Just back from the show.
Craig Jose was truly outstanding.
His war with Michael Dicks was the best fight of the show (IMO)
An absolutely epic battle.
I'm betting he will sleep well tonight.

Other highlight for me was:
Rungs entrance...the guy knows how to put on a show, lol (pity fight ended early looked like it could have been another stormer)

It was pretty busy! About twice as busy as last year.
Well done to the OB's for a mad good show, really enjoyed it. All the fights were good, though the MMA couldve done with lasting more than a minute! haha.
Unlucky to John Dick though, Dean James is a solid fighter, well impressed.
Paul Grant was perhaps fighter of the night for me, total class of his own, great bout with Rab Burt.
Wouldve also have liked to have seen the Rung/Cadden fight last a bit longer considering the hype it got! Though Rungs kilt and highland jig mroe than made up for it

Well done to all the fighters, brilliant show.

Well done Richard Cadden on winning the rematch against Rung. Pity it ended so soon as it was shaping up to be a cracker of a fight.

The odds were definately stacked against Rung on this fight. He only had 1 leg and Stevie Nisbet stole his walking stick......lol

Well done Richard Cadden.

Fight of the night by a country mile was Dicks vs Jose, Craig Jose deserved to win the tournament, he had 3 hard fights and won them all. He was simply outstanding from start to finish, well done Craig you deserved it mate. Also well done to Tommy Young, we knew you would do it lad, and well done to Hilary, way to go. And Cadden fooking brilliant lad great finish to the fight, you nearly went down from that body kick though LOL.

Hi this is John O`Brien I`ve hijacked gary Douglas`s I.D so as I can thank you all for your help in putting together this show. Firstly,to Gary O`Brien for working round the clock day after day to ensure that we attracted a first class line up and that they all made it to Braehead on time and that they had opponents to fight on the day. Gary climed a virtual mountain of details and logistics to get this one together.

Also thanks to the ever dependables,Yoda, Guy, Stevie Nisbett and Bobby Quinn and their fighters and coaches for rallying round and doing everything possible to ensure the show was a success.

A big cheers to John Nicholson and all the MMA fighters, you are all as mad as a bucket of frogs, but moan about absolutely nothing and have truly been great to work with. Many thanks also to coaches and fighters from England and Europe whose attendance added stature to the show ( Paul Hamilton) I don`t know very well but you did a shit load to help us and i truly appreciat everything.

Maximum respect to Craig Jose on his stunning 8-1 tournament win, a deserved winner and a genuinely likeable guy. Newcastle is practically Scottish so a technical victory for us Jocks(ahem).

Lastly RUNG thank you for agreeing to wear the kilt an entering to the Proclaimers, your entrance nearly brought the house down, your a small man with a big heart CHEERS. I`ll phone anybody I`ve missed and thank you in person.

I am now away to sleep for 4months!!!

"Yeah sorry bout that."

Nah nah i didnt mean it to be cheeky, sorry if it came across that way!

Ive got huge respect for MMA fighter, the levels of fitness is ridiculous. I dont get a chance to see it live often, nae, at all. So i was looking forward to these matches but was a bit dissapointed when they were over in minutes! Dont get me wrong they were still entertaining, but obviosuly i wouldve liked to have seen it going a bit further and been able to see alot more ground work etc close up and live :)

Well done to john and gary for putting on this size of show you still had your doubters but you pulled it off once again.

rungs entrance was class, to be honest i thought he was gonnay stop cadden but richard caught him with two cracking shots, congrats with the win. if someone could keep us updated on how rungs doing.

Craig jose was amazing first time seeing him fight and as soon as the draw was made i knew it was gonnay be a war with him and dicks.
i thought lloyd should have won his fight (imo)

Big well done to My bro John Douglas good to be back to winning ways after a couple of defeats i thought he fought really well and controlled the fight.

