Isn't this the event earlier boasting Muay Thai greats like Yodsaenklai Fairtex, Buakaw Por Pramuk, and Anuwat Kaewsamrit in it...

The Big Question is will we get to see the fight we've all been waiting for.... Yodsaenklai Fairtex vs Buakaw Por Pramuk??

i think Yod is too heavy for him now and Buakaw is not the fighter he was 2 years ago. Sato's ko of him really hurt him. Yod hasnt lost for ages except for points against Souwer in Holland and that was rubbish.

the fight everyone wants to see is Steve Wakeling v Yod, full rules.

Anyway back to topic , good luck to Julie Kitchen.
Rob
Posted: 2009-04-03 02:32:17
Yod vs Buakao is a silly fight, would have been good a few years back when Yod started beefing up but he's too big for Buakao now would be a one sided fight

Posted: 2009-04-03 03:12:58
dont think that fight will ever happen, arnt they both still fairtex fighters?
its a fight i'd pay ticket money alone for...am i wrong or could this fight happen even if they where both representing fairtex?
Mark Wakeling

Good luck Juuuuuuuuuuuuuulie!

I would like to see Hood v Clifton too.

Steve is only farang who could beat buakow or yod fair full rules MT.

Why isnt someone paying Liam H scandal money to whack someone on this?

Posted: 2009-04-04 07:17:35
i cant see steven beating yod, yodsanklai is heads above anybody around that weight, nobody gives him a fight. i would say that steven is the best westerner in the world at that weight though so hope he pulls it off. yod beat the shit out of lamsongkram, stopping him in two rounds(i think) who else in the world could do that, corbet vs spong will be good but corbet is a good elbow fighter so its not really fair to take elbows out as its his best weapon

Let me say that all of this is Speculation, Hate to disappoint, but I'd have to figure since I'm responsible for the mathcmaking of this event, that I would be the one to say who is fighting who...

This is the Official Post for this event, however, the only confirmed and released fighters for this event are Julie Kitchen and Rayen Simson...
HAWKMAN
Posted: 2009-04-05 21:36:05
i think Corbett would beat Spong full rules. Spong has never fought full rules in the last 3 years at least to my knowledge, even on the Slamm Netherlands v thailand events. What us the point of that? its like inviting over the Brazilian football team and telling them "you cant do your nice little ball skills".

I think Wakeling would give Yod the best fight and i asked Yod about it last october (a bit of name dropping, this was when i was boning the bird out of the pussycat dollz) and he said he would like to fight him. Wakeling would beat Buakaw ftr. I reckon you could sell out a huge venue for Yod v SW but where?which country?

Julie kitchen will beat Rayen Simpson imo.

proper tongue and cheek post from liam, if its true I'm going for an absolute war from both lads with liam knocking anuwat out in the 4th. I'm a fan of anuwats and liams, but liams just put saenchi up against it in london even saenchi said it was a tough fight (i believe).

The card for this show is ace, I bet theres no budget for this show? LOL

If it took place and Liam got in the country ill go for him beating Anuat pts or stoppage i think he is way too powerful and also now has more muaythai skill in every area he can match and beat Anuat kicking and clinching and has more power in his hands too. JMO

8 April, 09

Dear Nok Weed.

I understand that you have been approached to be a ring official for a planned Muaythai event in Jamaica in June. The Jamaican Trust have advised they were unable to proceed with featuring WBC championships this year due to lack of sponsorship. However we are pleased that Muaythai will again be staged in Jamaica at Montego Bay featuring WBC World Champion Yodsaenklia and former champion Steve Wakeling. We would be pleased if you and other WBC MUAYTHAI accredited ring officials could assist with this event to ensure that high standards of rules and safety regulations, as approved and instructed by the WBC MUAYTHAI, are maintained in Jamaica.

Please extend our warmest wishes to our Muaythai friends in Jamaica.

