Hi everyone!

I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone that helped myself and Gary with the show.
As everyone saw who was there, we went for a much bigger venue this time, and it backfired a bit!! Thank God for sponsors!!!!!

Well done to BOTH Adam and Imran who fought a very hard fight. I actually scored it a draw, but everyone agreed it was such a close fight, picking a winner was hard. Although it is congratulations to Adam, I feel it was very hard luck on Imran. I don't think either of them deserved to lose. I think a rematch has to happen!!!!

Great fight between Simon Dimitri and Chris Ballard!! Both their original opponents had pulled out, so Simon agreed to fight Full Contact rules.
Chris hit Simon with the first punch he through and it looked all over, with Simon looking like he was never going to recover, but not only did he get over the terrible start, he then put Chris down in the 2nd, and won on points.
Roll on Turner Vs Dimitri!!!!

As for the Woking guys!
Sheree Halliday lost a points decision against Candy Berry from Northern Spirit. This was a novice bout, although Candy had had 2 fights but was giving away 4 kilos.

Brett Trefry knocked out Andy Morris from Bolton in the 3rd round with a perfect right hand. The fight was very close in the first 2 rounds.
Thanks again Sandy for bringing Andy down (Oh and while I think about it, I think I know who nicked your pads!!! I'll tell you on the phone!)

Well done to all the fighters, and I'll try and get all the results posted as soon as my brain has recovered!!

Many thanks to Shaun and Sandy for the commentating, I can't wait to hear it! And for Kieran for stepping in when Sandy was cornering.

Now..... I've said my piece!!! Hit me with the critism!! Constructed of course!!!

I must take issue with you when you say" everyone agreed and it was hard to pick a winner"all of the trainers including Pele ,Mr harding, and the ringside commentators Sandy and Saun that I spoke to gave Imran the fight because Imran`s tactics of clinching and Kneeing were very effective in neutralsing adams boxing skills. With the exception of round three where Adam landed a very good right cross giving Imran a eight count . The only explanation I can think of is that the judges (well at least two ,because there was a big discrepance in the scoring)did not score knees ,perhaps they are from a a kickboxing background.Imran followed his game plan to the letter and feels very hard done bye It was not a pretty fight but a effective one. Dose The I.S.K.A (the sanctioning body)score effective use of the knee in Thai boxing?I do not feel it was a case of Adam giving a poor performance he is with out doubt one of the most talented youngsters in the country it was a case of Imran using tactics in his fight plan to secure a victory.I just did not allow for the fact that Knees where not a scoring weapon in this contest.

Not that i need to say this to you, you have spent so long in kickboxing, but...
It is often the case that there is no directive from the sanctioning body as to scoring systems. The promoter just pays their money and you have a sanction.
If judge a, b, and c were to score this fight and then were judging at 'muaythai titles r us' sanctioned show, they would have read it the same way... probably.
I didn't see the fight (but these scenario's make me want to so i can see how i would have scored it) but it's usually the judges and not the sanction.
What was the discrepancy in the scoring?

"Sorry Dave.... We were going to have a bar in the hall, but they decided that "our sort of crowd" might be a problem!! "

How can people's perceptions be changed about this - I reckon there would have been problems had it been a Rugby Club dinner or something, but of course cos we do Muay Thai we are all psychopaths.

Hello all,

Following on from Bill's (Judd) comments regarding the Shah v Johnson fight. I was commentating ringside and therefore judging the fight as we commentate (if you know what I mean)

Before I tell you who I think won, I would like to say this:

Adam Johnson, providing he stays with the sport, trains hard, stays disciplined, and learns from his mistakes will be a tremendous fighter and has the ability at such a young age to go all the way. Phil (Williams) has unearthed a fantastic talent. He has the ability and talent to fight anyone in this country at his weight and give it another year, match him up to the ultimate test of the Thai's (who are unquestionably the strongest race at this weight). He has an excellent amateur & adult record, a very high knockout percentage (which is quite rare at his weight) and seems like a nice kid. He wants to fight as often as possible and will fight anyone at his weight...all this and he is ONLY 16 years old!! What a great talent we have I will look forward to seeing him dominate his weight division in the coming years.