I thought that Dean James and Craig Jose were very similar in style. Both are thinkers!! They don`t bombard with combinations you can actually watch them suss out their opponents. When both these boys found a technique that affected their opponents they actively work on fakes and strategies to land the technique time after time.
Dean and James never seemed to be troubled by their opponents as even when pressured they knew they could land counter strikes which always had their opponents chasing the fight. In both these lads you witnessed an absolute master class in Muay Thai boxing. brilliant

Dean James again stepped up to the plate...and delivered!
Good sportmanship shown before during and after a good battle from both his opponent and his corner.
This was Deans first fight on such a large show....but he stepped his game up again and fought realy realy well using all 8 weapons of Muay Thai tought so well to him by Mr Tony Myers.
Dean will take a lot of things from this fight,it will add to his confidence and will have a lot more to work on.
On a personal level i was soo proud of this young man and its a pleasure to work his corner.
Great great show...good fights and a friendly atmosphere..what more could you ask for!
Craig Jose..........well done mate catch up soon

Jose was awesome, I thought and hoped Dicks would win event but Jose was class. Well deserved, especially after having two hard fights en-route to final then coming up against Dennis the Belarussian guy who had sailed through his first two fights.

The Belarussian was a good fighter. Tiny compared to some of the guys in the tournament, but what a cocky git....lol His antics were hilariuos. When I first seen him come into the ring with a hair-do simialr to Justin Timberlake in his Nsync days I thought he was going to get pasted but he then proceeded to dispatch one guy in round one, then the Thai in two rounds. One of the most entertaining fighters of the night.

Dean James awesome. Very tidy. Nothing wasted. When he starts to develop some serious power he will be a cracking fighter. Technique wise he is far beyond only his 8 fight record.

Rung entrance was class, but Cadden's elbow was spot on. Right on the button. Well done mate.

The KO of the first MMA bout was just sick. The guy's head was rattled a few times of the canvas. Glad he eventually got up ok.

Great show though. Well done!

Got to mention Denis Varsaxa the Belorussian. Got to have the hardest head in NATO - he is fooking nails. Unbeleivable spinning backfist he knocked out Thongchailek in the 8-1 semi final after already knocking out Stevie Meikle in the quarters. Then went on to have an elbow fest with Craig Jose in the final.

Craig caught him with so many right elbows that I couldn't believe that he was still standing at the end. The crowd was going so fooking wild that none of us heard the final bell and we'd actually thought Craig had won by Tony stopping the fight! Absolute cracker.

Caddens fight was shaping up nicely and was living up to the hype in every respect! Must've been a few thousand people there ALL singing and clapping to the Proclaimers on his ring entrance! There was a better turn out at POS than one of their gigs (so I'm told lol!!!!). That ring entrance was worth the ticket fee alone. Cadden caught Rung with a right cross to score a first knockdown, but not before Rung had worried us with a fantastic body kick. It was all over after a sickening elbow which had you in two minds - fantastic for Cadden and us, but worried for Rung who knew immediately that it was over. A worrying few minutes until the doctors gave him the ok.

Well done Rich and sorry I never got chance to talk to you later.

Fighters that stood out for me: Tommy Young who mullered Andrew O'Briens left thigh to a pulp and fought his own fight throughout. John Douglas, who never got flustered by a Belgian fighter who was in there for a scrap and every punch he threw was potential knockout material. Cool and calm - good fight. Dean James was brilliant, glad I've got to see him in the flesh now.

First time I've been to a Scotland show and was impressed by the standard. Excellent!

Was a long show and was gutted that we couln't stay to see the last 3 fights - long drive back to York.

Its all good dude, never thought your comments were negative, was a little disappointed myself. But Gary had told me to not to hang around so when the oppurtunity came along i took it :)

Got 6 weeks fight training and another oppurtunity to deal with the stress of competing so was cool.

Craig Jose is an inspiration. Great fighter and one of the best guys ive met. Nice work by my bros/lady James, tommy and Hil as well.

Great show. I thought the female fight was very good. I have seen Martinez fight before and she usually outclasses her opposition so it was good to see Mack handle her so well. Why was this fight without elbows if it was 5 x 3 mins? Did the girls not want to fight with them? That would be a shame.

The Dicks Jose fight was a stormer. Would love to see this as a rematch over 5x3mins. The crowd went wild. Jose was a great winner of the tournament.

the fights were very technical with some really great bouts. Perhaps a bit too long but a good show all the same.

Cadden looked excellent and yep at least from where I was sitting it looked like a chopping right cross! Could be wrong tho! And almost unbelievably Rung's Wai Kru was slightly longer too! At one point they looked like they'd synchronised them!

The 8-1 was 3x3mins and only the final was elbows (not sure about knees to the head?) Rudolf Durica looked like he was missing his favourite weapons and lost to a much taller opponent in Tim Thomas(and also gave away 3Kgs). Perks of a tournament tho I guess. Thongchailek winning against Lloyd Cochrain was an unpopular decision with the crowd in the quarters, and imo Lloyd had done more than enough to win. Didn't detract from the tourney tho.