Sawadee,

Patrick Cusick
Secretary General

That will be an ace lineup, are there any plans to sort the PPV, as if it works well I think it would get a fair bit of interest! I think Julie will win the fight, all the best to her and also Stephen and Liam if their matches come off! Splinter, I wouldn't hold your breathe for any emails!
paulinthailand
Posted: 2009-04-18 15:47:24
i cant believe so many people have wrote anuwat off, no doubt liam bangs like a shit house door in a hurricane but anuwat surely has heavier hands and better "pro" boxing skills, i think liam can and probably will beat him(i have money on it) but anuwat is regarded as the best punching thai ever and the last thing a fighter looses is the punch and timeing.i have this a very close fight and if liam lost wouldnt be too surprised, anuwat could never be taken lightly as hes stopped so many better technical fighters than himself. hes got all kinds of power in his hands and one is all it takes for anyone like that!
paulinthailand
Posted: 2009-04-18 16:13:23
that wasnt aimed at splinter, as i hadnt read the thread until i posted, i think if anyone could stop liam by ko id take anuwat over seanchai! although i think liam will win

Awesome.I very much doubt anyone would take Anuwat lightly.I think this is an awesome matchup between 2 guys with a similar style.

Personaly though I think one of the fighters has been at the top of the game/career and is currently on his way down while the other is approaching the top of his game.Although this in no way means either should be discounted.I expect this will be a war!!

I spoke to dzhabar he says Parr got Buakaw, I think it should be Buakaw vs Yodsanklai its the fight everyone wants to see inc Yodsanklai! Thou Steve deserves a chance too its just this fight is well over due.

of course Yod and his management would want it he is a lot bigger than Buakao now, if they tables were turned they wouldnt be so keen, it would have been a good fight a few years ago, but Yod is too big now

What ever happens behind the scenes to make these things happen is behind the scenes for a reason. Lets just leave it at that, and be grateful for the matches.

May well be good ammo for a rumour-monger though! LOL

Who is Patrice Quarteron and seeing he is IKF Super Heavyweight Champion is he defending his title? If you have no one I am keen to take it off him.

Damn. People are right though. I can't see Levin challenging Yod 2nd time round. The same mauling via fists will eventuate.

Carnage/Spong makes the card on it's own. BPP vs JWP will be a guaranteed war, and harrison vs anuwat will be an exciting clash of the punchers.

Buakaw vs Yod wouldn't be fair due to the size difference. Wakeling really is the best person to challenge Yod at this point in time.

Still a mean card anywho.

Listen everyone, I am not only a fighter, but a fan as well, we did everything we could to accomodate Steven Wakeling, but he still had to pull out for personal reasons. Levin Artem is more than capable of giving Yod a fight, he may surprise you guys. We shall see in Jamaica...

i think the only close one will be Spong Corbett (i go with Corbett tho) and Harrison v Anuwat...well whoever lands the first big clean punch!

I go along with paulinthailands predictions.

As discussed before Yod is way too big for BPP now and I think it should have happened 2 years ago.
Plus i think Wakeling vs Yod has to happen in UK...that would be a sell out show!

Get over here guys

http://www.sportzblitz.net/Forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15587

We CARNAGE fans via his trainer Richard WRECKER Walsh are petitioning to get Spong's camp to take on Nathan with elbows.

As if it isn't in Spongs favour by asking Nathan to fight 7kg's above his normal weight, but ALSO taking away his elbows, show your support and put some pressure on Spongs camp...

OH and BTW, CARNAGE will wreak just that on Spong, CARNAGE, even without his golden elbows, but we just want to see Tyrone and his camp take on the champ under FTR...

yod-levin: i think it will end up being a very safe fight. Yod has nothing to prove and Levin will want to improve on his record and finish on his feet.
Outcome? Yod win by points a boring fight.
just my opinion of course, maybe he'll just smash him and go for a round of golf!

RE Patrice Quattron IKF Title Defense...

