Who are going to win the K-1 Andy Memorial 2001 Japan GP Cup...... ?
I think that I will be Musashi, Nobu or Pettas, and then I have Great Kusatsu as dark horse. Anybody knows Tomihira, personal I have never heard about him?
I have Tomihara fighting Lloyd Van Dams at last year's K-1 GP 2000 Nagoya qualifier and he wasn't very impressive. I loved watching him get knocked out though haha he staggers veeeeery funny
Nobu was very close to beat Cyril Abidi in the K-1 Burning 2000. Nobu hit Cyril many times - very hard, and Abidi was on the way down, but... Before that happened, he KO Nobu to win the fight. To me it seems like Nobu is one of the strongest Japanese K-1 fighter, but he has a very weak chin, so I am not sure if he stand the distance in a tournament? But I will be very surprise, if Nobu do not win his first fight against Tomihira.
Nakasako do not have a strong spirit, so he should not be able to beat Great Kastsu in his first fight. I also think that Great Kastsu will do anything in his power to represent "Team Andy" with pride, so if I was to put money on that fight, I will put them on Great.
Musashi is always the big question. He can be very strong and very good. He has a good technique and also a strong spirit, but just like CroCop - he seems to be unstable. Sometimes he is good, and some times he fights likes it is his first time in a K-1 ring, lazy and slow. A shame for Musashi and his career.
Pettas....... He has the same syndrome. Amazing and powerful kicks, and a monster spirit from his career in Kyokushin karate! But he can not box, or take a punch to the face before he goes down. And that’s 50 % or even more of what K-1 is all about.
Who will it be ??................. I think Musashi Vs Nobu or Pettas.
I feel so sad when I think about his death....It will be a year next month (I
think) since he passed. . . . .
The one year anniversary is August 24th. He is truly missed.

And please visit my homepage made in loving memory of Andy Hug. There are tons of pictures of Andy from his early days in Kyokushin, from his career in Seidokaikan Karate and from his amazing career in the K-1.

Are CroCop also going to fight in the Andy Hug Memorial cup?
At the Official K-1 Homepage, there is a new poster with Andy Hug and about the upcoming Memorial Cup the 19th of August, and Crocop is on the poster? And so are the famous Japanese Pride fighter Fujita Kazuyuki. Are CroCop going to fight a Pride fighter in a K-1 fight?

Here is a copy of the poster
that's right.
mirko is going to fight fujita.
i hate these stupid match ups!
dumb dumb dumb!
When has that been decided? Is there other "news" about the Andy Memorial Cup?
(Who is the guy in the background of the poster?)
I also hate these stupid match ups!! And I can not understand why a fighter like CroCop would fight against Fujita, in my eyes it is big steep down for CroCop, and just like Felix I think it is stupid. I mean... The CroCop fans can not been interested in that fight.
If there was to be a Pride fight in a K-1 tournament/cup, it should have been Satake who was going to fight instead of CroCop. Satake is a Pride fighter today, and he has also been fighting many great fights against Andy over the past 9 years, in the Seido karate World Cup and in the K-1. That would have been fairer, not only for the fans, but most of all for Andy Hug!
Lets hope for CroCop, that his fights against Fujita do not turn out like it did for the former Kyokushin fighter Hiroki Kurosawa, when he was fighting in the Pride 1. Today Kurosawa is a K-1 fighter, but his career was very close to end after his scaring fight against a big Russian Pride fighter.
Kurosawa damage his kneecap in his Pride/karate fight, and he went through two big knee-cap surgery, and the doctors did not give him a chance to return in the ring. It took Kurosawa more than a year just to train his kneecap so strong that he could walk.
But if CroCop & Fujita are going to fight under K-1 rules, I do not think that it will turn out so badly for the CroCop. The Cop is a so strong and top K-1 fighter, that he should win that fight. But still I do not get the point in that fight? Well........ It is show business, and people want to be entreating so let’s hope that the fans get a good fight for their money. My money is on CroCop as a winner by KO.
mirko will lose because he won't get the chance to use the techniques he spends all his time developing.
as for the fighter in the background, trust me, you don't want to know.
Felix....
Let me know!
So you don’t think that Mirko stand a chance, hmmeeeeee lets see. In my eyes he does, but it all depends of the rules. (K-1 or Pride)

Is it the same guy as Kurosawa was fighting in Pride 1, when he broke his kneecap? Please tell me I am wrong - lol!

Is it Igor Meindert??
Hell it is - go for it CroCop!! But take good cares of your kneecap, just aske Kurosawa.
Fujita has a huge mellon and a very good chin in Pride. No one in Pride hits as hard as Mirko though. If it is a stand up fight I pick Mirko, if it is a MMA match Fujita will take Mirko down and grind him into a smear in the canvas. Fujita took Mark Kerr down so Mirko won't be able stop the take dowm unless he gets the one clean shot.

