Oran Mor VI- Vengeance Sep 11 Glasgow....Why Vengeance?...
Headlining are two of the most heated rematches in Scottish Muay Thai.
Gordon Smith (3xSTBA Champion) defends his A class title against Wullie Dempster in the 67kg division. Dempster has been seeking revenge since Smith defeated him several years ago. Both fighters have stepped up their game since then, Smith showing his quality when he defeated John Douglas, touted until that point as Scotland's no.1 welterweight, and Dempster back on a winning streak, despite his recent loss at the Reebok show.
Vengeance pt.2 Michael 'War' Wiseman and Robert Burke are two of the toughest and most active fighters in the UK. They recently clashed in a full rules match ending unsatisfyingly in a draw, both lads reckoned they did enough to win, so this time round there is no space for error or stalling, this fight will be explosive.
There's more fights coming, one more to announce at the moment is a kind of homecoming. Kyle Nicol (Crawley Lumpini) returns to his native Scotland to take on Ryan Hurley in a prestige A class bout at 72kgs. Styles make fights, so this should be fantastic action.
Thank you to all coaches and fighters so far who are supporting this event.
Stay tuned for more rock and roll.
You looking for any C Class for the under card Guy? Might have one or two if you are.
This is always one of the slickest events in the Scottish MT Calendar. Always well matched, well run and very well attended. Beautiful venue but not the biggest so the show ALWAYS sells out. Get your tickets quick if you fancy going!
Good luck with the show Guy and team!
really look forward to the oran mor shows, always good events with some of the best fights to see. as big dougie aff th telly says it will sell out so get your tickets snapped up troops :)
This looks like its coming together nicely. I've actually never seen Brian Totty or Ahmed Ibrahim fight so I look forward to that.
Get auld totty on this, easily the most entertaining fighter the world has ever seen.not to mention he's the 2nd best cornerman behind Keith.lol
haha thts right i forgot he cornered u against th blind kid lol (kiddin on stewart lol)
cant wait to see kyle nicol fightin back up the road! see ye soon ya big posin bastard lol
looking forward to seeing big kyle back home strutting his stuff!
Good luck Ryan Hurley. Wot a fight!!
All the best with this Guy! x
Another A class belter to add...Jordan Calder back in action versus England's Billy Hatton (now training at Eclipse under the guidance of Keith McLachlan). Calder never fails to entertain, this will be no exception. That's 4 cracking full rules matches confirmed.
In the B class division (possibly for the last time before both lads move up to A) Brian Totty takes on experienced SMTC fighter and Scottish UKMF champ at 61kg,Ahmed Ibrahim. This is a non-title match and will be fought at 64kg, which may pave the way for another vengeance show for the title....
More coming....
Good luck with this, looks s an exciting line up as usual !! will defo be up to support, if anyone fancies a bet I'll have cash on Gordon, jordan to win stoppage and Kyle nicol?
Brilliant to see Jordan back in the gym and fighting.
Best of luck with the show, Guy! Great venue with an awesome atmosphere!! chok dee to Gordon and Jordan!
Will be a class show and with some exellent fights! will defo be there and it will be great to see jordan back in there as stated he never fails to entertain and is a class fighter to watch and a decent guy :) will be a top fight to see and will defo look foreward to it :) all the best!
All the best with this show Guy. Some real good fights lined up.
And now check this out...Stevie Meikle v Craig Jose.
The vengeance continues, another A class rematch between two of the UK's most experienced fighters.. Stevie Meikle returns from Thailand to face England's Craig Jose. Stevie has clocked up 47 fights now, and has improved every aspect of his game. The last time they clashed, Craig had been playing with MMA, but since has thrown his energy back into Thai, defeating Zidov for the MAD World title, and more recently defeating UK veteran Kev Harper. Will it be 2-0 or 1-1. Time for vengeance.
Next!! Delighted and excited to announce Tommy Young v Wayne Fisher, 65kg. Arguably (actually, unarguably really...:-) one of the finest technicians in Scottish Thai, Tommy returns to Oran Mor against Carlisle's Wayne Fisher, one of the north's most active fighters.