We hear at the IKF were told all 5 IKF Champions who won their IKF World Titles on this event last year, would be defending them this year. However, we have never received any request to sanction these titles as we did last year.

From our understanding, the IKKC was not asked to sanction again either as well as the WBC, again as was agreed. This was disapointing since this was a fundraising - charity event and the IKF donated the sanctioning.

That being said, we have no idea who Patrice Quarteron will be fighting and it seems clear that he will not be defending his IKF Super Heavyweight Muay Thai World Title as agreed by the promoters of last years event.

Here are the 5 IKF Champions from last year:

CO-SANCTIONED TITLE
IKF & IKKC Muay Thai Light Heavyweight World Title.
Manu N'toh (USA, 174) defeated Vicente Vielvoye (Holland, 175) by TKO-Injury at 2:39 of round 1. (Dislocated knee)
REFEREE: Paula Tocha
JUDGES: Dan Stell, Vichai (Rex), Dej Sriampai.

IKF Muay Thai LIGHT Middleweight World Title.
Deiselleck Rungruangyon (Thailand, 154) defeated Marco Pique (Suriname / Holland, 158.5) by unanimous decision, 48-47, 49-46 and 48-47.
REFEREE: Vichai (Rex).
JUDGES: Dan Stell, Dej Sriampai, Jorge Zarate.

IKF Muay Thai Super Heavyweight World Title.
Patrice Quattron (France, 255.5) defeated Rick Cheek (USA, 234) by TKO at 2:00 of round 1.
REFEREE: Dan Stell
JUDGES: Vichai (Rex), Paulo Tacha, Jorge Zarate.

IKF Pro Cruiserweight World Title.
Manson Gibson USA, 185, 103-9-2/63, (30 Kick KO's) AM KB: 10-0-1/8 vs Edwin Aguilar Mexico, 189, 119-3/87, 10-0 Boxing, 15-7 MMA
Referee: Dan Stell (USA)
Judges: Jorge Zarate (Mexico), Vichai Techanga (Thailand), Paulo Tocha (South Africa)

The IKF would like to wish the best of luck to all the fighters on this event.

Carnage has incredably apt hands, he is a very powerful and technical boxer, he can end a fight with any weapon.

With elbows included, Carnage imo has 75% chance of winning
Without elbows, Carnage imo still has 75% chance of winning

I strongly believe that Carnage is going to punish Spong bad, even with the weight disadvantage.

Carnage (T)K.O in the 3rd or 4th

im gutted to say i made a totall bollocks up of the weight so my fight wont be for the title now, ive been walking around in great shape and been checkin on hotel scales my weight and had bleeached myself down to what i thought was near enough on weight...when the fight scales got here yesterday i was over on thos by 1kg and went away to try sweat it out but i was super dry and tried everything and could only lose about .4of a kgso was still 600grams over...i tried everything to get it off right to the point off nearly passing out but it just wouldnt budge and you only get a certain period of time to make the weight....myself and Anuwat will still fight tho so its all still on and to be honest his name on my CV will be better than a belt on my mantle piece but im pissed off with myself more than anything....can see from the pictures i was ripped up but i havent lower than 62 for 2 years and i just totally misjudged it...i prob wont be fightin lower than 62 from now on

We just been offered a fight tonight here in the UK, no title, just prestige, but a fight we want as someone is dodging one of my fighters and I said to my fighter tonite, FORGET Titles or No 1 spots it's the name at the end of the day and this guy has more pedigree.

Your a true champion Liam, yes it would be nice to have the belt, but hey! The win for you, for Richard, for GB.....NOW Thats more impressive.

Liam. Your talking from the heart, but you've only just fought. If you were the finished product that would be fair, but if you're a constant work in progress with lots of things to work on and hone, then it can only get better. I know that disappointment your feeling now hurts, but in the future you may look at these last few fights as the ones that taught you the most and brought you on the most.