You are right Matt, Fujita has a huge melon and a very good chin. The best prove was his fight against Shamrock (see picture) in the Pride 10. It takes a strong fighter to beat Shamrock in a MMA/Pride fight, and Fujita has done that.
i agree with matt-. mirko will have one chance to do it all. no combinations just one chance.
i was thinking that it would only be fair for fujita to have to fight under alien rules too, but that would be two stupid events rather than one.
this fight will prove that a grappler is better at grappling than a kickboxer. in other words, nothing.
why is mirko taking this fight? this might be the only way he can go to fukuoka later this year. the things people will do to get their own backs scratched!
i think jan nortje is fighting gary goodridge.
oliver,
here's a hint. that guy in the background nearly decapitated pettas. i told you you didn't want to know.
he [the guy you love to hate] is fighting marc dewit. that should be a good fight.
FELIX:
I am so sorry for my bad and pure English, but I am not sure that I understand the point of your message Felix? " That guy in the background nearly decapitated Pettas" And that means? Please use a nother word than decapitated, because I dont get it, thanks. And his name is.... (Igor) ??????
I am sorry, but I am little slow today and my English seems to confuse me. THANKS FELIX!
decapitated = take off someone's head
Thanks Felix!
Are we still talking about Igor, or is it Tomasz Kucharzewski? (Pettas has never been fighting against Igor) I am totally lost right now, I just don’t get it? Is it Tomasz, and is he also going to fight the 19th?
HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
what just happened in the last pic?
In the last pic, Ken Shamrock threw in the towel cuz he ran out of gas and couldn't contiue (supposedly because of steroid use, his heart became swollen!).
It certainly looks like something just happened...thought it might be one of Sandys posts that was suppose to go on the top 100 thread. :P
okay. one more hint.
you hate that mother f***er.
how many guys has pettas fought who nearly took off his head with one punch? igor? kucharzewski? some big french guy. oops.
Hi Felix.
Ok.... I am getting blind now. So the nice and sweet fighter on the poster is Jerome Le banner. Dam I am quick today, knock knock!!!! If that is Le Banner on the Andy Hug 2001 Memorial poster, I need new glasses. But if you say it is, I guess it is? I simply can not see that it looks like Jerome, not at all.
Who is Jerome going to fight? Please confirm. Other news from the upcoming Andy Hug Memorial Cup?
Felix...................
Are we talking about this man on the Andy Hug Memorial poster?
I can see on the K-1 Official homepage that Jerome is going to fight, but I can not se against whom?
And the big big Jan "The Giant" from South Africa are also going to fight, I wonder who he going to be beat of this time? It should have been Jan The Giant Norkiya there should be fighting against Fujita in a Pride fight, instead of the CroCop, that would have been much more exciting.
They sure got all the big names ready for the Memorial Cup next week. We just miss a handful of the best fighters in Pride and from the UFC, and some retired K-1 fighters from the early 90's, then it would have been a perfect tournament!! What will be next? Hulk Hugan Vs Muhamed Alli in special 5 round fight, or Branco Cikatic Vs Michael Jackson where moonwalk and lowkicks not is allowed.
photogenic, isn't he?
jan is fighting gary goodridge
jerome is fighting marc dewit of belgium.
Another great setup fight for Jerome. Is Jerome a personal good friend with Kancho Ishii? Who will Jerome fights next time, Jean Riviere from Canada, Nakasako or Sam Greco in a return fight? No wonder that Jerome is undefeated this year.
To be real serious... all my respect to Jerome, he is a good and strong fighter - one of the best in the K-1 today. But he should just fight against some stronger opponents, instead of always fighting against some semi fighters, who really not are a macht for him or on the same level.
i wouldn't really call the bernardo fight a victory.
the fight against leko looked pretty close in the 5th round.
dewit is a good fighter. he might become the next cyril abidi if he can managed an upset. all he has to do is make it through the first round and he's got a real shot.
ishii has no friends. jerome sells tickets. knock outs sell tickets. jerome knocking someone out... sells tickets.
Cyril Abidi is a good fighter, but I don’t think that he ever will become a champion in the K-1, or on the same level as Jerome, Aerts, Hoost, Filho, Mike Bernado or Andy Hug. So if Dewit has the chance to become the next Cyril Abidi, he has the chance to become what he is today, a K-1 fighter.
And yes... Jerome sells tickets, and yes... Jerome do sometimes make some great Knock Outs, and KO sells tickets. But is it funny to see a match where you know who the winner will be, before the fight even has started? And yes... Ishii has two good friends, Yen and Dollar.
beating a top class fighter is not easy. no japanese fighter has ever done it. abidi and crocop became instant superstars and so will bojanski. dewit is a tough kid who had his last chance in the k-1 cut short due to a cut on his shin (v. leko). if he beats lebanner (ishii's money man) you better believe he'll get magazine coverage and more k-1 chances.
crocop v. fujita might be a fake match. there have been a few fake matches in pride. i'll bet satake's fights were all fake except the one against coleman.
Felix..... I would be more than happy if you were right. If Dewit defeats Jerome, I am sure that he will be on the front cover of the next K-Magazine from People Group. But I don’t think he will!! It is not only in the Pride that there is fake matches, so Jerome will win again.
pride is run by a fake-wrestling group so they see nothing wrong with any of that.
in the k-1, there may be terrible decisions, unequal tournament match ups and mismatches. but are you accusing fighters of taking dives? that's a little harsh.
NO! I AM NOT ACCUSING FIGHTERS FOR TAKING DIVES!!!!
But the organization for making stupid match ups! In my eyes it is more or less the same. If you get my point?
Felix writes: " in the k-1, there may be terrible decisions, unequal tournament match ups and mismatches. "
It is exactly what I mean! I would never say or accusing fighters taking dives, never!
You just have 2 standards Oli. You babble on about how corrupt jeromes matches are, because you are just full of hate, but you seem to forget some of the shit the k1 bigwigs have fed us. When your buddies were smacking around pro wrestlers I bet you thought it was great. But if Lebanner doesnt fight King Kong every time he steps in the ring you scream it's a fix. And to think you guys are meant to learn to be humble. HAH! Get over it bro!!! Your a hypocrite!!
Mike.....
Thanks for the nice words!
1) I do not babble about corrupt matches, I am only telling about my point of views!
2) I don’t have any buddies in wrestling!
3) I am not a Hypocrite, This is a message board where you can speak free of what ever you think, ok.
4) I am not saying that Jerome should fight King Kong in every match, but I think that he should once in a veil.
I am sorry if you don’t like me Mike, but there is many ways to say that. I am very humble, and I respect all the fighters in the K-1, all of them, also Jerome. I just say what I think about of some matches and of some fighters. I am over it Bro, and I hope you are too. Try to read what I was writing to Felix in the message above, before you jump over me next time, please.
You are right Oliver, I apologize for jumping on you it is not my intention to bag you, SORRY!! I still think you are over harsh on Lebaner! Filho just lost to someone without a big name so you can see the difference this year has been Jerome has not lost to an underdog and others are, there is NO such thing as a guaranteed win!!
It is ok Mike. You dont have to apologize!!!
Corruption is the word. The Japanese brought Jerome Le Banner off Don King for big Bucks. Now they have to get their money back, you will see Jerome on nearly every show they put on, he normally steam rolls his way through most of his opponents. Of course he will win the Qualifing GP that he is in, as the fighters in the Tournament are normally weak. Yes he is owned by the K1 Corp, like many of the other fighters that are regulary fighting.
Hi Nickosis.
Great to hear you point of view about the K-1 organization. I don’t know if the key word is corruption, I dont think it is, or if Jerome Le Banner is the only fighter in the K-1 who very often gets easy opponents? But I think that Jerome very often fight against some "2nd division" fighters. But I am not holding Jerome responsible for that, it is the organizations and his manager.
I highly respect Jerome for being a strong fighter, and one of the best in the K-1, but it is easy to be a knock out king when you are 10 times better than your opponents. It shows... especially in the fight against Mike Bernado!!!
who would you consider a tough opponent for him then.
aerts?
hoost?
leko?
bernardo?
filho?
he's fought them all.
who's out there for him?
i'd like to see ignashov get a shot but i would say corruption is the reason he hasn't so far.
>The Japanese brought Jerome Le Banner off Don King for big Bucks.
is this for real or just a rumour?
I have never heard about the K-1 buying Jerome Le Banner from Don King? I am not even sure if Don king know who Jerome is? That is a new one to me.
Yes, Jerome has been fighting against them all, so it is very difficult to continue to find new opponents to him. And that’s is also ok, what I am trying to say am: Because you win 7 or 8 straight wins in the K-1, it does not make you the absolute best fighter in the game. You have to look at the names he defeats before you give Jerome the title as the NR. 1 fighter in the K-1.
All my respect to Jerome for being who he is. I remember in his first years and especially in 1997, where Jerome lost almost every fight by KO. Jerome has developed a lot and become real good.
The former Kyokushin fighter, Hiroki Kurosawa are also going to fight in the Andy Hug Memorial cup - GREAT! Kurosawa is a great champion and one of the most famous fighters in the history of Kyokushin. Hiroki Kurosawa are going to fight Naoyuki Taira. Is it going to be a karate or K-1 fight????
And Nobuaki Kakuda are also going to fight, it is nice to see that many of Andy's real good friends are taking part in the memorial!
Why is Xhavit Bajrami not going to fight? He was one of Andy's best friends, and also a part of "Team Andy" I rather se Xhavit fight instead of Gary Goodrige, I mean... Is it a memorial cup or a Pride tournament?
don king knows who jerome is. thats how he got to fight on the holyfield-bean undercard
Kirk:
Did Jerome fight at the same tournament/fight night as Holyfield? Please confirm, thanks.
Tell me more please.
i saw a picture somewhere ( it may have been posted here) of don king
posing with jerome and his manager. i think it was after the fight.
yes. holyfield defended his title in atlanta against vaughn bean. jerome fought on the undercard that night against esposito da silva i believe. 1st rnd ko for jerome.
probably not a kick thrown. it must have looked like barefoot boxing.
Well... That’s news to me. That I did not know! Jerome fighting at a Don King Fight Night, under boxing rules. I guess you learn some ever day. No kicks, just pure boxing? Anyone got the picture?
oliver,
jerome bashed silva pretty quickly. i wasn't saying is was boxing rules just that in the time he fought neither he nor his victim got the chance to showcase kickboxing much.
the fight itself was kickboxing rules.
Felix:
Thanks. I did not know that Jerome has been fighting at a Don King fight night. Thanks for the "news".
Oliver.
here's news for you.
kevin rooney, the former trainer of mike tyson, trained kurosawa briefly. i think he was in hiroki's corner for the kakuta fight.