Reckon 6 A class fights worth the ticket money alone...
And then there's the supporting card. More info coming soon. Tix out Aug 1st, come and get 'em.
brilliant to see Tommy fight again.
Jose v Meikle 2 is a cool fight also
Great card Guy - best of luck with the show
best of luck with the show guy and also to wayne and tommy . :-)
well done guy thats a show and a half!
Thanks to guy for offering this fight to me and Wayne it has been 1 of those fights that has been a long time waiting to happen.
2 more cracking bouts. Nice one boss.
As an experiment to see how much of the MT community is using Twitter - if you're tweeting about this event then please use the hashtag #OranMorVI (it'd be cool if you could tag any Flickr images with this too).
Cheers,
Duncan
Muay Thai Diary
GOING TO BE A CRACKING SHOW AS ALWAYS.
Tommy v Wayne
Best of luck with show Guy
nice match ups
Thank you for all the support so far, tix are now available from the Griphouse, Oran Mor, and all the fighters on the show. Support bouts are coming together, despite summer holidays...I'll post as soon as possible.
There's a few fighters I'm having difficulty matching, both women fighters at 55-57, Ailsa (5fts) and Kinga (1ft)..if anybody has suggestions please get in touch. Cheers, Guy.
Gordon Smith v Wullie Dempster
Stevie Meikle v Craig Jose
Wicked line up guy the best yet mate congrats, will defo be there as always supporting Jordan and the guys. Good luck everyone. Good to see Tommy back after the injury probs, love his style.
haha Wullie looks so happy!
Kyle Nicol v Ryan Hurley
Support card coming together nicely, so as if all the A class action wasn't enough, here goes - 2 B class matches...
Mani Singh (Griphouse) v Ian Houillebecq (Legions Gym, York)61kg
Bart Miasik(Griphouse) v Gilberto Jiminez (Highlanders)62kg
and so far for the c class bouts...(more coming)
Yvonne McCabe (Lanark MMA) v Claire Falconer (Sit Ayuthaya, Hamilton)
Graeme Dunbar (Griphouse) v Mike Wood (Legions Gym, York)
Mike Murdoch (Griphouse) v Jason McSweeney (Kombat, Coatbridge)
which brings me onto a new subject..one of the fighters on the bill is closely involved in a charity raising funds for a two year old lad who desperately needs medical attention and can only get remedial surgery in the US, so, £5 for every ticket sold is going towards that. I think the show is worth £30 in its own right, but it's good to show the wider community that muay thai can be a force for good, as well as cash 'n' glory. Anyone interested in checking out the cause it's www.aidensgoal.org
looks good guy,
hopefully get a chance to come along. has ryan got tickets yet?
Got my ticket today!!!! Can't wait to see Tommy and Mani fight! Two of the nicest guys I've met in a long time! This card is DEF worth £30 on it's own so maybe an additional "bucket" round the venue on the day might be in order to help this wee chap??
What a line up! Gutted I can't be there :-(
Meikle Jose 2 will be a war!!!
Hi Guy
It will be the best £30 quid people could spend and the £5 will help make a big difference to this boys life.
So I would like to offer up by purse money for my fight towards this.
Jason
you guys are killing me with this charity goodness!
Ha, leave us some dosh in your will then...;-)
Honselty though, I don't want any of the fighters to be under any pressure to do the same as Jason (which is really kind of him)as they are providing the show that will allow us to fundraise. They are fighting pro rules, so I expect to pay them for their work.
A few more bouts to announce this week, tickets are out and going fast, any fighters not ordered theirs yet, please get in touch.
Guy,
Have you tried Alex Dally in Workington for a match for your female fighters. Alex and wife Mem run a female class and I am pretty sure they have girls ready to fight. Mem is trying to get active as well.
If you want contact details give me a shout.
Stu MC
Hi Guy
Don't want anyone to feel that they need to offer up their purse money just because I have.
Hope it has not come across as that. The majority of the guys fighting A class do this as a full time job so their money supports them in doing so.
I work a 9-5 and run a club so I felt it was right for me to do it.