However, in my honest opinion, he did not win the fight (apologies if this upsets anyone, but it is my opinion) Shah's style and battleplan was not crowd - pleasing or stylish, but he cut down the space and worked very hard against a very dangerous and cool (too cool, for my liking) opponent. When Johnson got distance between himself and Shah you really could tell that Johnson was a powerful puncher with a decent right hand. However, he seldom managed to do this and I had Shah winning 4 rounds with Johnson winning the third 10-8, making Shah the overall winner. Shah, threw more kicks and knees which I always believe score more points, regardless of what organisation the fight was fought under. I can understand if people called it a draw, cos all it would take is to score one of the rounds in Johnsons favour, but to award the fight to Johnson I thought was harsh. However, I am not a judge, have never judged, and I appreciate that it can be a very difficult job and like life itself - it's all about opinions.

Johnson was never in trouble in the fight at any stage, and Shah was in trouble at the very end of the third when Johnson caught him with a tremendously quick right hand and Shah was saved by the Bell, but Shahs' tactics, heart, work rate and ability to neutralise Johnsons superior boxing techniques worked wonders.

I know Phil/Adam visit this site and I will be interested in hearing their opinions as Phil was very vocal during and after the fight.

Congratulations to Adam, I have heard that some decisions have gone against your way in recent times so maybe it's a case of 'What goes around come's around', and in this game you need to take all the luck you can get. I will definately look out for you in the future, you are definatly Britain's most exciting prospect.

As to Imran and Bill - unlucky, you fought the 'right fight' but unfortunately the judges didn't see it your way. Imran showed how clever a fighter he is, and how well he listens to his corner and showed that he is very tough, solid and determined and improves on every performance.

I know it's a cliche, but........Rematch?

I'll pay for a ticket - anyone else??

Yug.

We were really upset by there comment (at first they tried to tell us that they couldn't get a licence in time, but then I found out the truth!!)
I put forward the argument about there being more trouble at other sport events but I got lots of nods in sympathy, but nothing else!!

It's rare that you'll see too much trouble at a thai/kickboxing show although we all know it does happen. It's up to the promoters to ensure they have adequate security to deal with it if it happens.

As for Shaun..... Good comments mate, and many thanks for all your help on Saturday, even if you did have to spend the evening sparring with the Holt man!!

THE BULLDOG

TWO COMMENTS. 1st - trouble is a concern whenever different sets of fans get together in any sport, especially when there is drink. FACT: often unless they are "well oiled" and enjoying themselves the atmosphere can be a bit dead. I'm not talking about purists here, i'm talking about those who like a fight night or who have come to expereience a friend fighting. On my shows we tell all of the fighters not to sell tickets to known assholes. Our security staff are well known locally and very clued up. they know who the groups of assholes are and the assholes know that my show is not the place to be an asshole. Also, i spend money on security and always make sure that there is plenty with leaders in each group. It will never cut it out completely but it cuts down the possibility. With that said our last show was the first time in ten years that we have had some trouble. And then it was two assholes arguing about something outside of the show. They just happenned to bump into one another. It was over in 3 seconds and our security took them out quietly to be enlightened. Its the best you can do, but unfortunately normal people will always go ass tight at the prospect of a hall full of fighters.
2nd Comment: Who is the bald dwarf. name and shame him now! thieving bastard filth who steals from his fellow man.

Well zebs and Gary had a big hassle with a Instructor who was complaining to the WHOLE hall about his fighter who was unfortunatly losing and was about to be stopped ! was caught ( what looked from MY and SEAN's view point) was a low kick across the front / top of the legs ! BUT he was going down anyway from a few good punches !
THE trainer as NOW known as the:- "BALD drunk Dwarf" !
decided to tell the crowd in full view of the sky t.v. too ! to FU*K OFF !!!!!!!
the crowd BOOED him !
Not at all professional !
Then as we all went to get back to the changing rooms at the end of the fights "! MY `2` sandee thai-pads went SHAZZAM ! and dissapeared !

Nick Shephard didn't fight.
Chris Batcheldor weighed in at 91kg and he was expecting Nick to be 96/97kg. He weighed in at 109kg!! Chris felt that it was just too much weight difference and so decided that he didn't want it. It wa a shame, because I was really looking forward to the fight.

