"New Blood"

The prestigious Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington will be the venue for a night of Professional Thai Boxing. The main event will be an International Bout and all bouts will be fought over five rounds.

Every bout will feature a local fighter.

The hall will be split into two and there will be 12 tables available on one side where a gourmet meal will be served up by the renowned Heathcotes Catering Group.

The other side of the room will have standard seating and both sides have their own bar.


11 local fighters will be on show!

Show starts at 6pm and should finish for 11pm.

The venue is in walking distance of the train station, reasonable priced hotels and the town centre.

Should be a good night :)

Not got the line up yet, still getting names coming in mdm5.

Struggling to match my heavyweight at 98kg if anyone has one.

He has had about 10 fights some years ago but has been out of the game for quite a while.

Just got confirmation that the show will be covered by ShoutFight TV.

This is great news as this means that ShoutFight are also putting their efforts into the grass roots of our sport as well as the major events.

Si is on his holidays for a week but Sapphire gym is fully operational. Iv spoke with Si if your fighting out of Sapphire and you get matched on this show you got 5 weeks.See you tomorrow?(and every day after that)

i aint been in this week through a groin injury 1st of all.... and i came in to training on monday to let SI know... The last 3 weeks before that I was in training, running for half an hour before the fighters classes.. I've not seen you in the fighters classes or sparring for a few weeks tho..

I was amazed to meet young connor , the guy is incredible. His confidence for his age is just unbelievable. When i met him at the show i was also amazed at how small he really is. He looks so much bigger on TV. Hope to meet you guys again. Was a pity i didnt get to speak to you though.

Andy Brocklebank fights for Phil Bartons Elite Gym. And yes hes very experienced. Indeed far more so than Alex.

The fight is matched at 69kgs FTR.

Alex will be the under dog going in. Only time will tell if he leaves top dog eh? Eitherway it'll be a good fight.

And too many people select easy fights. I appreciate the challenge, as does Alex and we will be ready. Thanks to DJ for the opportunity.

great show last night, great venue for some 1st time fighters!
My personal highlight was my Darren Till fighting so well after his opponent dropped out on the day, thanks to Salford thai boxing for jumping in with him and fighting short notice. It was also nice to meet Darren Morris, Bill Judd, Phil Barton and loads of other nice coaches. There was a great atmosphere in the back rooms, congrats to Alex Abusin on his fight, Andy Howson said to him after the fight that that was the best he's seen him fight and iv'e got to agree he was like a workhorse not giving brocklebank a second to settle - great knees too.

The show started with a couple of nice demonstrations from the juniors, Conner especially showing the change in style Dave has engineered.

Sean Perry won first round ko against Luke Wood

Amanda Kelly did really well to keep her composure following a very aggressive start from Nikki Burton, turning the fight around in the latter rounds to gain a points win.

John Blair had to pull out in the morning with Flu, which left Darren Till facing last minute stand in from Salford Thai, Tommy McBurns (?) Darren turned in a very convincing performance to take points victory, although a little less show boating next time please!

Aiden Grenwood and Kamon Picken fought a very technical fight which swung back and forth, Kamen just taking the last round to gain a majority points victory. I think Kamen's best performance so far.

Phil Sheddon and James Lewis had a war which swung back and forth, it was so close that the judges gave it one to red, one to blue and one a draw.

Alex Abusin turned his best performance so far to take a points victory over Brocky. His knee work was a great throughout and Brocky just never seemed to get out of the gate. Always difficult coming back after a long lay off.

Tommy brooks turned in a gutsy performance against Kev Gosney, but couldn't really convert his aggression and will to win into scoring shots, losing on points.

Mark Crossley beat Mark Angus rsc in 3rd

Daiton Jackson fought a very good fight, well paced with excellent knee work throughout. He responded well to any scoring shot that luca made and pulled away in the last three rounds to take a points victory. Daiton is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Ismael Doumbia proved to be a bit of a wild card, showing shots from funny angles in the first two rounds, Gavin stalked his opponent well throughout the fight, looking to score with his hands. He did score well with his knees but the French lad was guilty of holding the ropes to negate this and perhaps should have been warned more. Gavin's corner were pleading with him to kick more and open up. In the third it appeared he might be turning the fight and was landing some nice shots, he opened up with a barage of punches which the french lad took on his arms before delivering a crashing right hand knocking Gavin out.