Roll on Sept 11th.
Thanks Stu, I'll give Alex a shout, all the best.
Totally appreciate that Jason, and indeed, roll on sep 11th...:-)
Michael Wiseman will now fight Linzie Batey from Dumfries for the STBA Light Welterweight title (A class). Mikey's original opponent had to pull out due to rib injuries sustained in his last fight..we wish him well and a speedy return to training. A big thank you to Keith McLachlan from Eclipse for vacating title and keeping the STBA title challenges alive and kicking.
We have two more bouts to announce, another England v Scotland bout sees Danny Whittington from Carlisle take on Scott from KKC, and local bout between George Morrison (Hamilton) and Andrew Pettigrew (Douglas MT)
Tickets are flying out, don't leave it too late, Oran Mor is fantastic venue but it has a limited capacity!
hey guy, remember and send us ten tickets mate :) and show is looking awsome btw :)))
good luck ryan hurly big fight mate, good luck with the show guy some sick fights on.
Wot weight is mikey wiseman and lindzie batey set at then? 64? or are STBA weights a little different?
63.5 am sure mark, both big boys at that weight.
Offt can lindzie make tht? Not bein cheeky. Cin mikey make tht before.
mark when lindzie was at the wieght in against brain i said your big at this weight and he said he had to eat to stay over 66 mate think he will make 63.5 easyish
yeah, both lads big at 63.5, mikey's made this weight in his last 3 fights so has it down no problem, and Linzie last time had to cram in the calories to stay at 66, so not going to be a problem...only a problem for whoever is next to challenge...;-)
good stuff will be a good fight then, Suppose i am just assuming because am used to seeing him fight heavier.
A think the origianl match up would be good for the next challenge, robert burke.
eagerly awaiting this show, especially ryan v kyle, by the beatings im receving in sparring and holding pads for ryan i can tell this will be a good fight to watch, and a hard fight to judge! ha
looking forward to this :D
also when i read rab and micheal were getting it on again it gave me a wee shiver as i was unlucky enough to miss the first bout they had, will have to wait and see pt2 in future i suppose :)
Looking like an absolute belter of a show!
Tommy Young Vs Wayne Fisher should be a cracker as well as as Meikle vs Jose!
Looking forward to watching Ryan & Ahmed's fights as well :)
Matt McD
Jordan Calder v Carl Copestake
Good opponent for jordan carl copstake been in with some good guys.........I'll have 20 on jordan if anyone fancies it?
Jordan's fight is at 59kgs higher than he normally fights (57) due to his original opponent pulling out, thanks to Carl and Steve Logan helping on this one, and yeah Carl has been in with some good guys, John Dennis etc... and is ranked number 3 in UK at 59kgs, will be a good fight.
Indeed, thanks big time to Steve Logan and Carl for helping out with 2 weeks to go. Really looking forward to this fight, a good step up against a tried and tested tough fighter for our Jordan.
And they're back.... no Oran Mor complete without the pipes and drums of tribal celtic war band Clanadonia. The Metallica of Scottish folk music. Yaaas!
that card is so good you should stream it live ppv style!
It's official..we are sold out so expect a packed and awesome atmosphere on sunday....if there's any clubs out there with tix to return please let me know, as we are still getting requests for tix.
Best wishes to Jason from Kombat who has had to withdraw through a hamstring injury, his place has been taken by Russell Macavoy from SMTC, thanks to Russell for stepping in.
Looks like its gonna be a cracker!! Well done Guy, really looking forward to this. All the best to Wayne "The Mantis" Fisher.
Wee bit of breaking news... Ryan Hurley has pulled out.
Guy wants to pass on huge thanks to Kev Cottrell and Fighting Fit Gym for stepping in at short notice to fight Kyle Nicol.
Thanks are also due as ever to all the instructors and fighters for coming together to put on one of the most anticipated events in the Scottish calender.
And... Bart Miasik will now fight Calum Mather from Faktory gym in Newcastle, turning half the show into Scotland v England, Venegeance indeed!
