Francisco Filho won by decision.

Toa...
Great pictures!
Nice to see Glaube Feitosa in Filho´s corner. (first picture)
How was the fight?
great pictures..AWESOME..but i still think the real maori warrior should be in TOAS place and thats the TEE MAN...as TOA hasnt done the hard yards like him..
Bugs you and I both agree on that one.
OSu!
what is toas real name? has he fought in nz before?
Rex
His name is Paul Kingi.
Ex Nz Strong man competitor.
Comes From around Dannivirke way.
& has'ent fought in Nz, Not in kickboxing anyways
but has had some boxing & wrestling fights some years ago.
1 boxing fight? at the ABA got KOed with left hook from a crusier weight.
Good at Haka though LOL.
According to my bro he was trainning in Whakatane with Selwyn Jones an old trainner from the Bay Of Plenty area.I reckon it sux that boys like Andrew,Jason and Dougie have to fight off in the local tournaments, considering that these boys have done the hard yards.I doubt Toa would get past either of the afore mentioned, maybe K1 should be more interested in giving wild cards like Jason or Dougie a go.Got me stomped on why.....OOOH its Japan thats right boys,he is using the front of a Maori Warrior,so he gets threw after qualifying threw the local pubs, gets a moko just for the fight and the press conference and then he is in.My bro went to sparr him but they got word that he don t mess around,so he turned down doing a couple of rounds...Apparently only sparred in boxing a bit,no boxing fightsI heard he gets good money too, very tough on the boys.I am quite sure collectvely we could put a gimmick together. That is sad.
i agree dangerous..andrew,jason,dougie and even hiriwa should be on in japan instead of TOA..but i think hiriwa would be better as he has done the no rules fighting and i think he is the nz cage fighting champion too..but also jason cos he is the best little top fighter in the heavyweights, and andrew has the power to win with those hard powerhouse kicks and dougie with his speed..i think TOA should be in the next k1 so the real boys can whoop his whoop whoop..lol ...and powerhouse i think he can do the haka really well i heard..must be that moko...lol..osu
hey mr powerhouse..have always been wondering, me and a friend had a bet of what osu means when you sign off... he said it means OH SHUT UP and i said to him it means a respective bow in karate like HAI...can you verify which of us is right.and rex TOA was at the k1 this year, i think he was in edwin marsh corner..and have you made it onto shortland street yet rexy..lol
Its a Karate Term and it means to push on or continue to do my best(in honor to trainers and people who have put time into me) it is a very respectfull term that I try to live by you know budo the way of the warrior and all that, I am a Karate fighter and very proud of it.
OSU!
thanx powerhouse...i just won my bet..yippeee..yahooooeeee..boing..boing
i think a moko is a maori tattoo that the new zealand maoris have on their face. in the old days during wars it use to scare alot of people.
Where are TOA´S tattoos in his face on the press photo?
hi oliver..TOAS moko is not real.. i think he had a moko on half his face as its only for display for the press
Ok, and I thought it was a real tattoo.
It seems like TOA is not as dumb as Tyson, good for him. Face tattoos is not pretty, to say it very polite!
Thanks bugs Bunny!
Merry Xmas and a happy new year Oliver,People have opinions Oliver and me .....This time I can say that my opinion in this matter is based on my ancestary.I was born in NZ to a maori father and a half cast english mother. My last few years in school were spent at a Anglican Maori boys college where we were taught things regarding the Maori culture. It may seem strange to you but unfortunately 90per cent of my people do not speak our native tongue. That is sad in the context that it takes away a certain amount of MANA or pride from the people, hence the movie Once were Warriors.Which depicted the state of living in the Ghetto s of N.Z.The moko is a tatoo that was passed on to the warrior when he had earnt his right to stand with cheifs and Tohungas .experts.in battle .It is highly regarded by maori people as the next step to cheiftan.Which is followed by an expert and then Cheif.I know that you were unaware of it but I also get asked about it all the time. It was very painful in application but the rewards were those other wise reserved for kings.TOA wears it to express his culture and it works,I personally have nothing against him but the current Tohungas would. The point been is that not all facial tatoos are ugly. The maori moko is a mark of respect and as much as the haka is associated with it they signify a certain beauty that we are fighting hard to rebuild.I will try and post some sights latter that will show you the real mc coy.Toa in maori would means Warrior.
thanks dangerous...i didnt know all that
Dangerous:
I am sorry if I sound like I disrespected your background, that was not my attention - and I was not trying to talk down on Maori or any other culture!
Still I think that tattoos in the face in not pretty; Maori, Tyson or Danish. And it comes from me, who have tattoos on both my arms from the shoulder down below my elbow, and also on my back.
Again, I am sorry for the use of words Dangerous - it is nothing personal. It might be a mark of respect, but in my world it I think that getting tattoos in the face, is not pretty.
Kia Ora Oliver, if I may add to what dangerous has written ( I agree with what he has said too )
The moko displays a person's lineage, their status within their community, area(s) of expertise ( for some it could be weaponry, martial arts, diplomacy, oratory skill even ), achievements and history. To wear a moko carries with it great expectations and responsibility, ie. humility and respect, no drugs or alcohol, to partake in any of these would be to denigrate it's meaning or purpose.
