Yeah, loving it mate, settled in and just getting my fitness up just now, but nearly there! Went all gung ho at the start and lost about 2 kg in 3 days, so decided to pace myself a bit since I'm away for so long! Anyway, don't want to hijack the tread, so better get back on topic. What about Kenny Vs. Dougie, I think it will be a cracker!

Pisand and Gary, i acquired the image from a guy from America who had been at fights that Chris was fighting on. I managed to get in touch with him and asked him if i could use it on the poster for the show. As you can see he gave me permission to use it so i would like to say a big thank you to Saadiq Rodgers-King for the pic, it is much appreciated.

Thanks

Please help........Chernobyl Disaster. The following is a letter from Nai Khanom Tom instructor Allan Gibson.

I will be travelling to Belarus with members of staff and kids from the local Grangemouth High school for a week in July 2006 to assist with the building of a much needed roof structure for a childrens play area. Belarus is the nearest safe area to live/work from the region affected by the disaster. Every person and the environment was affected and the effects could last for hundreds of years.

The Childrens Centre caters for children that have been affected by radiation from the Chernobyl incident. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the disaster. There is over a hundred children at the centre, some are orphaned and there is a limited facility for parents of the remainder to stay with them. The work of BUSKIT is to raise awareness and funds that contribute to this centre in an effort to help the children. Most have terminal illnesses.

Could the Scottish Thai Boxing Association, affilitated clubs and any other club wishing to help, please do so by donating T-Shirts or similar clothing for the children to wear. This could be delivered to them on this planned trip. It would be a good publicity event for Thai Boxing and Martial Arts as a whole but more importantly it would be a significant contribution to a worthwhile cause.

Thanks Allan G.

p.s. A box will be available at the fights in Airth for anyone wishing to donate any T-shirts and anyone else wishing to donate to this good cause please contact me by e-mail

Enjoyed the fights today, stuck behind the camera most of the time though and you dont get a good perspective of whats going on so bit of a nightmare, well done to the Kaizen Muay Thai fighters one win for Colin Anderson making his debut and one loss for Karen Chalmers who was fighting a 70kg Emily at around 63-64kg but performed well..

There are two sides to the 'BLZbub' coin today.

HEADS - Im happy at having been to a really enjoyable show in a beautiful venue. Well done to the promoters, you provided some quality. The fighters were all up for it and I take my hat off to all of them. It was sporting and full on from the word go.

TAILS - Some of those officials need to be shot. That is the bottom line!!!
Gassing, electrocution, or hanging, would all be acceptable alternatives.
I've been studying a lot of DVD and video recently to try and improve my understanding, and I just can't make sense of some of the crap I saw today.
Far too many ware scored as draws. I only saw one that I thought was a draw. I think some of those judges chose to sit on the fence instead of making an effort to reward the rightful winners.
How the last bout could have been scored as a draw is just scandalous. ROBBERY is the only word that describes that decision. I've seen Conor fight 3 times and I have massive respect for him, but I'm sure he will class himself as more than lucky to take a draw today. John Dick should have won that fight by at least 2 points, and I'm seriously pissed that he didnt.

Was this a unanimous decision? Or a majority? Excuse me if I'm rocking the boat but I bought a ticket, which makes me a customer, and I think my question is reasonable.

Who scored what in this bout?

I think that each judge's scores should be announced publicly at the end of the fight. That would force them to get their act together.
Incidentaly, I heard today that Tony Myers is coming up to do a judgeing and refereeing course next month. I would reccommend that the half wits who drew this bout not only go to the course, but actually try to learn a thing or two.

Moving on to referees, Kenny Burnett had his usual steady performance. It was interesting reading the body language between him and Dougie Clark. If those guys manage to arrange a fight in the future it's going to be a belter.