This is a public forum, and people are entitled to post. I hate all this "say it to his face" stuff. What, you have to be able to fight someone to be entitled to express an opinion?
RedRaven
Posted: 2009-06-27 06:22:46
Colin H., I Agree with you it is a public forum and I imagine the AXE people welcome an expression of opinion- but disrespectful opinions have no place, one of the core values in the sport is respect. People sometimes forget that.

Look Liam got into the ring with another legend, the fight didnt go kindly for the lad- Im sure hes put a lot of time and effort into his prep and sure he was a wee bit over on the day but you can see how much that upset him- twice in over 62 fights hes weighed in over thats good in my book.

We all know how good Liam has become over the years and he knows himself he could go the distance and deliver a good fight with the Thai but the gods didnt favor him and his knee went early- many fights have stopped early because of cuts and damaged limbs thats the sport- its just unlucky.

Anyway disrespectful posts have no place unless one can express that view person to person and without hidding behind a keyboard.

The next time you meet Liam tell him face to face what you think of him in regards to his fight you never know you might have a good debate and he might even respect you for have the courage to say it to his face.......will that happen.......doubt it.

Feck the begrudgers Liam, your doing what many of us only dream...keep it up lad I wish I turn back the clock and make more of all the time I lost doing other things.

Chok Dee

Somehow I don't think 'Lance' will even add to this thread again, let alone speak to Liam in that tone to his face.

Liam, put this behind you and concentrate on where you go from here. I'm sure you will learn from this, being the dedicated pro that you are and come back a smarter, more intelligent fighter. I feel sorry for Anuwat on the 10th October if it goes ahead!! Look at what happened to Numphon when you got your rematch!!

Posted: 2009-06-27 06:40:28
Liam as someone has already stated we would stay up every night mate if you were fighting reason being you are a World Class Fighter end of. You are fighting Thai Legends mate and holding your own. How many other people outside of Thailand are dong that ? not many. Just to get in there and fight at that level is tremendous. I can't imagine how you are feeling right now mate but you will come back stronger and better than ever. Like I said to Andy after his fight you are an inspiration too sooo many people, you have no idea. I woke a wee guy up early this morning to come down the stairs and watch his hero fight, he didnt want to watch any other fights just yours, why ? because you have been an inspiration to him for many many years and will be for many years to come. Like us all he was devastated, you are so humble that I don't think you realise the impact you have on people. You will go on to become the best farang ever no doubt. See you soon mate, we luv ya x.

Lance is a dick, he spouts crap like that on other threads, one best to simply ignore I feel.

Fact is liam stepped up tp the plate and was recognised as being capable of doing that in such esteemed company as was on that card. Thats all that needs to be said about his ability.

When you get to the VERY top in MT everyone loses against each other, thats what happens when champions fight. Better to do that than have a career knowing you have ducked and avoided people along the way.

gofightlive.tv released the following statement........

Refund Policy for Champion of Champions
The producers of the Champion of Champions event Friday night had video production issues that caused a delay in the start of the event, as well as several outages in the video feed, including during the main event. GFL's webcast was operating during the entire event, but because the incoming video signal failed intermittently, there was nothing being broadcast at times.

GFL is attempting to secure a high quality master video of all fights and will post these as soon as possible. Purchasers of the event can either request an immediate refund or wait until a determination is made regarding the availability of a high quality master video. TO REQUEST A REFUND, please see your order confirmation email from Google Checkout rather than using "Contact Us" on this site.

What a show. Amazing line-up. It was like a who's who of Muay Thai. Its a pity Liam didn't make weight he was drained going into the fight he lost too much too quick and wasn't as sharp as he should have been. 61.5 is too light for him now and its time to step up a weight class. He was really skinny at the weigh in and couldn't have done any more. Anyone who knows me will know that if I was in any way unhappy that Liam had been lazy and not tried to make the weight that I would be making my feelings known! He has been in Jamaica for the best part of a week and hardly eaten a thing and lived in a sweat suit. Last 2 weeks he was doing 10 rounds every day with me, 5 with one of the other guys and runninbg every day plus clinch and sparring. He has given everything to the fight so I'm really proud of him.

