Golota considering K1.

I cut this from fightnews.com

Golota to make comeback?
By Marcin Wierzbicki
According to news sources in Poland, heavyweight Andrew Golota (36-4) will return on August 14 after a two and a half year break since his controversial fight against Mike Tyson. His opponent will reportedly be Brian "Big Man" Nix (18-10) and the fight is scheduled for 10 rounds at Dover Downs Casino in Dover Downs, DE (Note: A Dover Downs spokesperson told Fightnews no such fight is currently on the schedule). Golota says he resumed training two months ago and two weeks ago started his first sparring sessions. His hand, broken in a car accident in which Golota's friend died a couple of years ago, has not fully recovered yet since the surgery in Poland last summer. Golota named "boredom and hunger for boxing" as his motivation to go back to boxing despite other offers. The "Foul Pole" admitted he got an invitation to participate in a K1 tournament and was seriously considering it as he thinks boxing skills are vital in this competition. He also said he doesn't worry about the pending court trial in Poland where Golota is accused of beating a man who allegedly blocked the entrance to a hotel.

I am suprised anyone wants anything to do with the guy after his history in the ring. But, it's boxing. Tony Ayala has one the most checkered past of any fighter and he just fought a few months ago on Fox Sports Net. Golota would fit in perfect in the Bob Sapp K-1.

Isn't Tyson almost bankrupt? Someone offer him a $mill or two to enter!!! I am sure they would cover their money with pay tv subscriptions

I asked him point blank if he was considering K-1 and he said no.

He is a scary dude.

There were rumors going around that he was learning to kick, etc.. So I asked him about it and he said no. But he is training still, so more boxing could be in the works!

when i first watched the ufc i thought delucia would beat gracie. i thought smith and gracie was a coin toss. i thought the boxer was smart for wearing a glove on one hand.

ten years later, i know better.

getting a few boxers like butterbean and golata will give the k-1 some ink and will give the k-1 the chance to prove whatever they need to prove to the boxing community.

i wouldn't suggest an exodus. too many boxers might draw attention from the real kickboxers.