If you get a chance to watch the dvd it's worth it for Rungs entrance and Denis Varsaxa's "little lord fauntleroy hair". Dropping his arms and pushing his chin forward in his first fight didn't exactly endear him to a home town crowd tho lol

Thanks for all the kind regards. I am absolutely over the moon with the result.
Many thanks to Rajasak and all the guys for the preparation and hard training.
Thanks to all the people who travelled all the way up to Scotland to support me.

It was a helluva fight.
As everyone has said above, Rungs entrance was fookin class and I was smiling along as I was gonna come out to the same tune....although I hadnt got the full ensemble with the kilt! :)
We had a very "thai" style preparation with us both getting ready in the same changing room, and Rajasak and Rung chatting away! LOL
Rung came out like a steam train and caught me a peach of a left body kick, but I was able to growl it out. Rung came in looking to finish the bout early and stepped onto a short choppy right hand for the first count, then while looking to even up the score I landed the same right hand followed by a right elbow which opened up a nasty cut on Rungs right eye.
It was an all action bout, and at that pace, was never gonna go the distance.

I thought it was great how we shared a few drinks at the aftershow party and then attempted to carry each other back to the hotel very worse for wear! :))))))

All in all, a great weekend, great fight, great sportsmanship, great commradery....absolutely loved it.
Many thanks to Gary and John O Brien for putting on such a great promotion.

Thanks to Gary and John for giving me the opportunity and congrats on a great show. Well done everyone who was involved, nice to meet up with everyone again from around the country. well done noi. couldnt see th 1st knock down very well as iwas right in line with rung but a crunching elbow to finish. craig jose was outstanding all night
he beat dicks in a fight that was good enough to be the final. his finishing of veraxa was a bit weird as after he landed his 1st elbow then veraxa didnt want to know. in the first round veraxa looked th fresher. but jose jst worked him out excellently and took him apart in th next 2.
a big well done to wee(?) john douglas gettin bak 2 winnin ways against a not nery technical oppo. but a hardy cunt all the same (he lookd a lot heavier thn69.)

OK here we go - this is BLZbub, live from the gates of the hot place. As you all know, I have a devilish opinion on most things.

First of all to John and Gary O'Brien - You can ease up on the 'S' word. That is not the problem. Last year everything was delayed because of the snow. This year the start was held up because of ((me and a couple of thousand other people could hardly believe the announcement)) !!! TABLE DRESSINGS !!!

Perish the thought that the poor highly strung VIPs (gawd bless em') should have to sip their first glass of chilled chablis from a glass which had been sitting on a 'bare table' (OMG!!!! think of the damage the bacteria could do to those delicate little tummies)

Meanwhile, me and the rest of the riff-raff, and all of those dedicated and fine fine fighters, were kept waiting.......... NOT GOOD!

Incidentaly, I and my little group of vagabonds meandered through the table area on our way out, and counted not 1, not 10, but 17 empty half litre Buckfast bottles. Seems that the dreaded 'Stanklick' now has VIP approval. Next thing you know, we'll see HRH swigging a bottle in the back of her Roller while cruising the roads around Balmoral.

What a prime example of unquantifiable fuddery!

Anyway, to get back to my original point. Last year SNOW - this year TABLE DRESSINGS. You see the link guys - mention any colour of the rainbow, yer Mauve, yer Puce, yer Pastel Pink, but don't mention the 'W' colour. That's yer Voodoo Hoodoo!!!!!!!!!!!

In fact, next show, instead of the normal T&A ring girls, I recommend a pair of 'Wicca' girls to chase the bad vibe away. (I can put you in touch if you're struggling - free service)

Firstly...I am NOT a muay thai judge, haven't attended any of the judging seminars and therefore do not have a qualified opinion.

I would really appreciate (with the greatest respect), if someone could explain what it was that won Lloyd Cochrane's opponent the decision.

Any comments would be appreciated...

cannaebebotheredtraining / Dougie, that is the $64,000 question which is causing sleepless nights and skin irritations all over Scotland. Got to say, I'm as dazed and confused as the next guy. I did try to have a word with the lanky judge but he was about as communicative as a sleeping Orang Utang. Think he got a knock back from Barbie the ring girl.

