I think they originally were all b class, with an option by mutual consent if vacant to be A class, but the winners had option to defend it as A class, setting up precedent that any subsequent challenge would be A class...bit garbled, but i think that's the case...or are we just making it up as we go along? ;-)
The ukmf scottish titles are all b class, which is going to be a bit weird for the scottish lads holding A class scottish to drop down a gear to have a pop at them. Interesting.
Anyways, back on topic, good luck to Adrian tonight, weighed in at a sleek 70kg last night...

Many thanks to one and all who came along and supported the show it was a great night and I am most grateful to Caledonian Wossobama Bad Boy Sit Ayuthaya Carnage M-Mag Base Beastmasters Colloseum and GTBA Muay thai gyms for putting their fighters on our show.

A huge thank you to young Scott Allen from the Rivals gym who came to my house to deliver trophies and agreed to fight Stevie Lochead with literally 8 hours notice and having never before fought a Muay Thai fighter, cant praise young Scot highly enough and I hope to have him on future shows!!

Finally before the beers kick in I`d like to say thanks to the legend that is Richard Cadden for fighting our Lloyd. It was great to have him on our show an absolute gentleman a great fighter and a great role model!!

Lloyd won fair and square and good luck to him but the crowd were an absolute disgrace booing him and swearing and shouting abuse at him and us. Booing his ram muay singing what the f@@k is that. Thought we had left that all behind up here years ago, clearly not. And in between rounds when Rich was sat on his stool idiots shouting yet more abuse and all sorts, I was embarassed to be from this country, disgusting behaviour.

Thanks for having me on the show. Well done to Adam Srika and Colin Anderson. Thought Colin was unlucky not to get the decision, it was a good close fight.

Also, I agree with Briancal, thought the crowd booing Rich and his Ram Muay was poor. Never like to see a fighter get booed.

@ Briancal, fair point about the Ram Muay pretty shocking to be honest, but in my eyes its a spectator sport ,

Therefore it is mostly made up with people who want to see there favourite fighter/s or friends/family, but at the end of the day , If the crowd want to boo the guy , they have paid the money , so wire in.

I dont condone it and was not part of it ,it happens in mma/boxing and every other sport to be honest so why not muay thai. Its not nice , but im sure some fighters thrive on it and some let it get to them , which is the whole point of doing it anyway .
Briancal
Posted: 2010-08-29 18:29:08
Nope am not having any of that, Lioyd must have a massive family because the whole arena booed Rich. You say they paid there money so wire in ?? does that include shouting and swearing and giving the finger to the corner at every chance you get. And adults both men and women swearing and giving the finger to a 12 year old girl because she was sitting with someone who was coming over to Rich's corner and giving him advice ?? It was disgusting and totally out of order, dont care what you say it was shocking.

phil296em never heard as much shite in my life, i have never boo'ed any fighter or would i, they get in there to fight and the crowd should have the respect for that. you clearly think it was apropriate.

To be fair, I was boo'ing at the first Thai Boxing show I ever went to. It was a 'Fighting Fit' show in Fife about seven years ago and someone from my club was fighting on it. When his opponent came out I started boo'ing and someone from the club told me not to, that we don't do that and I haven't done it since.

With someone like Lloyd (who is a BIG ticket seller), naturally you're going to get people there who aren't really fans of the sport and aren't aware of what we (the people inside the sport) have decided is protocol.

I don't want to open a can of worms here but Phil296em does make a good point. It's standard procedure in Pro Boxing and Pro MMA both of which are more commercially succesful than Muay Thai. From time to time, I do wonder if Muay Thai would be more commercially succesful if there was more of the pantomime stuff, the boos, the trash talk etc, the pre fight build up etc.

To be fair, this is probably a subject for a different thread.

Back on topic,
I thought MTB1 on Saturday was a good event that was extremely well executed.
No-one is going to claim that it was the best fight card of the year but...as the promoters have said, they wanted to deliver a good, entertaining show that is something they can build on.

