Well ! phone call from Dale to tell me that Jack has been left my Gym for a period of time? first I new about this was on this thread???? Dale informed me that a meeting has taken place with him and John/Jack Clay to ask Dale to Manage /train Jack and that a meeting has tacken place with my self with them to tell me that Jack has left my care. No meeting with me has ever taken place and infact the last conversation I had with jack was that he would never leave my gym ?????. Well another waisted 3 years of my life on another fighter waisted.

There is no loyalty in this sport any mare

Cheers Chris. Had a little bit of time out to get married last year but still got three fights in last year and ended the year with a good KO win.

Looking to get a little busier this year too, but am fancying a go at K1 rules after this one. Hows you mate? Anything on the horizon?

To clarify ... i dont want to turn this thread into a slanging match ... jack has been poppin down the gym quite regular and eventually showed interest in fighting for jesters . his dad and jack spoke with me about it and i agreed if that was the way he wanted to go i was happy to help but things needed to be done in the right way .... Once it was official and on the fight card i called doug simlpy out of respect to chat and be straight about it all . i was not aware jack had not spoken to him but that is between doug and jack .......... at the end of the day jack approached me m happy to help , his reasons for leaving are not my concern .

DOUG ... i dont feel u wasted 3 yrs on him its obvioulsy helped him therefore a benefit . he left wirksworth kickboxing to be with you he left you to be with jesters . he may leave me to go wherever its progression , its something we have to live with mate im not entirely sure its about loyalty .. but if you feel his move to jesters is a waste then then i think you are not giving Jesters the respect it deserves. Jacks move is between you and him , what his move can do to benefit him is between me and jack .

JAG ... Leicester are only on the show through shear desperation for matches ....lmao x

Hi Dale I dant want to go dawn that path neither. Im to long in the tooth for it.

I think what im trying to say is its dissapointment..

I wish Jack had been straight with me as you have been and you had the respect to phone me to let me no what was happening.

I have full respect for any kickboxing club includung yours(jesters). Its a hard task to look after peaple and thier problems ect.

I had some big plans for Jack as I have had with Scott/Sara and of course your self not so many years ago.
Well Good look

Its a bit disapointing when fighters move on but it does happen. The way I look at is they pay to train with me so I get training fees for the years they are there. These days they are customers and they see it as they are buying a product, right or wrong it is the way.

I tell all of mine they are free to train at any other club with my blessing and they do from time to time. If they leave I just wish them well, no matter how I feel at the time. I take the veiw that I'm better off without them, after all, it costs me a lot more to train top fighters than members of the public. If they show me 100% then they get it back. The world has changed somewhat!

Yes mark unfortunatly I have not been payed to teach any one for some time??? more fool me. my fighters dant pay it is all free. we make the rent from kids classess to pay the rent. Scot takes these lessons bless him.

It's not really about loyalty. People are going to go wherever is suits them and for whatever reason. In fact some people stay out of a sense of loyalty when they are not happy.
The important thing is to do it the right way. Dale has. What he says is correct.
In the first instance the fighter/student should talk to the instructor. It's something that I always insist on. I'll talk to the instructor if someone wants to come to me but I won't have the initial conversation. If you want to make the move you need to stand up and be counted - and that means communicating with your instructor.

My phone call is always after that. If you dont have the balls to do that - I don't need you, whoever you are. And thats the way it should be.

On the reverse, if you are leaving me - just say so! It's ok!

The fight I was refering to Nathan Kirk v Qas.

Did not get exited about Qas v Kamara as it was an easy fight for him last time out. This is a test however with Kirk knocking out Glover last time out.

A very credible English title and a good test of both fighters.

Congratulations to Jack Clay on last nights win over Adam Myre looked to have gained a more balanced style working well from a solid base.
A below par Mick Crossland showed why he is quality, with a win KO over Nigel Thomas, rumour was Mick had been ill prior to the fight and that looked evident in the early stages but Mick being Mick Got his man out of there early in time honoured fashion, well done Mick deserved British champion for sure.
Qasim Nisar was well Qasim Nisar anyone who has had th epleasure of watching Qasim fight will know that is all you really need to say awesome, against a man who brought what he thought was a big enough punch to the fight to have Qasim early, but in truth Qasims conqueror ( if ever there is to be one ) will need a lot more than that Polished proffesional and determined describes the new SuperLight Weight English Champion.
Tate V Randle was always going to be a great fight and big hitting Randle would I feel started slithgly the favourite in what was a very even match. But Randle met his match in Tate another fighter with heavey hands but with height reach and better kicking technique held the cards to deal with Randle obvious big threat. Credit to the division two very very well turned out fighters and a great fight.
Dale Thanks for your hospitality and some great fights mate well done.

Thanks for the comments lads. And thanks to Dale and Paul Henessey for putting on the show and to Dale, Chris, and Craig for training me for this fight.

Its true i'd missed a week and a halfs training very close to the bout due to the flu but this didn't affect me that much except that my sparring was limited so it took me a couple of rounds to find my range but whle i was messing about loading up and not feeling things out Nigel was fighting a very good fight so credit needs to go to Nigel who was well prepared and following his fight plan. As usual tho i settled and found my range and the power told. Have seen the video and i felt i won the first, lost the second and then obviously won the third. My fitness was good and i was settled by the third and would've continued to get better from there however once the shots that were missing in the second started landing that was that.

Credit goes to Nigel for a strong performance and to Amir for geting Nigel into fantastic shape, ive no doubt he'l be back and will shake things up as he is a much improved fighter over the last 6 months. Have to say Nigel was huge at the weight and looks a lot bigger than me on the clips ive seen of the fight! Will be back down at 78 next time out and 75kg is definately beckoning. Woke up this morning at 78.3kg!!