Hi Toots!! Thanks for all your help on Saturday and becoming a member of the Saunders family for a day!!!! :)

I am not getting into a slanging match with Bill!
Bill is a nice bloke and has always shown respect to me and everybody else, and incidentaly I have never had a cross word with him and dont intend to!!
However, I was happy with the descision and could quite happily sit back and keep saying "..piss off we were the winners!" But, members of the KO gym have slagged off the descision for over a week (on muaythaionline) and I have said nothing, so now with a touch of banter and no anamosity, I am giving Imran (and others) the opportunity to fix it under whatever terms they like.
Sandy Holt has already made an offer (apparently) and was declined, in private. So now seeing as so many people have had an public opinion, I am having mine.
The descision was correct but Adams performance was terrible! It was the worst performance he has ever put on and still managed to win a professional European Title at the age of 16...without spoiling a fight!
I thought Imran was a gutsy little fighter and a nice guy but had nothing to offer in terms of technique or certainly power. His tactics were good if he had some substanance in his techniques and was lucky not to get disqualified for holding the ropes!!

I presume the rematch won't happen (through no fault of my own) and now consider the matter closed.

No anamosity intended, what so ever!

Hi Philip

Thanks, appreciate your response to my question. I'm sure you will understand why I commented, Bill is my trainer and I respect him enormously. I haven't checked out MT Online for a while now, so had no idea that people have been making comments on the guestbook.

I hope that whatever people have said independently hasn't affected your relationship with Bill. Sometimes people say things before thinking about how it will sound. We all have minds and voices of our own and cannot stop people from giving their opinion sometimes the message does not across properly because discussions become heated. By 'we' I mean everyone, not just KO.

To anybody that has read through this from the beginning - go back and look at Bill's comments and then look at Phil's - its not difficult to work out why Bill hasn't responded - Bill gave a fair arguement why he felt (as a lot of people do) Imran should have won - at no point did he bad mouth Adam or Phil - in fact he praised Adams abilities - whereas Phil has tried to draw Bill into a slagging match.

I don't think anyone can accuse Bill of 'moaning'!!!

you are probably right I shouldn't have been so aggressive, however, it is not us complaining/ disagreeing with the descision! I feel that the fight was terrible and gave no justice to Adams fighting ability, Imran didn't try to fight he tried to steal, spoil and survive! Which was a good tactic but, as one judge said
"...the difference in class was obvious...and Imrans knees were impossible to score because they were just token gestures not effective techniques..."

I don't want to explain the ins and outs of a ducks arse, but we were the winners and can understand Bills points (and agree with him on most) but out of sportsmanship and decency we are offering the rematch, don't you think that is fair?

Adam is soon to move on to bigger and better things and doesn't need the fight, although, I repeat it is Imrans people complaining, moaning or disagreeing which ever terminology you wish to use is up to you, but I think the classic "put up or shut up is totally justified!!"

Yes, a lot of my comments regarding Imran were made tongue in cheek possibly to invoke a reaction which it has ie. Imran didn't win the first fight and won't take a rematch! so why carry on with the matter?

I get on with Bill fine and have no intention of falling out with him as he has no intention of letting Adam fight Imran again, fine, lets put it to bed!!

I'm letting Miniluv have the last word - because I think she speaks for a lot of people!

who gives a f**** who won that fight anyway!!!
I dont give a shit about either adam or imran!!!
theyre not my mates, neither even gave me a nod or a hello so whogives a f*** who they are!!!

Theres a lot of ncie freindly ppl in our game e.g. Gary turner, jesse saunders, toots, sandy holt, kieran keddle, shaun keddle, alex reid, simon dimitri,..etc

theres also a lot of "NOBs" who no matter how good they are,.. i dont give a f**** about,.. so no disrespect to imran and adam but who cares,.. i dont

I wasnt even watching it for a start

I hear they're really big fans of yours Farhard !
Farhad
Posted: 2002-10-15 09:43:36
Naaah man i didnt mean any disrespect by that, just that i dont know why everyone is arguing about a fight!
its only a fight isnt it?
and also the fact that i dont know those guys from adam!
if they were guys i was pals with then i would give a shit
you know whati mean?
AndyC
Posted: 2002-10-15 09:55:37
The people discussing it do "know them from Adam" and thus do give a shit!

zebedee
Posted: 2002-10-15 10:45:04
Thanks for the nice comment about me Farhad, but you seem a tad upset!!!