Thank so far to all coaches and fighters, particularly the super- subs(K-star, Faktory, Fighting Fit) We have 14 fighters out this weekend (Jo and Adrian fight in Bournemouth ...good luck guy and gal)and the pad holders and sparring partners are breathing a heavy sigh of relief that the daily kickings are over. The team is looking sh*t hot, and looking forward to Sunday.
The weigh-in is at the Griphouse, G4 9SY, 12-2pm on Saturday. We will allow 1lb/.5kg for calibration.
Gary O'Brien is ISKA rep for titles, and English official Darren Philips will ensure impartiality is available for our English neighbours :-)
The show is a complete sell out, there may be a few tix returned on Saturday at the weigh in, but please do not risk turning up on the day if you are travelling far as you may not get in.
Safe journey to all our fighters and officials.
canni wait for this now.. thanks to guy for gettin me a replacement so last minute..

wot happened to ahmed robert?
Yet another top well ran show by guy and his team. Superb show and thanks for having us up. Wayne and Tommys fight was a good thai style technical fight to watch and tommy was winning until Wayne pulled a bombardment of knees out of the hat to take the win.
Just to say well done to Guy a crackin show and if any trainers out there want to show there students that it aint over till the final bell, then show them the Wayne v Tommy fight a really top class perfomance from both fighters. On a personal note GUY Ramsey must be thee only person ive'e paid money to so I could were a PINK BRACELET, thaks GUY.
@Bison, after some initial flash from Ahmed, Totty moved forward consistently and broke him with knees.
What an awesome show!! Didn't get to see much of it but what i did see was ace!! Some great matches and the venue was packed which goes to show the popularity of the Oran Mor fights!!
Want to say sorry to everybody for my fight, not sure if it was 'ring rust' but stood about for 4 rounds getting bashed like an idiot before I decided to do something, too little too late unfortunately. Only 1 point in it! Hopefully a rematch now that's it 1 win a piece???
Cheers Duncan, unlucky Ahmed pal.
Really enjoyed this show, cracking venue despite it being red hot inside.
Well done to Craig Jose, cracking fight and well worth the journey
Great show! Well done kyle nicol! Gd solid performance and victory!
Thought the show was run excellently! Oran mor is a great venue, but IMO its just far too small from a specatators point of view! The vengance show deserves a bigger venue I think! But then, do ye lose the atmosphere?
Well done to everyone involved
mick murdoch won by stoppage
Congratulations to Guy and everyone involved who contributed to putting together this fantastic show - OUTSTANDING!
Show was brilliant as always, the venue is perfect, best atmosphere in Scotland for thai boxing shows.
AWESOME show guy had a great day
the quality of the fights was awesome
Yeaa! the venue is bang on some venues are just to big and can lose a bit of the atmosphere!
Jordan Calder was brilliant as per ;) Thought craig jose was mint really exiting to watch!
Well done guy brilliant show ;) (only bad part was the 80 odd stairs i had to run up and down to get tell the fighters to come up but then i discovered the lift haha)
The list of thank yous is too big for my sore head (why does a show always make you feel hungover??? - and its not the booze before anyone wisecracks!) As a promoter I'm happy the way the show ran, and I appreciate the feedback r.e venue, card ,etc...as it allows me to develop the show. There is a whole voluntary backstage team that the audience never see that makes this work, so here goes...
Dean Reilly, Titan, Lyn Min-Din, Sean Wright, Ross Jack, Craig Walton, JP Gallagher, Andy Primrose, Paula Wilkie, Daniel MacInally, Martin McCann, Brian 'Senior' Totty, and my awesome wife, Gill.
As a coach, its always bittersweet,8wins, 3 loss, although on a positive note, even the guys who lost managed to show what they are capable of, especially Tommy who performed a muay thai clinic of excellence for 4 rounds before getting caught with a barrage of knees from very game Fisher.
In fact knees were the weapon of choice for most of the ko's, Gordon and Michael securing their Scottish titles, Totty decisive in his demolition of UKMF Scot champ, showing he is at title level now (title shot please!!)
Can't mention everyone, but you know who you are, thank you!
To Darren Philips and John Jarvis, thanks for the inspiration and the company.
great show, great venue, great atmosphere and great fights............cant ask for more!!