Well done to Dave and all involved

P.S. Next time protect the judges from the crowd more and buy them a bottle of water :-)

Just starting to wake up after a long night. Everything ran smoothly and there were some good tough fights on the card. Two junior bouts without a descision and 10 5 rounders.

Got loads of support from the Thai Boxing Community and it was good to see some old friends in the crowd.

Thanx to all the gyms that put fighters forward and to Sandy and Richard Smith who let me take a fighter of next weeks Ikon show to replace a last minute match up.

I couldnt have done it without a great team behind me so special thanx to Brian, Budgie, Liam, John Hale, Frank, James, Johnathon and Fatima who all worked behind the scenes to make the show run smoothly.

Great performance, despite the break/controversy in the middle of the bout. It would have been very easy to switch off after landing the clean technique.

Yes Alix should have won by KO in round 2. Down to once again different interpretation of the rules by officials.

Alex pressed hard from the off resulting in Brocky turning away from the onslaught and leaning away. Alex reigned down a flurry of elbows. One of which Ko'ed Brocky who slumpted over the ropes. The Ref broke the fight.

Alex stood in a nuetral corner. The paramedics were called to the now seated Brocky. However; the doc appeared ringside and asked me (Thinking it was over i had climbed in to both congratulate alex and see to Brocky) how bad the cut was?

I inspected the wound and advised it was down to the bone but not dangerous.

The ref asked what Brocky wanted to do. He said he wanted to continue. The ref advised the judges to deduct one point from alex as in his opinion he had struck a man whose back was turned. All this took minutes. minutes that allowed Brocky to clear his head and allow him to continue.

I confess the confusion resulted in my losing touch with the exact round this happened 1 or 2 for sure.

The fight resumed with Alex dominating as he had done up to that point.

In my opinion The ref made a call based upon his understanding of the events and stuck to his guns. Certainly had his decision had an effect upon the result it may be worth reviewing. It did not.

It was a pleasure to be able to compete against Brocky and a privaledge indeed to be allowed to tend his injuries and stitch him up after wards. Its a sport not a war, and an opportunity to make new friends. if that makes sense

interesting, i have always been impressed by brocky and have a lot of respect for him maybe turned back due to ring rust but thats a straught KO no questions about it, fair play to alex for carring on with a fight he had already one and was by the sounds of it very impressive so congrats to him and his camp.

is it dangerous to carry on after you have been KO'd and rested? is the boxers safety at risk?

I have discussed this with the ref and the issue is closed. In his opinion Brocky was hung over the ropes, his back to Alex. He felt Alex ought not to have continued to reign down elbows.

Right or wrong the place to discuss the rules is before or after a fight. Not during. And the crowd calling out to the ref cannot help matters.

My understanding is that to turn away is a foul. Whereas to strike a turned man is not.

Throughout the whole contest the Ref did a sterling job and his commitment to fighter safety is commendable. Even if i do not agree with that particular decision. My respect is undiminished.

But I will clear the rules first LOL!

Tell the truth Bill....our hospitality was rubbish!

My car keys went home with someone else after the party and my phone was locked in my car which was left in Warrington. This meant that I technically abandoned the London guys at the hotel and didnt get back in time to pay them their expenses or drop them at the station.

Expenses are being sorted and I will make it up to you guys next time xx

It was good to have your fighters on the show and they both put in sterling performances.

I enjoyed my self as did my fighters and would come back (if asked) any time . I put my hands up to being a light weight, I knew if i went to the after party I would be wrecked for the week.

Just watched a couple of the fights on P4TV - Alex was on top form and although I missed the "controversial" elbow to the back of the head on the night, I definately believe it was legal, it was pretty much instantly as Brocky turned his back - fair play to Brocky though, he carried on to the end of the fight, and after a while out of the ring too, he looked a little too casual at the start but I'm sure that won't happen again.
Gavins fight against the French kid was starting to swing Gav's way - Gav looked strong and was starting to pick up the pace,but was caught flush with a solid right that would have downed an elephant - personally I'd like to see a rematch, as after the little jig frenchie done over Gav while he was still down was very disrespectfull, and a few of us felt like chinning him !!