Frank Watkins is a guy I never used to like after he stopped one of my mates a couple of years ago. In hindsight, my mate was getting hammered big time and it was a novice fight, so the guy was just doing his job and protecting the weaker man. I think Frank is a dependable professional. He never seems to get flustered or show emotion. Earlier in this topic he was described as inspirational which I would agree with after I saw him in the ring at the Caledonian sparring event. Big balls! Maybe he would take on a fight as well as Kenny Burnett? They could be on the same card. I would pay good money to see that.
But who would referee? ........ Certainly not that other eejit Ferns who reffed some of the fights today. Warning fighters for things they obviously couldnt help, and that pulling their arms down business. He seemed more interested in wiping down the ropes with his face cloth than doing the job properly. He reminded me of Stephan Fox, 'The Towel Man'. Maybe it's his trade mark. The guy looked totally out of his depth.

Well that's my rant over! Thanks for the otherwise great show. I can only hope that Mr Myers course is extremely well attended.

P.S. I am serious about wanting to know how each of the judges scored the last fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get yourself the DVD, its very different to being at the event and getting caught up in the emotions of it all, it was a very close matchup at the end and personally i think it could have gone either way, very good fight,

My fight recap:

John had hurt connors leg by the end of the 3rd round with some nice legkicks but didnt capitalise, connor switched into southpaw briefly to protect the leg and John went for the other leg, though on the flipside he was countered well from connor catching his teeps and coming back with either a series of strong straight punches or body kicks which knocked John down several times, both guys showed some good combination work esepcially with the boxing and John Dick was superior in the clinch but only briefly tasted that side of the fight, both fighters had there moments throughout this fight and it would be hard for the judges to place there call, so maybey a draw was the way they saw it. I do say though that i like to see a decision made even if they have to split it on A) most aggressive b) style c)defence etc but i do agree its always best that a winner and loser is chosen,,, It could be done K-1 style and fight another round, now that would be fun!!!!

Have to agree with BLZbub, i thought John Dick fought very well and deserved the win, Connor edged the 1st but had John ahead by a point after two big rounds in the 2nd and 3rd and Connor wasnt convincing enough in the final two rounds to get the win. It was a great fight to watch with both guys using some strong and accurate boxing and countering each other well.
Overall a good show, only a pity that the venue wasnt bigger as its a great place. Well done to Emily on great performance!

Would like to say a big well done to Cavas Ceen from Fighting Fit. Did us all proud mate, if it wasn't for you having your hands by your ass at the end of round one you would have took the fight rather than getting the draw.

As for Kev "Silky Troosers" Cottrell, you did not bad either mate. But as for Mr Jon Brown, you're getting a pummeling on Tuesday pal ;-P

Lads I really have to disagree with ye on the Conor V John fight. It was very close and yes John was way too good in the clinch, but as you said Dicks didnt have much time in the grapple. Conor how was much stonger and aggressive in the last two rounds threw much stonger kicks and punches and thats what pulled the fight level. He didnt switch to southpaw to protect his leg, he did it to throw off his opponent, and it worked, John himself admitted that. Dont know how you think Conor's legs were sore because John flinched himself once or twice after Conor kivking him

All in all it was a great fight, with the draw being exactly right! and a rematch is definitly on the cards, probably in Cork, September 30th

I thought it was sore because it looked sore after a couple kicks and he switched guard, hence me thinking it was to protect it, sorry i am not a mind reader and didnt know that conor didnt feel pain, lol. We all read fights different ways and that is why there are paid professional judges to read them properly! A great fight from both lads anyway and im sure when the rematch comes somebody will tip the scales this time and get a victory! peace out!

Cavas got a draw Dougie, which was good considering he got an 8 count in round one. But he was by far the stronger fighter just had his hands at ass level alot. Kev won. Jon got beat.

Glad the classes are going well mate, if they are starting well then I'm sure you'll have them crammed soon enough!

Training could be better mate, I've been looking good over the last few weeks, but I've caught a Chest Infection the week before fighting, so forced to take a few days off training , plus I'm doped up on antibiotics and about 10 other types of pills that they gave me at the hospital! I'm sure I'll shake it off in a couple of days and be in decent form though. I'll keep you posted mate!

Nobody got any photos of the show?
