Topic:Haye To Face Harrison
Posted: 2010-09-07 06:50:48,19528,11067_6363080,00.html

David Haye will defend his World Heavyweight title against bitter rival Audley Harrison live on Sky Box Office HD.

The WBA champion has confirmed that he will make a voluntary defence of his belt at the MEN Arena, Manchester, on Saturday, November 13.

It will mean renewing rivalries with one-time friend Harrison, who has spent the last six months calling the Hayemaker out.

Harrison is number 13 in the WBA's rankings but has jumped the queue on the back of his sensational European title win, in which he knocked Michael Sprott out in the final round.

Even before that, the 2000 Olympic gold medallist has been chasing a domestic showdown with Haye, the pair having fallen out several years ago after a row over undercards.

Harrison says he let Haye fight on one of his, only to see the compliment go unreturned - and has let the world know exactly what he thinks.

The bitter fall-out will add fuel to the fire ahead of a landmark clash for British boxing

"At one stage I had a lot of respect for Audley, but over the years that respect has turned to disdain," said Haye.

"It's now time for me to go out there and close the Audley Harrison show once and for all. Audley's a big name, but he's known as a boxer that people want to see get destroyed. The public want to see one final high-profile destruction of Audley Harrison, and I'm only too happy to do my duty for the British people."

Harrison, said: "David Haye and the boxing world will be in for a shock on November 13. I told Sky Sports in 2009, that destiny would bring me and David in the ring together. Haye rubbished it and so did the boxing world.

"I've said it many times that I will be a world champion before I retire and now I get the chance to fulfil my destiny in boxing. So go ahead, write me off but I can't wait for the day when A Force Harrison, destroys Mr Haye. Yes I can."

This will be the first time in 17 years that two Britons have contested the world heavyweight title. Back in 1993 Lennox Lewis successfully defended his WBC strap against Frank Bruno at Cardiff Arms Park in Wales.

This will be Haye's second defence of the belt he won against Nikolai Valuev a year ago, following his impressive nine-round destruction of John Ruiz in April.

It means a unification showdown with either WBO and IBF king Wladimir Klitschko or his brother and WBC boss Vitali will have to wait until 2011 at the earliest.

Fraudley is the best businessman in the history of boxing.

Million pound contract with BBC to fight a load of bums, who's jobs included a butcher, doorman, private investigator, stuntman, mechanic.
Performances so shit that BBC sacked off it's entire boxing programming for good.

yet still able to sell a fight and get a payday. Amazing.

as pathetic as it is, i'll actually look forward to this fight, there's loads of bad blood and history at least, Haye as a cruiserweight battered Harrison all over in sparring one time years ago in front of Lennox Lewis.

gotta bet on Haye to spark him but it would be hilarious if A-Farce levelled him with a massive left hand like he did to Sprott. Then he would go on to hammer both Klitschko's and dominate the heavyweight division until he was 60 years old while Haye loses all his cash and has to get a job as a butcher in Castleford
Posted: 2010-09-07 11:48:22
agree pal, if audley could fight aswell as he can talk hed have been undisputed champ years ago.

haye also got sparked by kali meehan once in sparring and then sacked him straight away. 2 sides to every coin.

AH is the worst boxer of modern times. I genuinely believed he would go on to big things on the back of his Olympic Gold. Boy, how wrong was I !!!!!
As per comments above, I will only watch this to see what round Haye finishes him off in .... 6th or 7th in my reckoning.

