Good Technique,

Hi, I would like some images and opinions on what makes a technique good.

Will start with this one, The stance and foot position is spot on, guard is maintained and the technique is executed with power and accuracy.

Is this a shot of you traing NMT? You could easily write an instruction manual and title it "Basic Thai Boxing for Dumbies" :-)

Chadwick v Donnelly.
Great knee. Up on the ball of his foot on the standing leg, toes pointed.
If I wanted to split hairs, you could say that the right hand should be across the front to defend against any possible counter punches coming back....however given the opponents balance is sat way back, this wouldnt be a possibility.
Good effect, striking on target.

PS Was this FTR? ;)

Good push kick. Good balance. On the ball of his standing leg.
Good extention through the hip.
Could maybe keep hands a little tighter, but I dare say this wouldnt be a problem is its not head contact. Could also drop the chin slightly.

But as you say Dazza, they appear to be having the desired effect, so all good.

Cant really comment on the first pic, I dont understand what they are doing.
Is he shoving him with his hip? Or winding up a right hand hand-bag?

Unfortunatley it wasn't FTR, Scott went to frab and knee at smae tiem and Steve tried to duck out of it, end result a very bad ko. Fortuantely Steve was okay.

Fight was declared a no Contest, twas the first/second round

The high kick (2 pics up) is taken from a thread on Chokemuay. There are some amzing pics on that thread, but the most interesting thing is how relaxed the Thais are when they deliver the kicks compared to their opponents

Could someone post some good technical combos to practice during a technical session, say like anticipating an opponents kick and catching him with a teep and also the key behind the tecnique such as in that one watching for when they shift their weight onto their grounded leg so you'll know when to teep.
Or say right leg kick (opponent blocks) quick hook to head as distraction and follow through with leg kick again, they usually don't cop on there's another leg kick coming.

lol...I have heard that too.
Saying that, I think in this particular photo, he isnt really on the ball of his foot and his hands are a bit low.....but his opponents weight is on the back foot so not really in a position to counter. I dare say that Saenchai's speed, agility and counter-techniques would get him out of any bother should a counter-attack come.
Also, I am aware that we are mere minions in comparison, so probably couldnt fathom how he would get out of such a situation.

I think his strongest attributes are his balance, footwork, timing and control. Its as if he has a radar and can sense that "millimetre adjustment" required.
He makes people look clumsier than they actually are, and the fact that he is able to do this means that he can afford to play with his opponents.