As did I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scott Robinson
Posted: 2007-03-05 14:20:01
cannaebebotheredtraining i'm not a judge either but from what i seen lloyd lost the fight becasue: punches have to off balance or affect the opponent to score. The thai had a a strong guard and Lloyds punches were only landing to the top of his head and fore-arms. In the clinch Lloyd was pulling the thai down almost like a head lock but the thai was landing knees to his back every time which i belive to be a good score, where lloyd wasn't landing knees. Only my opinion from what i know and have seen before it was close and i think it was a majority decission but its how i would of scored it aswell.

Sounds like an excellent show! Here's hoping copies of the evening will
be on sale real soon.

Well done Craig, great news and I'm really pleased for you and all at
Sor Thanikul.
I can't recall seeing a thread on this site that included so much praise
and appreciation of a fighters achievement and personality, an awesome review.

Bottle it up Craig and get it to Glen Roeder, the Toon could win the
Premiership next season!!

Craig Jose was simply outstanding from start to finish. From thoughtful, clever strategy, to toe-to-toe war. He had it all sussed. Well deserved winner.

I just loved Denis Varsaxa. Being from Belarus, you just know you're getting someone who's mildly psychotic. (The Russian special forces recruit most of their people from Belarus for that very reason).

Dean James has to be one of the most polished young fighters around at the moment. He puts his combinations together like an ever-changing tapestry. Venom in every stitch! Credit to John Dick for giving a good account of himself. Took the knocks and smiled till the final bell.

Mr Cadden, you impressed the hell out of me and many others. You're a credit to your gym, your corner crew, and most importantly - yourself. You came to work and did your job. Saw the gap, and capitalised with almost clinical precision. You were obviously concerned for Rung as he was being treated by the doc, and that showed through to the crowd. With guys like you around, the sport is in very safe hands. 100% Respect !!!!!

The only thing that irritates me about you is that you can actualy wear that colour combination on your robe .... AND GET AWAY WITH IT !!!!!!!

Oh Gary D - John did a great job yesterday. I think someone said earlier that every shot the other guy threw was a potential knock-out blow, and I would agree with that. He's learning how to handle the sluggers now!

Cheers blzbub, aye the boy was pretty strong but i knew if john kept him at kicking distance he would start to run out of ideas and start headhunting and that was the case. He's learning all the time and he's going to start fighting at 70kg now (i think) so he should be stronger in future fights which is scary cause he has awesome power in his kicks the now.

got to admit, from where I was sitting ,I thought that Lloyd had done enough to win the fight, BUT the judges are up there and personal with the action, they get to see what really counts.what may look impressive from a distance can sometimes be just cosmetic.sometimes the hype from the crowd can sway a persons perception of a fight and sometimes, what may not look like mutch, can be very effectual and only the judges might notice because it is right there in front of them.there is a world of difference between sitting back enjoying a fight for what it is and obliviously and impartially scoring ,or not scoring each blow to make sure that that the fighter who deserves to win, wins.at the end of the day ,both fighters KNOW who won.Lloyd is probably too much of a gent to complain either way.

Jose was amazing, the fight with Dicks was like something out of a Rocky film or something and he deserved to win the tournament after having to fight the 3 best guys in it by a distance!!
Big well done to Tommy Young, delighted for you mate and knew you would do it, all the hard work paid off!
Also well done to Hilary, Paul McVeigh and James Doolan with another devastating ko!
John Cullen v Marc De Luca was also a good fight to watch.
Dean James oozes class but John did well against him and never gave up, good win for Paul Grant as well and thought John Douglas controlled his opponent pretty well.
Great show, just a bit long but i understand the need to have lots of different fighters on to sell tickets.

HI everybody,
Just got back a few minutes ago from are trip to SUNNY Scotland.

First of all a big well done to Gary O'Brien & Team to have produced a show with a more than OUTSTANDING 8 man Tournament!! It was one of the most exciting tournaments i've seen in long time.

Gary has the bollocks to invest in this sport and take risk to produce a show like this. He doesnt make it easy on himself and showed a POS2 that can compete with the major league shows around the world. Big well done and RESPECT to you.
Only thing is, you need those wednesdays off to go and see the movies, lol.. You know what i mean!!