Anuwats power is amazing I was wincing from the 1st low kick. He had Liam on the back foot from the word go. The first kick hurt him and did some damage which affected him for the rest of the fight. Liam did what he could and had to trade with Anuwat. He has ridiculous power much more than he looks like he should do. He said that Liam was the toughest foreiger he's ever fought and that he rattled him twice and that once he nearly went. The power of the low kicks eventually took their toll and Liam has a badly damaged knee he can hardly walk. He fought like a warrior and will be back. At this level fighters win and lose all the time so no problem upward and onward it will make him a better fighter.

It was great to catch up with some old friends and meet new ones - well done to Julie and Nathan. Julie was great against Angela Parr who gave her a good fight but Julie just had too much in every department. Great people and a fantastic fighter we shoukd all be proud of her. She's very nice and very humble and a lovely person - thanks for the help and loan of gear until I got my bag back. They lost it on the flight and it was delivered to the show 30mins before the fight with all the corner gear!

Thanks to Clifton and Jodie Brown for all their help - Clifton was awesome against Kaoklai it was a brutal fight.

yes i was a bit out of line in what i said about liam... yes he is a good fighter and takes on any one that takes a big heart... but i was realy pissed of when i herd he was over weight at weigh in. being over weight for such a big fight there should be NO excuse for it...

been at tony myers's seminar all day today at GFC so havent had a chance to comment, spoke to liam by text and told him my thoughts. Theres not many people who can fight at this level, and win most and lose only some and to be honest he's won more than he's lost eh and at the top level?. Come back stronger than ever cos everyone loves ya! Come on next weekends disgraceful antics x

Another Belt for the super hot fox ! well done.

As for Liam , The bar is set so high and you have cleared so many . This was just one knock ,I am sure you will clear it next time and go on to raise the level and expectation of Muay Thai in the UK once again.IMHO

DONT FEED THE TROLLS
Mr Smith
Posted: 2009-06-27 16:10:25
As a matter of fact I agree with Lance. Coming in overweight for a fight especially at this level is unprofessional and there is no excuse for it. Unfortunately this time Liam did his absolute best bUt just couldn't manage it. No-one was more gutted than Liam and his efforts to make the weight and honour his commitment to this fight drained him to the extent that they affected his performance.

This title was taken away from him very unfairly by the WMC in the first place as despite winning it fair and square he was never recognised publically as champion and winning it back was really important to us so Liam gave it his all in both training, making weight and the fight itself. Unfortunately this time he failed in 2 out of 3 and I was there to see how gutted he is.

This will only make him stronger and more determined for next time. So thanks for pointing it out Lance but there was really mo need.

"what no kill ya, makes ya stronger" as they say in jamaica!

That Mr Liam is a strong lad, and a Leeds UK lad, we all know he did his best, more than the best!

Mr Liam you will always be a winner and keep getting stronger, no one can win everything otherwise there would be no winners.

Mr Liam has become a true "Thai Warrior", he's in there fighting them.

As for Mr Smith, if the UK needed to nominated a 'Thai Master' then Mr Richard Smith gets 'our' vote!

Well done to the whole of the Babcompany Team, a team that started in Leeds UK and went around the world to fight, thats winning alright.

Bravo.

liam no need to appologise. representing UK muay thai at the highest level is priceless, well done, competing at the highest level is nothing to be sorry for a defeat or a win doesnt matter. Anyone would be proud of the opportunity alone!

