95032 : BOB SAPP AND GRAND PRIX

The_Inside_Track
Posted: 2002-12-06 02:02:33

Ok. I've let you people sound ridiculous for far too long...

Let me get this straight for you right now.

Bob Sapp is going to kill Hoost. End of story. How you can think that Hoost has a chance is beyond my comprehension. Stupid is as stupid does I guess.

Bob Sapp is going to win the GRAND PRIX completely.

It is better that you accept this now, rather than look like an idiot - LIKE YOU DID LAST TIME - when Bob Sapp wins.

Thank you for you applause...

It's possible. It could be anyone's fight. That would make Sapp the first American K-1 champ.

World peace would be nice! Having a football player and a stand up comedian to win the K-1 would not be nice....

one nfl match doesn't make him a football player in my book. if this were sesame street, i'd say "let's not just talk about it. let's sing about it."

but you all know this ain't sesame street so i'll just say "wait for it. see it tomorrow. then rub tit's nose in it."

I've meet Bob on a Couple of occassions - he is a bloody nice guy -

buts he's still going down - If he goes 2 rounds he's in deep water. With his weight a serious leg kicker will cause him problems to say nothing of a serious puncher .... Timber!!!

But scary though a guy which such limited skill creating so much havoc - size does matter sometimes ...

Oh for fuck's sake not you again.

I still think that in the street any decent smaller fitter fighter would just shout 'OI you fat bastard', run around a bit till he was knackered and then kick his head in.

Dude, that's an interesting question. For street fights (not that I'm ever in any)I'm never sure about the whole size question. How would a guy my size (72kgs)do against a guy whose 110kg's. It's not a ring fight I cant just dance around and score points to win, you have to hurt the person badly. I think it's easier said than done. I just can't imagine my punches doing that much on some huge jock...

Richie,

You'd be suprised. Regardless of size there's only so much force anyone can take when hit with a peach bang on the chin.

A friend of mine was an English schoolboys champion boxer and quite an accomplished amauter boxer. A fuc*ing huge scaffolder guy, he must have been about at leats 100kg, started trying to initmidate him in the pub one day, one right cross and a left hook later, the guys on the deck. My mates weighs 64kg. As much as I'm not keen of street violence it was bloody impressive to watch I have to admit.

Though I doubt my punches would have had the same effect on the brute !

I'd have to agree - a chin is a chin but it does depend if you can reach it.

A good throat strike will drop most people to the ground but thats definatley a self defense shot. Getting Bob in the throat with that neck of his would not be a high percentage chance. Best to kick him in the shin and run like f##k.

dirk,

I have the impression that hoost will win the fight...(of course, under fair rules...)

(but, I think that aerts' style could be much more dominant against a fighter like sap...)

Taken from the interview with Ernesto Hoost at Man-magazine.

Quote:
"Would you like to fight Sapp again?"

"Why not. I think that he does not stand a chance when I am in my normal shape. On the other hand, I have nothing to prove to others. It might just be an interesting fight to the appreciators more than to me."

I just think that Sapp has a huge size advantage, and if he can do what he did to Hoost last time, then I feel sorry for Hoost. But you cannot and should not underestimate the great dutch champion. This guy has knocked out or beaten everybody who is anybody, and in my opinion really excels in the tournament format. In saying that, the same could be said for Sapp as well. I think that underestimation can turn around and bite people in the butt(depending on who they are backing). Remember last year.....Mark "The Doctor"Hunt proved that anything can and does happen. As far as knocking out big guys goes, I agree with the above axers, in that a chin is a chin (just gotta hit harder for big boys) and the hard part of that is being able to get in to do it. Im on the nightclub doors in Hamilton, NZ and there are guys as big as and bigger than Sapp down here, plus they have the power and sometimes the durability of Hunt, or NZ Heavyweight boxer David Tua. All the Kiwis will know that. Its easier said than done, and I hope that whoever fights Sapp, be they Hoost, Sefo, or Aerts, manages to get in and do the job, which Im sure they will. Osu!

There is no doubt that streetfighting is an entirely different ballgame than fighting in the ring but knowing how to fight does help. A good 15 years or so ago I was about 67 kilos, fit and hit very hard. I got into a scrap with a guy about 100 kilos and he was laughing at me because I had hit him couple times with no effect. I managed to time a punch just right and caught him on the chin and down and out he went. When he woke up he asked what happened and his buddy said "that little guy knocked you out."

I think in Sapps case, obviously his size counts alot. Whether he can take out Hoost is a good question. I wonder just how much Ernesto's conditioning had to do with him getting beat the last time and if he is ready for this fight. My guess is he is ready and he's gonna chop big Bob Sapp down like a redwood tree. I give it 3 rounds and Sapp is going to quit (I'm tired) or get KTFO. I want to see that big stupid grin wiped off his fat head personally. I'd like to see Aerts and Hoost in the finals and wish my ticket would have come thru as I should have been there right now!!!

