Hiya there everyone,
i've been off the full contact scene for some time now and recently attended the full contact show at Walsall town hall last weekend. Although i had heard of Zuccala and Wood i had never seen them fight. I was very impressed with both fighters standard.
On the bill also was a very talented fighter called Harvey Harra. i believe he has some titles already and for me i think he could be the future of british full contact.
Can all the fighters and promoters who post on AX let me know of any other talented full contact fighters that are hot property at the moment. Can you post on what kind of stylists they are, what titles if any they hold and who they have fought.
Thank for getting me clued back up on this amazing sport.

Jason.

Without putting too much pressure on them , two names to look out for are "Ricky Wood" currentt ISKA Light middleweight champion and "Scott Taylor" , both young lads with a very priomising future . Not only are they talented but they have the right mentallity and general out look on what they are achieving .

Just two names though out of very good full contact scene !!

I'll do the bulldog's job and say John Orchard, very good. Dale and Fran fought at 72.5 I think (correct me if I'm wrong) and John usually fights at 75. If a weight could be agreed any combination of those three would be a great fight.

Others include Mary Cox Jr, possibly the best pound for pound in the UK. Nick Gill is one I've seen a lot of and he's being brought along very nicely by trevor Spencer. At the younger end saw a kid from Liverpool named Roy Fletcher and he looks a very good propsect. Knocked out a very good opponent with a cracking left hook when I saw him.

I will mention one of my own guys paul Wiffen, not a youngster (he's 35) but the best at 55 kilos.

Yeah, good call colin on John Orchard.
I once sparred with him, and he is soooooooooo fast and he was taking it easy on me!! ( I wanted to throw some low kicks and knees, but he wouldnt let me... well thats my excuse for him giving me a 'lesson'!!)

Greg Mead at 69-72KG British champion 2 associations, i forget the names, stopped Bertil Q in 2 rounds i know was looking for a fight with Fran for ages but they never seemed to accept it.
Colin Payne
Posted: 2003-12-05 06:35:40
good call, greg is a good fighter..A couple of more are jason Vasallo at 63.5kg and George pattison at 69 kilos. George is British champion with ISKA, WKU AND WKMA and unlike a lot of fighters would fight anyone, regardless of what title is attached to it.

Amongst the up and comers is Jag's fighter Barinder Singh. He looks really strong. Garry Taylor from Grantham has hit some good form lately and Steve Smith from Eddie Dujon's is a good Super-middle.

Zebs, next time why don't you headbutt him! LOL

I think youre right , i think Fran ha sbeat Greg ! Birtle Queilly is a great guy and but a bit of a journey man now really i stopped him in two aswell two years back , real shame too was looking like a good fight .

Ive never seen him but i hear alot of good things about a fighter from the middlesborough area ... Engulf Neilson something or other .. i appologise for forgetting his name ..... some one help me out here !

Ingloff Neilsen

hes a tall guy from up north
used to fight in the "light" continuous circuit under a club called "Sandhu-kai"
run by a guy called Bal Sandhu.

Ingloff neilsen fought on the EMA circuit and used to kick everyones arses at under 80kg
Farhad
Posted: 2003-12-05 09:28:55
Ingloff neilsen caused an upset and nearly KO'd Trevor Francis at the "QUEST" 2 tournament.

Also Mumtaz shaffi (who now fights at 57-59kg) foughgt ingloff neilsen
Ingloff was too big for mumtaz and put him down TWICE with right hands!

Paul Lynch will make them all look like novices
you heard of Paul Lynch?
he walked through the WAKO amateurs like 3 times so far,...
he also represented the WAKO GB team in FC in Kiev
Ask Smiler he shared a room with lynchy

What was the weight when Mumtaz fought Neilsen?? can't believe they were ever the same weight division.

Paul Lynch is VERY fast and skilfull
dunno what hed be like against Fran Zuccula tho,... i think hed do ok till he gets hit with a right hand to the body :P

Now paul is more expereicned than dale wood and fran zuccula put together!!!
hes had literally 100's of fights

one warning tho to promoters and trainers,...
if one of youre guys is beating up one of paul lynch's students,...
then GOD help you once the fight is over,...coz paul will lay into you there and then OR wait till youve left the venue

Snail

it speaks volumes about corruption in FC , you of all ppl shud know about that.

as for "quality" FC fighters,...
certain fighters have been "built up" on fighting novices for most of theyre fights and you KNOW what im talking about.
a fighter with 7/8 fights fighting a first timer eh? you think thats fair?

Farhad, the snail has hit it on the head mate about your comments. I'm sure it's all tongue in cheek but what the hell do you mean by 'he'll let you know of his displeasure!'I've never met the guy, so can't comment. But nor have most people on here, gotta be careful he's lawyers are not reading LOL. Bottom line is if he's a quality fighter I'd love to have him on my shows. I'll just book myself a f***ing big bodyguard! LOL

Serious question though, what is FC Corruption??????? Tell us more. Is it like Watergate or who killed kennedy or is it just ' we should have got that decision but we didn't'
Farhad
Posted: 2003-12-08 04:21:05
right colin here goes,
i was at an open tournament,.. and i witnessed his student being knocked stupid by this other guy.
paul jumped onto the mat and pushed the fighter out of the way and started threatening him then tried to punch him and started pushing referees and officials around!!!
Also a fighter lost a split decision to him and went to touch gloves with him after the fighgt to which he simply replied "fuck off" to and refused to shake hands

good sportsman ship eh?