The Bellorussian who in fact is Ukrainian was awsome and came in so strong. Craig Jose proved loads of people wrong and gave the fanatstic crowd a magnificent Final. Elbow Slugfest!! 3 Rounds making things clair that Craig deserved this one all the way after 3 great fights!! Well done and also nice to meet a very down to earth guy in Craig Jose & Team.

Tim Thomas, always nice to meet you as always, just this time we missed a chance to have a mineral water after the show but am shure we will be able to do that in near future again.

Our fantastic driver with 5 children!! You are my hero mate!! You really am. Say hi to your lovely princess from our team. It was nice to see her loosing her first tooth in the van on saturday and see how excited she was about the toothferry coming that night. Great!! GReat!! GReat!! Also, you should be the next STAR ON A DANCEFLOOR!!

Rung vs Cadden.. Entrance was simply great , fight was explosive . Big respect for those to guys. GReat Fight. Would have loved to see a few more rounds..Afterparty was not bad either. Seeing those two having a beer was another great moment. Well..Not to get in to details... We had fun helping everybody get back in the hotel,lol..

POS3 allready on the way so good luck on this one see you all hopefully in good health somewhere sometime!!

Thanks

Now!! SLEEP!!

fight of the night for me was dicks and jose very close battle and would love to see a re match full rules, unlucky to john dick you gave a good tough fight mate but dean james is a tough technical fighter to, good to watch! allan mctavish looks a tidy we fighter as that was only his 2nd fight well done! unlucky to rung that fight looked as if it was warming up just nicely. paul grant is really looking sharp and technical and has respect in the ring at all times one of the fights of the night for me. i thought llyod cochren had done enough to win his fight but hey the judges know best, all in all great show good atmosphere and really good fights.

Well done down on a brilliant show, great looking venue, very professional set up and well organised. Gary you must be almost the same age as me now with all the stress though mate. It was great to see some old friends and meet some people I had previously only contacted by e-mail. Nice to meet you Stephen, I thought your fighter Mark, had a nice style and fought really well. Those individuals who were kept waiting at the start need to be aware it wasn’t the promotion teams fault at all but the venue’s policy. The venue’s staff wouldn’t even let fighters and officials in even when Gary protested.

I was impressed by the technical standard of the fighters and thought even the novices had a good style and were trying to score well. The tournament was excellent with some exciting fights. I thought Craig fought really, really well and had the hardest route to the final with some exciting all action battles. Craig comes over as a really sound lad, tough, skilful, confident but not arrogant at all. Well done on a great win. The war with Michael Dicks was a close toe-to-toe battle that was full of excitement and was a great platform for the skill courage and determination of both fighters. The Belarusian (Ukrainian) was also very impressive and looked physically smaller than many of the others in the tournament but was skilful, accurate and very explosive. Although as a referee it is not as easy to judge as it is sitting as a judge at ringside, I thought the fight was even going into the last in the Lloyd Cochrane fight and that Lloyd could win. However, Lloyd lost it in the last by letting the Thai score without reply. Earlier in the fight he had scored well with body kicks but was although had a high work rate didn’t score with the punches and got scored on by kicks and knees. Punching in the clinch doesn’t score but knees to the back do.

Thanks for the nice comments Mark (Yoda) it is always a pleasure to be in the company of coaches, gyms and fighters with such great attitudes as yours; both before and after a fight. I was really pleased with Dean’s performance against John (Dick). He is still developing and getting better with each fight. In this fight he was able to stay cool, keep his position while really scoring well throughout the fight. John is a really great lad with a heart the size of Scotland. Even at 57kg, Dean has power (having knocked out the majority of his opponents) but John took everything and just kept coming. John, thanks for the fight pal you are a very good fighter and very tough. I am sure you will have learned from the fight and be a better fighter for it. I know Dean had a lot of respect for you before the fight pal and that respect has only grown after your performance. Also thanks to the two Richards (Wainey and Weston)for all your help in getting Dean ready.

I loved Rung’s entrance kilt and all; he is a true warrior and a great personality. The fight started with both fighters looking composed and classy. Then Rung hit Richard with a body kick that nearly broke him in half and then hit with another one. Richard had to use all his experience and courage not to go down and to keep his head. Richard not only showed great heart to ‘weather the storm’ but real class to be able to counter with well timed shots as Rung advanced in attack to try to follow up his initial success. The elbow that finished the fight was excellent and opened up a really bad cut in a really bad place. Well done Rich, an excellent win against a really worthy opponent. Hard luck Rung, Scotland can be proud of their adopted Thai warrior.

