Jason Sutties tatoos must have been so painful. I'm not sure if these types of traditional Kiwi tattoos are done with a regular tattooing gun, but I'm sure the alternative tools would be even harder to tolerate.

Jason Suttie's Tattoos are traditonal Samoan tatoos. It is called a Pea and starts at his navel and goes right down to his knees. They took some 27 hours over two days and were done using traditonal tattoo equipment, so think tap, tap, tap.

Sorry

I thought it was a site about thaiboxing !!!

I dont like tattoos but thats up to you, But now its like a fashion statement not same as the 60s & 70s gang tattos which 90% of people who have em now would have hated them up to 5 years ago !!!

How long have you had your tattoos on and how old are you !!!

Most of tattos where put on when they where in there early teens not early 40s.

The armband tattoos are s**t origanal stuff o.k. but everybody in every street have them stupid arm band designs on walking about in vests when its -40 he he he insecure or what is it a cry for help LOOK AT ME !!! he he he

Yep the site is about KB, MT & SS but the thread is about Tattoo's.

Sometimes getting tattoos is a mistake, i have another on my shoulder that i try & not show too many folk as of what it is. At the time i thought it was great but that was 7 years ago whwen i was only 16.

So you are right, why get them when you may either go off the certain tattoo or they may end up faded & not looking too good. Hey thats life though nothing lasts forever.........

Your right also about the originality factor, i dont see the point in loads of folk getting the same kind of design/idea, each tattoo you have/get should say something about you, what you are about & interested in if need be.

Sandy's tattoo is cool though as one is a bit different from the other, not everyone has that tattoo, tribal patterns yeah but not the one he has & if they do then they copied, Sandy "McOriginal Is His Middle Name" Holt!!........lol

The Thai script says 'Jai Korng Chiang'(hopefully spelt correctly).I know what this means because it was done for me by a Thai friend but who will be the first with the right answer on here ???

Answers on a postcard please !

Do tatoos with a lot of bright colour fade?

If so, then how long would it be till they look pretty shit?!

Is it best to tatoos made from dark shades? ie. like all black?
Miniluv
Posted: 2002-09-09 09:58:29
The Big Man - yep, all tattoos fade after time, especially if they're exposed to sunlight frequently. Even black ones begin to lose their colour after a couple of years. I've known people who have had their original tattoos coloured again when they get too pale.

black looks better for longer your meant to get em "topped up" every 10 years or so,i think black and grey ones look better anyways.
Muaythai King
Posted: 2002-09-09 10:24:13
Yeah i agree, black ones are better though they do fade not as quickly as bright coloured ones but they do eventually. Getting a few coloured tattoos, you end up looking like a child's colouring book!!........lol

Some coloured tattoos are not bad but the ones that people get of cartoon characters, especially men who do, i think is daft, they look a bit tacky!!

damned i've been off line too long,

i sawe the picture and was going to say "the heart of the elephant"
or "elephants heart" or "with elephants heart"
as it could be any of those.

then saw Mark L beat me to it :-(

Well done mark,

Kong is belonging too, or with

(i'm reading a book, for 5 yr olds, with pictures, and the writting is divided into words, lol, but it is called Ya kong manee "malee's gran" (ya with mai eck -which looks like an apostrophe or single ' to be more precise- so in high tone; Not "malee's drugs" which would be a far more interesting storey but probably not suitable for 5 yr olds :-P)

Well done Mark L,
your thai is coming along well.
you learning cho chang i take it?
as apossed to cho ga cheu and chor ching.
i keep getting cho ching and cho chang mixed up, so my tones are off.

ARRRGHH

BTW sandy,
where did you get you tat done,
Or who transcribed it for you.

I was worried when i first saw it, as i thought "that is close, but it doesn't say muaythai, as the T in thai is all wrong ..... but it is in laos, not thai!
so was it done in the north east? or did the translater come from there?

i have only one tat at the mo.

They also do airbrush work and shirts and motorcycles etc. As you can see on the picture above of Run DMC, they are more than pretty good.

If you like Japanese tattoos (My favorite style!), check out the Yellow Blaze Tattoo homepage. Shige from Yellow Blaze Tattoo in Japan, is one of the best in the world to make " Japanese New School Tattoos", he master the art of combining water, flowers, Koi fish, dragons and Noh mask together so it looks like it was painted.

I am having a "Japanese sleeve" on my right arm, it is in progress and has taken about 16 hours to make, and it is almost finish. I just need some shadow and effects, and it is almost done. Shige has been a big inspiration for my sleeve; he has sent me some custom made drawings – so I can highly recommend a visit to his homepage, if you like the Japanese style and motives.

