Hello, This messege is Mostly directed to Mark L.(brackenbury?)

I have recently started training for competition again and I am having the weight loss problems as before. I am between 5'10 and 5'11 and in peak fighting shape I way around 135 lbs. I am not honestly complaining because of any ailments or illnesses. I just look sickly. Even When I am in shape.

I eat 3 meals a day take protein as well as my vitamins. I Have somthing called crohn's disease and it has made me very, very sick in the past. I got 6 feet of intestine removed and I feel better except for the odd day. I cannot gain a pound no matter what I do.

Any help?

First off anything you do should be decided with a health care professional.

I would suggest getting off of gluten. Protein supplementation I would be wary of.
There are a couple decent ones out there but they are rare. Designs For Life has a good one and Mercola.com sells a good one.

Probiotics are huge.

Organic virgin coconut oil daily (not in p.m.) cooking with it is great. I would also take some every day.. maybe close to a tablespoon
raypeat.com has a great article on its value...

"Breaking The Vicious Cycle" would be worth a read. Specifically related to IBS, crohn's and colitis etc (explains why some things don't get broken down and what to eat and not eat etc)

Water, water, water!!!!! (your body is about 70% water - guess how much of body function is related to it..) (avoid tap water... natural spring water/mineral water ideal.. RO ok.. most certainly add sea salt if RO but always good to add)

Minimum daily in take .5 oz per lbs of body weight. (200lbs = 100oz) add a pinch or two of unprocessed sea salt per liter (use unprocessed seal salt to taste with food is great).

Working with a professional would be worth it. There are many good ones in many areas and also many more shitty ones...

Eat according to your metabolic type.
"The Metabolic Typing Diet" is the book to introduce you to it all.
"How To Eat Move and Be Healthy" and "The Last Four Doctor's You'll Ever Need" will have great info also (read first not second - second should be as good if not better).

Protein EVERY meal (protein, fat and carbs every meal - find out the ratio for you)

Don't skip breaky

NO!!!! gluten

Water water water

Omega 3's (fish oils... a company that checks for heavy metals is what you want)

LISTEN to YOUR body. Learn what it is telling you. Become more sensitive to its cues and signals.

Daily relaxation techniques... meditation, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga (nothing too out there and active), breathing techniques will be HUGE long term.

Digestion starts before you put the food in your mouth. Smelling it gets juices flowing... chewing it gets juices flowing and breaks it down enough for stomach to break down rest of way.

ANYTHING stressful puts you in a more sympathetic state (that means digestion goes down...) relax when you eat, avoid work, news, news paper...

"Drink your food and chew your water."

If you have time and money I would work with a CHEK HLC level III (II good to) see how long they have been doing it etc..

Many a naturopath etc should be good... many things can help from homeopathy to EFT..

I would read up on EFT on emofree.com - type in related issues in the search and see what others experiences are etc

all the best

feel free to email

LOVE your food

some people say, and my experience suggests its true for me.. some people metabolize food like they metabolize life... the body, mind and soul all work together... growing in all areas effects all other areas

With Qi

You're welcome.

There are many important steps. Whats really important is not stressing about them too.
"The best exercise program is one you will do."
The same applies to any change or self growth... do it in steps, do what you can and let go of the rest... That said to get good results you may have to go pretty strict with the state your digestive system is in.

They have done studies where they give people chocolate cake and looked at the bodies response (insulin etc - by the way insulin is in the brain too...). Those who felt bad and guilty had are more negative response in the body than those that enjoyed it. This can be used as an excuse but it is good to remember... if you do something that is not good for your health, CHOOSE to do it and enjoy it!!!

So much of what we do is habitual (not doing is also habit). The warrior makes conscious choices, even when it is stuff that doesn't serve his desired path or direction. He makes the choice and is at peace with it and thus limits the stress and negative effects and learns to be more conscious and aware. The warrior also starts to read and hear his body and starts to understand what works for him and what doesn't.

Watch "What The Bleep Do We Know" or What The Bleep Down The Rabbit Hole" - there are a few parts in there that apply to how your thoughts and feelings effect your digestive system.

The brain is so powerful. Looking at subconscious beliefs on food, digestion, life can have powerful effects.

The brain can create what it thinks "should" be... right now, because it is, you will have beliefs on your digestion...

They did an experiment with upside down glasses. Subjects wore glasses that flipped everything they saw upside down. After about two weeks of wearing them all the subjects brains flipped everything back "right" way up!!! The brain rewired to move the visual input back to how it thought it should be coming. After taking off the glasses they all had a flip again to upside down and again in about two weeks the brain corrected it.

Obviously there is physical stuff there.. my experience is that amazing things can be done with beliefs and thoughts.

The brain will control, to a degree, enzmyes produced and released, how what is left of your system takes nutrients in etc etc "If you believe you can't, you're right, if you believe you can, you're right." I believe there is degrees of truth in this - more than I can wrap my brain around too.

It has been well documented (and some cool research done a few places including some big stuff at NIH I think) that split personalities can have altering physiological make ups. One personality could be near sighted and the other far sighted. One could be diabetic and one not. One could have food allergies and another not. It seems to be essential to account for the power of the mind in all things!!!!

In my work with clients I have seen many physical things change from balancing energy. emotions and thoughts and beliefs.

Symptoms from IBS etc, tightness from cerebral palsy, acute and chronic aches, pains from unknown causes and specific injuries (interesting changes in x-rays), allergies, asthma, nerve damage etc etc etc

Underestimate the mind and you underestimate the body... the body-mind work together and are not so clearly separated.

In my opinion and experience thus far :)