Overall an excellent show, well done to everyone involved.

Well done to all the guys that took part in the Power of Scotland 2 show and huge thanks to the organisers - who without their determination and vision we wouldn’t have such amazing shows.

Well done to our very own John James Dick who fought his heart out and displayed great talent. I would see no shame at all at loosing against such a well rounded and intelligent fighter as Dean James. I only managed to wish him luck for the fight briefly at Johns medical but he came across as a very nice guy with a great attitude.

Scottish Muay Thai made great new friends south of the border and further a field at this show and I recon UK Muay Thai took a big step forward.

I still can’t get over the calibre of the worriers that managed to raise the bar once again at this event.

Well done to all winners and losers alike - you are all champions for stepping in there and giving it you’re all.

good seeing everyone, dean james was class and his ram muay fukin sick, im learning that fo'shizzle! rungs entrance (behave boyz) was awesome. best upliftin entrance for a fight iv ever seen really made you warm up to him instantly. Rich cadden showed balls of steal by suckin in, maning up and staying calm when he got hit and hurt and delt with it perfectly when the chance came, i like that he openly said rung hurt him, hate it when a fighters ego gets in the way and says "it didnt hurt" think this fight could produce a different winner each day of the week. loved watchin the little belarussian guy, he was a spinning box of tricks i think if craig hadnt been so big at the weight and him so small it might have been a different story. Craig jose will surly have a head ache for a week, three fast paced fights one after the other, a fuckin hard man(four fights in a weeek isnt it?)! Class show boys. Felt really sorry for Michael dicks after loosing the fight with jose as nobody deserves to lose in a fight like that although did agree with the judges, Would pay top buck to see the rematch full thai rules.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

John and I have so many people to thank that helped us pull this off and I wouldn’t know where to start, but I also don’t want to name anyone specific, as I’d miss some important ones out, but sincerely, thank you for all your help before and during the event! We also worked with a lot of new people, and everyone was brilliant!

After POS1, we didn’t think we’d get much better, but aimed to make POS2 bigger and better and I can without a doubt say it was! The line-up on paper looked great and from what I saw, the fights lived up to the expectations and more. We tried a lot of things this time, some worked, some didn’t, but we have learned loads of things from the event and we will continue to improve the event! We’ve been working on the next event for a little while as well, so watch this space!

Have to say, the two highlights of the show for me, was… well, the whole 8to1 Tourney to be honest! But the best single moment of the whole day was seeing Rung coming on stage and every spectator on their feet, clapping and singing along. John promised it would bring the house down and it did, a moment of pure genius mate!

Once again, we welcome your feedback, good, bad or indifferent, please get in touch with either of us and let us know your thoughts!

Thanks again for everyone’s support!

Once again, we were treated like family in Scotland. Thank you to Gary & John for the opportunity & to John Cullen for a hard fought battle against Mark. Great fight for 5 rounds. Major thanks to Guy & Gil and everyone who supported us from Caledonian and the Griphouse and actually make fighting in Glasgow like being at home. It was great to meet you, Tony and I appreciate your words regarding Mark. The quality of muayThai in the UK is far above the USA for many reasons, and we're thrilled to put on competitive fighters at that level. Congratulations to all who entered the ring, win or lose, but a HUGE ovation to Craig Jose. Finally got to meet Mr. C in person and see his triumph, which was impressive. Hilary and Tommy - excellent wins for sure, and looking forward to hearing about more upcoming challenges. Hope to hear that Stephen gets back in soon and take the unlucky result in stride. Great wins for the DNFT, Paul and James. Hope to see many familiar faces on the POS 3 in October :)

It depends on the Edit length Hook, I'll probably get it pressed onto a DVD9 disc, which will take about 4 hours with a good bit rate to keep the resolution good. I will no doubt keep some of the entrance and at least some of the Ram Muay's on the Main fights. There was 19 fights on the show, so a lot to cram in, got to love the MMA guys as they don't take long! LOL

I just emailed some pictures taken by Alastair Sinclair how was there for the Paisley Express to Webdunk, so I'm sure he'll get them on the website when he gets a chance. Should have some more tonight to!

Re:- My remarks on my post of 5th March.

I have received an e-mail from Mr John O'Brien who has been good enough to give me some of the background to the short delay at the start of POS2. I was not in posession of the full facts at the time of posting, and had no idea of the nature of the problems facing the organisers till now.