Hi Felix.
Great news - again.
I hope that Hiroki Kurosawa will win against Naoyuki Taira, because my heart really respects Kurosawa! Hiroki Kurosawa is a former Kyokushin champion and a true hero. He has been fighting all the big stars in Kyokushin, and has been fighting in tree World Open tournaments from 1987 to 1995.
Kurosawa has a spirit like a lion, and he is always kind to the people around him. After his "stupid" fight in the Pride where he broke his kneecap, he has been training hard just to walk normal again, and now he is back in business. Even do Kurosawa not is the best Japanese fighter in the K-1, he is truly a great fighter. Once a Kyokushin student, always a Kyokushin lover!!
Is his fight going to be a karate fight or a K-1 fight?
Oliver, Mike. we can learn something from you guys. :)
LOL!
Well... thanks Mark L. (You learn everyday)
Do you know if Kurosawa is going to fight under karate or K-1 rules?
Oliver, you know what? Most people don't. ;)
Mark L:
I know, and that is very scaring, right! But anyway my friend, thanks for the kind words - and great humor!!
P.S. Do you know if the fight with Kurosawa will be a karate fight or K-1 fight?
Well I was always an angry child and I've been going to therapy for that for years so I'm trying to learn. :)
No idea, sorry bud.
It sounds like you have been true some hard times Mark L.
You should try some Kyokushin karate, it helps! Just five minutes of kumite a day should take away you anger, believe me.