Liam is loved, respected and in my eyes the best we have produced, plus Badco are the gym in UK,simple argue with the results you can,t,am not an arse kisser its fact,he will be better and learn he is 23 and what top Thai fighter has not been stopped, yes he never made the weight so...it happens alot,Lance my guess is you,ll be a no name and shall always remain a no name xxxxx
Liams got a great team and a nice family behind him he,ll be a legend in our sport,i remember Thais just turning up and they,d win in UK and Holland now the likes of Liam,Andy,Dicks etc are beating them at the game that they made their own,to stab them in the back is cowardly and unjust,we want this to get bigger then either we salute the ones who do well or snigger behind a pc under false names thats the choice we have, with likes of Tony myers,P4tv and new promoters like Darren morris etc it stands a better time than ever, but the people make not the sly typists that kick others when they are down, sorry if i ranted on x

We've got fighters in the USA and trainers that pay homage to Liam and could only hope to earn a fraction of the Bad Company achievements someday. In other words, it's a camp to emulate on many levels. Focus on doing your own thing, Liam, and anyone who knows you knows you are your harshest critic. Probably beat yourself up over this for a few days now, but come October 10th, don't even think anyone would bet against you for a second go. Keep inspiring the rest of us, champ!

Congratulations to Julie Kitchen (and Nathan!). Brilliant performance, so effective in the clinch! Do you know who the referee for your bout was by chance? And did anyone think the clinch was ended rather prematurely throughout the fight?
Colin.H
Posted: 2009-06-28 14:00:32
What clinch? He broke the fight up every time they came together. What made it more frustrating was that Angie Parr didn't want to step into range and Julie Kitchen was having to lunge into range to get anything off. The clinch was the perfect answer but the referee wouldn't let it happen.

Again,

A big congrats goes out to Kru Clifton Brown for everything he did for this event. Promoting, matchmaking, organizing hotels, cutting weight and making a comeback that made all Canadians proud after that 2nd round.

Against all odds Cippy.

You did it.

just got back today as the jamaicans tried to recruit us for the next series of banged up abroad!!
well done to clifton, the fights were superb and the stress must have been unbelievable.to come back from a knockdown and being totally out your feet just shows what kind of guy you are-awesome.
well proud of julie,7th world title and against a woman that has established herself against some of the best fighters in the world.it means a lot to me that the commentator announced her as "the female uk superstar of thaiboxing"
i feel that julie won every round comfortably, but angie was sooo tough and kept coming, obviously the commentators thought different to me,but as i have often said before i am not a judge!angie and jwp are a great couple with diamonds for kids.i think a rematch will arranged soon and it will be another great fight.
i am also glad that the rules were ammended to 5x3 instead of 5x2.muaythai isnt wimbeldon-world class females do not need easier options imo.

travelling with bad co was always going to be an honour, but it was also hilarious.this was the first time i have seen liam fight and even though he was dissapointed-i wasnt.if his fight had it gone the distance,it would have been the best fight i have seen, hearing the shots live leaves nothing to the imagination of how hard both liam and anuwat was hitting-totally scandalous, boss hog, water sliding, bare back dolphin riding shots.i would not want to his next victim.
Mr Smith

It was great meeting you guys too.

I thought julie was amazing, she looked really different for some reason, not sure what it was-maybe confidence (not that she wasnt confident before) but she was really on form. her clinch (well what we got to see of it before the ref broke it) was excellent, i like the way she throws the cross but steps through and gets the clinch on the side of the neck, so effective, Angie couldnt get her head up but the ref kept braking it before Julies knee got to Angies head!!!! i loved how she wasnt holding back with the elbows too. brilliant fight, really enjoyed it, well done Julie.
Liam will be back and the rematch different story x

poor commentry and officials in some parts let the show down. liam has never ducked anyone and is one of the lads loves a beer and a laugh between fights, i know he can knuckle down and make that weight with the right offers, rather come in a bit heavy than be a pint dodging fudge packer all day long. ill still have decent money on liam beating him in rematch
JD
Posted: 2009-07-06 04:20:29
What weight would a rematch be at though if Liam can't make 61? would be a massive weight advantage