It started pretty much bang on time and finished just after 11, for thirteen fights including 1 x A Class, 3 x B Class with very few stoppages that really is good going.

So when is MTB2? Lol

Basically Dougie put accross sort of what i meant he just worded it better , about people not really being Muay Thai fans, and dont know much about it , I never meant to offend anyone with my above post , as said I could have worded it better.

And I dont and never will agree with anyone giving the finger to the corner and a 12 year old kid. There is no place for it.

totally agree with what has been said about the crowd, the booing, abuse and general behaviour was the worst i have ever seen at a show, i expected a little to be honest but that was too much...........thought big dougie did an excellent job in trying to calm it down by reminding the crowd about the respect that is shown between fighters in our sport but they re is only so much you can say when they re lucky if they have 4 brain cells between them......the word inbreeding springs to mind!!

lloyd won fair and square and we knew he had at the final bell although it was a little weird that one of the judges has trained with him for about 8 years??
Loyd is one tough fit guy and recoverd brilliantly from the 8 count so well done to him, not trying to take anything away from his victory but just think the crowd situation needs brought up and hopefully doesnt happn again.

On a lighter note it was briliant at the end when cadden started doing press ups and lloyd fired back with one handed ones and jumping ones lol

Ok so here we go, i apologise in advance for this.

First up thanks to John and Bobby for having us up for the show, but a few things have really annoyed me this weekend, (none of which is due to John or Bobby i might add)

So on the way up Cadden gets a phone call at 4.45 asking if Lloyd can weigh in then, and Guy Ramsey will witness? (We said no anyway cause we wanted to make sure both guy's weigh in same time same weight etc, only proffesional that way) the thing is the weigh in wasnt even meant to be until 6.30?

Then we get a couple of phone calls off friends that we was arranging to meet up with who train at the grip and inform us that Guy was teaching at Cale uni from 4-6 and then going to the griphouse? Therefore how can he witness a weigh in? Its not exactly the way to build a TRUSTING working relationship....

Then we get to weigh in at 7ish and Lloyd comes in, in a full sweat suit i might add therefore wasnt on weight at 4.45 when we recieved the call at all....

Now this is not an attack on Lloyd at all so dont get this mixed up people, i just cant stand people lying about stuff like this, its a fucking discrace tbh, and its things like this that make you not want to take your fighters, and its just so unproffesional. I cant even believe it happened when im freinds with Guy for a start so he would tell me, not to mention Davy used to be his fighter? Was just a blatant lie to let him weigh in before Rich and without witnessing it, total joke.

And the crowd? you expect it to be hostil when you fight away from home but the bollocks that people where coming out with was discusting and as said earlier there was a load of kids about, (great advert for them nice 1) I love coming up to the shows up there and always support Guys shows and corner Jordan Calder, and always support Gary obrien with the POS shows whether or not we have anyone on, just cause i enjoy it up there, have lots of good friends there and the shows are usually always good and a great bunch of people. Unfortunatley that cant be said for this 1, Oh and there was someone helping out who needed a sreious fucking attitude adjustment, and everyone who was there and had a fighter on knows just who he is, clearly never seen a day of training in our sport so dont try tell any of us what to do or be a rude ignorant mess either.

On a lighter note now the rants done, Congrats to John and Bobby was a good show crowd aside, and congrats to Lloyd who as already stated did win the fight fair and square and unlike his fans was a goos sport afterwards etc. Well done Lloyd look forward to see who's next now.

Posted: 2010-08-30 10:22:20
the booing was terrible and pretty embarrassing, but tbf it was billed as an England v Scotland match, with the good guy/bad guy atmosphere to it that accompanies such events. The rivalry maybe doesnt even register down south but its still a big deal up here.

Whilst not really a great (or even good) excuse, passions were bound to overspill...especially with the booze flowing. As has been said, a lot of the crowd were just there to see Lloyd beat Rich, not to appreciate the finer points of the noble art of Muay Thai.

anyway...im pretty sure both fighters got big cheers at the end, especially with the gymnastic theatrics.