Mead fought Zuccala when he was a novice, his 1st 5 rounder and was close but Mead lost on points, Rematch has never been taken, Mead has knocked out a good few tasty chaps since then, Ingolf was also taken down, he is 72kg fighter now.

you always seem to shit stir on behalf of people. Yet if they knew what you were saying on their behalf they would probably give you a good slap. You slag off Muay Thai regularly, in a juvenile and irritating way. You recently implicated a Thai boxing camp for the K1 scrap, who weren't even involved ( I am informed, on good authourity, that they are just waiting to see you face to face 'to show their displeasure'). You slag off a fellow kickboxer who isn't an Axer and can't defend his reputation, which I find rather sad. If you haven't got the guts to say these things to a persons face then you should keep your acidic opinions to yourself. Well done to the snail for picking you up on your shit stirring, he's only said what many were thinking.

snail, i was the good looking one Ha ha! I was by the Dj Box on the left as you looked on. You were there?? Should have said Hello. Not a bad show, obviously just a small show, but a good five rounder with Suky and danny and a battle between Mark Thompson and Andy McKenzie so worth it. Poor old Dean was let down by a couple of fighters and then the doctor got stuck in traffic, but all went well in the end.

Farhad, Sorry mate but I think that post is correct. I've said before we have to be careful to not misuse Ax. As no doubt most could, I could come on here and bore everyone about the behaviour of certain people, including well known ones but its ultimately damaging so best left.

Farhad mate in a sport that needs to be proffesional , well run and organised so it can grow and show its full potential you really can't go around childishly stirring the way you have here .... and from a guy who goes on about how our sport isn't run proffesionally, well run and organised it simply makes your other agruments look very weak .

Colin .... i was there at Newark to see Scott Taylor fight , he fought out of the Panthers gym but joins me for training regular ! shame Dean was let down but made the most of what he had and did well .i enjoyed it .

Barinder singh and his cousins Karlbir and Harjinder Singh will be big names in the full contact scene.
This isn't because I train with them (ok a little bit) but the attititude Barinder displays in both the gym and outside with regards to his focus to the sport and determination tells me he's going to be a big name.

He's alread a Midlands Area Champion and has an impressive record
Colin Payne
Posted: 2003-12-12 07:09:29
Yeah, seen Barinder and he's really strong. Only saw karlbir fight Light con but could see he's gonna be a good one, and of course Fads there's you as well, that is if leave that thai boxing alone LOL

I mention one of mine, and a women as well. My girl Bonnie Webb is now 3-0 and I'm going to struggle to get her fights soon, but she's developing nicely and has a really good FC style. She's 62 kilos at moment so if anyone has a similar girl then let me know.

I've heard of a few of those guys but most of the names mentioned are new to me. I'll have to get around to some live shows in the new year and see some of them in action.
What do you guys think of Harvey Harra? i was ultra impressed with him on the Walsall show and think he could go all the way if he is managed correctly.
A few more fighters who a few years ago were making allot of noise were Paul Murphy, Simon Dore, Phil Richard, Perry Benn and a very tasty fighter from Birmingham i think called Niel Kelly. Does anybody know if these guys are still active and if so what do you think of their ability's and capabilities?
Farhad

neil kelly is still the man
even tho he fights once a year,...
perry benn didnt he go into boxing? i havent heard much of him to be honest i think when he was winning titles ive heard he was like 35!!!
phil richards is still around and still KO'ing ppl.

harvey harra is possibly the BEST FC fighter to watch i think hell beat almost anyone at 69kg i think.

Simon dore is fighting K-1 sometimes,. but once in a while,.. i think he does occasional top of the bill fight in leicester

Paul Lynch is a good friend and colleague of mine.

Yep, we shared a room in Kiev, where he lost about 6lbs in 5 days and I think it was pneumonia he caught out there! Paul was also a long standing member of the British Ju-jitsu squad and fought internationally with us.

Paul is one of Britian's most experienced kickboxers - he's been there, seen it, done, and went back for more! That's from points, light continuous, and through to full contact.

Well travelled, well competed, top bloke.

Sort of - everyone was treated badly!

We lived off vinegered carrot (until Barrington had the bright idea of asking at a local school for English speaking kids, and we hired a guide and got some chicken!) We used our tape up to stop the draughts on the windows, it was minus 17 centigrade at midday without windchill....late nights (finishing 2-5am the next morning - back in the arena at 7.....)

Vitaly Klishco always and the rest of the Ukrainian team always appeared only just before their fights....

But it was the same for everyone - I think it was just how poor that country actually is! (Not just the GB team that suffered...)

And the event was fantastic - about 60 countries in attendance!!!!! Class fights, class event!