Hawkman lol legend :-)
Posted: 2010-09-07 15:03:41
Paul-in-T .... with heavyweights there's always the chance of that big punch landing, (just look at Bruno-Tyson), but its whether they have the instinct to capitalise on the moment.
I hope it doesn't happen for AH as I think there's more mileage, and without a doubt more heart, with Haye.
I dont think the heavyweight division has been at all interesting since Lewis and Hollyfield (at their best )fell off the scene. Barring the obvious top name heavyweights, I've always preferred watching the lower weights fight anyhow. My all-time favourite domestic fighter being Nigel Benn, closely followed by Hatton, both of whom I've had the privelege of meeting. Yes, they both have losses and haven't fully done 'A Calzaghe', but there's no questioning their heart.
PS .... Hatton is one of the funniest men i've ever met. What a down to earth geezer he really is. Couldn't believe Benn is now a preacher living in Majorca, nearly walked right past him as he is bald-headed and not as I imagined him to be. Lvely bloke though.
Posted: 2010-09-07 15:12:08
Audley is an absolute legend................... as shit boxers go. However if he ko'ed haye I would laugh my ass off. The heavy weight division is terrible.

lol ace posts xx

Look at Haye's latest press release. and i qyote...." Its going to be as 1 sided as gang rape" LOL i actually just spat my coffee out when i saw that, love it and hope he smases fraudleys shit face in.
Posted: 2010-09-08 03:27:41
haye is the biggest prick going taking this fight and making out like he has to do it to defend his title what a joke he is really fuking his fans over now he is purely there for the money and is shit scared of klitschkos who will inevitibly spread him out in about 8 rounds.

haye's great claim was "im gonna liven up the division" lmao what a joke he hasnt fought one top heavyweight yet and i doubt he will i would like to sam peter fight him i think he would demolish him .

Posted: 2010-09-08 03:33:38
We`ve seen before that Haye gets a bit giddy and lets his guard down, not beyond the realms of possibility that AH could land a spawny windmill left on his chin.

I`d quite like to see Haye as a butcher in Castleford, I`d probably go get a sausage roll and stuff quite often.
Posted: 2010-09-08 03:34:34
That gang rape comment is probably the best bit of press conference speak ever.

Cant believe it is on Box Office, are the British public really that bothered about this one?

No way I`m going to shell out for it.
Posted: 2010-09-09 11:40:16
Phil .... can't remember the last time I forked out for a box-office fight. I watch them on SOPCAST. There's a quick download required (thats safe), and you can then watch most sports from around the globe.
I will, being a glutton for punishment, probably watch it on Sopcast, then totally regret wasting my time shortly after. :-)

I`ll give that go mate, thanks.

I use justin, sportzpalz, and iraqgoals for stuff usually, but never too sure of the safety if those sites, especially iraq.

im backing harrison in this, he's the underdog but haye's a cock, all his talk abouut the klits & cleaning up all challengers, all he's doing is fighting old men..valuev, barrett, ruiz & now harrison, fair enough the talents not as thick in the division but compared to klits oppponents haye's taken an easy path..i hope he gets laid out on the canvas, the guy's took the british public for mugs & continues to do so lol talking about getting 100's-1000's of emails each week about fighting harrison lol what a crock of shit the guy should have been fighting the klits, that's what the fans, writers, pundits & critics want & at end of the day haye doesn't deserve 50-50 fighting the real champs so he's used that as an excuse to avoid the fight

i know its unlikely but like keegan i'd love it just love it if audley beat him lol
Posted: 2010-10-07 02:54:40
Anyone know the undercard ?
Posted: 2010-10-07 07:54:37
I gonna bet on Harrison too x
Posted: 2010-10-09 11:27:02
audley harrison will get fookin destroyed the useless twxt he is.I remember as a young lad staying up all night to watch the likes of bruno, tyson, eubank etc... what has happened to british boxing? fookin shower of shit.
Posted: 2010-10-09 11:28:07
snail.. they are the undercard.
Posted: 2010-11-02 07:31:46
Haye is lucky it's not liam Harrison he is fighting!
Posted: 2010-11-02 09:38:22
eh..... what?
Posted: 2010-11-02 17:31:18
Soldier, spot on. Last fight I stayed up for was Hatton v Mayweather, fook staying up, never mind paying, to see Khan etc.