Congrats to Jack Clay who was awesome and hard luck to Ben Seddon who had the fight won before suffering a freak injury! Qas as usual was electric, its ridiculous how good he is and when you consider his age its frightening!!

I don't normally comment on fights that I Referee. Ben was a gentleman, and he took the decision well. He showed respect for the decision whilst in the ring, and came to find me to shake my hand afterwards.

As I was the Referee, and not a Judge, I can only tell you what I think as a non-scoring spectactor. Ben was winning the first two rounds in my opinion, but I can only inform you of my opinion (which is not official because I cannot score). I didn't check the sheets to see what the Judges had scored, but they were spot on all night, and I would suggest they shared my opinion. Who knows though what would have happened if the fight had continued.

This was billed as a five round fight. The injury happened in the third round. Ben was in a lot of pain, and I was more interested that he was able to fight another day. Two and a half further rounds of Oriental is not what I would prescribe for anyone with a knee injury. Ben was down for over a minute, and he was screaming in pain about a knee injury. I have Refereed two fights previously where knee-caps have shifted to the back of the knee joint, so I was well aware of what could have happenned to Ben. Nobody wants a Referee to stall in getting Medical help when a Fighter's health is concerned.

Even if this was a three round fight, I would not have allowed him to continue. A knee injury can be an injury for life! The Doctor and Paramedic entered the ring and I took Ben's mouthguard out whilst he was on the floor.

In the sober light of the aftermath, everyone would have done the same, and stopped the fight from continuing. Ben was not in a condition to continue, purely based on a total freak hyper-extention accident, and not based upon his determination to win which was undisputed.

Ben, you were great! I realise how disapointed you, and your team were with the incident. I wish you well on your next fight, and I am sure that you will find the winning streak soon.

Fair post pete .. the fight should have been scheduled for 3 x 2 mins but i believe was not changed on the original sheet (which you will have read) , poor oversight on our behalf , hence the confusion .

As for the decision ! at the time i was gutted for ben and would have loved him to hang on for the last 30 to take his first win as he wanted .. BUT you are right the fighters health has to come first and your call was correct. Ben is a fighter and wanted to fight , but hes got agood head on his shoulders he'll be back better stronger and take that deserved win !!

Thak you to all the officials , you complimented a good show !

cheers for the kind comments guys. will be going to the hospital today as it was shut yesterday to see whats up with the knee. hopefully it won't be anything too bad.

i spoke to pete afterwards, no hard feelings. he was only doing his job. its easy to forget that the ref is looking out for the fighters health when the sport involves hitting and kicking someone :)

nice show dale with some quality fights on it and a nice venue. the white collar boxing were a nice change as well.

at least i won on the raffle!!!!

Firts of all thanks to Dale for having us in a nice part of the country (fist time around in that corner) as well as for the fights.
Very well organised, nice little venue and some good fights mate : )

Cheers Mick, yes Nigel is gutted and did train hard and of course will be back lol but well done to you - great finish and it is not a shame loosing against a good fighter as you are : )
Good luck in the lower divisions too : )

Other fights were great Qas is a star...amazing, watched him few times already and always a pleasure! Also nice meeting dome other gyms too : )

Andrew won on points with one 8 count in one of the round and fair play to Paul for sticking it in...Thanks to all : )

Great show Dale!

Sorry to hear about Nathen Surge. Hope they are being cautious and he can fight again. Wish him well its never nice when a young lad gets injured.

Thought Mick was a bit Dalesque in his performance. Looked more patient and composed than ive ever seen him. Great reverse for the knock down. Well done mate.

Well done also to Qas. He wasnt to know Nathen was hurt so just did his job.Well done Qas and ur team.

Felt for Ben as I had him miles ahead. Cant argue with Pete mind good ref good decission.

Young Jack gave Adam from our gym a hard time and deserved his victory with a good acomplished display. Anyone who saw that fight can see how much the BLCC concept prepares fighters for FC.

Also get the feeling im gonna hear the name Andrew Tate a few times in the future. Paul Randle is a big puncher but Tate never let him settle. He dictated the fight and looked for me like a fighter beyond his years. Look forward to seeing him fight again.

Mick does this mean you are gonna get some new boottoms with little frilly bits on?

Regards

Dean

'Credit goes to Nigel for a strong performance and to Amir for geting Nigel into fantastic shape, ive no doubt he'l be back and will shake things up as he is a much improved fighter over the last 6 months' ...

Didn't take too long. We're delighted that Amir has accepted the fight for Nigel to meet seasoned Irish campaigner Robert Cassells (Champions Kickboxing, Ireland) in a 6 round International Prestige bout at UNLEASHED, 20th June in Telford.

Dean I dant understand the BLCC claim ? If you are talking about Jack Clay he has not been involved in the BLCC
Snail
Posted: 2009-05-03 19:57:42
Dean: Doug has a fair point about the BLCC , a much as i hold the BLCC and its circuit in high regard and respect the fighters it produces , as far as i know jack was not been put out in the BLCC circuit and therefore has not yet made use of it and benifitted from it.

I stand corrected.

The way he handled himself and the composure he did show he looked as though he had lots of ring experience for a young lad.
The belts he had looked like the ones used by BLCC also.

In that case his coach and also Jack should be proud. He was excellent on the night and has a big future.

Apologies

Dean Jack has had experiance in light contact and has also competed in Am full contact at a junior level. He holds a British junior title with the WRSA.

If you look at the IKF Am rankings it will give you his record(plus 1) I gess.