Try this if you feel angry! It is always nice to use your head.
I think that is really a Muay Thai technique, those sneaky Karateka's stole the secret Muay Thai head butts during WWII.
LOL thanks put I'll focus my energy on how to hit people effectivly and not on how to make a board break.
Sorry Oliver for jumping in the band wagon....You said in your earlier post that Jerome lost all his fights in his first year. Just a little correction as I know that you've probably took a few head shots at sparring or in the ring like most of us.. LOL!. Anyway in 1996 was one of his (Jerome) best year as he stacked up wins, drew with Greco including stopping Hoost. It wasn't until Ray Sefo knocked him out in 1997. I believe it was the first time he got KOed by a head shot in K-1. Jerome has never been the same after the that. However, people has to remember that Jerome is still one of the youngest in the K-1. I think he is only about 26 - 27 years old. And he still has dynamite in both hands. Even though he is southpaw, everyone used to only worry about his right hook as it was his main power punch. Now that he knocked out Peter Aerts & Skelton with his left, he is developing to be a very strong and mature fighter. However, it's hard to be consistent at K-1 as there are so many good fighters and they are heavyweights so things can change with only one shot. People keep saying that you don't see the best fighters in K-1 tournament fights.....TRUE!! I'm not arguing with that, but I only agree because of the fact they are heavyweights. I believe (my only opinion) if these are lightweights which they have to rely more on the fitness, skill and speed side....You are most probably going see only one or two guys picking up the winning prize just about every time. In that respect, you have to take your hat off for Hoost, Aerts & the late Andy Hug for consistently winning or being at the finals in the K-1 heavyweights....
Just look up Jerome's birthday. He is 28 yrs old (soon 29) and Aerts is 30 but 31 in Oct. Still young for heavyweights.
Le Banner is only 28? Jeez, how old was he when he started fighting in K-1? 14?
the last time he made it to the final by beating bernardo he was about 22.

Message to Lollo:
Thanks for your message. (You are not jumping in the band wagon)
I know Jerome Le banner record list. I did not say that he lost all his first fights in his career, but I said that he lost almost every single fight in 1997. The only fight he won in 1997 was against Rick Roufus. And since then, he has developed to become a real strong fighter.
In 1996 Jerome beat Hoost by KO in the Star Wars, and had a draw against Sam Greco - otherwise he did not fight any big fighters in 1996. In 1995 he beat Satake and Mike Bernado, so yes he did had a good start. But Jerome has also have many KO defeats. All my respect to Jerome, he started his K-1 career in 1995 at the age of only 23 years old. (Jerome is born December 26, 1972)
Believe me Lollo, I take my hat of for Hoost, Aerts and especially Andy Hug. These tree fighters are the absolute best in the history of the K-1. And talking about taking the hat of for Andy Hug - check out this homepage address: http://www.andyhug.subnet.dk
That is my way to take of my hat to Andy Hug!
P.S. I never took some head shots, I always use my shin!
Oliver....I'vd checked it myself before this post....I met the man personally. I remember runnin in to Andy in Labongi....I was with my boys and they were going to the clubs after after the fight. I had the previlege of having dinner with the man. He just asked me what I was doing and I said that I was just waiting for a taxi. He said if I would like to have dinner than we'll return to the hotel together. I said great. He asked me what I would like, I said that I longing for a steak. He took me to this steak house and we had a nice chat. We talked about training and the whole K-1. For some reason, the conversation end up in religion. He felt that some of the guys in the K-1 who are using God's name too much during the press conference etc....He said that he believed in God also but he felt it's only him and God in private....How interesting. .He also told me that he found it hard preparing himself for fights without his Thai trainer (Gong...This was before Mike Mcdonald came)Gong had to returned back to Thailand because of sickness...and later passed away. I will always treasure that moment when Andy opened up.....
At the time, Andy was always keepng to himself when everyone (all the K-1 fighters) was mingling together and and partying etc. which he was often criticized by some of the other fighters. But I now I understand (not saying right or wrong). He was a true professional and he fully aware that he could be fighting this guys and he had to prepare himself mentally for it.Everyone is different...After that time, I began to understand the great man. God bless his soul....
Lollo:
So you have also met Andy Hug - so have I. Your story is amazing, and I truly understand why you always will treasure your moment. It sounds almost to big to be real!!!
I met Andy back in 1989, when he still was a member of the Kyokushin karate organization. Andy Hug was in Denmark to teach the art of kumite/knock down karate, at the early Danish Kyokushin summercamp. He trained members of Danish Kyokushin karate for a week, and it was simply and experience of a lifetime to be coached and live together with Andy.
Andy was always kind to everybody, he always took the time talk after training, and he didn’t care if you were young or old, beginner or black belt. Andy treated all people with respect, he was a true and kind human, and you never got the felling that he was a Champion, never. Andy was always modest, polite and truthful.
I guess that is also why Andy Hug received the title of "Samurai" in Japan, which is a distinction of great honor. Kancho Ishii, the promoter of the K-1 in Japan tells: "The reason why the people in Japan like Andy so much is because he owns something that the Japanese respects: a big heart, generosity, strength and a will of iron."
My personal opinion is, that it is not only in Japan that people respects generosity and a big heart. But the difference between “them” and us is, we do not appreciate and show it in the same way. It is better to show respect and love to people wile the are alive, rather than when it is too late – if you get my point.
God bless Andy and his family!

Andy Hug in action at the Kyokushin 5th World Open back in 1991.

Oliver....this photo of me and Andy was taken at the lobby of one of the hotel we stayed in Japan.
Hi Lollo.
Great picture! What was the year ?
Respect from Denmark.
Oliver.

Who will win the Andy Hug Memorial Cup? (I hope for Pettas)
Oliver...can't remember. I think it was 96' in Nagoiya....
I think Musashi will take this one.....
I also think that Musashi will win, but my heart hope that Pettas will stand as the winner at the end of the day!!
fujimoto and hayashi are going to pound on pettas. i don't think he'll be much if he makes it to the final. in fact, i expect to see musashi v. fujimoto in the final.
If - and I say if....... Pettas makes it to the final, I will be more than happy! But I am affraid that he dont stand a chance.
I expect to see Musashi Vs. Nubo in the final, and Musashi as champion.