There has been a resurgence in the wearing of moko, women wear the facial moko as well ( moko can be almost anywhere on the body ) but only on the chin and lips. Actually I know a few women who wear the moko and I have to say they look quite beautiful ( IMHO )
toa also means ' to win ' or ' champion '
kia tau te rangimarie ki te katoa
( peace on earth )
No problem Oliver I was just trying to enlighten you bro,I do also think that certain tatoos are not so good looking, but I am constantly seeing certain people from different walks of life assume the role of a living canvas.I noted that Ernestoo Hoosts stable mate Gerald Venetian has an awesome peice of art on his chest which is a maori design.I guess the most famous moko is the one Robbie Williams has and personlly I think it looks o.k.,thanks to James Ihaka for clarifying a few points.Oliver when is Carter fighting again,he is great fighter and I love watching him fight.Later Oliver hope you your boys and their families have a merry xmas and a great new year.OLIVER if I was to get a Moko would that get me a fight in the states, let me know asap .All the best team VOODOO.
Tena korua ki Dangerous raua ko James.
Thanks for your input, Maori have a beautiful culture and language and it makes me proud to see things like this explained so clearly.
Kia ora, Diesel.
Ki ora Diesel sent your email, off to the gym now b bak in a couple of hours.Oliver I am waiting ......
kia ora for that DZL and Dangerous
all the best for 2004 and maybe see you guys at the NZ v OZ K1 in Akld
Ki ora tama I hoping Dixon will put me on either against Baris or anyone else.I am very keen to get home and fight.I come cheap.
..." OLIVER if I was to get a Moko would that get me a fight in the states, let me know asap .All the best team VOODOO"...
?
I don’t understand your point Dangerous, or your kind of humor? Please come again, thanks.
I was hoping that if I got a moko u could get your boys to hook me up a fight.Only joking my old friend,,,,,Kiwi humour mind u I been in Australia for 11yrs.Oliver where is Hector Penna these days and what is he doing,he was 1 hell of a fighter.Him and Steve Vicks fight in Melbourne was the best ever in Australia.I also thought u were associated to team voodooo.I am a kickboxer cant you tell.
Ok... I am slowly!
Kiwi humor and the English language sometimes bring me in bigger trouble and problems, than Nakasako gets in when he is fighting Jerome.
I am not associated to Team Woodoo, that is Gene you have to talk to. And about Hector Penna, I simply dont know what he is doing or who he is?
He was the former WKA Welterweight Kickboxing Champion who fought here on the Stan THE MAN VS Dennis Alexio card.He was very tough and If I recall he also fought Ramon Dekker. He was an awesome fighter who i recall was 1 of the best kickboxers in the world. He was awesome...Mexican Machine....
yeah dangerous..hector penna was an awesome fighter and so was steve vicks..i guess its just the old time fighters like yourself know these lengendery fighters..i remember you yourself was a tough fighter too..
i think pena has been retired for a while, but there was talk recently of him
coming out of retirement to fight danny steele. i havent heard any more about this, maybe someone in the so. cal scene might know?
Thanks Bugs ,Time has made me wiser, and I still know that I can ruffle a tew feathers. And Dave Lucas,Hector was my American favourite next to Sugar foot Cunningham, and my Aussie favourite at that time was Steve Vick.No dis respect but he was 1 tuff White boy.....How he did that many rounds with Hector was beyond me.
BUGS When and who did you see me fight.....Get bak ...
if pena were fighting today, he'd be k-1 max champion.
by "if" i mean if his time were now rather than then. i don't mean if he were an unretired old guy.
Under the current K1 rules for sure,I have been in the game for over 14 years and I have never seen a fighter so intense and as sharp as Hector. He lost to Ramon Dekker but yeah Oliver he was the best American Kickboxer ever. Many may argue but he never turned down a fight and he fought them all.He in my opinion was better then the Jet,Don the Dragon Wilson and Roufus.I may b biast but I do beleive I am right, the only other yank that came close 2 him was sugar foot, and that was nt by much.Hector Pena has his fight etched in my head, and to Steve Vick you fought an awesome fight that day mate ,all the best.
ive heard about the vick-pena fight but have never seen it. as a matter of fact,
the only two fights of his ive seen have been his fights to coban and dekker, which probably dont give a good view of his abilities.
I for got that he fought Cobarn, but I guess that goes to prove that he was always willing.Cobarn was awesome I seen him fight Jombing live in NZ, thats when Songchai would take his crew around the world. The Thais killed the kiwis and the NZ based thais. It was awesome I had just started trainning and I had 1 fight for 1 win. That was kickboxing at its best.
hi dangerous, i saw you fight many moons ago..i cant remember if it was at the lumpinee stadium in otahuhu or in panmure at rosies i think...
Yeah Lumpinee Stadium and Rosies thanks bugs,I fought at Lumpinee heaps and Rosies I fought in a tough man comp. That was years ago, memories. The old days a,old memories and good times.Thank you bugs.