Could write loads but hate doing big long posts, highlight for me was seeing one of my best mates Gordon defending his title for the 17th time or something lol, absolutely loved seeing how much that title means to him, true champion mate
Thanks for posting results Rab, good luck nxt weekend!
Just to clarify, Mike Murdoch v Russell MacAvoy, Murdoch wins ko
Bart Miasik wins ko, and Graeme Dunbar wins pts.
And another thing, I finally had time to check Duncan Ireland's flickr...that lad knows how to take a fight photo! wow, awesome timing.
First oron mor ive missed, sounds like it was another great show.
Well done to all involved.
Craig and Stevie 1-1 each now, rubber match would be cool.
Thanks to Guy for the awesome hospitality. The show was superb, I love the Oran Mor for atmosphere, amongst other things, there's something about a scot coming out to the pipes in Scotland.
I've watched Guy's fighters develop over the years and he a really strong Muay Thai gym with a great team behind him. I'd have to agree with him that even the lads who lost looked good, we all know about Tommy who was superb, but Credit to Wayne and his team, they knew he was behind going into the last round and he went out and did what he had to do to take the win.
I'm a bit worried what me and John might inspire you to do, given the amount of time we spent in the bar saturday afternoon
I really like Glasgow :-)
Need to get myself to 1 of the oran mor shows. Always seem to miss them for some reason or other and a always here about how good they are after it. lol
Thanks to guy for having me up again in glasgow, I've actually fought in glasgow more times than any other city, 14times in total ha ha that seems strange.
Was a great show like everyone has said already, just wanna say well done to young calum for taking the opportunity last minute an showing heart springing up from the early knockdown, bart was just too strong....one to watch I think.
As far as my fight goes it was all going well, couldnt miss rd 1-3 then someone switched my battery off, tried to step it up rd 4 but gassed still took rd 4 I thought, kept myself ahead rd 5 but steve prob got 5th. my own fault for not preparing as well as normal, lesson learned. Credit to steve like he took some flush elbows and about 8 unanswered knees in the 4th an was still fighting, he's tougher than some ppl give him credit for, I'm sure we'll fight again at some point. hope the eggs gone down.
Oh gotta give a quick mention to the fucking huge belt!! Woohoo nice trophy ;-)
Just want to say well done to my boy Jordan Calder, who stepped up a weight class and fought a very very awkward and tough fighter in Carl Copestake and won on points, was a great fight for Jordan because I dont think he will ever fight someone like Carl again (well i hope not lol) was difficult for him but once again he came through and delivered, he only turned 18 two weeks ago and to win an ISKA Commonwealth Title says it all really about Jordan, he is pure class and we are all very proud of him, he's been fighting men for years now, says it all really. He trains hard and deserves everything he gets in this sport, he's going back to his normal weight to fight now xxxxxxx
I cant believe jordans only just turned 18 and being so successful at a high level. Everyone knows how much potential Jordans as, its brilliant to watch him develop as a fighter. Incredible talent who is taking strides to becoming world class.
All through hard work.
really enjoyed the show, fights were excellent.really felt sorry for mani bcoz i thot hes was winning the fight up until then.you can see how popular he is with everyone up the grip.the fight i wanted to see most was jordans so we could have a look at carl bcoz hes in the 8 man.awkward style and isnt going to be an easy fight for anyone in it but thot jordan handled him well and deservedly won the fight.gordon smith celebration is just the best can you imagine him opening up his christmas presents.lol.brian totty i thot looked excellent just walked thru everything ahmed had and just clinched him for fun, ahmed needs to work on his clinch if hes going to fight at that level.ill finish with mikey wiseman,a massive well done and it was good to see keith presenting the belt to a fellow tim.lol.oh and well done mick murdoch,i missed your fight mate bcoz i was still working but keith told me you were great mate.
will the show be on P4TV or on DVD its self please guy?
Thanks
awsome show guy well done mate
We had a 2 camera shoot so a wee bit of editing to do, then dvd ready...keep y'all posted.
and cheers for the feedback.