Go for it Nicholas Pettas - show them some Danish VIKING power!
Are you sure you want Pettas to represent Danmark?
Yes!
If you knew Nicholas Pettas history/background, you will also be very proud of him.
Pettas has already represented Denmark better than anyone ever could have dream of in Kyokushin karate, and now the time has come to the K-1. He might NOT be the best K-1 fighter in the world, but no one can take away his heart, spirit and discipline. And to me, that is much more important than winning a memorial cup.
If Pettas was to fight Musashi or Nakasako under karate rules, they fight would be over in 2 min. Believe me, I have seen them train together for the 1998 K-1 Dream Tournament. Now the rules are K-1... and that is not Pettas backyards. But never the less, it is all about doing the best you can, and fight for your chance, and Pettas will do that every time he enters the ring. Not all fighters do that in the K-1 today, they just want 60 seconds of famous and a check from Kancho Ishii.
Those kind of fighters are the one, that I would NOT like to represent my country!!!!!
But Pettas, he is great human and a hero. He left Denmark as a teenager to live out his dream in Japan. He left Copenhagen as a young brown belt, and today he is Black belt 3 Dan. Pettas speaks and understand 100% Japanese, he is in top 5 of the best Kyokushin fighters in the world, and has been it since 1995. Pettas did also past the 1000 days of training, as the last student Sosai Mas Oyama ever had. Why should I not be proud of him????

Matt-:
Let’s see who is strongest today - The Danish Viking Nicholas Pettas, or the Japanese samurais?
(Photo Susumu Nagao/copyright)
matt is a danish viking, that has eaten too many danishes.
There is a big difference between Danishes and Danish Dynamite.... LOL
As the say: A Danish a day, and the doctor will never go away!!
I am sure that handful of Danishes before a K-1 fight, will make your belly fit for fight. Lets see if Pettas gives the Japanese fighters some suger sweet Dynamite tonight - or if they make Sushi out of him?

According to the K-1 Official homepage, Musashi won????
WHO WON????????????????????????????
P.S. See the pictures, it looks like Pettas won!
Who can comfirm who won the Andy Hug Memorial Cup? (A.S.A.P)
AJD:..... I hope that you are right my friend!
My wife translated the Boutreview.com's results and it said that Pattas won.
Matt:
> "Are you sure you want Pettas to represent Danmark?"
Need I answer my good friend!
I am speachless...
Maybe I should rethink my views on Pettas.
I will too - and in December it is Leko & Jerome Le Banner's time to rethink ther views on Pettas. LOL!!
(One step at the time, I know.... But I am just happy, I can’t help it guys)

Pettas after K-1 Andy Hug Cup.......
How about if we just match Pettas and Musashi in a 5 round fight?? The outcome would prove more than what happens when one guy has done 6 rounds all up and the other has barely done a round!! %#$&@*^!!!!!! (sorry I cant help venting my furies about the WWF King Of the Ring, I mean K1!)
we know. pro tournaments suck. i want 12 rounds though.
Mike & Felix:
What about sudden death?
I mean that’s the game, Pettas was not only lucky he was also very good, and that’s why he only had 2 and half rounds of fighting before he meet Musashi.
It is not only Pettas Vs Musashi.... I guess you all remember the 1998 Grand Prix, where Peter Aerts won all his fight in the 1st round by KO, also the final against Andy Hug. Should Peter also fight a couple of extra rounds just to make you happy? What is there to prove, Pettas prove enough by beating up Team Japan one by one.
Nothing against your boy Oliver, you dont understand our point!! The format rewards you if you have an easier draw or if you try to brawl your way to a quick win, fine for some quick KO's, but this is not a guage of skill vs skill! A fighter is disadvantaged if he tries to use skill to outpoint someone or break them down over rounds! When later rounds of the event come, he's out of gas! 98 finals, good example you brought up! Andy fought well on the evening and had hard, long fights where he out-SKILLED and out fought his opponents, but the reward he gets is he's out of steam and energy for the final and gets splattered quickly!! This is what he gets for long and deserved wins earlier! What about that tournament were Crocop was nearly crippled, could hardly walk to the ring for his last match and was flattened before you could blink?!?Understand the point?? Tournaments are NOT a true or fair guage of all abilities or one on one competition!! NOTHING against Pettas, congratulations on his win! Good for him! But NOTHING beats 10 or 12 round fights, if knees must be included then a full 5 rounds! Why do you think so many fighters dont like the format for the year now?? It sux!! But some have no choice! Some have left, some dont want to be in it. And believe me most don't like it! All of this is not in the spirit of kickboxing or muay thai or whatever you want to call it!! And Felix the whole organisation is getting weirder ain't it?? What with Crocop having what was basically a fake pro wrestling match on the card??
the most shocking thing about fake rasslin is the self mutilation. i mean how much disrespect can you have for yourself to cut your own head for money. i just don't get it.
congrats to pettas. he won fairly under the accepted terms.
what mike and i dislike is that the terms themselves are unfair.
Explain Felix, I heard some things about this match, is it true the guy sliced himself open??? At least the WWF actors do it properly!!
Felix:........
Point taken - and yes you are right! I see the picture, and the 1998 Grand Prix with Andy Hug is a very good example.
About the fight between CroCop Vs Fujita in the K-1 Vs Pride in the Andy Hug Memorial, I have not seen the fight on video yet, but I get a copy of the tape in a week or two. Did Fujita cut himself?? I thought it was a knee-kick from CroCop? Please tell me more.......

the knee hit fujita in the ear if i remember correctly. i think he had cut himself before the fight and concealed the wound. then during the fight he tore it open with his left hand while on the ground. check the video.
i bet you could pay this guy to eat a bowl of shit. no self respect. i don't know what to think of ishii or crocop.
Thanks for the news Felix.
I don’t know what to say, but if that is real - then it sucks big time!!!
Is it wrestling, circus or a K-1 memorial tournament, to pay respect to the biggest fighter of all time?
I can wait to se the fight on video, I mean… How low can you go, and what would be next, Fujit Vs Mike Tyson in a ear to ear fight?
i still don't know what to think of ishii, thoug the word "pimp" comes to mind.
Well, I don’t know what to think of Ishii?
Is he in the game because of the big money, or because of the passion to the sport - or both?
But know matter why of what I might think of Ishii, my personal point of view is, that making a Pride Vs K-1 circus fight in a Memorial Tournament is lag of respect to Andy Hug, and a big mistake of him. Especially if the fight between Fujita Vs CroCop was a fake fight!
If that is true, I will say that he is Don Pimp King.

