Hi all,
we have once again been working hard in conjunction with the UKMF to bring the IFMA amateurs to Cambridge.

The date has been set, the officials are ready, the medical staff will be onsite, the equipment is supplied, and the opportunity is now... will you be there?
If you have any fighters you wish to attend this competition, then please email me their details (Name, Age, Weight, Gender, Experience).
Note** Please forward on to any instructors who you believe would be interested in getting their students onto the English IFMA Team.
Thankyou

Hi all,
due to another gym pulling out all its fighters, there will now be restrictions enforced against offending clubs.
I can sympathise with gyms pulling one, possibly two fighters out.. as these things can happen. However gyms pulling out in excess of five fighters is just beyond belief.
The amateur scene is new, granted. But I work my ass off prior, during and after the event to make it possible.
If you put your fighters forward for these events in future, then please ensure they will be available.
One gym will no longer be invited to any UKMF amateur events as a result of pulling their fighters out.

Hey all,
Please be aware that the UKMF will now only fund fighters who have UKMF licenses and who are trained at a UKMF licensed member gym.
Your fighters may continue their activity within the UKMF Amateur scene, but they will not be given opportunity to join the home nation teams.
This is until both the fighter and the fighters gym is a fully paid up member of the UKMF.

Ahhh, no offence to anyone but dude, what fight were you watching!
It was an AMATEUR fight yeah? Completely different scoring system.
Liam is obviously a really good fighter but he'll need to work on point scoring tactics for when he fights at the amateurs.
As far as i could tell, he had the fight given to him purely because Callan couldn't join the England team and that fight was for a place.
For sure if that had been a proper fight he would have scored a nice scalp, Callan is an excellent and highly regarded fighter, but if we're going to go into the 'if's' then i'll just add that IF it had been a proper fight then Callan 1.)Wouldn't have taken it because he had a broken rib and had elbow surgery yesterday, and 2.) Callan would have fought a completely different fight.
As it was, he was fighting amateur for the first time and was not bothering about power but busy scoring points. A lot more points than Liam might i add!
Anyway, like i said, no disrespect intended, just thought that needed to be said.
Karen Lynch
how can u say no disrespect intended and no offence when u make comments like
"As far as i could tell, he had the fight given to him purely because Callan couldn't join the England team and that fight was for a place." I cant comment on the fight as i didnt see it and i'm no familar with the ifma rules but that is just disrespectful to the organizers and the judges. All the judges have to pass assessments and i would for one minute not think Ryan would allow a fight to be awarded to someone on the basis that the other fighter couldnt make the team.I understand u must know Callan and that u dont agree with some peoples comments which is fair enough but putting comments like that is disrespectful to everyone involved with the event as it is clear that Ryan and his team have been working very hard to promote the ifma's and to say they are just awarding fights to people is wrong.
Fair call, i take that particular comment back.
Thanks, no offence taken, i have no idea how amateur is scored as i have never done it before but to fight anyone even if they were not from the uk was better for me than getting a walkthrough as i needed the practice the same as my 16yr old lad, neither of us have worn a headguard before let alone a bodyshield so was good practice for us and him being in the junior category also could have walked through but prooved he is good enough for the team by beating a current adult team member i expect him being in the junior category to have more success than most of us including myself in chasing a gold medal.
Callan was proper sound after the fight as was bill had a nice chat with both looking at the camera footage one of the guys parents taped it was a win under muay thai but under anything else i dont know as i am not qualified to comment so it would be foolish to say i thought i won under any other system apart from the one i am most familiar with and have fought under being A Class muaythai. I would be happy to fight callan A class 5x3 ftr at 65-66kg my usual fight weight not at 71+ which he came in at as i could only get to 69kg and i had a good breakfast that day. Hopefully this one can be nipped in the bud and we can look at the positives of the event moving forward, i know ryan is putting a lot of work into this and it is evolving with every event, my lot are certainly keen to learn and apply what we need to give us a greater chance of a medal.
liam and callum was nice to watch but was a big win for liam 40-37
saw that fight from a megaupload, but gotta say, i've sat in on 2 ifma officiating courses now, and karen, you must have more experience judging these bouts than me because i saw a clear win by 3 rounds to liam. what is your training in muayThai officiating then? specifically in am scoring as done at the ifma's?
I've done an ifma judging course too Pisand, at the world champs in thailand, as well as attending and fighting in the champs twice and all the qualifying fights that precede that and several years judging in my own country so i don't think it's too cool for you to try and make me look like i don't know what i'm talking about when you weren't even there!
I took back that comment because it was purely my opinion, but you seem to have missed the rest of the point of my post.
Anyway, i don't want to get into an argument, I just wanted to stick up for Callan as i thought it was out of line and actually incorrect for the guy above to gloat over Callan's credentials and the fact that Liam walked all over him, which wasn't the case no matter what rules they were fighting.
Karen
can you take it up with them and not me then as i didnt even mention the fight :-(
Ohhh haha, I'm sorry, I didn't realise you thought i was talking to you!
I wasn't, i was originally addressing the comment above your's.
Karen
SO go on Karen, score the fight then. Give a round-by-round breakdown to prove your point. You attacked the integrity of the judges and promotion (not to mention a winning fighter) so the least you can do is provide a proper score from a credited IFMA judge such as yourself then.
As i've already said, i took back that comment.
As i've also already said, i don't want to get into an argument.
I don't really understand why you're trying to pick a fight, I'm entitled to my opinion and you're making a much bigger deal out of it than needs be.
Anyway, I've got work and training to do, no time for silly Ax tiffs (or for hunting down a dvd of an amateur fight and watching it and scoring it round by round to prove my point when it will always be subject to personal opinion)
Peace!
Karen
Hi All,
I Advise all KO fighters to refrain from offering comments on the forum . If i feel strongly about a issue (which is "few and far between I will comment".)
Karen is a oversea fighter who is currently a guest at the gym , Her view is a personal opinion .
liam no disrepect meant and i hope none taken you are a good talented A class fighter.
Well yes, absolutely Bill, I would have thought that goes without saying.
It would be ridiculous to assume i was speaking for anybody but myself.
My opinions are my own which is why i post under my own name.
Karen
its cool Bill, me,u,Callan spoke on the day so we all knew where we were, not sure where this came from but its no prob at all, thank you for giving me the oppourtunity to get a match, i look forward to seeing greg in action for the team, we all think he is class.
Hi all,
No one is given anything in the amateur circuit for nothing.
All fighters, officials and coach's work extremely hard for the amateurs, if they win on the day, its because they won on the day!
I find it a shame that people are recording the fights in secret and uploading them for download, as this means less dvd sales of the event, which results in less money being put in to the English IFMA Team Fund.