Like Andy said, some people do care, and this is what this discussion board is all about. There are plenty of threads that I have no interest in, and so will maybe read, but then not bother getting too involved in.

As for not knowing Adam or Imran, personally I found both fighters very friendly and respectful. Imran tends to keep himself to himself, whereas Adam showed maturity beyond his years.
I'm sure that both fighters were not being rude or ignoring you, but as I'm sure you're well aware, when you are fighting, sometimes you don't really want to chat to everyone.

:)

Posted: 2002-10-15 11:06:33
AndyC, Zebedee

I agree with both of you and couldn't put it better myself. I will make one further comment, however, and that is if Farhad could read he would see that AndyC, Paulo and I were discussing the fact that Philip was trying to egg Bill on. We weren't discussing the fight, that is in the past and the decision has been made.

No offense Farhad, as you say about us, we don't know you from Adam, but if you don't like the thread just close it, don't make nasty comments, it isn't necessary.

P.S. Zebedee, it was very nice to meet you on Sunday, sorry I didn't get the chance to say bye to you but as soon as the fights finished we all had to hop back on the minibus to get back to London. Can't believe I got all shy again as well, agh, horrible!
zebedee

You weren't shy! Although meeting Sandy does leave most people speechless!!!!

Well after the ones from my show, where I look like death warmed up, It will be nice to see one of me looking alive!

And not being funny Miniluv, but you're standing between me and Sandy!!! You are going to be the the one that looks the best.... trust me!!!
philip
Posted: 2002-10-15 12:48:03
No offence Farhad but I think you made a dick of yourself last Saturday when you did that demonstration, who gives a toss about you anyway, why don't you have a proper fight and take those pants off their so eighties!!

(thought I would throw that back at you seeing as you were being insulting directly at my fighters!) Oh I will introduce you to Adam next time we are at the same show!

Ohh, by the way there was a rumour going round Sheffield that you actually once put a cigarette out?... Is it true? ... Or was it the cat you put out?

Philip:
1. i wasnt being directly insulting towards anyone
2. i dont smoke
3. i did the demo coz i was aksed to , zebv asked me to and i did it
whats wrong with that?

Farhad
Posted: 2002-10-15 18:43:39
Also:
If i sound like i insulted either imaran or even adam then im sorry!
i didnt mean to piss anyone off

No i wasnt insulting adam directly,....i just didnt know why everyone was arguing about a decision and making a big thing about a decision , then again i didnt even see the fight!!!

so was it really worth commenting on it? like others have just said, surely if a thread doesn't interest you, then leave it be, dont add something for the sake of it. As Zebedee sasid, there are people who are interested in the thread and do want to discuss it.
Farhad

ok fair c0mment i i didnt see the fight so i shudnt have commented.
i apologise for saying what i said.

Thanks for the info. on Nick Sheppard Zebedee. I saw him on the Saturday morning and he looked his usual weight, about 95kg. He must have stopped off at the Little Chef on the way for an Olympic breakfast, Surreys a long way from Leeds you know!
zebedee
Posted: 2002-10-17 09:33:39
A 14kg breakfast!!!! Wow!!! Little chef is value for money!!!

A major dissapointment that the fight didn't happen, not only for the public, but also for the fighters.
I know that Chris was really looking forward to it, but a 18kg difference was just too much at this stage of his career. I think he made a sensible decision, but hopefully if Nick can get on the treadmill, and lose a bit of weight, they may be able to get it on in the future. :)
phil
Posted: 2002-10-17 10:22:15
Just spoke to Nicks trainer, he said they were unaware of any weight limitation with it being a heavyweight contest and Nick was just fighting at his comfortable weight and did not realise it would be a problem. Obviously just a mix up in communications whcich is a shame because I am sure it would have been entertaining. Sounds like it was a good night though, so well done Zebedee and good luck with the next one.

Wow lady boy i did'nt know you had in you to be so angry (aka Phil) just joking mate, i still need some novices for my show on the 3rd nov, so i will call you soon.

And while every one is pissed of with each other i might as well have my say.