In view of the abrasive tone of my remarks, I wish to state that the need for delaying the start is totally understandable, and I would like to offer a sincere apology to John and Gary for any discomfort my post may have caused them.

POS2 was a truly stunning event and O'B promotions are unquestionably setting the benchmark in Martial Arts event organisation in Scotland.

Looking forward to the next one guys!

I will return your e-mail John

When you off Webdunk, any chance of sneaking me into you're suitcase, I'm only little? Don't worry about them mate, I'll just post some up here when I get a chance. I've got over 500 just now, as Gary GTBA gave me his last night and will be chasing up the rest over the next few days.

As you know POS3 will now be on 28th October and we have been collecting fighters for this for the last few months, but if there is anyone out there wanting to get involved please get in touch! Likewise if you have any fights or fighters you would like to see on the event, let us know! I'm confident that the potential lineups will get everyone excited already.

Everyone is asking us for another 8to1 and at what weight, the truth is that it depends on the fighters available to us, but if we can keep it in there, then we probably will, as they are worth the stress in the end!

There you go Gary,
Muaythai King available, a great weight for an 8man tournament. Imagine Andy Howson, Damien Trainer, Reece Crooke, Graeme Ness a few foreigners.
Maybe hard to bring together but a guaranteed ticket seller. Could make for an even more exciting 8 man than the first two (if that's possible)

Thanks for all the interest and suggestions! I've had a lot of emails about POS3 and have loads of people wanting to be part of it. Unfortunitly we can't feature everyone and have to focus on creating a well matched and exciting lineup, whilst focusing on bringing in the most ticket sales to fund such a huge project. POS2 was bigger and better and we will do our best to raise the bar again in October.

John and I would like to thank everyone in advance for their help in the coming months!

Sorry, have to turn the PC off, my eyes are going square, I'll get some more up tomorrow if I can.

Mr mysterio, the only female fight was Hilary Mack Vs. Jennifer Martinez (France), pictures will be up soon.

I just thought, might have been a good idea to do a seperate thread for the photo's, but its a bit late now! Ooops!

Everyone keeps asking about the DVD, the editing of the DVD will take about 2 weeks from this weekend, then they will be sent to be replicated, which again takes about 2weeks, so we expect them to be available in about a month, sorry about the wait, but you waited about 6 months for the last one! The Thai does have a very telling expression on his face as his arm is lifted.
Sales of this DVD are going to be big, I think.

mr mysterio, Craig Jose beat Michael Dicks on points. It was one of those fights that will have DVD players on repeat for a long time to come.
I honestly thought that Dicks would have taken the tournament, but with so many variables involved, it's nearly impossible to predict a winner

buy the dvd and watch it, if you cant see who won clearly then i would not bother trying to improve on the 3f 3loss record, anyone who wished to discuss any decisions on the night came to the senior judge which was only 1 person and it wasnt concerning this fight and im sure they are quite happy now and will be after seeing the dvd but enquired in an appropriate manner at an appropriate time no-one tried to talk to any judge about the cochran fight after without respone. Have a go watching it sober.
Lloyd fought a good hard fight and is a great fighter but on the night overall he did not win the fight according to muay thai critera.

Thanks for your articulate and well thought-out response. Done in true "Toys thrown out of the pram" style.
OK I probably had some of that coming after my Barbie remark. But then again, she was wearing a delightful Bingo top, the contents of which appeared to defy gravity. Notice too, that your profile is wall-to-wall girlies. I see a pattern emerging here! Could be that your memory lapse is purely hormonal.

The Thai looked stunned when the result was announced. Could be that he has fallen foul of inferior Western judging in the past, and didn't expect to win. I dont know!

Perhaps you also noticed that it was a very different Thongchailek who entered the ring for his semi-final. He was right up for it and showed urgency in every movement.

I will be buying a copy of the dvd, and if your assessment of the fight is correct, I will be the first person to post here with a full vindication of the decision. I'm lippy but fair!

As to my sobriety on the day of the show, I live at the back of beyond, and have to drive everywhere. Alcohol is simply not an option for me.

seems to me that everyone seems to throw accusations out without due cause, tony has posted why the thai won and yet there are still arguments about the decision, there is none more educated on scoring in this country than tony, accept the decision and as liam says watch it back but id recommend having a list of what techniques score and what doesnt and add it to the viewing and see the outcome was correct.
excellent show gary mate. cant wait for the dvd.

