i have used them with my top fighters for 12 months- very good for stability and explosive movements- they are a good compliment to plyometrics and olympic lifts..
I made 2 with old car/van tyre inner tubes from work, 1 @ 26kg 1@ 35 kg, cost me less than 3 quid for the sand to fill it LOL
We have 4-5 sizes of these at our spot and to be honest, when looking at them and reading "suples" I assumed it was some type of wrestler's training aid. I've done 3 workouts since with these, using the vids above showing the range of exercises and with a 20:10 tabata protocol and am really digging them.
These are amazing for functional and explosive strength. I used these for a recent fight and with only 4 weeks prep after a lay off and 14kg to lose i got in the best shape ive ever been in.
Good to hear, Mick. Did you have a particular set of exercises & times you used to prepare?
Yes mate. My coach has done the training course and is certified to train people using the bags. We used them for warm ups every day and then finished most sessions with various circuits for the entire body.
We combined short explosive circuits like the spin test (5 sets of 10 overhead spins in both directions followed by 10 push ups to be completed in 3 minutes - this a tough!), or grouped together 5 or 6 exercises either for upperbody or lower body and performed 6 to 8 circuits with 40 seconds rest in between each one or worked based on the tacfit model of 6 to 10 x 6 to 10 sets of 20 seconds intense bursts with 10 seconds rest. We also included basic intensity techniques such as pre - exhaust, supersets and giant sets, drop sets etc. I was in great shape for the fight and carried in more muscle than i have for ages despite the weight cut and no weight training for 7 weeks before the fight (i was away on holiday before i began the 4 week prep). I was very pleased with the outcome.
I think it helps that my coach has been on the course though because theres so much to work with and with the broad base of knowledge he has from it he is able to be really creative in order to keep it varied. Also, theres little nuance to the techniques for each exercise which make a difference in terms of increasing the intensity.
Looks like hard work! lol
Thanks, Mick. I'm going to look into the training too!
so true phil.....
Made one 1 I was 12.....
Still use the damn tyer.....lol.
Hey its called rocky training.....its true and you know it.

I'd love to buy a Bulgarian bag! wonder if they sell them here in Osaka..
do you suppose this heavy duty training for wrestling would also be useful for karate? does it completely eliminate the need for weight training?
I know I could make it myself but why not support other fighters when you possibly can!!!
John douglas made one a these they are really good
this is not for "explosive power" ...this worka good for "stamina in strength" ...
ercan you obviously dont understand all of the ways that the bulgarian bags can be applied in training. There is a range of plyometric exercises that can be performed with the bags and the nature of some of the more technical exercises mean that explosive power can and will be developed with a holistic bulgarian bag programme.
Mick can you do a youtube vid of you training with them?
We have talked about getting our highlight of our strength and conditioning class up there so maybe but there is loads of the suples videos already on youtube. Look at steve Neve and any suples vids. Overhead spins are plyometric when performed right as are load squat jumps, bunny hops, tiger lunges, throws, torso twists loaded plyo push ups, the applications are endless and the key to achieve explosiveness is in the technique. Also check out HIRTS ropes we have recently introduced these and they are phenomenal. Again you need a good imagination to get full use of the kit. We mix them with tyre flips, battling rope work, plyo box drills, sprints, kettlebells sledge hammer smashes etc. The key is in the creativity imo.
where do you get those bags from? or similar power bags
tear the arms an forarms off ya theses bags.ideal for strenghting up arm for arms for clinching.