Actually I can see why the Japanese love Sapp. Apparently he is becoming quite a celebrity there. He's a big freak and he has proven despite his lack of skills to be extremely dangerous in MMA and K-1. And he has made some of the funniest pre-fight and post-fight interviews I have ever seen. Sapp's puppet show had me dying of laughter. I don't rate his chances of becoming K-1 champ very high but you know no matter the outcome it'll be very entertaining and there will likely be some exciting KOs whether it's him or someone else.

Oh yeah I should add I think Hoost can still beat him but tomorrow we'll all know.

BOB SAPP PULLED OUT OF THE K1 FINAL BECAUSE HE HURT HIS HAND. WHAT A WARRIOR. LOL. HE IS A SPORTSMAN. THATS IT.

AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED IF HOOST CAME BACK AND WON HE HAS SHOWN HE IS A WINNER IN TERMS HEART AND SPIRIT ALONE.

BOB SAPP MIGHT BE AN AWESOME POWERHOUSE BUT FIRST HE IS A HUGE MAN WHO WEIGHS 2 TIMES THE WEIGHT OF THE OTHER FIGHTERS, SECONDLY HE PULLED OUT, THIRDLY HE IS A SPORTSMAN AND SHOWS NO RESPECT FOR THE MARTIAL ARTS OR BUDO SPIRIT. I BELIEVE K1 SHOULD STICK TO ITS BUDO ROOTS.

P.S I DON'T HINK HE HURT HIS HAND. I THINK HOOST HURT HIS LEGS. AND HIS CONFIDENCE.

Hoost must be made of steel this year (except for his chin). Sapp broke his hand, Sefo broke his leg, and Lebanner broke his arm.

it's not fair. he's bonier than all his opponents. now we are going to have all the boney athletes coming out of the woodwork. blah blah whine whine!!

Yes Hoost was driving on the wheels of steels this year! And luck was his driver.

HELLO PEOPLE

FIRST OF ALL , SAPP DID BREAK HIS HAND , DURING THE TELECAST (ON JAPAN TV )THEY SHOW HIM IN HIS CHANGE ROOM , HIS HAND WAS SO SWOLLEN HE COULDNT MAKE A FIST , SO IT WAS FOR REAL AND NOT AN ACT

2ND THIS GOES TO INSIDE_TRACK MAINLY
IF SAPP IS SO GOOD , THEN WHY IN 2 BOUTS HASNT HE KO'D HOOST ??????????
IN THE 1ST , IT WAS STOPPED DUE TO HOOST SUSTAINING A BAD CUT
IN THE 2ND , THE REF STOPPED IT DUE TO HIM THINKING HOOST WAS IN TROUBLE
HOOST WASNT IN TROUBLE , HE TOOK ALL THE PUNCHES ON THE GLOVES ( GOOD DEFENSE )BUT DUE TO SAPPS SIZE AND HOOST NOT THROWING PUNCHES BACK THE REF ASSUMED HOOST WAS IN TROUBLE AND STOPPED THE FIGHT

SAPP JUST KO'S FIGHTERS WHOSE DEFENSIVE SKILLS DONT COMPARE TO THE LIKES OF HOOST

HOOST IS AWESOME , CONSIDERING HE IS AROUND 65KG LIGHTER THAN SAPP , TAKES SAPPS BEST AND CAN STILL BEAT THE HELL OUT OF SAPP AND EVEN DROP SAPP WITH A BODY SHOT

SO INSIDE_TRACK I DONT KNOW WHICH FIGHTS YOU ARE WATCHING OR WHAT DRUGS YOU TAKE BUT YOU OBVIOUSLY CANT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GREAT FIGHTER AND A BAR ROOM BRAWLER

WAKE UP TO YOURSELF AND STOP MAKING IDIOTIC COMMENTS WITH NO SUBSTANCE

CHEERS

Nogueira, Rodrigo MINOTAURO Nogueira...
Is a killer of giants, first Sapp then Schilt. Schilt looked like he was wearing a tie when he got caught in the triangle choke and stood up. Funny.

I think you guys are missing the point. Both times Hoost fought Sapp he lost.

Yeah But dont tell inside track.

Now one likes to see an icon like Hoost beaten by a relatively unskilled newcomer. But to give Sapp his due he sucked up the punishment and won. When was the last time anyone beat Hoost Twice ?

I like Bob I just hate his fighting style or lack there of - and similarly although I appreciate the marketing value of his antics ... I don't really like what is says about K-1 and its direction - this needs to be balanced out by K-1 management some how.
