Topic:Ashley Guishard Returns To The Ring!
Mr Smith
Posted: 2003-01-09 11:57:58
I have just been told that Ashley Guishard will fight again on Pele Nathans show in Altrincham UK on 23 March. Ashley has been out of action following a motorbike accident about 5 years ago.

If this is true it is great news. Does anyone know anything about it?

On the same show I understand that one of Bad Company's former fighters and instructors, Commonwealth Champion Steve Deane, now under his own Steppin' Razor camp, will fight after 4 years out.

Looking forward to seeing both of them in action again.
Ashley was a great fighter and I am glad he is back in good health, when I went to see him in hospital after his accident my greatest fear was that it would be the end of his career. It will be good for British Thai Boxing if he can find his old form!
Steve was also an exiting fighter and I have had the pleasure of promoting him myself!
Good Luck to both of you!

Clubs in lincoln?
I dont think there is a thaiboxing club in lincoln,. but there is a kickboxing club called "chikara" run by Jez Hall, Jez Halls club used to be famous for Trevor TNT Tacy and Lee Swaby , both of whom are boxing Pro now.
Apparently,... TNT and Lee Swaby work the doors at night now.
100114 : I thought that FARHD but need an add: / Phone ? e-mail?

Dave.
I too visited Ashley a few times in hospital. I was there every day for a while, as my wife was having a kidney transplant.
I couldn't believe it when i saw Pele walking down the corridor one day, and i was totally shocked when i heard what had happened.
Anyway, if you remember he was wiggling the fingers about and hoping the tendons weren't too badly damaged, and was always pretty cheery etc.
I can't believe it's five years to attempt to fight again. I still watch the fight when he beat Dida quite often, and i only hope that he can rebuild to somewhere near that level again.
I guess everyone will want to try to get his name on their records now.
IMO he was probably the best Muaythai fighter we have produced in this country (apart from Pete:-) and if nothing else, he can inspire a new generation of fighters who missed seeing him in his prime/youth.

Yes Colin, I hope it is not an under parr Ashley that returns for the same reasons you state. It would be a shame to see him beaten by someone that wouldnt have dared step in the ring with him 5 years ago!
100209 : i agree !