Sorry I never came back on to put the other pics up, my PC died on me after I uploaded the last batch. The bad news is I have to wipe the hard drive and with it all the pics I edited & I don't have time to do it again, but will put a few good ones up when my PC is fixed.

Dan, no problem, send me an email & I'll try and get back to you Tues/Wed.

We are already well under way for POS3, so if anyone has any ideas how we can improve it, please get in touch. Obviosly i'm offline just now, but you can email, give us a call or leave a message for John on here.

PoS3 idea's - I dont know about anyone else but I was bloody freezing. Some heating in the changing rooms would be nice! :)

From what I understand the ring and floor-based seating is on the plastic-covered over ice-ring. I know it would cost a bomb to melt the ice and warm the arena, but a bit of warmth in the changing rooms would be nice.
And if your spectating, make sure you wear warm clothes! :)

Apart from that, the runway down to the ring was cool. Great lights. Good sound system.
Dunno how the dry-ice affected the photography?

All in all a fantastic promotion.

Good work 'OB Promotions'

Posted: 2007-03-15 16:41:28
The only downside I'd say was the dry ice... Couldn't see much of the first couple of fights tbh. I know at least one ref spent a bit of time trying to "swirl" it away from the ring.

And it was fooking cold!
l_minndin
Posted: 2007-03-16 15:12:04
my understanding is that the dry ice caused problems for a few fighters' breathing especially the few with asthma. so i would say ditch the dry ice for PoS3 or move the dispensers further away from the ring?

Hi Guys, thanks for the feedback! My PC has been down for ages as I tried to recover all my files before wiping it, which is why I've not been on. So apologies for not replying to peoples emails yet, I'll get round to them asap!

The feedback has been very helpful, most of it we have already tried to address for next time, but if you have anything not matter how trivial, please let us know! The Dry Ice was actually the result of another problem. The Lighting Rigs had been setup too close to each other before John and I arrived, which meant the layout was affected and the lights and smote for the stage and catwalk spread into the ring. As a result we quickly jumped on the smoke after the first fight, but it took a while to clear. The smoke and close proximity of the Ring Lights also affected the projector to the extent that it ended up washed out. The ice and plastic floor is just new to the Arena and should only be temporary while the Lagoon Ice Rink is repaired.

Just for anyone that is wondering, Varaxa's KO of Thongchailek was not a foul, lots of people including myself thought it was a reverse Elbow, but on the footage it clearly shows contact with the back of his glove.

I managed to get a few more edited pics recovered so will post a few more later.

BTW, LOL Yoda, although that has clearly been edited, as I have the original, which I'll post soon! ;) Also, I know who has sent you that pic, so some of the the next batch will be group shots and I've plenty of pics to work from! LOL

Had to came back and pay a couple of tributes

Andy O'Brien, you are The Man!
You step in at short notice regularly, and give it 100%. I think you sum up the fighting spirit and attitude that we all aspire to. You have my greatest respect

Alan McTavish, I been saying for ages that you were 1 to watch, and I was right!

Keiran MacAskill, tighten that guard mate, cause you are another with a bright future. I gave the biggest cheer of the day when I saw you get up

Big Ritchie Hocking, I dont know you but you come accross as a nice lad, so i'm going to give you an equation ::- Outside the ring = NICE GUY. Inside the ring = NOT NICE GUY. With your height and reach you can keep trouble away easily.
Undermine them - Break their hearts - Cut them down. Then be a nice guy afterwards!

Hilary, I enjoyed your fight immensely. It didnt have the bullet-fast acrobatics of Thongchailek, or the skull crushing reverse puch of Varaxa. What it did have was pensive, reactive, quality. It was a technical treat. Defense and counter to the Nth degree. 5 rounds of sheer pleasure for the eye. I was a bit confused by 'A' class fight with no elbows though! External forces, no doubt.

Got to mention your fight kit as well Hilary! In the early part of the POS2 thread I made a reference to a trifle. Your 'Strawberries and Cream' kit certainly excited my taste buds, and made me wonder if perhaps you were sending me a subliminal message. I dont know your situation, and certainly have no wish to offend. All I will say is that my email address is in my profile, I work as a slaughterman so you will never be short of protein (had to be careful how I worded that) and I will let you kick me as often as you like.