Pettas in action

Nicholas Pettas TCB against Nubo.

Nakasako Vs Musashi.............. Great kick!

CroCop in a circus fight against Fujita.
(Is it real blood or just fake?)

Jerome Le Banner making another KO in the K-1.

Musashi Vs Great.
Oliver Sperling.

Kakuta in action !
if crocop really did 3 weeks of mma training, why are his feet in the air?
that picture shows where fujita is dragging his cut along crocops body to open it. do you have one with his left hand on his cut? or the knee in his ear? or the L-shaped cut?
fake fake fake!
If the fight between the CroCop Vs Fujita is fake? Would CroCop lose for money in a K-1 fight? I mean.... What is the difference?
And who are paying who, is the fighters in between, or is it the manger or even Kancho Ishii who paid Fujita for his little Hollywood stunt? If that is the truth, I am afraid that the right winner in the K-1 next time, might not be the right winner, if you get my point.
This sucks, and I start thinking of why Satake left the K-1 organization. Satake accused Ishii for setting up fights, maybe he was right? I SURE HOPE NOT!!!!!
What do you guys say about whole this afar? Is it just a single case, or has it happen before – also in the K-1?
i think ishii takes his own sport very seriously, bad decisions aside. i think he was trying to reach the fake-wrestling market (fans, magazines, etc) and saw a way to do it. he probably just didn't realize that promising mma and giving fake-wrestling is fraud. as sickened as i am about this, i'm not ready to say that everything he has done was fixed.
i think mike bernardo and jerome lebanner are going to have some fixed fights too. i guess in their minds this is easy money.
sorry guys to bring this into a somber / sober mood ! but can i ask a DIRECT question ??? im not a big fan of K-1 `i like it` but not massive on it ! ( sorry ) but can someone please tell me the answers to these questions ?
first off before anyone slags me ???? im asking a question i was asked in my country by a few students in our art / sport ?
1. did Andy hug die of drugs overdose ?? ( heard his insides were done in by STEROIDS ?? )
2. do you agree with steroids ? as i def: "DONT" i think it is CONTRARY to our martial-arts ethics ! am i right or is everone just overlooking this ?? due to the TERRIBLE death / loss of a great fighter ???
thankyou if you can advise on this above cheers ! sandy man holt u.k.m.t.a
www.thaiboxing.co.uk
1. i think the therapy that was supposed to have saved his life reacted badly and that is why he died. if you're asking if his disease is a result of steroid use, no one knows. he used steroids and got sick but no one knows if there is a cause-effect link.
2. i disagree with steroid use but there are other issues here. if the olympics can't control steroid use do you think pro sports promotions can? once they can control them, will they? look at american football. they can greatly reduce the knee injuries just by passing a rule on footwear. this will never happen because it will reduce the quality (speed) of the game. lebanner is stronger and faster than before. do you think anyone wants to see him lose power or speed?
good points felix ! cheers ! BUT are steroids allowed ? in sport ?? ie: athletics / olympics ? etc: is there DRUG testing in K-1 ?? ta sandy amn holt u.k.m.t.a

Sandy & Kirk:
1) Andy Hug died of Leukemia! (That’s the official announcement from the Nippon Hospital in Japan)
To make a long history short, Andy has just returned to Japan from Switzerland, when he the 17th of August collapsed, and was taken to the Nippon Medical School Hospital for medical examination.
At the hospital, Andy's personal physician found a swelling tumor on the left side of his neck, and that was when doctors realized he was suffering from Leukemia. Andy Hug was treatment immediately with drugs, including with chemotherapy.
The doctors gave Andy a big warning message, and told him that since he was suffering from heart and/or circulation problems, the chemotherapy had a very high chance of backfiring and destroying his body for good. And it did, the chemotherapy combined with his Leukemia killed Andy. That is the official course of death.
Some roomers said that Andy Hug died because of Steroids? I don’t know what to say about that??
Andy has been fighting since he was a young teenager. He started so early to fight tournaments, that the Swiss Karate Federation bent the rules to allow Andy Hug to compete with adults for the All Switzerland Karate Championship. Andy has been fighting for over 20 years, and when Andy steeped into the ring for the last time in his career against Nubo in July 2000, Andy had fight over 300 knock down fights in his life.
Personal I think that his body was damage from a long life of fighting. To be on top level and training to the limit every day for over 20 years, is not healthy for the body. Andy fought the CroCop at the Fight Night in Switzerland, and only five days after he was fighting Nubo in Japan. His body never relaxed, and that is the real course of death if you ask me.
Did Andy use steroids, I hope not - but I don’t know? Is it ok to use drugs/steroids............ HELL NO!!

Here is a picture of Jerome Le Banner after his fight at the Andy Hug Memorial cup.

Talking about STEROIDS in K-1.
Look at Musashi today, and then take a look at a picture of Musashi only a few years ago. Is it to much good Japanese food combined with hard training, or is it drugs/steroids??
I AM NOT ACCUSEING ANYONE FOR TAKING STEROIDS!!!
This is simply a question, nothing else. And is this a question that you also can ask to other fighters than Musashi? Personal I think that there is a handful of other fighters in the K-1, their looks like they have been using steroids.
There are also many kinds of drugs, and here I am not only talking about steroids to get bigger and stronger. What about painkillers, I mean... Fighting a tournament like the Grand Prix is the ultimate test for the body, and we all know that it is not healthy. So if "you" somehow can kill the pain before a new fight, you stand a bigger chance to win again. That is also a drug that is forbidden to use, not only in the K-1 but in all sport games. But as long as the name not is "Steroids" many think that it is ok to use them. Is it??
I don’t know if there is steroids control/drug testing in the K-1, like there is in the Olympics - is there??
oliver,
just for the record, that was felix that made the comment about andy and steroids.
sandy,
contrary to our martial arts ethics?i don't have any martial arts ethics.

