as part of my degree course I had to research the history of Black women and came across the following:

....finally, many women outside of metropolitan areas are used as guinea pigs and are at the mercy of multinational drug companies. For example: the North Carolinian based centre for research on population and security, which produced a drug used to sterilize women without their knowledge or consent. The drug was secretly administered during routine pelvic examinations. This drug is/was able to render women irreversibly sterile. Though this information is from the internet it is believed that over 70,000 women worldwide have been sterilized with the drug!

Anytime a new drug needs to be tested, it's the African population that gets the needle..with or without consent!!!