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
and a torso even more so.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of Tattoo.
On her back is The Battle of Waterloo.
Beside it, The Wreck of the Hesperus too.
And proudly above waves the red, white, and blue.
You can learn a lot from Lydia! .......

(Just for you Yug)

Sandy - thanks, I guess I have to be a bit mad to keep going through all this pain!

Just like Miniluv, I also started a new tattoo project the 7th of July 2003. Mine new tattoo is not a dragon, but a “graffiti” tattoo saying: Angel.

I got my inspiration from the godfather of Graffiti, Seen! If you know and like graf, you also know Seen from da Bronx.

I am trying to ad my own personal style from his drawing, changing the name, letters and details, and hopefully it will end up pretty beautiful and personal. My new “Angel” tattoo is placed right above my “Sofie” tattoo, which is the name of my daughter.

I will post 3 pictures so you can see how I got my inspiration, my draft for the tattoo and the first part of the needlework. I still got about 4-5 hours in the chair before it finish. So the picture of my tattoo is only the first line from the needle.

Wow, nice and flash Oliver, really like it! Who or what are Lykke and Ditte? Are you going to add colour or just have it shaded?
Oliver Sperling
Posted: 2003-07-10 04:10:41
Miniluv,

Thanks.

I am going to add color in the 8-ball and in the fire coming up in the letters, otherwise I think I am going to keep in grey, black and white.

Lykke and Ditte are my two Border Collie dogs – or was! I lost both my loving dogs in less than 8 months to sickness, so this is my way to remember them. That is also why I am having an 8-ball, as symbolic for bad luck.

They where the best two dogs in the world, and I loved them more than anything.

R.I.P. old friends!

Hey,

Looking for some advice, also some ideas.

Have a tattoo on my shoulder, well top of my arm. It's about 3" wide and 6" long. I am looking to get it covered up with something Muaythai related preferably - though will see what ideas folk have before i decide.

The tattoo has alot of colour, so the new one will have to be all black and quite large too.

So if anyone has any ideas on what i can do to get it covered it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

MTK

Dear Dirk... My old Dutch friend.

Thanks for the kind words! Talking real man, if one is... You are old buddy. You know how much I worth ship you, Bryan & Annemarie - so the respect goes right back to you my friend!

I agree with you Dirk, having a tattoo where Miniluv got her dragon and tiger hurts, it hurts big time!!! I am not a chicken, in a matter of fact I like getting tattooed, and I got my share of ink on the arms and on my back. But I most say, that getting a tattoo on the lower back and on the sites, where Miniluv got her art placed so beautifully, is no walk in the park, or an hour in Disney land. IT HURTS!!!

Getting a tattoo on the arm is nothing, if it wasn’t for the sound of the machine you could fall asleep, but I don’t think anyone is getting a nap getting a dragon or tiger on the site.

Please tell me it hurts Miniluv, otherwise I guess you are the girl in Terminator 3 kicking Arnold:)

Oliver - Wow, thanks for putting that link for Kore Flatmo, that is an amazing site! Especially love the Geisha design, I'm thinking about getting something to cover up the symbol I have on the base of my spine and that's given me an idea of what to get....
Miniluv
Posted: 2003-07-18 08:10:24
Oliver and Dirk - Yes, the dragon hurt quite a bit, which is a big understatement!

The tiger didn't actually bother me that much as it didn't go onto my ribs, but the dragon covers my hip, part of my pelvis at the top front and goes into my rib area... ow! I guess I will forget how much it hurt in time, but seeing as it's not even two weeks old yet the pain is still very fresh! .... plus it's itching like CRAZY!

Oliver Sperling
Posted: 2003-08-14 10:50:29
I hope to have my tat2 finish in less than two weeks from today. (14/08-2003)

I still need to get some white colour in it, shadows and a black outline to make it perfect. So about an hour or two more in the chair, and it should be finish.

It looks very dark on the photo, but that is because the picture is taken only few minutes after the last needle has been boring in my skin. It will turn out to be lighter after a week or two.

Miniluv ;

What is your next project? Mine is mine left arm, I need to have my sleeve made finish. Once you started, it is a never-ending story:)

Oliver Sperling

Miniluv;

I will be more nice in about 4-6 weeks from now, when the colors has turned deep into the skin. Time will make the tattoo looks softer and lighter, and the skin area around the tattoo less red and irritated

As you might is able to see on the photo above, the blood is still showing in the 8-ball and in the letters, because the photo is taken few minutes after the last needle prick. Thanks Miniluv.

I am looking forward to see your Geisha tattoo, when you sooner or latter in the future gets your project started. Do your "local" tattoo studio has a web page? Good luck with the tattoo.