Uppsssss.
The juice is wide spread in K1!! Anyone denying that is a fool! Most if not all pro sport athletes are on SOMETHING illegal! BUT, thats professional sport these days. Pure ability and skill ain't enough to go all the way, without a magic pill, or a thick liquid bound for the glute!
Mike:
So you also think that the "juice" is wide spread in the K-1.
Has there ever been any drug control in the K-1?
Hell No!! Not seriously anyway. Fighters go through medicals and are asked to pee in a cup, but do you think K1 test the urine of every fighter on every show all year round? Fighters would still plan a way to get clean urine in a cup, whether it be their's or someone else's! This is just my opinion, you can very easily get away with drug abuse in sport! There are many ways to test clean, all it needs is carefull planning and the right ingredients!
OLIVER thanks for all your recent answers/ posts above cheers ! and MIKE ? you know too much ? too many answers illegally ! mmmm hahaha !
seriously ! i DEF: DONT agree with drugs in our ARTS ! and def: there should be some form of testing ! regulary especially in the biggest world wide fights `K-1`

Have I burst your bubble Sandy? Drugs in sport and K1 do and will exist for ever! In fact, it's only going to get more previlent with all the worlds scientist creating even far more effective drugs for different kinds of purposes, not intended for athletes..BUT! On the other hand some scientists are doing just that for its sports people!! $$$$$ World records don't exist very long our day's do they?
I have just seen the fight on video between CroCop Vs Fujita from the Andy Hug Memorial 2001 Cup.
CroCop hit Fujita with a powerful knee-kick in the face, and Fujita is NOT faking or cutting himself!!! This is a real fight - and not a fake fight as someone said in some of the earlier messages on this board.
The cut is made from CroCop's knee-kick, and not by Fujita himself!!!!
After the doctor correctly stops the fight, CroCop walk over to Fujita to see what has happened, and when CroCop look at Fujita's cut, he almost get sick. The cut is so deep, that it almost impossible for the doctor to stop the blood. When you see the fight in slow, Fujita is NOT taking his hands up to his face, or cutting himself, he is trying to get his arms around CroCop when he get hit by a powerslam of a knee-kick, and then the blood start to flow down the face like it was a waterfall.
So no fake in this fight!!!!!!!!
I don't know if I believe all the steroid stories any more.
Sometimes you look at someone who looks really ripped and you think shit man. But then, if I go along that train of thought I end up wondering if the majority of actors in Hollywood under 70 are also on roids. Check out the abs on most male actors. Denzel Washington in the movie about the Hurricane dude, Brad Pitt in the fight club, even Ed Norton in American History X. I dunno, I find it hard to believe these multi millionaire guys would all risk their health under someone elses instructions. I'm sure there are isolated cases, but I just don't believe it's the case with everyone that looks ripped.
One of my mates started doing weights full-on a few years back. I couldn't believe how different he looked in just 6 weeks without roids. Just a lot of dedication and diet + training after work. I had myself wondering what someone could look like who had all day to train. Since then I just don't fall for the "he's on roids" thing just because someone has bulked up over the last few years. Those of you in your late twenties or older know what happens to your body. It just broadens naturally in many many people.
Not arguing with you guys who are sure, just don't believe it is as wide-spread.
Just my oppinion.
Andy wasn't that big! He was only 215-220lbs and about 5'11" - 6'0". I am about the same size and I have never been on roids, HGH, ect...
His arms were only about 17 inches a most!
He deadlifted about 585lbs, I deadlift 545lbs.
I watched him do 30 pullups...I can do 12 :)
There are 20 yr old football players at my college that are bigger and stronger than Andy ever was...they are steroid abusers. Kids that are 5'10", 275lbs and bench in the 500's...I throw them out of the bar I work at every weekend :(
If Andy was on riods he was doing something wrong.
Lebanner is a different story...
My Grandfather died from Leukemia last week and he wasn't on riods.
Guys, Guys, Guys....DO NOT EVER THINK THAT WHEN YOU TAKE STEROIDS OR ANY OTHER DRUG TO EXPECT TO MAKE GAINS JUST BY DOING SIMPLE TRAINING ROUTINES!!!! Guys who look the part TRAIN EXTREMELY HARD and get the most out of the drugs their using!! You push HEAVY weights you will get bigger, you sprint/run and use lighter weights with a super fast workout you will rip up and look like a grayhound! BUT.....the athletes DIET IS THE KEY to his/her peformance! Most actors you see that have abs, and arms are if anything...skinny. They look good on camera because they are lean at about 60 to 70 kilos, and don't forget the camera adds 10 pounds ESPECIALLY the HOLLYWOOD flicks! Nothing beats GOOD GENETICS and some do have it! BUT...if they want to make further gains the drugs can take them to extra ordinary levels,ie;LE Banner! Andy was not doing anything wrong at all, he knew how to train and stay strong (and lean) at the weight he chose! It does not mean that because Andy was smaller than the rest that he did something wrong in the way he used drugs, that is just dumb! Drugs do not necesserally mean you will get bigger it all goes back to the way you train! AGAIN...I say drugs are VERY wide spread in pro sport including K1!! MY OPINION!!
Oliver,
Where are you finding all these great pictures?
On the net or from magazines?

Paul:
Thanks for your message.
I get the pictures from friends in Japan, magazines and by surfing on the net. I am glad that you like my pictures.
I got about 2.500 pictures of Andy Hug fighting in Kyokushin, Seido and in the K-1, and then I have about 4.000 pictures of Kyokushin karate, (Filho, Glaube, Pettas, Mas Oyama, Kanco Matsui, Knock Down Tournaments, Tameshiwari, logos, fighters etc....)