Obviously there's a big difference between good natured heckling and plain old abuse, but I dont think its fair to let a few hostile, nasty idiots give the impression that the entire crowd was just a bunch of spiteful ****holes.
john_o_brien

I would never ever cheat at a weigh-in and you can ask anybody who knows me its not the way I do things and neither would LLoyd for that matter!!!
AndyBC
Posted: 2010-08-30 11:51:17
cmartin22 understand what your getting at but how many England vs Scotland fights have you seen? Cause ive seen literally hundreds id bet, they happen up and down the country each and every weekend but never have i ever seen a crowd so bad, rude, uneducated and just down right discusting.

While he was doing his ram muay we had all the tables at the side of us shouting all sorts, standing up sticking fingers up at him and giving him the wanker sign, it was fucking discusting, and even after we got out and was walking back to the changing rooms we had people shouting abuse at him and sticking 2's up at him so now tell me thats acceptable? it isnt, and he's a better man than me is Rich cause i aint paid enough to fight to put up with shit from a bunch of drunken fools who no nothing about the sport that weve put so much of our life and decication into, believe me mid ream muay i was getting the shit he was id have got out the ring, demanded my wage and fucked off home simple as that. It was a discrace to Thai boxing and needs sorting.

The simple fact is this, the last 2 POS shows have had trouble at that venue (gary i apologise for bringing your show up as it is not a dig what so ever, pos is a great show im just talking about the general public mate) and now all that bullshit on sat night. And like it or not it is all due to drinking and the fact that 90% of the crowd couild barely stand. We all like a drink at a show, im the same if im not in training for a fight ill have a few drinks but i dont stand there booing and starting on the fighters, neither do any of the people i no that go to shows full stop. Its pathetic, if you cant handle it dont fucking drink end of.

Im really annoyed about the whole thing and the more i think about it the worse it gets, ill be speaking to Richard when he's back cause i wouldnt ever want to fight in that atmos and dont really want any of our guys to have to cause its just not worth all your hard work.

Massive thanks to John O'Brien for having me on the show, and to Lloyd for the fight.

As for the crowd. In my 58f I have never fought in front of such a hostile partisan crowd. Some of the people were just plainly bang out of order. I got sprayed with beer as I walked to the entrance run-way, and I dismissed that as a sole drunken fool. Then once I stood on the run way, pretty much everyone in the audience boo'd, gave me two-fingers and so much verbal abuse throughout the fight, it was disgusting.
Some friends who were there were actually concerned for their welfare at merely cheering me.
Its a shame that these people spoil these events.

John not once have i stated you or Lloyd did cheat, re read my post its quite clear that i say YOU and bobby where not involved. Your people dealing with the weigh in however that is a different matter, we got the phone call, guy knew nothing about it that is fact enough. As i said not you or bobby and was not about your show. Just a plain simple fact that you need to take up with whoever it was that we weighed in with. Regardless it was unproffesional mate and i stand by that as it is quite clear cut. You cant have someone call stating such things as someone over seeing a weigh in, almost 2 hours before the actual weigh in time and then speak to the person they say they had to over see it and he has no idea what your talking about, the facts are there and thats how it is sorry but the facts speak for themselves in this 1.

Anyway thats neither here nor there people can make there own opinions on it im really not at all bothered as i no the truth of the matter and thats all that counts. Was a good entertaining show Rich and Lloyds was good and the crowd was a bunch of well just nobody animals really, it was pathetic. A 2 time world champion, former uk num 1 for 6 years maybe more made to look and feel stupid by a bunchg of drunken lowts/dickheads who have no clue as to who he even is, what he has attchieved or anything else, your crowd like it or not was a total discrace to the sport and i havent seen anything even close to that in the almost 13years i have been training and fighting. Awful to see and awful to be involved in and thats just how it is.