British boxing is very quickly going to need a new star coming through or it is going to die a painful death.
Posted: 2010-11-03 16:09:31
What is everyones problem with Khan????? he got decked once? so what, he tried to get up and keep fighting, he then sort out best trainer in world to try to prevent it happening again, everyone is beatable and everyone can be knocked out. He is fantastically skilled and is one of the hottest prospects out there...and he's British, and a muslim to boot and we all know how sport helps break down racial barriers faster than anything else.... so why is he so unpopular... especially seems to be more from the northern areas? is there a reason why?
Posted: 2010-11-04 05:50:04
a muslim to boot????? dnt know how to take that muaythaimatt. sounds racial??? i think people dnt like him because hes not fought anyone, apart from an 86 yr old barrera. same with harrison fought nobodys. people want to see wars not shit fights earn the publics support gota be in with the best every fight.
Posted: 2010-11-04 07:21:37
Thats exactly it Soldier.

Used to be that you saw highlights of up and comers like Benn and Eubank on Sportsnight and Midweek Sports Special, when they were fighting in front of 200 people on a Tuesday night.

You then started to follow their career and their results from the titbits that were shown, until they finally made it big, and you really had an affinity with them at that point.

Now someone in their first Pro fight has a fooking live show on Sky put on for them, it`s just shit to be honest.

Posted: 2010-11-04 09:21:56
i think your right phil we def need some1 to put the excitement into british boxing.. it says a lot when u gt heavyweights like harrison n skelton.(may have retired bt just n example. id bring lennox lewis back n would still beat any of our so-called top heavyweights. even maybe bruno in his fairy suit lol

Posted: 2010-11-04 11:21:10
I agree there's no 1 big star since hatton really but I think its harsh to say its shit lol. There's lots of talent coming through and shows like the magnificent 7 mean u don't need 1 big star. that said I think nathan cleverly will become 1 on the back of his performance on that bill. But as a whole british boxing is booming in my opinion. Carl Froch shud b massive but been unlucky with tv n stuff but he's never in a dull fite, amir khan, love him or hate him, is fightin a gud fighter finally and promising to unify after, (if he wins) in the next month 3 british heavyweights r taking part in 'world' heavyweight title contests, then uve got the likes of kell brook, george groves and many others heading the nxt generation. I evn think the domestic british heavyweight scene is the healthiest its been in years.

The problem is almost all the above r only known to hardcore fans, sky is doing gud things moving to saturday fight night and bringing back ringside but at 60 quid a month not evry1 has sky. The press only print david haye n amir khan fights and that's ware the problem lies. There's talent there and exciting fights to b had but the average joe in the street don't no them
Posted: 2010-11-04 17:20:58
I meant it`s just shit the way it has all turned out nowadays. Everything is just thrust into your face from day 1, no excitement or intrigue there.

Maybe it`s just me getting older and turning into a grumpy old man and wishing for the 'good old days'!

Bruno in his fairy suit, mashed out of his head, and sleeping under the ring after the fight. It`s TV gold.

Haha I no wot ya mean like, tony jeffries topping the bill up here in his 2nd n 3rd pro fite n I think that's y he didn't progress the way he shud of coz he was gettin attention like he was already a champ. There was a pay per view bill last year that showed warrens 3 olympians and didn't show enzo mac or kell brooks fights which annoyed me so I no wot u mean they're tryin to make them instant stars n it doesn't wrk that way. They shud b on undercards learnin their trade but this is the way it is now. Degale's a household name coz of the olympics so gets more exposure than any1 lol