First of all My fighter Simon Dore who i thought fought very well against Roger toon has'nt even had a mention on this link, and he is not a b class fighter as mentioned before by zebedee. I also thought his fight was the only fight worth showing on Sky !!!

That would do the sport of kickboxing any credit. and the out come was decisive.

And secondly i have supported so many promoters this year up and down the country, and when i need some support no one want's to know, so may be next year i will be very selective with who i work with, its a shame but........

Do i sound as pissed of as phil.....
zebedee
Posted: 2002-10-18 13:00:15
Sorry Jag,

Just to let you know, Sky will be showing Simons fight as you rightly said, it was a quality fight (especially the finish!!)

On the subject of promoters helping each other out! Please let us know details for your show? I've had nothing through from you, so have not known when your show is! Email me the details and I'll see if we can support you. (I'm sure you weren't having a dig at me, but in case you were, it was not intentional to not support you.)

As for the B classification...... I'll plead ignorance!!! :) (sorry!)

perhaps your problem jag
(and i'm merely speculating here, not stating either my own nor anybody elses opinion)
is that KB sucks, and everybody everywhere would rather put their fighters into MT??

;-P

Your welcome Jag,

I hope Simon doesn't mind that i call him adabeasi, it's just my wee joke, no insult intended.

Ill try my best Jag depends what im doing that day but id like to see it.
You know who i am so why didnt you say hello when i was at the show?
Now thats what i dont understand.

Anyway im actually a big fan of the heavyweights i only follow the heavyweights to be honest . Dont ask me why but i like to see the big guys throw big bombs and knock each other out. But when you see big guys being good movers and good at slipping and rolling etc or even good fast kickers then it makes you think WOW! these big fellas can kick too!

Example : Chris Ballard!!! That dude has a mean spinning kick on him and he can really hit.

Id like to see a Full contact match between Chris Ballard and Simon Dore !!!

That would be THE business!!!

McGinger morris?
hes one of Sandys isnt he?
I thought he was a nice guy to be honest, likes to have a laugh and a joke it seems.
what ahppened in his fight?
tootslek
Posted: 2002-10-19 13:08:29
he was doing really well,
till he got KO'd.

He was totally gutted after, really dissappointed in himself.
Which he shouldn't be cause it was a good fight.

He is a lovely guy,
and i hope he is feeling better about it all now.
zebedee
Posted: 2002-10-19 13:20:25
Yeah, it was a good fight. The other fighter is Brett Trefry from Woking. It was quite even, then Brett caught Andy with a very good right hand, and it was all over.
Andy is an excellent fighter, with a bright future, and yes, he is a great bloke. (and so is Brett.... Id better say that! I don't want to be hit with the same right hand!! :))

Great pics Toots, can't wait to see them all on your site.

One of Bobby Quinns (via Mr evil eyes JO'B in Jonstone)

I think he is probably too light for Andy...
What weight was McGinger vrs Brett at??
When i have some time i'll try get them together in a picture,

thanks miniluv.

I've loads more pics to follow,
but unfortunately brian's done something to my pc?
God knows what or why???

I was chatting to him the other day, and ftp'ing the pictures and surfing ax,
and my pc crashed
(hence i vanished on brian...sorry mate)

i tried to reboot, but nothing happened,
could hear the fan working and the harddisk running,
but no signal to Monitor.

Anywho, have tried new monitor, new graphics card, new motherboard and combinations of these, but still getting nothing :-(

ALWAYS happens,
i'd shit loads to update on my site and just as I am ready to do it, the bloody pc goes on a wee holiday.
grr grr ;-<

So, i can't say when i'll get the pictures up now,

I'm SO sorry to Zeb and some of the fighters who are patiently waiting on them.

and if anybody is wondering why i'm not answering their e-mails......

I can only surf at work now, and am not supposed to, so i best be off afore i get caught.

The Simon Dore fight will only be highjlighted?
That was one of the best on the night!!!

Also the Eddie Beale fight was a good one

The Heavyweights are the way to go
Just my opinion
zebedee
Posted: 2002-10-26 14:38:47
Thanks for highlighting that farhad!
I have to agree, that the Simon Dore fight was a good fight and deserved to go out, but they could only get so many on. The good thing about having a highlights package, is that at least all the fights will get some airing.
