Hatton v Khan

Does anyone else see this fight happening?

If it did, would it be one sided victory for Hatton or do you think Khan would stand a fighting chance.

Would surely be a massive promotional event and a huge money spinner.

Predictions please.

I've already spoken to one mate, he reckons Khan would beat him now. Thoughts please...

I think it will happen.

Ricky will retire, Amir wins the world title, Ricky gets tempted back for a massive payday in Manchester.

Think Ricky would win this now, but a year down the line who knows. To much money involved for it not to happen now.

Dont think the Whitter fight will go ahead, not as big an earner.

Hang on, if this had been put forward 6 months you would have been laughed off Ax?

Now Khan wins a couple, and Hatton loses to best in the world and it would be close?

Hatton is still world class, he just chases the top opponents and isnt afraid to have a loss on his record (must be his MT background!) unlike certain recently retired Welsh people I could mention.

Khan would be knocked senseless by him, even if he had 10 Roaches in his corner.

Meant to say put forward 6 months ago.

It would be massive fight for certain. I just couldn't see Khan beating Hatton because he's got a feeble glass Jaw and Hatton would bully him around the ring!

Things change quickly and boxing is a business.

This would be one last payday for Hatton as I dont think he has to many other places to go at the moment. JMO.

Phil,
Firstly, I agree that 6 months ago I would have been laughed off Ax for suggesting this fight, I'm only looking for opinions mate.

I'm guessing you're going for a very one sided victory for Hatton then mate.
To be honest, I actually agree and think it's still a bridge too far, even for an undeniably improved Khan.
That said, Hatton actually looked BAD on sunday morning, not just Pacquiao looking awesome. Khan has lightning fast hand speed too, you can't deny that it's a closer contest now than it would have been six months ago.

Not wanting to digress but... As for Calzaghe, who do you feel he should have faced before retiring? He is 37 mate, not exactly a spring chicken and I don't really think there were any REAL challenges left for him anyway. As for Calzaghe "protecting his record", if he were that interested in records he could easily have gone on for another 3 fights and equalled Marciano's 49 & 0 record.
On his dvd he said he DIDN'T want to do that because "Marciano is a legend".

Calzaghe is a dude! Anyway, we digress.

Hatton v Khan! Thoughts...

I'm not interested in seeing this fight and dont think it will happen. I hope Hatton retires.

The result of this fight does not affect anything really as a loss would be blamed on his mileage and a win would be blamed on Khans inferiority.

Marks right tho and usually money talks, also Hattons a proud man and will be motivated by the prospect of a big win at home. Hope not in this case.

Would hate to see Witter be financially secure for the rest of his life though, should make it winner takes all if it does happen, let Witter put his money where his mouth is.

Can`t help but feel we are doing Ricky a bit of a disservice with all this sort of talk though, its not as if he just lost to a mug.

Witter would always have beaten Hatton due to style and speed !!!

I also think that Witter would beat Hatton, he's too cute!! the only chance would be if he bottled it when Hatton hit him hard!

Don;t get me wrong, I would seriously want Hatton to beat him, just think he would really struggle!

Witter fought Zab Judah on 3 days notice & gave a vast ammount of weight away & took some very hard shots !!!

Would Hatton bottle it from Witters powerfull punches i think Ricky make be leather shy after what he took sunday morning ?

There would have to be some serious doubts in Ricky's mind now. In his heart he will want to carry on, but in his head? He can, as much as possible, stomach loosing to PBF and the Pac Man.

Would he, or for that matter British boxing and its fans ever get over him loosing to Witter or Khan?

Deano...Witter ran about took nowt and was same weight it was lightwelter weight IBF title xx agree though about Hatton look for him v Katsidis if anyone x
phil

I think he is too proud to go out on a loss like this. He would go in against Witter wanting to demolish him and prove he isn`t washed up.

I don`t think Witter would know what had hit him, we can`t compare his speed and movement to Pacman or PBF, he is at a level that Hatton can punish.

Plus Witter can be another Johnny Nelson and do nothing for 12 rounds, it`s not as if he is Mr All Action which he would have to be with Hatton on top of him for every minute of 3x12.

Hatton has spoke in the past about the possibility af a fight with Khan, who would be world champion by then. I just think that Hatton will see it as a chance to get the world title back and have the big farewell on UK soil.

Good point about him being proud to. Any way you look at it he did not fight his best out there, in fact it was a very poor performance.

Also he will fancy the fight with Khan as one he can win.

Khan v Hatton won,t happen he hates Warren too much imo x

Phil

very nasty m8 to but anybody in the cat of another Paint Drying Nelson he was the worst ever but hey he got a job as a commentator LOL but so did Willie Thorne in snooker :O

Yes Witter aint no Pacman or Mayweather but what frame of mind would Ricky be in after his 1st clean punch he got caught with ?

IMO he should defo call it a day he just cant gamble on another fight with anybody
phil

Has he been put down by anybody other than Magee, PBF and Manny? I don't think so but may be wrong.

He must have some sort of chin to get through the other 40 odd fights? Tszyu was well known as a whacker but he withstood what he threw at him.

Take PBF and Manny out of the equation and I think Hatton is still at least an equal to all the others of a similar weight, we are just talking about two legends he has lost to.

I think I`m by myself in this one though!

But yes, I apologise for even comparing the snide little worm Witter to Nelson, that was below the belt.

I did not like Nelson as a boxer, but he's a good commentator

I like Buncey, think he does a good job. Knows more than Jim Rosenthal anyway!

Bunce & McGuigan best 2 by far !!!
phil

Mcguigan has possibly got the biggest hands for a small man that I have ever seen.
HAWKMAN
Posted: 2009-05-08 02:50:54
hes the smallest man with hands that big as well

I doubt if Hatton has 50 million in the bank, I would guess a lot less than half that once the tax man gets in there.
dazzathethai
Posted: 2009-05-08 03:24:39
Half that would do would it now? He was probably set up before the PBF and Pac man fights, £20m a piece for those minimum....
DanUK

i'd love to see the fight, i really would, a good test for Khan.
phil
Posted: 2009-05-08 05:20:40
Thought he was worth about £18m?
FATBOY
Posted: 2009-05-08 08:41:13
He got approx $8m for the Pacman fight I believe....That's about £5.3m, less tax, expenses and staff salary I would think he would be left with aound £2.8m...

If you combine that with the PBF fee which was probably similar the two fights probably netted him around £5m

Nice money by anyone standard but not £50m like people think.

He will earn some from the PPV as he is part of the promotion team with Goldon Boy promotions but I reckon he is not as well off asa lot of people would think.

Hatton is worth 20 million!

Phil Wrote...................

What if?

There was one roach in his corner, carping on about hitting hatton with the hooks then sitting down on his perch again! Would he win then? haha
