September Masuda (right) got knocked down twice in round 1 from punches and somehow survived not getting knocked out as his Japanese opponant practically punched his head off. At the end of the round his eyes were rolling and he looke dhalf unconcious. However he miraculously came back to win by 4th round KO from lowkicks....
Satankid
Posted: 2003-06-26 02:29:02

In july last year he drew with Ratchadamnern champion, Noppagao. However, Noppagao was not 100% fit and it showed.
Satankid
Posted: 2003-06-26 02:29:15

In March of last year he got KO'd in 53 seconds of round 1 from a punch-kick combo by Haruaki Otsuki.
Satankid
Posted: 2003-06-26 02:29:27

I was at the middle 3 of these 5 fights and I can you that he is good but beatable. He seems to prefer single power shots to combinations and throws a lot of elbows.

Mr Smith,

I assume this is a Thai rules show?? It says Kick Boxing on the poster. I will be over there from the 18th till the 23rd, must say hello.

Cheers,

FB'Slim

p.s. All the very best Liam, I will be shouting for you.
Mr Smith
Posted: 2003-07-11 07:08:09
Cool - yes all the fights are full Thai Rules. The Japanese are a bit funny about calling it "Thai" Boxing.
Satankid
Posted: 2003-07-11 07:08:22
Fatbot- In Japan they call Thai rules 'kickboxing'.

FATBOY
Posted: 2003-07-11 16:48:38
Mr Smith,

Which City area is the Kouraken Hall situated in?? Do you have the address? I will be staying in Himeji City and would like to know how far it is to where Liam is fighting.

Let me know what info you have.

Cheers,

FB'Slim
Mr Smith
Posted: 2003-07-11 18:33:42
Its in Tokyo. Not sure of the address but its near Tokyo Dome.
Maybe Satankid can help.
Satankid
Posted: 2003-07-11 19:16:52
Fatboy- once you get into the centre of Tokyo you need to catch a train on the JR Yamanote line to Suidobashi station. You can find a map of the Tokyo train network, in English, at the airport or at a train station- the Yamanote line is usually depicted in green.
When you come out of Suidobashi station you will see a huge rollercoaster and Tokyo Dome (it's unmissable). Head for Tokyo Dome and Korakuen Hall is literally next to it. There are maps of the area posted around Tokyo Dome but the venue is not hard to find.
Hope this helps.
FATBOY
Posted: 2003-07-12 04:56:50
Satankid,

Thanks for that, I will arrive in Himeji on the 19th. Would you know how long it would take from Himeji to Suidobashi station?? I would love to go to this show but need to understand logistics etc. What train line would I need from Himeji to Tokyo?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

FB'Slim
Satankid
Posted: 2003-07-12 22:39:27
Fatboy- If you look on a map of Japan you will find Himeji somewhere between Osaka and Okayama. It is about 300 miles from Tokyo. I've never been there so I don't know the route of travel between the 2 cities but I'm sure you'll be able to find that info at the airport's information desk. Travelling by train is relatinely cheap compared with UK and the express trains are pretty fast.

Me & Dirty Dave were over to do some sparring with Mark last week. He is looking very sharp. We both have the bruises to prove it!
Its a shame the two events arent a bit closer to one another.
FATBOY
Posted: 2003-07-14 04:14:59
Mr Smith,

I was watching Mark sparring yesterday and you are right he does look sharp. Fortunately I am not big enough or daft enough to don the headguard and get in there with him!!

Be great if we could see Liam fight in Japan but if we don't get there wish him all the best and lets show Japan that we have some great fighters in the UK.

Cheers,

I can confirm that Mark Russell does indeed cause severe bruising.

He'll do well if he keeps practising........... :-)

Good luck to Mark, and Liam of course, in Japan.

Here's hoping Masuda is a bit of a "yurizoku barazoku" and has a very small "ChinChin". He he...

I understand, from a Japanese site, Liam won by KO at 2:55 of round 3. According to the site it was a 3-knockdown stoppage as a result of Liam's powerful punches- ultimately a hook. Well done Liam!

Apparantly, Samkor also won by KO in rnd 3 and Kaolan drew with Takahiko Shimizu.

I have to write as under Mr. Smith as i'm such a bleedin technophobe! Spoke to Richard and he said that he had Liam just ahead on points up to the stoppage. Masuda was trying to hammer Liam's legs and was strong. In round three, Liam connected with a right hand, next knockdown was a left hook and then right hand but Richard 'll probably change all this when he gets back and watches it again on video ( and no doubt he will fill you in in intricate detail about the whole show!!)
We're all very proud of our little dangermouse : )

Samkors fight was wkd he he won by K.O in the 3rd from excessive left body and low kicks, however his french opponent was very dangerous and cut samkor with an elbow in the second, all in all the show was wkd it even had a male vs female fight and the girl won, i think she was thai.

Liam/ Mr. Smith- there was a bloke called Yuya Yamamoto who fought(and won) a few bouts before your fight. Did you catch any of this fight? If so, what was it like? cheers.

ps.. the girl who beat the male fighter was Japanese.
Mr Smith
Posted: 2003-07-22 16:54:51
Sorry Satankid - no I didnt see the fight. We were in the changing room warming up. I watched the male v female fight, the 2 main fights after Liams (the Thais) and kept my eye on the international fights before Liams, but wasnt really able to see any of the other. Samkor was awsome. His left leg is unbelievable. Kaolans fight was given a draw, but I though Kaolan won clearly.