RESPECT big time!
my japanese isn't so good but the pettas pic with the karate-gi and two handed pose says "pettas tells pro-wrestling fans that k-1 is interesting".
Felix:
LOL!
My Japanese could also be a little better, but I think it says: "Look out, here comes some Danish Dynamite – and I am here to Taking Care of Business”

Has anyone seen the fight from the K-1 Andy Hug Memorial Cup between Pettas Vs Nubo? What do you say to the way Pettas beat Nubo? Do Pettas have lowkicks like Van Dams or am I getting blind.
One more kick from Pettas, and I am 110% sure that Nubo would have started to cry. Roomers are saying that Nubo is still walking in circles, and that it will take him about 12 weeks before he can stand up alone without help.
no faking on the andy hug memorial thread!!!!
LOL

Last picture of Pettas.
I cant help it friends, but being a Kyokushin freak and a Dane myself, I have to enjoy it as long as it last. I think that after the Grand Prix in December, there will not be to much to laugh about, so I am smiling veil I can, if you get my point.
I hope that it is ok?

Nubo is still crying and walking backwards.
Any new pictures from the Andy Hug Memorial cup?
Dude,
You should get out more. Does your girlfriend wish she looked more like Andy to get some attention from you??????
Dude............ Funny message!
??
Thanks Roy - nice words, great to hear from you!
Is it I or is it you who should get more out? I mean... If you have nothing else to do, than to write me a stupid message like the one you just made to me, it seems like you are the one who need attention.
Keep on the great work Champion Roy!
You are just great "Champion", thanks once again for your kind message!
I am fantasizing Champion. I am fantasizing that I am 23 years old and weights 122 kilos.
Is there something wrong about being a fan of Andy Hug?
And what is your goal with your stupid messages to me “champ”? You should get more out yourself, because then if you are real lucky, your weight will turn to 150 kilos before I turn 25 years old - dude.
I'm guessing English isn't your first language???? It is fine to be a fan of someone but when that turns to obsession then there is cause for concern. Did Andy ever catch you hiding in the bushes watching him get dressed through his window???? Did he ever notice your admiring gaze at him & the drool which spilled from your mouth at the time. Did he ever find out that you were responsible for his underwear going missing from his clothes line? Dude, Andy was a great fighter & probably a nice guy but that is no reason to worship him. Turn your attention onto something positive like a girlfriend or something, you probably scared poor Andy, no one likes to be stalked.
auoi!!! ...(lollo will know what that means...hehe)
auoi!!! ...(lollo will know what that means, his boys say it all the time by the ring...hehe)
champ,
cute name. all you need are some letters like iska, wka or ikf to really make me say wow. hehe.
anyway, this is a kickboxing discussion board so when someone like oliver shows up and says he has a favourite fighter, it's normal. it might freak you out, especially if you really are a champ who has had underwear stolen, but in time you'll get used it.
Felix:
Thanks for support!
"Champion"
This is my last message to you, because I really don’t cares what you might think of me... I mean, who are you and what is your problem? And what ever your problem might be - I simply don’t cares!
1) Why is there cause for concern, and why do you concern about me? I like Andy Hug, I highly respect him as a human and a fighter, and what he achieved in his amazing career. But we are not talking about a obsession, but respect. Andy Hug has trained me in Kyokushin karate, and I highly respect his skills and his spirit.
2) No, English is not my first language. If you have done your homework, you would have known that I am from Denmark.
3) I have a family and they got my whole attention, 24-7. And please don’t you ever talk about my family or private life. This is a message board where we talk about our respect to the sport and to the fighters, and not a place where you talk dirty about one another.
4) How can you write something like get dressed and hiding in the bushes and the drool which spilled from your mouth? Just to inform you pure champion, you are saying much more about yourself than you do about me - writing a message like the one you just made.
I don’t have a problem being a fan of Andy, non what so ever. And I don’t cares if you like Andy Hug or me, I really don’t give a shit. But being personal and stupid is crossing the line. You most feel real sorry about your self and your own life, since you have nothing else to do than writing a message so disrespectful like the one you did yesterday.
Ok I'll just leave you with some question, Do you think having someones image tattooed on your arm obsession??? Is this normal or a little bit scary? Did Andy ever see it? Think about it if you had some guy with your face tattooed on his body, talks about you non stop, puts pictures on you every where & dedicates a web site to you you would think this is normal? Would you be scared?????
champion,
you're right. oliver does have an obsession. so what? andy doesn't care, so why do you? think of all the elvis worshipers. what's wrong with one andy fan.
Once again Felix.... Thanks.
Respect from Denmark!!

Obsession... NO! Respect... Yes!
Many people have tattoos of people the love and respect on there body. There is thousands of people around the world who have tattoos of their heroes on there body. One of my very best friends is a big football fan, and he got a tattoo of his favorites teams logo on his arm.
I got magazines where people got tattoos of Elvis Presley, Bob Marley, Client Eastwood and Mike Tyson etc... And even Mike Tyson has a tattoo of Mao on his shoulder, do that make Tyson to sick person, or to a Chinese freak.
Even the great Argentina ball player Diego Maradonna has a tattoo of Che Gouvara on his arm, that do not make him to a freedom fighter, be real!
And what about family members getting tattoos of there kids, brother, father or there mother on there body, do that make them sick or too, or is that a "healthy" obsession?
I don’t believe this? How can I suddenly be so interested? What is this, a message board or physiologic profile about me? just leave it, ok!
Does anyone know why the Mao tattoo with Tyson.
I doubt that it's a political gesture with all his wealth.
'Mike Tyson has a tattoo of Mao on his shoulder, do that make Tyson to sick person' Good argument!!!!!!!!! You got me there!!!!!!!!
That's funny. Anyway, not that it makes a difference to many people, but this is the longest post here in AX. (maybe I need to get a life and go spend time with my family...or maybe get an AX tatoo).
oops tattoo. Just can't spell wright todaiy.
If you have a tattoo, then you dont have a life??
Nope, if you have a tattoo, then you do have a life. Unless you have a tattoo of Mike Tyson.
Vince:
Well, then I happy that mine tattoo is not of Mike Tyson...... LOL
Juubbiiiiiii, I got a life - thanks!