Haha I don't think it'l b exciting but lots of ppl will b watching. I think it'l b a blow out by haye within 2 rounds but I'll b tuning in just incase audleys grown a pair ...
Posted: 2010-11-05 14:01:41
Audley's punched are quite messy and although he has a fair few ko's to his name, i doubt he'll do anything with Haye unless it's a lucky one... I see Haye winning by KO in round 5.
Posted: 2010-11-05 15:43:25
actiually cant wait for this, biggest domestic fight i can remember in a long time even though its been overhyped to fuck, just prayin that the occasion fires audley up and doesnt overwhelm him. despite all hes done i think hayes got on a few peoples wick in last 12 months and wouldnt mind seein him fast asleep in the middle of the ring next week

as for no stars in british boxing, do me a favour, theyre all over the place! not hatton or calzaghe level but give it time. we could have 4 world champions come the end of this month, i dont recon thats bad
Posted: 2010-11-05 15:49:41

would any of these have beat lewis? if same weight???
Posted: 2010-11-05 18:31:32
Mdk, you obviously see 'stars' at a different level to me then.

Above average yes but thats about as far as it goes.
Posted: 2010-11-07 08:52:56
Not sure how that comment can be construed as racist??? but if it did then I apologise as it certainly wasn't meant to be. What I meant was that Khan is both British but also a muslim and proud of both, and therefore an excellent vehicle for breaking down racial barriers. Look at football and the racism towards black players that occured in the 70's and 80's... now young kids wear shirts with the names of black players as their colour doesn't matter, they are a player for x,y or z club and that's all the kids care about. Racism still exists in Spain and Italy toward black players and it disgusts the average British fan... sport does more to unite people than any politicain ever could.
Fighters also have managers and back room staff who pick and plot their career path carefully... it's how they make their money!! they determine when a fighter is ready for such and such an opponent. Build a fighter up, give him steadily increasing tests, build up his profile and then when thats at a peak you can start to make the mega money fights.
Posted: 2010-11-08 05:40:32
Ha, I see why now... when I said to boot you thought I meant to kick!! ha, simple misinterpretation I meant to boot as in as well... therefore he's British and a Muslim to boot means he's British and a muslim as well... hope that clears any confusion!
Posted: 2010-11-10 02:11:16
anyone know the undercard ?
Posted: 2010-11-10 04:24:26
Neither Harrison or Haye would've stood a chance against Lewis or others around that time.
Posted: 2010-11-10 07:55:43
a muslim to boot????? dnt know how to take that muaythaimatt. sounds racial???

That cracked me up!!!
Posted: 2010-11-10 12:39:11
snail, george groves is chief support mate, commonwealth title, dunno the rest

Posted: 2010-11-11 13:28:36
cnt see harrison lasting 4rounds. nt because haye so good but because harrison not worth a wxnk. british boxing shit. only way harrison will become a world champ is if he fights a flyweight..
Please retire.

I hate to admit it, but Harrision is a GREAT sales men. Everytime I watch an interview, he starts to convice me that he might just pull it off!!!! :-(

Like it or lump it, it is a big domestic fight (& for a world Title)..... as there isnt many others.

Dale under card is

George groves vs kenny anderson
Stuart hall vs gary davies (british bantam title)
Enad Licina vs Felix Cora jnr (I hav no idea who they r, ibf cruiser title eliminator, must b summat to do with haye's ties to golden boy)
Mark heffron vs Chris O'brien
Colin Kenna vs Edmund Gerber.

I'd imagine they'l add a few more but that's all I cud find. Pretty poor imo.

Haye within 2 rounds I think. Its sky's excellent programmes havin evry1 believe audley has a chance as they hav it on ppv lol. I'm not buyin in2 that but I'll still b watchin :D

I can honestly say I've never heard of felix cora jnr but thanx anyway. Undercard is pretty poor but I like george groves and plenty pubs wil hav it on so I can watch it free haha. Jus watched the weigh in on sky n audley looked tense and walked away from his interview with ed robsinson. Further evidence to suggest he's gonna freeze like always. The fella's deluded like. Haye will annihilate him :D

Damn and blast !!! I said I'd never 'pay-per-view' to watch Harrison fight. Only gone and bloody booked it at £15.

Ah well, few beers with my son watching Britains finest ( the undercard) with a take-a-way. I've had rougher days.
